<p>Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/mike-pence" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mike Pence</a> vowed on Friday to reinstate former President Donald Trump&#8217;s ban on transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military.</p>
<p>“We can embrace our role as leader of the free world to confront Russian aggression and Chinese provocations with a new military fitted to the challenges in the 21st century,” Pence told the audience at the Iowa Republican Party&#8217;s Lincoln Dinner in Des Moines.</p>
<p>“And we can end the political correctness at the Pentagon, including reinstituting a ban on transgender personnel in the United States military,” Pence said.</p>

<p>Trump announced the ban on Twitter back in July 2017: &#8220;After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you.&#8221;</p>

<p>Trump <a href="https://twitter.com/Acyn/status/1672777970434334724" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a> on the campaign trail this year that he will reinstate the ban if he becomes president again.</p>

<p>Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also <a href="https://www.miamiherald.com/news/politics-government/article277428813.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pledged</a> on the campaign trail earlier this month that he, too, would ban transgender individuals from serving in the U.S.</p>
<p>However, not all Republicans support banning transgender individuals from serving in the U.S. military.</p>
<p>Vivek Ramaswamy, who is also running for president, was asked in an interview last month if he would reinstate a ban on transgender individuals serving in the U.S. military.</p>
<p>Ramaswamy signaled twice in the interview that he supports allowing transgender individuals to serve in the U.S. military and would not ban them.</p>
