Actress Carrie Bernans’ family shared graphic photos of injuries she sustained from a mass casualty incident while celebrating New Year’s Eve in Midtown Manhattan.
The 29-year-old was walking with a friend near West 34th Street and 9th Avenue following the ball drop in Times Square when a man in a car rammed into a food truck she was standing next to, knocking her unconscious and pinning her beneath the stand, per The Daily Mail. Three NYPD officers were also injured.
The driver, identified as a 44-year-old male, was also hospitalized. The Daily Mail noted that police were reportedly chasing the car before the crash.
Bernans has multiple serious injuries, including broken bones, fractures, and chipped teeth. Her family shared graphic images on social media.
“Posted by Carrie’s mom. She’s still in so much pain and can’t answer calls at this time, but appreciate the messages. This was a traumatic incident,” the post said.
“Please keep Carrie in your thoughts and prayers. She’s in so much pain but healing. She was involved in a traumatic incident in NYC where a man, early 40s was trying to escape a hit and run and ran into multiple cars before hitting a food stand that her friend & her were walking near. It ended up knocking her unconscious and pinned her under the stand. She was under it unaware of what was happening.”
The update continued, “She has a few broken bones, fractures, & chipped teeth but thanking God that she’s alive. Nine people were injured in his attempted escape from the hit & run, including 3 police officers. Police caught him shortly after and arrested him. Amidst the chaos of the New Year’s incident, she’s holding onto an immense sense of gratitude for life itself.”

“This setback hasn’t deterred her belief that something remarkable is still being crafted by God,” the post from her mom said. “Despite the injuries sustained in the collision caused by a hit-and-run in NYC, she’s filled with hope and faith in the unfolding of a beautiful new chapter.”
“Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she navigate this path toward recovery and new beginnings,” The post concluded with a request for fans to keep Bernans in their prayers, plus a request for “teeth makeover places in Atlanta and Los Angeles.”
Bernans is an actress and stuntwoman who has appeared in numerous big-budget Hollywood productions, including “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Endgame,” along with multiple other TV and movie roles. She’s also a motivational speaker.
