Leftist activist Susan Sarandon shared a TikTok video on her Twitter account showing homeless encampments and trash-strewn streets from downtown Oakland.

The 76-year-old actress didn’t add a caption or any context to the clip. The video comes courtesy of an account belonging to homelessness activist Thomas Wolf, who added in his original caption, “This isn’t a shanty town in India. This is Oakland, CA. The crisis of our generation.”

“Dear Progressives: When you’ve lost Susan Sarandon…” one person quote-tweeted her original post.

Sarandon has long been outspoken about her left-of-center views but appears to heap criticism on both Republicans and Democrats. Now the actress is one of many people sharing clips of the homeless crisis currently exploding in major metropolitan areas around the country, especially in California.

The “Thelma & Louise” star was a supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and the Biden-critical socialist Ryan Knight. She’s known for speaking her mind and angering some centrist Democrats for not supporting their chosen candidates, including Hillary Clinton.

During the 2016 presidential election, Sarandon endorsed Green Party candidate Jill Stein instead of Clinton.

“It wasn’t a protest vote. Following Bernie wasn’t a protest,” she told The Guardian at the time. “Well, I knew that New York was going to go [for Hillary]. It was probably the easiest place to vote for Stein. Bringing attention to working-class issues is not a luxury. People are really hurting; that’s how this guy got in. What we should be discussing is not the election, but how we got to the point where Trump was the answer.”

“I did think she was very, very dangerous. We would still be fracking, we would be at war [if she was president]. It wouldn’t be much smoother. Look what happened under Obama that we didn’t notice,” the actress continued.

Sarandon is currently starring in the Fox series “Monarch” alongside some conservatives, such as co-star Trace Adkins. The actress said she has no problem conversing with people who disagree with her. “There’s hope if we just talk to each other in calm ways,” she said of getting along with the cast, according to TMZ
