Twitter owner Elon Musk responded on Thursday to news that the company had reportedly canceled a deal with The Daily Wire to stream &#8220;What Is A Woman?&#8221; and said that it was &#8220;a mistake by many people at Twitter.&#8221;
After Elon Musk’s takeover of the social media platform and his promised dedication to free speech, The Daily Wire sought a deal to stream Matt Walsh’s “What is a Woman?” on Twitter for the documentary’s one-year anniversary. Initially, Twitter responded enthusiastically to the idea, even offering The Daily Wire a package to purchase a whole page for Twitter users to view the film, Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing said. That changed after the platform asked to view a screening of the film.
“After reviewing the film, though, Twitter let us know that not only could we no longer purchase the package they offered, they would no longer provide us any support and would actually limit the reach of the film and label it as ‘hateful conduct’ because of ‘misgendering,’” Boreing said in a tweet thread explaining Twitter’s reversal.
“Specifically: In the film, a father refers to his 14-year-old daughter as ‘her,’ and a store owner uses the ‘wrong’ pronoun in a confrontation with a transgender woman,” Boreing continued.
Musk, who is currently outside the U.S. on a business trip, responded to Boreing: &#8220;This was a mistake by many people at Twitter.&#8221;
&#8220;It is definitely allowed,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Whether or not you agree with using someone’s preferred pronouns, not doing so is at most rude and certainly breaks no laws.&#8221;
&#8220;I should note that I do personally use someone’s preferred pronouns, just as I use someone’s preferred name, simply from the standpoint of good manners,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;However, for the same reason, I object to rude behavior, ostracism or threats of violence if the wrong pronoun or name is used.&#8221;

Twitter, which was taken over by Musk last October, seemed to be the perfect place to celebrate the film’s success and give more people an opportunity to view it for free. Last week, The Daily Wire began streaming all of its shows on the platform after censorship campaigns from YouTube and TikTok targeted Daily Wire hosts. But despite the recent changes at Twitter, Boreing said the company fell back into its old ways when pressed on its reason for labeling “What is a Woman?” as “hateful conduct.” 
“We reminded Twitter they removed ‘misgendering’ from their policy, that the term ‘misgendering’ itself is misleading, and that enforcing such a policy places them on the side of the most radical elements in society — the side most opposed to their commitment to free speech,” the Daily Wire co-CEO tweeted. “Twitter clarified they only removed ‘misgendering’ from their policy because they didn’t need to be that specific, but that they still consider ‘misgendering’ abuse and harassment. They gave us the opportunity to edit the film to comply. We declined.”
“When we asked how much they would limit the visibility if we posted the film anyway, Twitter replied that our own followers would not be able to see it in their feeds. This, they said, is part of their ‘speech not reach’ policy.”
Musk, who received constant criticism from the Left after buying Twitter, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/musk-in-talks-to-name-nbcuniversal-executive-and-top-world-economic-forum-official-as-new-twitter-ceo-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">named Linda Yaccarino</a>, an NBC Universal executive and World Economic Forum official as the company’s new CEO earlier this month, a move that worried conservatives who had high hopes Twitter would offer both sides on the political spectrum a fair medium for debate.
“[Musk] is not beholden to conservatives. He has the right to run his business as he sees fit. But if Twitter is going to throttle one side of one of the most important debates facing society, it cannot claim to champion free speech,” Boreing said. “I hope [Musk] will reconsider this terrible policy.” 
The Daily Wire will still stream “What is a Woman?” at 8:00 p.m. ET Thursday on its <a href="https://twitter.com/realDailyWire?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter page</a>, and a Daily Wire Twitter space will start 30 minutes before the film begins.

Musk made the remarks during an interview with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/babylon-bee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Babylon Bee</a> published on Twitter on Wednesday. Twitter’s previous censorship of The Babylon Bee was one of the company&#8217;s actions that sparked Musk’s interest in buying Twitter.
Musk said it was important for the company to eventually start getting into financial services because it&#8217;s a vital aspect of freedom.
&#8220;That&#8217;s actually an important part of freedom as well,&#8221; he said. &#8220;If those doing, you know, the money exchange or running the money system, can stop people who disagree with them politically, that&#8217;s a huge problem. I mean, so that happened in Canada with the trucker strike, where people were being like, basically, financially ostracized from society for just being a peaceful strike.&#8221;
&#8220;And you know, I saw some strange things with PayPal, where they were like, suspending accounts for what appeared to be political reasons,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;Money is a form of information. So I think it&#8217;s important that we have within the bounds of the law, that we enable freedom of flow of money, which is full of information.&#8221;
Musk said that he eventually wants the platform to evolve into a &#8220;full array of financial services, full array of communications, encrypted communications, voice, video, everything.&#8221;
He said that the company will need to be rebranded as &#8220;X.”
&#8220;In general, the goal here is like, let&#8217;s just make sure we take the actions that strengthen the pillars of democracy and further civilization,&#8221; he said. &#8220;You know, we want to have a future we can look forward to, that we&#8217;re excited about the future, not one we&#8217;re sad about it. Civilization is more fragile than people realize. If you study the rise and fall of civilizations in history, you know, when they&#8217;re at the top, then they would think they&#8217;re gonna fall.&#8221;

Twitter owner <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elon Musk</a> revealed during an interview this week that engineers at the social media company recently discovered a line of code more than decade old that would suppress tweets if they contained specific words.
Musk made the remarks during an interview with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/babylon-bee">The Babylon Bee</a> published on Twitter on Wednesday. Twitter’s previous censorship of The Babylon Bee was one of the company&#8217;s actions that sparked Musk’s interest in buying Twitter.
&#8220;One of the craziest things you did when you took over Twitter was start releasing the Twitter files,&#8221; Kyle Mann, editor-in-chief of The Babylon Bee, said to Musk. &#8220;Who takes over a company and then says, &#8216;Look, how horrible all this stuff is that&#8217;s going on&#8217;?”
&#8220;If we&#8217;re not going to expose the things that were done wrong, why should people believe us in the future? That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re trying to be as transparent as possible,&#8221; Musk responded. &#8220;Don&#8217;t take my word for it – literally look at the algorithm, you should be able to recreate the results that you see on Twitter using that algorithm.&#8221;
&#8220;So we&#8217;re trying to make sure that everything is brought to light, not just so there&#8217;s no hidden layers or anything,&#8221; Musk added. &#8220;We just discovered last week some hidden layer of censorship that was written in 2012.&#8221;
Musk said that while &#8220;&#8216;censorship&#8217; is probably the wrong word&#8221; to describe the code, Twitter had a list of words it would use to evaluate Tweets.
&#8220;If you put &#8216;suck&#8217; in a tweet, then it does not get amplified on the platform,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;And that was literally code from like 2012. We found this relic of code last week.&#8221;
Musk confirmed the single line of code was being applied to all tweets, noting that there were about a thousand words on the list that, if used in a tweet, would suppress that tweet.

Twitter owner <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elon Musk</a> explained during an interview this week why the political Left is no longer funny, saying that it&#8217;s because they no longer believe in things that are true.
Musk made the remarks during an interview with the Babylon Bee that was released in full on Wednesday. The interview came after Twitter&#8217;s previous censorship of the Babylon Bee was one of the things that sparked Musk&#8217;s interest in buying the company.
&#8220;What do you like to watch in terms of comedy and entertainment?&#8221; Kyle Mann, Editor-in-chief of the Babylon Bee, asked Musk. &#8220;I know you share a lot of memes and, you know, obviously comment on some Babylon Bee articles and stuff like that. You commented, you tweeted one time about how wokeness is destroying comedy &#8230; it was, you can&#8217;t write come comedy from a leftist place of wokeness because there&#8217;s no truth claim. I&#8217;m butchering it.&#8221;
&#8220;The essence of a lot of comedy is a revealed truth, like a hidden truth that people understand, intuitively or explicitly,&#8221; Musk responded. &#8220;And there&#8217;s that sort of moment of reveal, you know, kernel of truth, of often unacknowledged truth. And in that unacknowledged truth is the humor.&#8221;
&#8220;So if you&#8217;re premised on a lie, you can no longer be funny, because there&#8217;s no revealed truth,&#8221; he added. &#8220;And this is, you know, why a lot of people on the Left have no sense of humor. They&#8217;re not funny. And if they&#8217;re, if there&#8217;s so many no fly zones, you know, that you have to, you have to avoid all the time then &#8230; there&#8217;s nothing left to make fun about.&#8221;

Far left Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) expressed her disgust in a <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2023/05/30/fake-aoc-twitter-account-musk-00099319" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweet</a> on Tuesday over a viral Twitter account that parodies the congresswoman.
The account, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody), <a href="https://nypost.com/2023/05/30/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-warns-twitter-of-parody-account-elevated-by-elon-musk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">gained steam</a> after Twitter boss Elon Musk interacted with a tweet it posted which jokingly remarked, “This might be the wine talking, but I’ve got a crush on <a href="https://twitter.com/elonmusk">@elonmusk</a>,” to which the tech billionaire responded with a fire emoji.
The New York Democrat <a href="https://twitter.com/AOC/status/1663599965698916371" target="_blank" rel="noopener">informed</a> her Twitter followers, “FYI there’s a fake account on here impersonating me and going viral. The Twitter CEO has engaged it, boosting visibility. It is releasing false policy statements and gaining spread. I am assessing with my team how to move forward. In the meantime, be careful of what you see.&#8221;
The account was created in 2018 under the same parody theme, enjoying moderate success until the account went offline in May 2019. It began posting again on May 22 this year, with hundreds of tweets in the past week.
Some of the <a href="https://twitter.com/AOCpress" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highlights</a> of parody account include:

The account’s blue checkmark, offered to Twitter Blue subscribers for $8 a month, was temporarily removed on Tuesday for an unknown reason, <a href="https://twitter.com/AOCpress/status/1663644878092263426" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to</a> the account owner. It was <a href="https://twitter.com/AOCpress/status/1663654446541201410" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reinstated</a> several hours later. Many have speculated that the parody account might have violated the Twitter Blue terms of service as being “misleading and deceptive,” but many have pointed out that AOC’s Twitter account has millions more followers and a gray check mark given to all “government or multilateral” representatives.

This week, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis decided to announce his 2024 presidential candidacy on Twitter Spaces, the newest feature on Elon Musk’s Twitter. Musk himself would be co-hosting the event, giving DeSantis access to Musk’s 141 million Twitter followers. Only after the Twitter launch will DeSantis begin the more typical campaigning, embarking on a series of campaign events across the nation.
DeSantis’ decision represents yet another blow to the power of the legacy media. Legacy media outlets have been fighting mad that DeSantis sees no purpose in granting them long-form interviews; while he’s happy to answer their questions – and to aggressively confront them – at press conferences, he simply does not trust that legacy media will ask decent questions or edit him fairly. Instead, DeSantis has merely ignored them.
That strategy has resulted in extraordinary hew and cry from our supposed journalistic establishment. This week, Tara Palmeri, senior political correspondent for Puck News, for example, attempted to confront DeSantis with a series of obtuse questions. “I am also Italian American like you,” she said, “if that makes any difference to you at all. Why are you against Disney characters? Which one is your favorite one?” When DeSantis declined to engage, she then called him a “paper tiger – a superficially perfect test-tube Republican candidate who, on closer inspection, is probably not ready for prime time.”
But perhaps primetime is entirely the problem. After all, it is primetime television that made glitz and glamour the center of our presidential politics, gave Donald Trump billions of dollars in free media coverage in 2016, then proceeded to label Trump a threat to the republic and a probable Russian asset. It was primetime television that elevated lies about covid, turning DeSantis into the Enemy of the People while championing disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo as a hero; that endlessly trumpeted the false narrative that black Americans are at dire daily threat from police, resulting in billions of dollars of damage from race riots; that ceaselessly promotes the notion that boys can be girls and vice versa.
The same legacy media that pushed those lies now pushes a bottomless well of lies about DeSantis as well: that his wife Casey is like Lady Macbeth; that Florida has banned gay Americans by passing a “Don’t Say Gay” bill that, in reality, merely prevents the sexual indoctrination of children; that black Americans are at existential threat in the state; that books are being banned at scale.
Why, precisely, should a politician like DeSantis trust them?
He doesn’t. And now, thanks to the open forum provided by Musk, he doesn’t need to use them to promote his candidacy. He can simply go directly to the people. This is merely an extension of the strategy Donald Trump used so successfully in 2016 when his Twitter account became the most magnetic media property on the planet – only now Trump has relegated himself to Truth Social, even after Musk reinstated his Twitter account. 
In any case, the legacy media – instead of re-examining their own biases and asking just why candidates of the right refuse to appear on their air – have decided to target Musk and Twitter. They suggest that Musk is the newest threat to the republic – after all, if he weren’t, would DeSantis be using Twitter for his launch?

Republican presidential candidate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/ron-desantis" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ron DeSantis</a>&#8216; special event on Twitter Spaces Wednesday evening was &#8220;by far&#8221; the most viewed in the history of the company.
DeSantis made the announcement that he was running for president during the Twitter Space, which was hosted by Twitter owner Elon Musk and GOP donor David Sacks, a close friend of Musk&#8217;s.
&#8220;This was by far the biggest room ever held on social media,&#8221; Sacks wrote in-part on the platform. &#8220;Twitter performed great after some initial scaling challenges. Thanks Twitter Team for adapting so quickly to make history!&#8221;
Musk confirmed the news by retweeting Sacks&#8217; tweet and replying to another tweet that noted there were more than 700,000 concurrent users on the Twitter Space at one time.
Journalist Ian Miles Cheong tweeted: &#8220;Elon didn’t have any more than 200k concurrent listeners on his space with the BBC, which had around 3 million listeners after the recording went up. The space with DeSantis was at 701k and it was crashing long before it got to that number. That’s the highest it’s even been.&#8221;

DeSantis filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission earlier in the afternoon and released his official launch video at 6 p.m. EST on the platform, which glitched initially as hundreds of thousands of users attempted to tune in.
&#8220;Our border is a disaster. Crime infests our cities. The federal government makes it harder for families to make ends meet. And the president flounders,&#8221; DeSantis said in the video. &#8220;But decline is a choice. Success is attainable. And freedom is worth fighting for.&#8221;
&#8220;Righting the ship requires restoring sanity to our society, normalcy to our communities, and integrity to our institutions. Truth must be our foundation — and common sense can no longer be an uncommon virtue. In Florida, we proved that it can be done,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;We chose facts over fear, education over indoctrination, law and order over rioting and disorder. DeSantis’ campaign is expected to be largely centered around his achievements as governor for the state of Florida, dubbed the “Florida Blueprint,” and on how he can transfer that experience to the national level as President of the United States. While <a href="https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2024/president/us/2024_republican_presidential_nomination-7548.html">recent polls</a> have shown former President Donald Trump holding sizable leads over the rest of the field, the DeSantis team hopes to close the gap as his campaign fully kicks into gear.
The governor really began to rise in prominence in the Republican Party as result of his handling of the COVID pandemic, which included bucking the Trump administration&#8217;s lead public health voice in its pandemic policy, Dr. Anthony Fauci, and rejecting draconian &#8220;lockdown&#8221; measures. As a result, the state led the country in net-in migration over the last couple of years.
DeSantis has largely worked in concert with the state’s legislature in implementing a conservative agenda. Some of the key legislative initiatives <a href="https://www.flgov.com">his office</a> has highlighted include several children- and school-related laws, including banning permanent transgender surgical procedures on children, barring gender identity politics in schools, and prohibiting sexually explicit adult performances in front of children. DeSantis has also signed laws prohibiting institutions from spending federal or state dollars on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and he has supported expanding school choice options in the state.
Another focus of DeSantis&#8217; administration has been working against the <a href="https://www.flgov.com/2023/05/02/governor-ron-desantis-signs-legislation-to-protect-floridians-financial-future-economic-liberty/">environmental, social, and corporate governance</a> (ESG) movement, which the administration calls &#8220;a worldwide effort to inject woke political ideology across the financial sector, placing politics above the fiduciary duty to make the best financial decisions for beneficiaries.&#8221; One particular corporation that has played prominently in his administration is Disney, which the governor stripped of its special status in the state.
DeSantis has also recently signed a heartbeat bill into law that bans abortion the moment that a heartbeat can be detected — a move that former President Trump called &#8220;<a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/trump-hits-desantis-abortion-suggests-6-week-abortion-ban-too-harsh">too harsh,</a>&#8221; saying he is a &#8220;believer in exceptions.&#8221;
Of the 113 Republicans in the Florida legislature, 99 of them endorsed DeSantis for president last week while one, state sen. Joe Gruters, endorsed the former president. While Gruters is backing Trump, he&#8217;s also noted that Florida&#8217;s move toward conservatism in the last few years has been pronounced. “We’ve had conservative leadership in Florida for the past 23 years, but we’ve passed more conservative bills in the past two years than the previous 20, and more this year than the past 22,” he said. “It’s a rocket ship, a steam engine.”
James Uthmeier, a former official in the Trump administration who now serves as DeSantis’ chief-of-staff, said he’s never seen someone get as hands-on as DeSantis when it comes to crafting legislation and getting it passed. “He sits and talks through the nitty-gritty of policy and the budget,” Uthmeier said. “He’s ingrained in the process in a way I haven’t seen working in the Trump Administration or with other public officials.”

Musk, who also serves as CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, said he acquired Twitter at the end of last year in order to reserve a corner of the public square for open dialogue. He commented in a virtual <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PDy7s1SDDn4&amp;t=76s" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with the Wall Street Journal CEO Council that the process of purchasing Twitter felt like he was “teleported into a plane that’s plunging to the ground with its engines on fire.”
“We had to do some pretty heavy-handed cost cutting,” he remarked. “If we get lucky, we might be cash flow positive next month, but it remains to be seen.”
Musk dismissed all but 1,500 of the 8,000 employees who worked at Twitter when he acquired the firm. He revealed that the company would once again “start adding people” as they keep overall headcount near the current threshold of 1,500 employees, noting that the firm initially had only “one person with an accelerator” for every “nine with a set of brakes.”
“At any given company, there are people who help move things forward and people who sort of try to slam the brakes,” he continued. “We introduced more functionality in the last six months than Twitter has in the last six years.”

One month after Daily Wire co-CEO Jeremy Boreing revealed a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/daily-wire-co-ceo-reveals-secret-cancel-blitz-against-matt-walsh-brett-cooper-michael-knowles">cancelation blitz</a> against podcast hosts Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles, and Brett Cooper, the conservative media company announced Tuesday that all DailyWire+ shows will be streamed on Twitter.
Beginning Tuesday, May 30, all of The Daily Wire’s top-ranked shows will stream for free on Twitter, the largest social media platform that refuses to allow leftist censors to gatekeep content based on politics.

Boreing revealed in April that tech giants YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok had targeted Daily Wire hosts for “capricious” fact-checks, demonetizations, and bans. As a result of the censorship, The Daily Wire announced that “The Matt Walsh Show” would begin streaming on Twitter. The move was a success. In less than a month on Twitter, “The Matt Walsh Show” had 7.4 million video views, 24 million impressions, and the show’s account gained 140,000 followers. 
While Boreing blasted leftist media companies like YouTube and Meta, he praised Elon Musk’s Twitter for its dedication to free speech.

A California Democrat congresswoman attempted to sink an FBI whistleblower by producing a random tweet with the same name, was enlightened that the account was someone else’s, then still insisted on linking the whistleblower with the wrong account, prompting a hilarious troll from Matt Gaetz (R-FL).
Rep. Linda Sanchez confronted whistleblower and former FBI agent Marcus Allen as part of the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee hearing on the weaponization of the Federal Government.
“Mr. Allen, have you ever used Twitter, yes or no?” Sanchez queried.
“I have utilized Twitter, yes, ma’am,” Allen replied.
“Okay. And is your account @MarcusA97050645?” Sanchez proceeded confidently, only to have Allen answer, “That is absolutely not my account, ma’am.”

Allen, along with former FBI agent Stephen Friend, has claimed he was retaliated against for his actions regarding the FBI’s investigation of the events of January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol. Both men had their security clearances revoked this month.
FBI acting assistant director Christopher Dunham wrote to Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH), the head of the House Judiciary Committee, that Allen “failed to provide relevant information to an FBI Special Agent (SA) regarding subjects who were allegedly involved in criminal activity at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021,” The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/05/17/fbi-agents-testify-security-clearances/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Dunham claimed Allen expressed “sympathy for persons or organizations that advocate, threaten or use force of violence … in an effort to prevent federal government personnel from performing their official duties.”
Allen reputedly sent an email that linked to a website stating that “federal law enforcement had some degree of infiltration among the crowds gathered at the Capitol,” The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/05/17/us/politics/fbi-security-clearance-jan-6.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">stated</a>.
