Daily Wire co-founder and co-CEO Jeremy Boreing discussed the details of his phone call with an owner of Podcast Movement after the trade association apologized for the “harm” caused by Ben Shapiro’s presence at their annual conference last week.

During The Daily Wire’s “Backstage” show Wednesday, Boreing said the co-owner attempted to paint the apology as non-political, but The Daily Wire “god-king” then read from portions of Podcast Movement’s tweets that clearly showed the opposite.

“He said this was not in any way political. And when he said it, I’m embarrassed to say it, I just got so adrenalized and so upset,” Boreing said. “And I just started reading from the tweets … ‘The pain that will be with us forever, the harm caused by his very presence.’ You’re saying that isn’t political?”

The Podcast Movement co-owner began the phone call by claiming the conference has a policy “that the talent not appear,” Boreing said. Shapiro’s visit to the event made other event sponsors upset, according to the Podcast Movement owner, as told by Boreing.

“Podcast hosts appear on all their panels!” the Daily Wire co-CEO said. “It’s just nonsense. The whole fracking conference is for podcasters.”

Podcast Movement, which is the world’s largest annual conference for the podcast industry, bowed to the woke demands of one angry person last week. The group wrote in its apology that Shapiro’s presence caused “harm” to some in attendance and promised to be “more careful” when considering sponsors in the future.

“Hi folks, we owe you an apology before sessions kick off for the day,” Podcast Movement tweeted Thursday morning. “Yesterday afternoon, Ben Shapiro briefly visited the PM22 expo area near The Daily Wire booth. Though he was not registered or expected, we take full responsibility for the harm done by his presence.”

Boreing unloaded on Podcast Movement for what he called “unadulterated bigotry” in its decision to cave to woke demands and apologize for Shapiro’s presence at its event.

“There’s no one else in the world who would be subjected to this type of bigotry, and you get away with” said Boreing. “You could not treat a black man this way, you could not treat a lesbian woman this way, you could not treat anyone on the Left in this way … but you can treat a conservative this way with unadulterated bigotry on the page.”
