A leftist&#8217;s attempt to get on the ballot in Ohio as a Republican was shot down by the U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday.
Samuel Ronan, who previously ran for chair of the Democratic National Committee, filed to run for Ohio&#8217;s 15th Congressional District and challenge Republican Rep. Mike Carey in the GOP primary. Ronan admitted his candidacy was part of a ploy to run Democrats in &#8220;deep red&#8221; districts, according to documents filed in U.S. District Court, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/supreme-court-blocks-candidate-after-alleged-gop-infiltration-scheme-exposed?lid=h4ig0qgow6sl">reported</a>.
In one social media post, Ronan <a href="https://www.courthousenews.com/supreme-court-keeps-former-dnc-candidate-off-ohio-gop-primary-ballot/">wrote</a>, “Leftists need to infiltrate Republican spaces and primary them.”
The leftist candidate was tossed from the GOP primary ballot by Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose, who called Ronan&#8217;s attempt to run as a Republican &#8220;political transgenderism.&#8221; Chief U.S. District Judge Sarah D. Morrison upheld LaRose&#8217;s decision, saying that Ronan&#8217;s declaration to run as a Republican was fraudulent. The Supreme Court refused to intervene in the case on Thursday, with none of the justices dissenting from the decision to keep the lower court&#8217;s order in place.
&#8220;This is political transgenderism, and it’s a longstanding problem with Ohio’s primary process,&#8221; LaRose <a href="https://x.com/FrankLaRose/status/2042371793080529073">said</a>. &#8220;We had to go all the way to the nation’s highest court to fight a blatant attempt by a self-declared Democrat to hijack a Republican primary contest.&#8221;
When he declared to run as a Republican, Ronan also promised to abide by the Republican Party&#8217;s principles, and his candidacy was certified by the Franklin County Board of Elections in February. Ohio Republican voter Mark Schare, however, noticed that Ronan had publicly expressed his intention to run in the GOP primary while still pushing leftist views and filed a protest with the elections board.
LaRose stepped in to toss Ronan off the ballot after the Franklin County Board of Elections tied along party lines in a vote to decide whether Ronan could stay on the ballot.
“As required by Ohio law, Ronan declared that he was ‘a member of the Republican Party’ and if elected he would ‘support and abide by the principles enunciated by the Republican Party,’&#8221; LaRose wrote. &#8220;But even after signing this form, Ronan continued to push his vision that Democrats like himself should primary Republicans in deep-red districts to ‘get a foot in the door.’”
Ronan denied that his candidacy was &#8220;some kind of trick&#8221; and mentioned that Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and Donald Trump were also former Democrats. Ronan&#8217;s attorney claimed that Rep. Carey was allowed to &#8220;surreptitiously sabotage Ronan’s ballot access by secretly enlisting the Ohio Republican Party to protest Ronan.” The attorney also argued that one of the election board members should have recused herself since she is a top official in the Ohio Republican Party.
LaRose called for Ohio to adopt a closed primary system, which requires voters to register with a party before they cast a ballot. Ohio&#8217;s current primary system is partially open, meaning that voters are not required to register with a party before the election, but they must request either a Republican or Democratic ballot.
&#8220;This individual took advantage of an open primary process that’s far too vulnerable to trickery and fraud and used it to advance his dishonest campaign to &#8216;run Democrats as Republicans,'&#8221; LaRose added. &#8220;We stopped it this time, but it’s time to adopt a closed primary process and partisan voter registration before this happens again.&#8221;

Trump published a nearly 500-word post on Truth Social blasting his former supporters for their attacks on the administration, which have gained the attention of legacy media outlets and leftists.
&#8220;I know why Tucker Carlson, Megyn Kelly, Candace Owens, and Alex Jones have all been fighting me for years, especially by the fact that they think it is wonderful for Iran, the Number One State Sponsor of Terror, to have a Nuclear Weapon — Because they have one thing in common, Low IQs. All four of the commentators have become increasingly critical of the president over his decision to launch &#8220;Operation Epic Fury&#8221; and attack Iran. Earlier this week, Carlson urged U.S. military members to refuse Trump&#8217;s orders and claimed that Trump was considering using a weapon of mass destruction &#8220;on the population of Iran.&#8221; Kelly said on Wednesday that Trump was &#8220;bamboozled&#8221; by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and blasted the president as &#8220;too weak&#8221; and &#8220;too gullible&#8221; to push back on Netanyahu&#8217;s argument to attack Iran.
On Sunday, Owens called the Trump administration &#8220;satanic&#8221; and said, &#8220;satanic Zionists occupy the White House and Congress.&#8221; She also called for &#8220;Mad King Trump&#8221; to be removed from office. Jones has similarly called for Trump to be removed from office through the 25th Amendment.
&#8220;Look at their past, look at their record. They don’t have what it takes, and they never did!&#8221; Trump said of the four podcasters. &#8220;They’ve all been thrown off Television, lost their Shows, and aren’t even invited on TV because nobody cares about them, they’re NUT JOBS, TROUBLEMAKERS, and will say anything necessary for some &#8216;free&#8217; and cheap publicity. The Justice Department opened an investigation into the NFL over potential anticompetitive practices and harm to consumers as the league licenses more games to streaming networks.
The investigation, which was first <a href="https://www.wsj.com/sports/football/nfl-investigation-justice-department-8835a936?mod=hp_lead_pos2">reported</a> by The Wall Street Journal, comes as NFL fans and some lawmakers have raised concerns about the increasing cost to watch games as the league licenses more games to streaming platforms, such as Netflix, Prime Video, and Peacock. While The Journal stated that the exact nature of the investigation wasn&#8217;t immediately clear, CBS News <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nfl-justice-department-anticompetitive-tactics-licenses/">cited</a> sources who told the outlet that the investigation was related to the NFL&#8217;s leap into streaming.
One anonymous government official told CBS News that the probe is focused on “about affordability for consumers and creating an even playing field for providers.&#8221; The Daily Wire reached out to the Justice Department, seeking comment.
The NFL said on Thursday that its &#8220;media distribution model is the most fan and broadcaster-friendly in the entire sports and entertainment industry.&#8221;
&#8220;With over 87% of our games on free, broadcast television, including 100% of games in the markets of the competing teams, the NFL has for decades put our fans front and center in how we distribute our content,&#8221; the league office added. &#8220;The 2025 season was our most viewed since 1989 and reflects the strength of the NFL distribution model and its wide availability to all fans.&#8221;
The Sports Broadcasting Act of 1961 grants antitrust exemptions to sports leagues, allowing them to package league-wide TV deals that protect revenue sharing and prevent small market teams from being forced to strike major TV deals. With sports leagues such as the NFL and NBA agreeing to move many live broadcasts behind the paywalls of streaming services, some critics argue that the practice could be running afoul of the 1961 law.
&#8220;The modern distribution environment differs substantially from the conditions that precipitated this exemption,&#8221; <a href="https://x.com/senmikelee/status/2042254629715489176">said</a> Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), who chairs the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights. &#8220;Instead of a small number of free broadcast networks, the NFL now licenses games simultaneously to subscription streaming platforms, premium cable networks, and technology companies operating under different business models.&#8221;
Games remain free to watch on local stations in the markets of the teams playing, but the most ardent NFL fans watch multiple games a week of teams outside their local market. Many NFL fans have expressed frustration that the NFL&#8217;s agreements with multiple streaming platforms complicates viewing and makes it more expensive to watch the NFL.
During the 2025-2026 season, 20 games were available exclusively on streaming platforms, including two Christmas Day games that were streamed on Netflix. The league has signaled that even more games will move to streaming platforms in the near future, including playoff matchups. In a letter to the Justice Department last month, Senator Lee wrote, &#8220;To watch every NFL game during the past season, football fans spent almost $1,000 on cable and streaming subscriptions.&#8221;
The NFL&#8217;s streaming craze has shown no signs of slowing down, and the NFL is expected to push for more partnerships with digital platforms beginning in 2029, when the league has the ability to opt out of some of its current broadcast TV contracts.

The U.S. fertility rate reached a record low in 2025, continuing a troubling trend as annual deaths are projected to exceed annual births in America within the next decade.
Total births per 1,000 American women aged 15-44 dropped to 53.1 last year, according to data released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Last year also marked the first time in U.S. history that women in their late 30s had higher birth rates than women in their 20s, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/us-news/why-the-u-s-fertility-rate-has-hit-a-record-low-13e7c2f8?mod=e2tw">reported</a>.
Recent <a href="https://x.com/BradWilcoxIFS/status/2042211547343450313/photo/1">projections</a> from the Congressional Budget Office warn that, beginning in 2033, there will be more deaths reported in the United States than births. After 2032, U.S. population growth will be entirely dependent on net immigration, according to the Congressional Budget Office&#8217;s projections. The U.S. fertility rate now stands at 1.57 births per woman, below the replacement level of 2.1 and among the lowest in the world. Data from 2023 showed that only eight countries, including Russia and China, had lower fertility rates than the United States. South Korea has the world&#8217;s lowest fertility rate at 0.80 births per woman in 2025, which was a slight <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/02/06/asia/south-korea-population-fertility-rate-intl-hnk-dst">increase</a> from 0.75 in 2024 and 0.72 in 2023. The United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada, and Spain also have lower fertility rates than the United States.
A big part of the declining U.S. fertility rate is the continued sharp decrease in births among young women and teenage girls. Since 2010, the birth rate among women between the ages of 20 and 24 dropped from nearly 100 births per 1,000 women to just over 50 births. For girls between 15 and 19, the birth rate has plummeted 72% since 2007.
&#8220;People are waiting longer to enter parenthood and probably want to make sure that things are set in their lives before they do so. There might be a lot of uncertainty, and that might not be good for a society in general,” Wendy Manning, co-director of Bowling Green State University&#8217;s National Center for Family &amp; Marriage Research, told the Journal.
The Trump administration has expressed concern about America&#8217;s declining birth rate and has enacted policies to encourage more Americans to have babies. President Donald Trump&#8217;s &#8220;Big, Beautiful Bill,&#8221; passed by Congress last year, sets up $1,000 Trump accounts for babies born between 2025 and 2028 and increases the child tax credit.
President Trump also signed an executive order in February 2025, seeking ways to lower costs for in vitro fertilization.

President Donald Trump raged Thursday morning that America&#8217;s allies fail to understand &#8220;anything unless they have pressure placed upon them,&#8221; once again taking aim at NATO after his meeting with the alliance&#8217;s secretary-general.
Trump targeted NATO in two social media posts shortly after his Wednesday meeting at the White House with NATO chief Mark Rutte, who traveled to Washington, D.C., following Trump&#8217;s renewed threats to pull the United States from the alliance.

Trump&#8217;s frustration with NATO has been building for months, particularly after several alliance members pushed back on his idea to acquire Greenland. Tensions have intensified more recently as some allies have rejected the president&#8217;s calls to back U.S. efforts to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Rutte met with Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday to discuss the alliance and Europe&#8217;s stance on the Iran war.
“He is clearly disappointed with many NATO allies, and I can see his point,” Rutte told CNN after the meeting.
Some NATO members — including the United Kingdom, France, and Spain — initially blocked U.S. aircraft from using their military bases for offensive strikes during &#8220;Operation Epic Fury.&#8221; The U.K. and France later allowed the United States limited use of bases for defensive purposes only, while Spain has remained a vocal opponent of the U.S. military operation.
&#8220;The large majority, including France, of European nations, has been doing what they committed they would do in a case like this,&#8221; Rutte said. &#8220;So Europe as a platform of power projection for the United States was in full play over the last six weeks. And yes, it is true that not all European nations lived up to those commitments, and I totally understand that [Trump] is disappointed about it.&#8221;
Rutte has been one of Trump&#8217;s biggest cheerleaders on the world stage in recent months and has repeatedly praised the U.S. president for forcing European nations to increase defense spending. The NATO secretary-general told CNN, &#8220;This was a meeting between friends because we like each other. I really admire his leadership &#8230; and NATO allies are with him when it comes to taking out, degrading the ballistic missile capacity of the Iranians.&#8221;
&#8220;The whole world is safer by this president degrading those capabilities,&#8221; Rutte added.
The United States is, by far, the largest financial supporter of NATO, covering more than 60% of the alliance&#8217;s defense spending, <a href="https://www.atlanticcouncil.org/commentary/trackers-and-data-visualizations/nato-defense-spending-tracker/#:~:text=United%20States%20$980%2C000%2C000%2C000%20NATO%20Europe,Kingdom%20France%20Italy%20Poland%20Spain">according</a> to the Atlantic Council. Last year, the United States spent roughly $980 billion on NATO&#8217;s defense.
Amid Trump&#8217;s pressure and repeated threats to withdraw from NATO, member states have ramped up their defense spending commitments. At last year&#8217;s NATO summit, allies agreed to increase their military spending to 5% of GDP by 2035.

&#8220;I understand one of the individual&#8217;s visas was revoked by Secretary Rubio, and they were deported by ICE because they had a fraudulent asylum claim,&#8221; Leavitt told The Daily Wire. &#8220;That is against the laws of the United States, so anyone who is here illegally or fraudulently is subject to our nation&#8217;s immigration laws and will be removed from our country. And I know this continues to be a top priority for the State Department working in conjunction with the Department of Homeland Security.&#8221;

The son of one of the top spokeswomen for Iran&#8217;s propaganda machine is also living in the United States and is working as an adjunct associate professor at The Chicago School in Los Angeles, The New York Post reported. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/his-mother-raised-him-on-irans-regime-propaganda-now-hes-teaching-your-kids">Eissa Hashemi</a>, 43, is the son of the former Iranian vice president for Women and Family Affairs Masoumeh Ebtekar, who was better known as “Screaming Mary.”
Ebtekar was the leading spokeswoman for the Iranian radicals who took 66 American hostages in 1979. Hashemi has lived in the United States since 2010 and has never publicly denounced his mother&#8217;s actions.
Last September, the Trump administration deported at least 55 Iranians back to their home country, which sparked fear among many in the Iranian diaspora who had fled the country to escape persecution under the radical Islamic regime. As many as 400 Iranians in America were expected to be sent back to Iran last year.

Prosecutors plan to issue a subpoena later this month to the Palm Beach, Florida, pharmacy used by Tiger Woods as they seek more information on the medications prescribed to the legendary golfer and whether they included any warnings about driving.
Prosecutors in Martin County, Florida, said in a court filing that they will issue a subpoena to Lewis Pharmacy on April 22 as they seek to find out if the drugs included a warning about “operating a motor vehicle while taking the prescription,” The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/08/sports/florida-prosecutors-subpoena-tiger-woods-for-all-medication-records-in-dui-case/">reported</a>. Two hydrocodone pills were found on Woods when he was arrested after crashing into a truck and trailer in South Florida in late March. He was subsequently charged with DUI and property damage.
The subpoena will seek records on Woods&#8217; medication from January 1 to March 27, the date of the crash. Prosecutors are seeking information on the “date and time prescription was filled, type of prescription, number of pills in each prescription, the dosage amount, and all special instructions,” according to the Post. The golfer&#8217;s defense team has 10 days to object to the subpoena.
A breathalyzer test showed no alcohol in Woods&#8217; system, but a deputy described him as “lethargic and slow,” with “bloodshot and glassy” eyes and “extremely dilated” pupils, according to the arrest affidavit.
“So at this time, I do believe your normal faculties are impaired,” one of the deputies told Woods as she placed handcuffs on him, bodycam footage shows. “And you’re under the unknown substance, so at this time, you’re under arrest for DUI.”
Woods clipped the trailer of a truck as he attempted to pass it, flipping his SUV in a residential area in Jupiter, Florida. The golfing legend told deputies that he was distracted and had looked down at his phone before the crash. Woods also told deputies that he takes &#8220;a few&#8221; prescription medications.
Hydrocodone, which is typically taken to treat severe pain, is classified as a Schedule II controlled substance by the U.S. government. The drug is considered to be among “some of the most addictive and potentially dangerous prescription medications available.” Hydrocodone is also among the drugs that the Food and Drug Administration <a href="https://www.fda.gov/consumers/consumer-updates/some-medicines-and-driving-dont-mix#:~:text=Some%20medicines%20that%20could%20make%20driving%20dangerous,anxiety%20*%20Sleeping%20pills%20*%20Some%20antidepressants">warns</a> &#8220;could make driving dangerous.&#8221;
Woods has dealt with severe back injuries throughout his career and was involved in a serious single car crash in Los Angeles in 2021. Woods pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge and one count of refusing to submit to a lawful test after he told deputies he would not go along with a urine test.

A suspected gang member in the country illegally was shot by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in California after he attempted to use his vehicle to run over the federal officers on Tuesday, according to ICE Director Todd Lyons.
ICE officers stopped a vehicle near Interstate 5 in Patterson, California, to arrest Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, an 18th Street Gang member who was wanted for questioning related to a murder in El Salvador. As the federal agents approached, Hernandez &#8220;weaponized his vehicle in attempt to run an officer over,&#8221; Lyons said.
The ICE agents responded by firing defensive shots, striking Hernandez, who was hospitalized. Hernandez&#8217;s condition was unclear as of Tuesday afternoon, and it appears that no federal agents were injured.
&#8220;Following their training, our officers fired defensive shots to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and the public,&#8221; Lyons said.
The 18th Street Gang is one of the largest gangs in Los Angeles and has many members from Mexico and Central America.
Footage from the aftermath of the shooting captured by KCRA Channel 3 Sacramento showed multiple vehicles under an interstate overpass as authorities assessed the scene. The FBI&#8217;s office in Sacramento said it sent agents to the scene following the shooting.

California Governor Gavin Newsom was briefed on the shooting, with his office stating, &#8220;As is established practice, we expect our federal law enforcement partners to appropriately collaborate with state and local law enforcement as this matter is investigated.&#8221;
For the past year, Newsom has clashed with the Trump administration over ICE operations in California. Newsom has claimed that state and local authorities cooperate with ICE and hand over illegal immigrants who have been convicted of state crimes, but California law severely limits cooperation between local law enforcement and federal immigration agents.
The Stanislaus County Sheriff&#8217;s Office said that none of its deputies were involved in the traffic stop or ensuing shooting in Patterson on Tuesday.

A one-million-square-foot warehouse in Southern California went up in flames early Tuesday morning in what authorities believe was an arson attack.
The warehouse in Ontario, California, about 40 miles east of Los Angeles, belonged to personal care company Kimberly-Clark and was completely destroyed in the blaze. Around 20 people were inside when the fire first began around 12:30 a.m., but there have been no reported injuries.
One person has been arrested on suspicion of arson, according to officials.
Authorities released drone footage showing the scale of the fire.

The first fire crew responded within eight minutes of the initial call and found &#8220;light smoke throughout the structure and what they believed was a small fire being contained by the operating fire protection system or sprinkler system,&#8221; according to Ontario Deputy Fire Chief Mike Wedell. As firefighters worked to douse the flames inside the warehouse, they were &#8220;quickly overrun by fire that rapidly spread throughout this enormous warehouse,&#8221; Wedell said.
Fire crews entered the building after a warehouse worker was initially reported missing during the evacuation. The missing employee was eventually located, officials said. Ontario police identified the suspected arsonist as a male Kimberly-Clark employee, though it remains unclear whether he was the individual initially reported missing.
Some people near the warehouse said they heard a loud boom shortly before the fire broke out, ABC 7 Los Angeles <a href="https://abc7.com/post/massive-fire-tears-warehouse-ontario/18851549/">reported</a>.
&#8220;Very early on, we identified this fire as suspicious in nature,&#8221; Wedell told reporters, adding, &#8220;There was a person of interest identified from the very initial response of this incident.&#8221;
Kimberly-Clark specializes in producing hygiene paper products, including toilet paper, facial tissues, baby wipes, and feminine hygiene products.
&#8220;There&#8217;s a large fire load of paper products inside of this building,&#8221; the deputy fire chief added. Fire crews will remain on the scene throughout Tuesday as they continue to extinguish the blaze.

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is slated to testify before the House Oversight Committee on his relationship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, becoming yet another high-profile person to be grilled by lawmakers investigating Epstein&#8217;s child sex crimes.
Gates is scheduled to appear before the committee for a transcribed interview on June 10, according to multiple reports. The GOP-led committee sent a letter to Gates on March 3, asking him to meet with lawmakers for an interview.
&#8220;While he never witnessed or participated in any of Epstein&#8217;s illegal conduct, he is looking forward to answering all the committee&#8217;s questions to support their important work,&#8221; a Gates spokesman <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bill-gates-jeffrey-epstein-house-oversight-committee/">said</a> on Tuesday.
Gates developed a relationship with Epstein beginning in 2011, three years after Epstein pled guilty to soliciting a minor for prostitution. Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) wrote in a letter to Gates that the committee believes the tech billionaire has &#8220;information that will assist in its investigation.&#8221;

Epstein knew about Gates&#8217; sexual encounters, and Gates was mentioned multiple times by Epstein in emails released by the Justice Department late last year.
One of the emails appears to be a draft of a resignation letter from Gates’ former science adviser, Boris Nikolic, that Epstein sent to himself. In the email, the writer admits to “facilitating … illegal trysts, with married women” and helping Gates “get drugs, in order to deal with the consequences of sex with russian [sic] girls.” Another email states that Gates contracted a sexually transmitted disease from the affairs with Russian women and alleged that he intended to &#8220;surreptitiously&#8221; slip antibiotics to his then-wife, Melinda Gates.
Gates has vehemently denied those allegations and said that Epstein sought to &#8220;entrap and defame&#8221; him because he was frustrated that Gates broke off their relationship. Bill and Melinda Gates divorced in 2021, a process that began shortly after reports of Bill’s close relationship with Epstein began circulating in 2019.
“To give her credit, she was always kind of skeptical about the Epstein thing,” Gates said of his ex-wife during his apologetic remarks to staff in February.
Gates told his foundation employees that the two Russian women with whom he had affairs were not victims of Epstein’s sex-trafficking scheme. The Russian bridge player with whom Gates had sexual relations was in her 20s when she met the Microsoft co-founder. She also met Epstein in 2013, and Epstein reportedly paid for the woman to attend school for a software coding course. In 2017, Epstein asked Gates to reimburse him for the college course.
“I did nothing illicit. I saw nothing illicit,” Gates told his staff, adding, “To be clear I never spent any time with victims, the women around [Epstein].”
Gates has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s sex crimes.
The House Oversight Committee has already questioned former President Bill Clinton, who flew on Epstein&#8217;s infamous jet numerous times, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over their connection to Epstein. The committee is also set to grill U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick on May 6. Lutnick was once Epstein&#8217;s neighbor in New York City, and he visited Epstein on his private Caribbean island with his family in late 2012.

President Donald Trump ripped podcast host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday after Carlson accused him of proposing a war crime in his warning to Iran and urged American military members to refuse the president&#8217;s orders.
In an episode posted Monday afternoon, Carlson suggested Trump was considering using a weapon of mass destruction &#8220;on the population of Iran&#8221; and encouraged administration officials and service members to push back. Trump responded by dismissing his former ally in remarks to <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/07/us-news/trump-tears-into-tucker-carlson-over-iran-war-claims/">The New York Post</a>.
“Tucker’s a low-IQ person that has absolutely no idea what’s going on,” Trump said. “He calls me all the time; I don’t respond to his calls. I don’t deal with him. I like dealing with smart people, not fools.”
Carlson&#8217;s criticism centered on Trump&#8217;s profanity-laced Easter Sunday <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-issues-the-most-blistering-ultimatum-to-iran-in-history">message</a> to Iran, in which the president warned that U.S. forces would destroy Iran&#8217;s bridges and power plants if the regime did not &#8220;open the f*ckin&#8217; Strait [of Hormuz].&#8221;
Calling Trump&#8217;s comments &#8220;vile on every level,&#8221; Carlson argued they amounted to a &#8220;promise to use the U.S. military, our military, to destroy civilian infrastructure in another country,&#8221; which he claimed would constitute a war crime.
&#8220;If you work in the White House, or in the U.S. military, now is the time to say, &#8216;No, absolutely not.&#8217; And say it directly to the president, &#8216;No,'&#8221; Carlson said. &#8220;In case you&#8217;re thinking about using some weapon of mass destruction against the population of Iran &#8230; those people who are in direct contact with the president need to say, &#8216;No, I&#8217;ll resign. I&#8217;ll do whatever I can do legally to stop this because this is insane. And if given the order, I&#8217;m not carrying it out. Figure out the codes on the football yourself.'&#8221;
Carlson&#8217;s message mirrors calls made by some Democratic lawmakers late last year for military members to refuse &#8220;illegal orders&#8221; as U.S. forces conducted deadly strikes on alleged narcoterrorists in the Caribbean and Pacific.
The president&#8217;s fiery response to Carlson on Tuesday marks the latest escalation in a growing rift between Trump and Carlson. The two were still meeting as recently as January, but relations have deteriorated following American military action against Iran.
Carlson has since sharply criticized Trump&#8217;s Iran operation, calling it &#8220;absolutely disgusting and evil&#8221; and accusing the president of doing the bidding of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Trump, for his part, has dismissed Carlson in recent weeks.
“Tucker has lost his way,” Trump said in an interview with ABC News reporter Jon Karl in March. “He’s not MAGA. MAGA is saving our country. MAGA is making our country great again. MAGA is America first, and Tucker is none of those things. And Tucker is really not smart enough to understand that.”
On Tuesday morning, ahead of his 8 p.m. ET deadline for Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Trump warned of catastrophic consequences.
&#8220;A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will.&#8221;

Trump Rips Tucker Carlson After He Urges Military To Defy Orders

President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order to reshape college sports, targeting what the White House described as &#8220;an out-of-control financial arms race&#8221; driven by Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rules.
Trump&#8217;s <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2026/04/urgent-national-action-to-save-college-sports/">order,</a> signed last week, places new limits on eligibility and transfers, allowing collegiate athletes five years of eligibility and restricting most to one transfer, with an additional transfer permitted after earning a four-year degree. The order seeks to &#8220;ensure that the transfer window does not incentivize interference with athletic seasons or the academic year, or otherwise undermine the integrity of participation and competition in college athletics.&#8221;
&#8220;Fair competition cannot occur without a consistent set of rules concerning pay-for-play or player eligibility that cannot be endlessly relitigated in court,&#8221; Trump&#8217;s order states.
The policy is set to take effect on August 1 and threatens to withhold federal funding from universities that do not comply.
The order follows a series of court rulings, including a Supreme Court decision, that weakened the NCAA&#8217;s ability to restrict athletes&#8217; compensation, fueling the rapid expansion of NIL deals and a more fluid transfer portal. Under the current NIL system, athletes can move freely between programs while negotiating compensation.
The shift has increased financial pressure on universities, which the order says is &#8220;driving universities into debt, threatening to siphon resources from other sports, and damaging student-athletes’ educational and graduation opportunities.&#8221;
Trump&#8217;s order also prohibits professional athletes from returning to collegiate competition, closing a loophole that allowed some players who had played professionally in Europe or in the NBA&#8217;s G League to join college teams.
The White House argues that the current system is straining universities and could jeopardize non-revenue sports.
&#8220;Absent a comprehensive national solution, therefore, the escalating financial demands to succeed in football and basketball combined with the significantly loosened rules governing eligibility, transfers, and pay-for-play schemes may force curtailment of women’s and Olympics sports, and may even jeopardize the overall financial well-being of universities with which the Federal Government has important financial relationships,&#8221; the order continues.
College sports fans and many coaches have criticized the apparent lack of structure for the transfer portal after the introduction of NIL. Since college football and basketball players have begun receiving compensation, with some athletes negotiating massive contracts, many fans argue that major college sports have turned into semi-professional leagues.
Coaches, meanwhile, have complained that NIL paired with a wide-open transfer portal hurts player and program development. With college athletes now eligible to sign contracts, players effectively become free agents immediately after the season as they or their agents shop for more favorable contracts.
The order, which will likely face a flurry of lawsuits, urges Congress to codify the president&#8217;s policies into law and protect college sports in the long term. Courts have consistently ruled in favor of athletes on NIL matters, making it nearly impossible for the NCAA to impose restrictions on transfers and eligibility.
The &#8220;Power 4&#8221; college sports conferences lauded Trump&#8217;s action last week and renewed their calls for Congress to pass legislation addressing the issue. A piece of legislation, called the SCORE Act, was introduced in the House last summer to address some of the issues around NIL and college athlete eligibility. The bill has bipartisan support but faces scrutiny from lawmakers and has stalled in committee.
Hall-of-fame former Alabama football coach Nick Saban also praised Trump for leading the effort to enact &#8220;regulation that would help us manage and fund all sports, so that we can continue to create opportunities for young people.&#8221;
Former University of Michigan quarterback David Cone, the co-host of On3&#8217;s sports talk show &#8220;Crain &amp; Cone,&#8221; told The Daily Wire that Congress ultimately needs to act for anything to change with the current college sports structure, otherwise Trump&#8217;s order could be overturned by the courts. Still, he added that he&#8217;s skeptical Congress will take up the issue anytime soon.
&#8220;I haven&#8217;t seen anything from Congress over the last few years that tells me they&#8217;re all going to get their act together and, pun intended, pass one of these acts. I think this was a great showing by President Trump to attempt to solve some of the problems that will ultimately end up going nowhere.&#8221;
