Senator JD Vance (R-OH) took a swing at Vice President Kamala Harris after she surprised attendees at the Democratic National Convention by giving brief remarks on the first night of the event.
Vance, campaigning to be vice president alongside former President Donald Trump, shared a post on X attacking Harris’ dismal record as vice president even as she gears up to accept the Democratic Party’s 2024 presidential nomination — despite the fact that she only rose to the top of the ticket one month ago because President Joe Biden was forced out of the race.
“Kamala Harris spoke for 2 minutes last night at the DNC, which was enough time for her to list all of her successes as Vice President and still have a minute and 45 seconds to kill,” Vance said.

While the Democrats gear up for the DNC’s second evening, Vance also called out Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) — Harris’ running mate — while campaigning in Wisconsin. During a speech on crime in Kenosha, Vance hit Democrats for being soft on crime and failing to act when left-wing rioters took over their streets — and then he added a jab at Walz’s repeated embellishments of his military experience.
“My little theory about why they decided to have the convention in Chicago: Tim Walz has been going around saying that he served in war and maybe they did it in Chicago so he could accurately say he visited a combat zone.”

Vance’s remarks were clearly in jest, as Chicago was chosen for the DNC’s location long before Harris even became the presumptive nominee.
