<p>Singer and actress Katharine McPhee went off last week about the rising <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/crime">crime</a> in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/los-angeles">Los Angeles</a>, holding the &#8220;<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/woke">woke</a>&#8221; responsible.</p>
<p>McPhee, who rose to fame as American Idol&#8217;s runner-up in its fifth year, posted a news story on her social media of an elderly man being &#8220;mugged and beaten up&#8221; in Beverly Hills.</p>
<p>&#8220;I blame every single one of you woke voters,&#8221; the &#8220;My Destiny&#8221; singer wrote, <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/katherine-mcphee-blames-woke-voters-crime-beverly-hills-wear-expensive-jewelry">according</a> to Fox News. &#8220;Seniors getting beat up while walking.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Keep voting for this,&#8221; she slammed. &#8220;What a sad state this city is in.&#8221;</p>
<p>McPhee then plugged <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/progressive-democrat-takes-lead-over-former-republican-in-l-a-mayoral-primary">Rick Caruso</a>, a former Republican running for mayor of Los Angeles as a moderate Democrat.</p>
<p>&#8220;This is literally my worry and thought every time I go out now. We need [Rick Caruso],&#8221; she said. &#8220;What&#8217;s this world coming to?&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;No rings watches or anything out in LA anymore,&#8221; she added, posting screenshots of a conversation she had with a friend about their fears of being mugged.</p>
<p>Caruso, who is socially liberal, has become a favorite of wealthy celebrities in Los Angeles. Celebs from Kim Kardashian to Gwyneth Paltrow have <a href="https://www.newsweek.com/kim-kardashian-snoop-dogg-love-controversial-la-mayor-hopeful-rick-caruso-endorsements-1713135">plugged</a> the candidate on their social media accounts.</p>
<p>The Democrat is running on a message of cleaning up crime and attacking the city&#8217;s homeless problem.</p>
<p>“Los Angeles is in a crisis: Homeless, crime and corruption are uncontrolled. This is a moment for someone like Rick to come in and clean up City Hall,&#8221; Caruso Senior Advisor Peter Ragone <a href="https://www.axios.com/2022/05/29/why-la-mayors-race-matters">told</a> Axios.</p>
<p>McPhee&#8217;s politics are somewhat ambiguous. Though she&#8217;s likely socially liberal, the singer publicly blasted media-beloved Democrat Stacey Abrams during the pandemic for famously standing by masked-up kids without her mask on.</p>
<p>&#8220;What the actual hell … politicians at their finest,&#8221; McPhee <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/katharine-mcphee-stacey-abrams-mask">wrote</a>. &#8220;Mask up the children and you yourself sit without a mask. The hypocrisy continues.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;I’m sure she will say… ‘but I had my mask in my hand!’&#8221; she mocked.</p>
<p>The singer married musician and producer David Foster in 2019. Foster is reportedly pals with former President Donald Trump.</p>
<p>Notably, in 2016, Foster said he &#8220;politely&#8221; turned down Trump&#8217;s offer to play at his inauguration, The Washington Post <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/reliable-source/wp/2016/12/20/musician-david-foster-turned-down-trump-inauguration-gig-for-fear-of-angering-clinton-ites/">reported</a>.</p>
<p>“I was asked … I politely and respectfully declined,” Foster posted to social media at the time.</p>
<p>“He actually wanted to do it,” a source told the Post. “It’s a high-profile thing — but he couldn’t risk it.”</p>
