Actor Timothy Busfield has reportedly been edited out of the Amazon MGM Studios movie “You Deserve Each Other” following child sexual abuse charges being filed against him.
The move comes after NBC did the same with a new episode of “Law &amp; Order: SVU” featuring the actor. The episode with Busfield was pulled from the schedule after being slated to air January 22, per <a href="https://variety.com/2026/film/news/timothy-busfield-edited-out-you-deserve-each-other-1236634868/">Variety</a>.
Busfield stands accused of sexually assaulting twin boys beginning when they were 7 years old. The actor worked with the child actors, born in 2014, on the set of “The Cleaning Lady,” which aired on Fox from 2022 to 2025. Busfield directed some episodes and was named an executive producer. 
One of the boys identified in court documents as “SL” told Albuquerque Police Officer Marvin Brown that Busfield touched his “penis and buttocks, masking it as play” more than once. An investigation began in November 2024 when a University of New Mexico Hospital doctor reported his suspicions of sexual abuse and grooming to authorities. Investigators initially didn’t press charges, but the case was reopened in September 2025 when one of the boys reported the alleged abuse to his doctor.
The actor faced two previous sexual assault allegations in 1994 and 2012, but was never charged. Busfield recorded a video of himself professing his innocence just before turning himself in to the police earlier this month.
“You Deserve Each Other” is a romantic comedy starring Meghann Fahy and Penn Badgley and is based on Sarah Hogle’s bestselling novel of the same name. The plot involves an engaged couple who have fallen out of love and try to sabotage each other into calling off their wedding, but then fall back in love instead.
Busfield played the role of Bernie, the father of the bride, per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/timothy-busfield-edited-out-of-you-deserve-each-other-1236478036/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>. No release date was given for the project. As of Tuesday morning, Busfield’s name was removed from the <a href="https://www.imdb.com/title/tt37498811/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_cst_sm">cast list</a> on IMDb.

Virginia Democrats are once again tinkering with criminal law, this time under the soothing language of “conforming,” but the substance of <a href="https://lis.virginia.gov/bill-details/20261/HB244">HB 244</a> tells a far more troubling story.

Introduced earlier this month by Democratic delegate Vivian Watts and now sitting in the House Courts of Justice Committee, HB 244 purports to update statutory references to robbery so they align with the tiered robbery system enacted in 2021. But buried inside the bureaucratic phrasing is a sweeping reworking of how robbery is treated across sentencing, parole, and early release laws — changes that consistently tilt in one direction: lighter consequences for criminals.

The bill narrows the definition of “acts of violence” to include only the two highest degrees of robbery, excluding the lower degrees from that category. It alters how robbery offenses are scored under sentencing guidelines, potentially reducing recommended prison time. It also expands eligibility for enhanced earned sentence credits and conditional release — including retroactive application — for offenders convicted of the lesser degrees of robbery, even allowing early release for those deemed terminally ill.

Perhaps most striking, HB 244 weakens Virginia’s three-strikes law. Under the bill, mandatory life sentences would apply only to the two highest degrees of robbery, and parole eligibility could be restored if even one of the three qualifying convictions involved a lower-degree robbery. In plain English, repeat offenders once locked away for life could now see a path back onto the streets.

Supporters frame the bill as a technical fix that preserves robbery as a predicate offense and keeps higher-degree robberies classified as violent crimes. But critics see a familiar pattern: leftist criminal justice reform that sounds compassionate on paper and proves disastrous in reality.

Angela Tyler-Tann, whose son was murdered by an offender released early despite a lengthy criminal record, put it plainly: “People’s lives are not video games that can be paused or restarted. Erika Kirk’s latest court filing seeks to stop defense delays in the assassination trial of her late husband Charlie Kirk &#8212; a case in which the defendant, Tyler Robinson, has yet to enter a plea.
Erika&#8217;s attorney, Jeffrey Neiman, filed a court document asking the judge overseeing the trial to enforce Erika&#8217;s right to a speedy trial, arguing that there have been “undue delays” in the progress of the case.
&#8220;The Utah Code affords victims of a crime &#8216;the right to a speedy disposition of the charges free from unwarranted delay caused by or at the behest of the defendant,'&#8221; Neiman wrote in the filing, according to Fox News.
&#8220;This Court is tasked with the critically important function of ensuring the Defendant has a fair trial, but this Court must also do so while balancing Mrs. Kirk’s right to a speedy trial and therefore this Notice invokes Mrs. Kirk’s rights under applicable Utah Code,&#8221; the filing continued.
Neiman noted that Charlie Kirk, a prominent conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder, &#8220;believed in the importance of the United States Constitution,&#8221; and while the Constitution &#8220;guarantees criminal defendants many rights, it does not guarantee them the right to cause undue delay in the criminal justice process.&#8221;
Robinson&#8217;s defense team claims the Utah County Attorney’s Office has a conflict of interest in the case due to a Utah County prosecutor’s daughter being present at Utah Valley University when the assassination took place. They are currently working to get the office booted from the case.
The prosecution says the family member saw nothing direct and a conflict of interest has not been established. They’ve also accused the defense of stall tactics.
At Robinson&#8217;s last court appearance, Judge Tony Graf said there wasn&#8217;t sufficient evidence yet to warrant the expulsion of the office, but has notably allowed Robinson’s team to begin examining witnesses in relation to the supposed conflict of interest.
Robinson has been charged with murdering Kirk, a 31-year-old husband and father of two, on September 10 at Utah Valley University. At the time he was shot, Kirk was taking questions from people in the crowd who disagreed with him on politics.
The state has made clear that they intend to seek the death penalty if Robinson is convicted.

Despite mainstream narratives, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is largely targeting illegals who have pending criminal charges or convictions in the United States &#8212; in addition to the crime of being in the U.S. illegally.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2025/12/17/ice-arrests-worst-worst-criminal-illegal-aliens-including-pedophiles-rapists-and">said</a> last month that the Department of Homeland Security law enforcement had arrested more than 600,000 illegals, 70% of whom had been charged or convicted of a crime in the United States.
Additionally, as stressed by McLaughlin, that statistic pertains to charges or convictions only in the U.S., not other nations. Meaning, the percentage of criminals being targeted is likely even higher.
“DHS is targeting the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens — including murderers, rapists, gang members, pedophiles, and terrorists,&#8221; McLaughlin <a href="https://www.ncregister.com/cna/border-czar-homan-says-catholic-church-is-wrong-on-immigration?">said</a> in a statement published in November. &#8220;[Seventy percent] of illegal aliens ICE arrested across the country have criminal convictions or pending criminal charges just in the U.S.&#8221;
&#8220;This statistic doesn’t account for those wanted for violent crimes in their home country or another country, INTERPOL notices, human rights abusers, gang members, terrorists, etc.,&#8221; the assistant secretary explained. &#8220;The list goes on.”
McLaughlin said that the U.S. is a &#8220;nation of laws,&#8221; and DHS is &#8220;committed to enforcing those laws, all of which are just.&#8221;
This past week, a law enforcement agent <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/viral-video-shows-ice-agent-telling-agitators-theyre-disrupting-arrest-child-sex-offender-minnesota?utm_source=chatgpt.com">went viral</a> for addressing protesters and members of the media while agents were on duty. In this particular case, the agent said authorities were picking up a child sex offender, underscoring the absurdity of the protesters.

Moreover, DHS reports a massive 1,300% jump in assaults against ICE agents.
Still, coordinated obstruction, protests, and riots against ICE agents have raged in liberal cities across the nation, most notably in Minneapolis. The Utah judge overseeing the assassination case of conservative activist Charlie Kirk has yet to rule on the defense&#8217;s motion to disqualify the Utah County Attorney’s Office from prosecuting the case over an alleged conflict of interest.
The defense team for Tyler Robinson &#8212; who&#8217;s been charged with the murder of Kirk, a 31-year-old husband and father of two, on September 10 at Utah Valley University &#8212; says the office has a conflict of interest in the case due to a Utah County prosecutor&#8217;s daughter being present at Utah Valley University when the assassination took place.
The prosecution says the family member saw nothing direct and a conflict of interest has not been established. They&#8217;ve also accused the defense of stall tactics.
Judge Tony Graf said on Friday that there&#8217;s not sufficient evidence yet to warrant the expulsion of the office, but has allowed Robinson&#8217;s team to begin examining witnesses in relation to the supposed conflict of interest.
Additionally, Judge Graf <a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/crime/accused-charlie-kirk-shooter-prosecution-removed/">blocked</a> a pool video camera from showing Robinson after his defense team complained that shots of the accused speaking with his legal team could potentially be seen by lip readers and unfairly impact the trial.
A court “decorum” order prohibits visual recordings of conversations at the defense table &#8212; even if they&#8217;re inaudible &#8212; that could potentially be deciphered by lip readers. It also bars close-ups of written communications. The defense argued that the video feed photographer violated such a provision twice on Friday, NewsNation reported.
The sanction of the pool video camera pertained to Friday&#8217;s hearing specifically, and is not permanent.
The next hearing is scheduled for February 3, and will focus on the defense&#8217;s requests to boot the Utah County Attorney’s Office from the case and limit video footage in the trial.
Separately, new reporting on Lance Twiggs, Robinson&#8217;s roommate and alleged lover, indicates that Twiggs is no longer being protected by federal agents.
Twiggs, who lived with Robinson at the time of Kirk&#8217;s murder, has been linked to text messages about the assassination. Relatives of Twiggs say the 22-year-old identified as transgender and was &#8220;transitioning&#8221; to female.
Twiggs had an FBI security detail due to threats before he moved out of state, according to media reports. He has not been charged with any crime in connection to the assassination.

The FBI is hunting for an illegal immigrant from Honduras who is accused of ramming his truck into multiple Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) vehicles during a traffic stop in Texas last month. 
Jerson Lopez-Sanchez, 28, is charged with three counts of assaulting or resisting federal officers, according to an indictment unsealed on Thursday in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Lopez-Sanchez is on the run, and the FBI has <a href="https://www.fbi.gov/wanted/additional/jerson-lopez-sanchez" target="_blank" rel="noopener">offered</a> a $15,000 reward for information that leads to his arrest and conviction. 
The incident unfolded on December 1 after ICE agents conducted a registration check of a Chevrolet Silverado carrying five people driving through Dallas. After determining that Lopez-Sanchez was in the country illegally, agents followed the truck and attempted to initiate a traffic stop in nearby Lewisville, Texas.

Three ICE vehicles surrounded the truck and prepared to conduct the stop when Lopez-Sanchez suddenly put his truck, which was loaded with ladders, in reverse and slammed it into a Jeep SUV driven by one of the ICE agents, according to the indictment. 
“The ICE agent in that SUV had one leg out of his vehicle and on the ground when the driver rammed the Jeep and jolted him backwards. This agent had to quickly jump back into his vehicle to avoid serious injury,” the indictment said. 
That action created enough space for Lopez-Sanchez to drive away, and a car chase began in a heavily populated area, the indictment said. As he drove away, Lopez-Sanchez also allegedly drove into a Chrysler van being driven by an ICE agent, injuring the agent’s knees and neck. 
The indictment said he “weaponized his 5,500-plus-pound vehicle and dangerously accelerated into the ICE agents in the Chrysler van, causing significant damage and smoke to rise from the hood, and also causing all front airbags to deploy.”
After a ten-minute pursuit, Lopez-Sanchez parked his truck in a median and fled. Three of the occupants were later arrested, but Lopez-Sanchez evaded law enforcement. 
The FBI wanted poster for Lopez-Sanchez lists him as being 5 &#8216;8&#8217;’ tall and weighing 165 pounds. His occupation was listed as a roofer. 
ICE agents have faced a sharp increase in vehicle attacks, <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/01/08/radical-rhetoric-sanctuary-politicians-leads-unprecedented-1300-increase-assaults">according</a> to the Department of Homeland Security. From January 21, 2025, to January 7, 2026, there have been 66 “vehicular attacks” targeting ICE, according to DHS. That is up from two the previous year during the same time frame.

As the Trump administration investigates rampant welfare fraud in Democrat states, Senator Tom Cotton (R-AK) wants to toughen the penalties for foreign fraudsters.
Cotton introduced a <a href="https://www.cotton.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/welfare_fraud_deterrence_and_recovery_act.pdf">bill</a> on Thursday that would set mandatory minimums for non-citizens convicted of fraud and allow for automatic deportation for those convicted of fraud. The Trump administration has launched major fraud investigations into states like California and Minnesota, where dozens of Somali migrants have been charged with crimes.
“Migrants who steal Arkansas taxpayer dollars by committing fraud shouldn’t be let off with just a slap on the wrist,” Cotton told The Daily Wire. “My bill will ensure these criminals face harsher consequences.”
Cotton’s &#8220;Welfare Fraud Deterrence and Recovery Act&#8221; would impose a two-year minimum prison sentence for non-citizens or naturalized citizens convicted of stealing federal welfare funds. If the person stole more than $100,000 worth of funds, the sentence would be no less than five years, according to a copy of the proposal shared with The Daily Wire.
Defrauding federal welfare programs would also come with immigration consequences. Foreigners who were denaturalized would be barred from reentry into the United States and foreigners convicted of fraud would be subject to expedited deportation. Cotton’s bill would also make it easier to denaturalize someone convicted of fraud.
Under the bill, a Fraud Recovery Task Force would be established by the Justice Department and the Department of Health and Human Services to investigate and prosecute fraud cases.

The specific programs being halted in those states are the Child Care Development Fund, the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program, and the Social Services Block Grant program.
Last week, Vice President JD Vance announced that a new assistant attorney general position out of the Justice Department would be formed to focus on fraud in Minnesota.
“To make sure that we prosecute the bad guys and do it as swiftly and efficiently as possible … we are creating a new assistant attorney general position who will have nationwide jurisdiction over the issue of fraud,” Vance said at a press briefing. “Now, of course, that person’s efforts will start and focus primarily in Minnesota, but it is going to be a nationwide effort, because unfortunately, the American people have been defrauded in a very nationwide way.”

Is college basketball broken? The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania announced on Thursday the indictment of 26 suspects, including 20 former NCAA college basketball players from 17 schools, for allegedly attempting to fix games through performance manipulation during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.
Officials said the scheme started in September 2022 when defendants bribed players in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) to participate in &#8220;point-shaving&#8221; their games, before moving to NCAA basketball. Point-shaving occurs when the final score is manipulated to satisfy the point-spread of the game, not the win-or-lose outcome.
“Over the past two years, the FBI’s Philadelphia Field Office led an investigation into a point-shaving and sports-bribery conspiracy resulting in the indictments announced today,” said FBI Deputy Director Andrew Bailey.
United States Attorney David Metcalf called the gambling scheme &#8220;historic,&#8221; and said the point-shaving scheme involved more than 39 players who were part of more than 17 teams who attempted to fix at least 29 men&#8217;s college basketball games
&#8220;Certain players were targeted because they were missing out on NIL money,&#8221; Metcalf said, also adding: &#8220;This is the corruption of college sports.&#8221;
According to the indictment, the suspects in the case include the following former college basketball players: Alberto Laureano, Arlando Arnold, Simeon Cottle, Kevin Cross, Bradley Ezewiro, Shawn Fulcher, Carlos Hart, Markeese Hastings, Cedquavious Hunter, Oumar Koureissi, Da&#8217;Sean Nelson, Demond Robinson, Camian Shell, Dyquavion Short, Airion Simmons, and Jalen Terry.
&#8220;We allege an extensive international criminal conspiracy of NCAA players, alumni and professional bettors who fixed games across the country and poisoned the American spirit of competition for monetary gain,&#8221; Metcalf said.
Other names listed in the indictment include trainers Jalen Smith and Roderick Winkler, as well as “high-stakes sports gamblers” Marves Fairley and Shane Hennen.
Per the indictment, the defendants approached and communicated with NCAA basketball players, in person and through social media, text messages, and phone calls. The &#8220;fixers&#8221; offered the players bribe payments, usually ranging from $10,000 to $30,000 per game, to participate in the scheme.
The suspects face charges including sports bribery and conspiracy to commit wire fraud, among others.
The games that were allegedly fixed include matchups in China, as well as games involving the following schools: Nicholls State, Tulane, Northwestern State, Saint Louis, LaSalle, Fordham, Buffalo, DePaul, Robert Morris, Southern Miss, North Carolina A&amp;T, Kennesaw State, Coppin State, New Orleans, Abilene Christian, Eastern Michigan, and Alabama State.
&#8220;When criminals rig the outcome of games for the purpose to lose, we all lose,&#8221; Metcalf said.
Antonio Blakeney, who is listed in the indictment as &#8220;charged elsewhere&#8221; from a previous sports gambling case, was one of the CBA&#8217;s top scorers and was allegedly recruited by Hennen and Fairley to join the point-shaving antics. According to the indictment, Blakeney received a $200,000 payment in Florida, which another defendant dropped into a storage unit. The former All-American from LSU went on to recruit college players to join the scheme.
There are four current players this season who are listed in the case: Kennesaw State&#8217;s Simeon Cottle, Eastern Michigan&#8217;s Carlos Hart, Delaware State&#8217;s Camian Shell, and Texas Southern&#8217;s Oumar Koureissi. All players have played within the last week.
Koureissi, at the time of the alleged crime, played for Nicholls State. The document states Koureissi was involved in fixing Nicholls State&#8217;s game against McNeese State in February of 2024. Koureissi allegedly fixed the game through point-shaving to ensure Nicholls State didn&#8217;t cover the spread against McNeese. Koureissi scored 0 points in that contest and won the fixers their bet.
This is just one of the countless examples of fraud in the indictment.
&#8220;There is integrity in sports,&#8221; Metcalf said. &#8220;You have the teammates of the players who were working their tail off.&#8221;
NCAA President Charlie Baker released this <a href="https://www.ncaa.org/news/2026/1/15/media-center-ncaa-president-baker-issues-statement-regarding-sports-betting-indictments-in-college-athletics-calls-on-remaining-states-to-ban-risky-bets.aspx">statement</a> Thursday: &#8220;Protecting competition integrity is of the utmost importance for the NCAA. We are thankful for law enforcement agencies working to detect and combat integrity issues and match manipulation in college sports. &#8230; The Association has and will continue to aggressively pursue sports betting violations in college athletics using a layered integrity monitoring program that covers over 22,000 contests, but we still need the remaining states, regulators and gaming companies to eliminate threats to integrity &#8211; such as collegiate prop bets &#8211; to better protect athletes and leagues from integrity risks and predatory bettors. We also will continue to cooperate fully with law enforcement. We urge all student-athletes to make well-informed choices to avoid jeopardizing the game and their eligibility.&#8221;
This bombshell gambling case follows two others from last fall involving former NBA and MLB players. Sports gambling in some form is legal in 40 states.
&#8220;I will say that the evidence in this case shows that the monetization of college athletics and athletics generally &#8230; furthered the enterprise in this case,&#8221; Metcalf said.
The United States Attorney added that this case is extensive and the investigation is ongoing.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents arrested a slew of illegal immigrants in Minneapolis Tuesday, including several convicted of sexual assault and drug trafficking.
The arrests were part of Operation Metro Surge, the Trump administration’s effort to arrest illegal aliens in the Twin Cities, which began in December. Among those arrested Tuesday were Teng Houa Vang, a Vietnamese national with a domestic assault conviction — as well as guilty pleas for terror threats and breaking a “protection order,” The Daily Wire has learned. He is also facing charges for “arson, peeping tom, obstructing police, trespassing, assault, drug possession, and property damage.”

“Another day another scourge of sexual predators, violent assailants, domestic abusers and drug traffickers arrested from the streets of Minnesota by our law enforcement,” Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are in Minnesota to arrest the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens. Governor Walz and Mayor Frey refuse to let us into their jails and instead choose to release criminal illegal aliens back into Minnesota neighborhoods to victimize more Americans. Despite violence against them and a lack of cooperation from sanctuary politicians, our law enforcement will not stop their efforts to get criminals out of [the] country,” she continued.
Salvadoran national Francisco Salazar-Solorzano was arrested on DUI, domestic violence, and assault charges. Mexican national Victor Javier Bahena-Sandoval has previous arrests for domestic violence, in addition to past convictions for “disorderly conduct” and for coming back into the country illegally. Mexican national Santiago Antunes Mendiola faces charges for battery.
Spanish national Lorenzo Armillas Llaurado has a prior conviction for “felony distribution of a controlled substance.” Nigerian national Michael Opeoluwa Egbele has a prior conviction for impersonation fraud.

Operation Metro Surge has triggered protests and backlash from Democratic leaders, especially following the confrontation in which Renee Good was fatally shot by an ICE officer. She reportedly hit him with her vehicle in Minneapolis, as DHS says the agent involved suffered internal bleeding afterward.
“Get the f**k out of Minneapolis,” Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said at a press conference last week following the Good incident.
“We do not want you here. Your stated reason for being in this city is to create some kind of safety, and you are doing exactly the opposite,” he continued, saying, “people are being hurt.”
The Daily Wire reached out to both Walz and the City of Minneapolis for comment, but they were not immediately available for a response. As of December 19, there have been 622,000 deportations since President Donald Trump took office, along with an estimated 1.9 million people who opted to self-deport, as the federal government is offering incentives to do so.

“West Wing” actor Timothy Busfield turned himself in to the Albuquerque Police Department on Tuesday after a warrant for his arrest was issued last Friday. Busfield stands accused of sexually assaulting twin boys beginning when they were 7 years old.
Busfield&#8217;s attorney, Larry Stein, said his client requested that law enforcement drop the warrant and allow him to turn himself in, but his request was denied. 
“He wants to turn himself in because he wants to clear his name and reputation,&#8221; Stein said, per <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/us-marshals-join-search-actor-timothy-busfield-child-sex-abuse-allegat-rcna253819">NBC News</a>. &#8220;He didn’t do anything wrong. These accusations are false as the investigator from the independent law firm found.&#8221;
Busfield is currently being held without bail, the outlet noted.
The actor worked with twin boys, born in 2014, on the set of “The Cleaning Lady,” which aired on Fox from 2022 to 2025. Busfield directed some episodes and was named an executive producer, per Deadline. One of the boys identified in court documents as “SL” told APD Officer Marvin Brown that Busfield touched his “penis and buttocks, masking it as play” more than once. The alleged abuse is said to have started with the boys when they were 7 years old, The Daily Wire previously <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/west-wing-actor-remains-at-large-after-child-sex-abuse-accusations">reported</a>.
An investigation began in November 2024 when a University of New Mexico Hospital doctor reported his suspicions of sexual abuse and grooming to authorities. 
The actor allegedly had the boys refer to him as “Uncle Tim” and tickled them on their stomachs and legs. Busfield responded to these allegations in November and confirmed it was “highly likely” he engaged in “physical contact” with them.
“I don’t remember those boys,” Busfield said, per the affidavit. “No, I don’t. I don’t actually, I don’t remember it, if it happened. I don’t remember overtly tickling the boys ever, but it wouldn’t be uncommon for me.” The actor also indicated that the twins’ mother was making the claims as a form of revenge for the child stars not being part of the last season of “The Cleaning Lady,” which has since been canceled.
Investigators initially didn’t press charges, but the case was reopened in September 2025 when one of the boys reported the alleged abuse to his doctor.
The actor faced two previous sexual assault allegations in 1994 and 2012, but was never charged.
Before turning himself in, the actor <a href="https://www.tmz.com/2026/01/13/timothy-busfield-surrenders-child-sex-abuse/">filmed a video</a> proclaiming his innocence, which was later obtained by TMZ. 
&#8220;Hi everybody, it&#8217;s Tim,&#8221; Busfield said. &#8220;I&#8217;m sure most of you know, that are watching this, that I was ordered to come to Albuquerque — I&#8217;m here now. I got the call Friday night, I had to get a lawyer. Saturday I got in the car, drove 2,000 miles to Albuquerque. I&#8217;m gonna confront these lies. They&#8217;re horrible.&#8221;
&#8220;They&#8217;re all lies and I did not do anything to those little boys and I&#8217;m gonna fight it,” he went on. “I&#8217;m gonna fight it with a great team, and I&#8217;m gonna be exonerated, I know I am, because this is all so wrong and all lies.&#8221;
&#8220;So hang in there and hopefully I&#8217;m out real soon and back to work,” Busfield continued. “I love everybody for supporting me, thank you.&#8221;

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was taken into custody for allegedly assaulting a ride-share driver on Monday night, according to the LAPD. 
The 59-year-old was arrested at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue in Hollywood. The LAPD responded around 12:15 a.m. to a suspected assault, Los Angeles Police Officer Kevin Terzes told <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/kiefer-sutherland-arrested-allegedly-assaulting-ride-share-driver-l-po-rcna253933">NBC News</a>.
“The investigation determined that the suspect, later identified as Kiefer Sutherland, entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim,” Terzes said via email.
The driver did not require medical treatment, police said, per <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2026/01/13/entertainment/kiefer-sutherland-arrest-assault-allegation-hnk">CNN</a>.
Sutherland was arrested and released several hours later on a $50,000 bond, the outlet noted. His first court appearance is scheduled for February 2.
Reps for Sutherland did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Sutherland’s career took off in the 1980s and 90s as he starred in films like “Stand by Me” (1986), “The Lost Boys” (1987), “Young Guns” (1988), “A Few Good Men” (1992), and “The Three Musketeers” (1993). 
The actor found enduring success on the Fox drama series &#8220;24&#8221; (2001–2010, 2014), in which counterterrorism officials attempt to stop imminent threats to the United States. That role earned Sutherland an Emmy Award and a Golden Globe. His father is the late actor Donald Sutherland.
During Donald Trump&#8217;s first presidential campaign, Sutherland <a href="https://thehill.com/blogs/in-the-know/in-the-know/269866-kiefer-sutherland-trump-recalls-segregationist-george-wallace/">compared</a> the Republican candidate to former Alabama Democratic Governor George Wallace, who was a vocal segregationist.
Sutherland has previously gotten into trouble with the law, including multiple DUI incidents and an assault charge. The actor was accused of head-butting a fashion designer in 2009, but the charges were later dropped.

A Venezuelan illegal immigrant who allegedly took part in a violent strangling death that led to an individual being stuffed into a suitcase and buried in a “remote” part of New Mexico was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on January 8, <a href="https://www.fox21news.com/news/local/tren-de-aragua-member-arrested/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fox 21 News Colorado</a> reported.
Yorvis Michel Carrascal Campo, an alleged Tren de Aragua gang member, is one of 11 people indicted by the Justice Department in December in the case, as the victim was allegedly kidnapped by the group that later tried to hide the evidence of the crime in June 2024, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
Carrascal Campo is one of seven individuals facing charges for “conspiracy to conduct racketeering activity, murder in aid of racketeering and drug trafficking conspiracy,” according to a DOJ press release prior to the arrest. DHS said he crossed the southern border into the United States illegally in October 2023 during the Biden-era border crisis, and he had a final order to exit the country in June 2024, just days before the murder occurred.
“Carrascal Campo’s crimes shock the conscience and are yet another example of the failed border policies of Joe Biden that RELEASED TdA gang members into American communities,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement first shared with The Daily Wire.

He is one of five explicitly named in the indictment for “[carrying] out the TdA leader&#8217;s order to kill John Doe I by restraining and strangling John Doe I until John Doe I died” in Albuquerque. The victim was questioned regarding “his loyalty to TdA and his connections to rival gangs.”
The DOJ alleges that Carrascal Campo was one of three people who “cleaned up the scene of the murder to conceal the murder from law enforcement” and helped with burying the body.
In addition, the <a href="https://www.justice.gov/usao-nm/media/1421321/dl?inline" target="_blank" rel="noopener">indictment</a> said that Carrascal Campo “supplied” ketamine between May and June 2024 to those involved with TdA in New Mexico as a way to “manufacture and distribute tusi.” Tusi is better known as pink cocaine.
“Just last week, two vicious Tren de Aragua gang members—also let loose on American streets by Joe Biden—weaponized their vehicle against Border Patrol in Portland. These are the types of monsters our law enforcement is targeting. We are working around the clock to clean up the chaos caused by the Biden administration who let untold millions of illegal aliens including murderers, pedophiles, rapists, terrorists, and gang members pour into our country,” DHS said in a statement.
The arrest comes as ICE continues to apprehend illegals nationwide and faces protests throughout the country.
