Hugh Jackman is keeping some secrets about “Deadpool 3,” but isn’t hiding the conflict between his character, Wolverine, and the titular superhero.

The 54-year-old star confirmed that Wolverine and Deadpool “hate each other” during a recent discussion on the “Empire Film Podcast.” The upcoming movie will represent the first interaction between the pair in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

“How do I categorize it?” Jackman said of how Wolverine will relate to Ryan Reynolds playing Deadpool. “Ten being really close, zero being the reality: we’re zero; we’re opposites, hate each other.”

“I’m just talking from my perspective,” he continued. “[Logan is] frustrated by him [and] wants to be a million miles away from him or wants to punch him in the head. Unfortunately, he can’t be a million miles away from him in this movie, so I’m probably going to punch him in the head a lot.”

While plot details are being kept secret, Jackman already confirmed that the film “Deadpool 3” will not contradict the 2017 film “Logan.”

“It’s all because of this device they have in the Marvel world of moving around timelines,” the actor told SiriusXM of how Wolverine could be part of the cast despite his death in “Logan.”

“Now we can go back because, you know, it’s science. So, I don’t have to screw with the ‘Logan’ timeline, which was important to me. And I think probably to the fans too.”

This flexibility with timing is fortunate for Jackman, who said he’s excited to reprise his role as Wolverine and believes he’ll do well with it. The actor told Variety, “A little part of me now thinks I’d be better at it. Is that arrogance of age or something?”

“Wolverine’s a tortured character — more tortured than me,” he continued. “But I always get the feeling of him being comfortable in his own skin. And I feel more comfortable in my own skin now, even though it’s messier.”

The first two “Deadpool” movies were released by Fox and each earned around $780 million worldwide. After Disney acquired Fox, it became obvious that the studio would come out with a third “Deadpool” installment and cash in on the massive popularity of the character.

The publication noted that “Deadpool 3” will begin filming in May 2023 for a scheduled November 2024 theatrical release.
