King Charles III is preparing to make more cuts to the monarchy, with the recent head-turning eviction of his son, ex-royal Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle, reportedly just the “tip of the iceberg.”

Harry and Meghan confirmed this month that they had been asked to “vacate” Frogmore Cottage, located in Windsor, England.

“There will be staff cutbacks. That has already started. The buzz phrase is ‘value for money,’” a source told the Evening Standard.

King Charles, working with his son Prince William, wishes to reduce the number of royals financially dependent on the crown, especially for those who, like Harry and Meghan, play no active role in the royal family.

“The King is not some sort of housing association for distant relatives,” another source said.

The king reportedly wants funds to be spent more effectively, while paring down the number of staffers – the situation was described as advisors having their own advisors. For those who are employed by the crown, though, King Charles wants more competitive salaries and pensions.

Harry and Meghan notably used roughly $3 million from taxpayers to renovate Frogmore Cottage following their marriage. But after the couple left the royal family, they agreed to pay back the millions of dollars used in the renovation.

The embattled couple, who’ve made racial accusations against the royal family, were notified about their eviction around the same time Harry’s bombshell tell-all memoir “Spare” was gaining international traction. Keeping on-theme with the couple’s ouster from the family, “Spare” painted the royals in a very negative light and allegedly detailed private conversations.

Still, King Charles has apparently invited Harry and Megan to his upcoming coronation, set for May 6.

“I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” a spokesperson for the Sussex’s shared earlier this month.

When Harry was asked if he’ll be attending the monumental event, he told ITV’s Tom Bradby, “There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But, the door is always open. The ball is in their court. … There’s a lot to be discussed and I really hope that they’re willing to sit down and talk about it.”

During the same interview, the ex-royal said he wants “a family, not an institution,” adding, “I would like to get my father back. I would like to have my brother back.”
