Gwen Stefani had something to say about the rumors that she and husband country singer Blake Shelton were divorcing, calling them “just lies.”
The 54-year-old singer and mother of three told NYLON.com that, despite old insecurities that creep up sometimes, she and Shelton are very much in love.
“I had been going through those times where you’re questioning: ‘Oh my gosh, am I just getting older? Am I cute,” Stefani said of her thoughts the day she wrote their latest duet “Purple Irises.”
“In my own relationship, even though I know the truth of what’s happening today, you still create drama in your own mind about your insecurities and what might happen,” she added. “I was in that phase of the relationship with Blake and getting paranoid.”

“The truth is I am in love with my best friend,” she added, despite those old fears. “And all this s*** I’m thinking of in my brain, that’s all it is- I’m overthinking.”
The “Holla Back” girl said she and the superstar country singer just ignore speculation in the media that there’s trouble in their romance.
“But when you’re in love and have truly aligned values, nobody can get to us,” Stefani said. “You can say whatever you want to say about our relationship—I mean, a week ago we were getting divorced again or something. It’s just lies. The truth is the truth, and we know what that is.”

Last year, Shelton gave a sweet speech gushing about Stefani at her Hollywood Walk of Fame honor, calling her an amazing mother and performer.
During the 47-year-old country singer’s speech, Shelton talked about the first time he met her in 2014 on the reality series “The Voice.” He said she had her arms full with a baby and two little boys as he praised her for being a “mother first and foremost.”
“That was her number one job,” Shelton said, as Stefani started getting emotional. “And now standing here almost 10 years later after I first met her, I can say without question, that being a mother is still the most important thing in her life.”
Shelton and Stefani met while working on the reality series. At the time, both were married to other people. The pair went through separate divorces and in 2015, and started dating.
In October 2020, they finally got engaged, and a year later they made their relationship official during at an intimate ceremony in July. Stefani shares three children with her ex-husband singer Gavin Rossdale.
