Gwen Stefani wants the world to know that after she had resigned herself to a life of loneliness following her divorce, God sent her future husband, Blake Shelton, into her world.

The 53-year-old pop star shared her feelings for Shelton during a recent episode of Drew Barrymore’s podcast. Stefani made it clear that she had given up on love and never expected to feel so deeply for another man again.

“You are coming up on your two-year anniversary with Blake Shelton,” Barrymore said, seemingly referring to their engagement in October 2020 after dating since 2015. The couple wed in July 2021.

“God just put us together. It was like one of those miracle situations where I didn’t see it coming,” Stefani said of her country star husband.

Stefani and Shelton met while working as coaches on the reality competition show “The Voice” in 2014. The “Don’t Speak” singer was going through a breakup with Gavin Rossdale, while Shelton was married to country star Miranda Lambert around the time of their introduction.

“I was like, ‘I’m gonna wake up every day. I’m gonna have a coffee. I’m gonna take care of my kids, and then I’m gonna go to bed.’ Like I’m never gonna kiss anyone,” Stefani told Barrymore. “I thought my life was over, and then Blake Shelton was like, ‘Hey. I’m Blake Shelton.’”

The pop singer said she and Shelton are totally different people, but that’s what works for them.

“Finding a best friend, someone that is on the same plane when it comes to morals, or just the way you look at life, that’s the dream,” she continued. “We think the same about things, yet we’re so different. Like, he’s watching football and doing his stuff that he does, and I’m putting makeup on. We’re so different, yet we’re so the same on so many levels.”

Stefani is happy to discuss her love life but isn’t so forthcoming when it comes to politics. Even as other singers shout their support for abortion and other leftist causes, Stefani has remained tight-lipped on the subject despite mounting pressure from fans and the media.

“I can see how people would be curious, but I think it’s pretty obvious who I am,” the singer said of her political leanings in 2021. “I’ve been around forever.”

“The whole point of voting,” she continued, “is you have this personal space to feel how you feel. I use my platform to share my life story and to engage with people and to exchange whatever gift I was giving. I’m not a political science major. I am not that person. Everyone knows that. So why would I even talk about it?”
