Supermodel Gisele Bündchen discussed how her parenting strategies differ from those of her ex-husband, retired NFL star Tom Brady, and how her kids sometimes give her “pushback” about it.
“You are where you come from,” the 43-year-old Brazilian-born model told Harper’s Bazaar during a newly published cover story interview. “All those things that I learned as a kid are things that are in me. It doesn’t change. In many ways, it’s also what kept me safe, because my value system was so strong.”
“Today, being in the place where I am in my life and having access to all the different things I’ve had access to, I feel like the simple things are best because I keep trying to go back to those things,” Bündchen added. “At the end of the day, those are the things that make me the happiest.”
The top-earning model went on to specifically discuss how she and Brady are handling co-parenting and some challenges that have come up.
“The way you make your room, the way you organize and make your bed is the way you’re going to do your life. If you’re not learning here and now, then when and with who?” she said of instructing the couple’s children. Bündchen and Brady have two biological children, plus the model is a stepmom to Brady’s son from a previous relationship.
She continued, “Sometimes, I get pushback, especially because now they’re in two different homes and there are two different ways. But I feel like I owe it to my kids, because of what my mom taught me.”

Bündchen also told the outlet how she tends to ignore any criticism from the public. “I can’t really worry about what other people say about me because what they say about me is none of my business. It’s really their business that they’re trying to project onto me,” she said. “If I’m going to be affected by that, I’m never going to live my truth.”
Brady and Bündchen married in 2009 and divorced after 13 years of marriage in 2022. The former Patriots quarterback said in June that he and his ex were doing “an amazing job” of splitting parenting duties in the wake of their divorce.
