Residents in the exclusive Royal Crescent area in Bath, England, found Thursday that an image of a penis had been mowed into the lawn that will be the site of a party celebrating King Charles III’s coronation.
The row of upscale homes — some which date back to the 18th century — form a crescent on a single street and is known for its “perfect lawn,” The New York Post noted. The lawn in question will host a “grand coronation party” thrown by locals on Saturday in celebration of Charles’ coronation.
A flyer released for the upcoming event read, “Celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Georgian era. Decorate your own regal crown, watch demonstrations on royal fashion and visit the Georgian Cook cooking up delicious recipes in the kitchen.”
It is currently unclear if the 30-foot phallic symbol was mowed into the lawn in response to the upcoming event or for some other reason.
The party will take place after King Charles III is officially crowned at Westminster Abbey in London on Saturday. The king ascended the throne in September following the death of his mother Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96.
American celebrities like Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and more will take part in the royal festivities. Buckingham Palace recently confirmed that Harry, the Duke of Sussex, will travel to the United Kingdom for the ceremony but his wife, Meghan Markle, will remain in southern California with their two children.
“Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,” a statement read. “The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
At the time of this publication, it is unclear if law enforcement has been called in to investigate the incident.
