Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis are reportedly on board to join the sequel to Disney’s cult classic comedy, “Freaky Friday,” which is currently in development.

Lohan and Curtis are in talks to reprise their roles as a mother and daughter who wake up one Friday and find they have swapped bodies, per The Hollywood Reporter. The original 2003 film was based on the 1972 novel of the same name. It grossed $160 million globally.

Elyse Hollander was named as the screenwriter. She’s known for writing the Madonna biopic screenplay for “Blonde Ambition.”

Both lead actresses seemed open to working on a future sequel, which they expanded on during a retrospective published in The New York Times on the film’s 20th anniversary this month.

Curtis told the publication that she kept getting questions about a “Freaky Friday” sequel while promoting a different film, which made her realize it could be worth doing.

“As I went around the world with ‘Halloween Ends,’ people wanted to know if there was going to be another ‘Freaky Friday.’ Something really touched a chord,” the actress said. “When I came back, I called my friends at Disney and said, ‘It feels like there’s a movie to be made.’”

Lohan also told the Times that she was interested. “Jamie and I are both open to that, so we’re leaving it in the hands that be. We would only make something that people would absolutely adore,” the 36-year-old star said.

Lohan took a hiatus from acting for several years but has since starred in a few projects, including the Netflix romantic comedy “Falling for Christmas.” The former child star recently announced she’s pregnant with her first child.

Both actresses also revealed what they had learned while filming the original movie. “To have more patience,” Lohan said. “You want to let them explore and live the way they need to live — with boundaries.”

Curtis said being in “Freaky Friday” taught her to “suspend the judgment, open the ear, listen more.”

“Also, as a parent, we’re sizing up all the time: shoes, clothes, foods. It’s all future thought. My lesson from ‘Freaky Friday’ was to be where your feet are,” she said.
