<p>Eric Trump said on Sunday that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/secret-service" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Secret Service</a> Director Kimberly Cheatle should resign after the attempted assassination of his father, former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a>, at a rally last weekend.</p>
<p>The younger Trump explained his position during an <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/video/6358754546112" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> on Fox News as Cheatle faces a crisis of confidence in her leadership following the security failure at the campaign event in Pennsylvania.</p>
<p>&#8220;The director of the Secret Service should resign in absolute disgrace,&#8221; Eric Trump told &#8220;Sunday Morning Futures&#8221; anchor Maria Bartiromo.</p>
<p>Eric Trump accused Cheatle of lying to the America people and suggested her boss, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, is trying to obstruct a congressional inquiry into the attack.</p>
<p>One particular claim Eric Trump dismissed was Cheatle&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/homeland-security-inspector-general-investigating-secret-service-over-trump-rally-shooting" target="_blank" rel="noopener">assertion</a> that the Secret Service did not place a unit on the rooftop where the shooter opened fire because it was sloped.</p>
<p>Emphasizing how relatively flat the roof seems to be, he said, &#8220;If there was any less grade on that roof, you would have birdbaths on the top of it, right?&#8221;</p>
<p>He added, &#8220;I don&#8217;t want to hear this, that the Secret Service sniper — and I know many of them, and they are the most in-shape, phenomenal people &#8230; couldn&#8217;t navigate that roof.&#8221;</p>

<p>Questions <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/14/politics/secret-service-faces-serious-questions-about-security-footprint-and-rooftop-access-at-trump-event/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">have been raised</a> about how a shooter, identified as a 20-year-old Pennsylvania man named Thomas Matthew Crooks, managed to get onto a nearby rooftop and begin shooting.</p>
<p>President Trump survived, but a bullet ripped through his right year. One rally-goer was killed and two others were injured. The shooter was killed by a Secret Service sniper.</p>
<p>Multipole investigations are underway, including the wide-ranging inquiry in the GOP-led House, which has a hearing with Cheatle scheduled for Monday.</p>
<p>A lack of accountability following the shooting and letting Cheatle remain in her job &#8220;shows how disgraceful and inept&#8221; the Biden administration is, Eric Trump said.</p>
<p>&#8220;She should be out of a job,&#8221; he said. &#8220;They should put somebody in there that&#8217;s competent. The reality is, I don&#8217;t care. This is not a political issue. There&#8217;s no politics involved in this issue.&#8221;</p>
<p>Eric Trump said a former president getting shot is a &#8220;sign to the entire world of the weakness of America when something like this happens, and, God forbid, worse happened.&#8221;</p>
<p>Despite his criticism of Cheatle, Eric Trump made room to praise the Secret Service agents who rushed in to protect his father, saying they &#8220;did their job, and they did it incredibly well.&#8221;</p>
