Actress Drew Barrymore said she wanted to “deeply apologize” for offending people by “making light” of the testimony during Johnny Depp’s defamation trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.

The 47-year-old actress reacted to criticism in a video she shared Sunday on Instagram after Depp fans called out the host of “The Drew Barrymore Show.” Barrymore’s critics accused the star of “making light” of domestic violence after discussing the trial on her show Friday and laughed about some of the testimony, reported People magazine.

“It has come to my attention that I have offended people with making light of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard,” Barrymore shared. “And for that, I just want to deeply apologize and appreciate everyone who spoke out because this can be a teachable moment for me and how I move forward and how I conduct myself.”

“I can be a more thoughtful and better person moving forward because all I want to do is be a good person,” she added. “I very much appreciate the depth of this and I will grow and change from it. And I thank everyone for helping me grow along the way and teaching me. Thank you.”

During the “Charlie’s Angels” star’s show Friday, she and guest Anthony Anderson reportedly talked about some of the things that have come out in the trial and laughed about them.

“It’s like one layer of crazy, it’s a seven-layer dip of insanity,” Barrymore shared. “I know that these are two people’s real lives and I know what it’s like to have your life put out in public.”

“I understand all the feelings, but they are actually offering up this information that nobody had to know,” she added. “This is crazy!”

On Friday, one of Depp’s security guard’s testified the “Aquaman” actress allegedly admitted to leaving feces in her and her ex-husband’s bed following a fight in April 2016.

Security guard Starling Jenkins testified about having “a conversation pertaining to the surprise [Heard] left in the boss’s bed” before accompanying the 36-year-old actress on a trip, as previously reported by The Daily Wire.

Heard called the incident “a horrible practical joke gone wrong,” Jenkins explained.

“The Pirates of the Caribbean” star is suing Heard for more than $50 million for defamation he claims hurt his career in Hollywood after she allegedly defamed him in an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. Heard claims Depp’s legal team made false claims about her and is countersuing the actor for $100 million in damages. Heard is expected to testify in the coming days.

Depp and Heard tied the knot in 2015. In 2017, their divorce was finalized, reported Page Six.
