Podcaster Joe Rogan said the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial is a “big win” for the actor, and said it shows “there’s something wrong” with the “Aquaman” actress.
During “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast Tuesday, the host and guest comedian Jessica Kirson discussed Depp’s testimony on the stand in the 58-year-old actor’s trial where he is suing his ex-wife for $50 million after she allegedly defamed him in an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post in 2018. It starts at the 3:30 minute mark in the NSFW clip.
“The only good thing is,” Rogan explained. “And this is a good thing. This is one of the reasons why it’s good that he did this. Everyone knows now, like, there’s something wrong with her. Like, there’s something wrong. There’s some sort of, like, mental issue, whatever …”
Kirson agreed and said there’s a lot of “mental issues,” noting how the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star took the stand during his testimony that lasted several days, and explained how Heard allegedly left feces in their bed after a fight.
The host then played a portion of the video from Depp’s testimony supporting his claims.
“First of all, this is a big win for Johnny Depp,” Rogan shared later at the 5:51 minute mark. “And a big loss for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’ How about f*** you guys. You got rid of the best f***ing pirate you’ve ever had for a crazy lady. You f***ed up.”
Later in the show, Rogan explained how “we’re getting a chance to see, through this Will Smith thing with Jada Pinkett [Smith], through this Johnny Depp thing with Amber Heard,” that stars are “not just protected by publicists anymore” like celebrities used to be. It starts at the 11:30 minute mark in the clip.
He said “it’s not like they can just hide and you think of them as these impossible people who are without flaws.”
“And then when they die you see the autobiography and you’re like, ‘Oh, Joan Crawford was f***ing crazy,’” the podcast host added.
The “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” star was on the stand for several days, and his cross-examination ended Monday. Heard is set to testify in the coming days, reported Variety.
Depp is suing his ex-wife for more than $50 million for defamation he claims hurt his career in Hollywood. Heard claims Depp’s legal team made false claims about her and is countersuing the actor for $100 million in damages.
The former Hollywood couple tied the knot in 2015. In 2017, their divorce was finalized, reported Page Six.
