Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy grilled White House Press Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/karine-jean-pierre" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Karine Jean-Pierre</a> during Tuesday&#8217;s briefing, asking her why nothing President Joe Biden was doing seemed to be really resonating with the American people.
Doocy began by referencing recent polling — very little of which looks good for Biden — and jumped right into what that could mean for Biden in the months left before the 2024 presidential election.
&#8220;Why do you think Americans are so down on President Biden right now?&#8221; he asked.
&#8220;What do you mean?&#8221; Jean-Pierre pushed back.
&#8220;I know you don&#8217;t like to talk about polls, like, the five of six swing states that he is losing right now to somebody who is a criminal offender,&#8221; Doocy replied. &#8220;But, more broadly, it doesn&#8217;t seem like anything you guys are doing is making him more popular. Why do you think that is?&#8221;
&#8220;So, you — uh — you mentioned a criminal defendant, your words, not mine,&#8221; Jean-Pierre said. &#8220;So I want to be super mindful about how I answer this question, because obviously, that criminal defendant is also a — in the race for 2024 elections, so going to be super mindful there.&#8221;
Jean-Pierre then laid out her prepared litany of reasons — none of them Biden&#8217;s policies — that Americans might feel like things weren&#8217;t getting better. She listed everything from &#8220;Putin&#8217;s war&#8221; and its impact on gas prices to the lasting effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
&#8220;We understand that people are still feeling this. We get that and we&#8217;re not — we&#8217;re not blind to that,&#8221; she continued, claiming that Biden&#8217;s economy was working even if people weren&#8217;t feeling that.

Doocy pushed back immediately, arguing that the president&#8217;s policies were not doing what he had promised they would.
&#8220;I get that you understand that people are hurting right now. Why is it that nothing you&#8217;re doing to address their concerns is working?&#8221; he asked.
&#8220;What I&#8217;m saying is, we&#8217;re going to continue to do the work. I can&#8217;t speak to the polls, right? Those are for folks who are experts who can do a deep dive and look into that and speak to them,&#8221; Jean-Pierre insisted. &#8220;What I can speak to is we understand what the American people is [sic] feeling. We understand what they&#8217;re going through. That&#8217;s why we&#8217;re going to continue to do the work.&#8221;

Doocy wrapped up with a vague question that seemed to be addressing the ongoing war between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas — and the concurrent war within the Democrat Party regarding Biden&#8217;s recently-vacillating position on Israel.
&#8220;Have you considered in the White House that some of President Biden&#8217;s recent policy positions could be a turn off to the people that used to like him?&#8221; Doocy asked.
Jean-Pierre made no mention of Israel in her answer, instead citing a list of Biden&#8217;s policy positions that she claimed were &#8220;incredibly popular&#8221; — such as working to lower the cost of prescription drugs and overall health care.
