Hollywood star Chris Pratt divided social media users after he made a sweet tribute to the mothers in his life on Mother’s Day, with some questioning why his post didn’t include — by name — his ex-wife Anna Faris.

On Sunday, the 43-year-old actor posted on his Instagram and on Twitter a message dedicated to “the mothers out there” and a special note to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, the mother of two of his kids, daughters Lyla and Eloise. The post included a family snap of him standing next to his mom Kathy Pratt, his wife, and mother-in-law Maria Shriver.

He captioned his post, “Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there. Especially grateful today for Katherine. You’re a wonderful partner. You’ve provided me such a blessed life. Our two daughters are so lucky to have you and you’re the best step mama to Jack.”

“And to my mom, Kathy, you raised us with such love and light and laughter — so grateful for you today and always,” he added. “And to Maria, the best Mama G, I’m lucky to have you as a mother-in-law. And to all of the other moms in my life, I’m so grateful for all you do — thank you so much. Hope you feel celebrated today.”

While there were many followers who praised the post, there were others who seemed to get upset with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” star because he didn’t mention Faris, the mother of his 10-year-old son Jack, by name, E! News noted.

“What about the mother of your son?” one person wrote.

Another added, “What about your first wife? she’s being super mom raising your first child.”

“That was very nice recognition of the mothers in your life, wife, mom, mom in law,” while another tweeted. “However it would not have killed you to acknowledge the mother of your first child by nam [sic], like really!”

And another wrote, “I literally wished my ex’s wife a happy mother’s day today. Like why wouldn’t you if you have kids in a blended family?”

Defenders of Pratt were quick to hit back and noted things like how, “All of those people making comments about Chris’s ex wife, she never made a father’s day post about him after they broke up either. Double standards and making him a villain over nothing. If it’s your ex partner you shouldn’t have to include them in anything unless you see fit. I’d do the same.”

“You all are clearly not children of divorce & it shows,” another added. “I don’t wish it on anyone, but it’s NOT normal for parents to make social media posts about their exes, even if they share children. I would never expect either of my parents to honor/celebrate anyone except their current spouses, no matter how cordial they may be.”
