A convicted killer who escaped from a prison in Pennsylvania has been seen with a new look, authorities said on Sunday as a manhunt for the fugitive stretched to its 11th day.
Pennsylvania State Police released four images showing Danelo Cavalcante, who has been identified as a 34-year-old illegal immigrant from Brazil, without the beard he was sporting during his get-away from the Chester County Prison about 40 miles from Philadelphia. He appeared to be standing on a porch.
“During the late evening and overnight hours, Cavalcante was reportedly seen in the northern Chester County area near Phoenixville. He changed his appearance,” Pennsylvania State Police said in a post to social media on Sunday with the images.
“He is now clean shaven and was wearing a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, black baseball style hat, green prison pants, and white shoes. If anyone has any information, please contact 911 or the Tip Line at 717-562-2987,” the post added.

Officials have described Cavalcante as an “extremely dangerous” man and urged the public to be vigilant.
Cavalcante was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole in the fatal stabbing of his former girlfriend in 2021. Prosecutors said Cavalcante wanted to stop the woman from telling authorities that he was wanted for a separate killing in Brazil, per the Associated Press.

The fugitive escaped prison on August 31 after he used two walls to climb out of a recreation yard, as shown in video footage released to the public. CBS Philadelphia reported that Cavalcante was scheduled to be transferred to a state correctional facility in about a month.

A prison guard who was on duty at the time of the escape has been fired, a county official told NBC News on Friday, noting that the guard had a cell phone in the tower in violation of policy.
Authorities have said Cavalcante has been spotted multiple times during the search. The sighting in Phoenixville was about 25 miles north of where authorities had been searching for him, according to The New York Times, but police said in a post just before noon on Sunday that investigative leads indicated Cavalcante was no longer in the area of the town.
Police also said on Sunday that Cavalcante was operating a 2020 White Ford Transit van bearing Pennsylvania registration ZST-8818 and a refrigeration unit on the top.
