<p style="font-weight: 400;">Kirk, 31, a father of two and the founder of Turning Point USA, had become a lightning rod for the MAGA youth movement. He was in the middle of his “American Comeback Tour” when he was gunned down. His message — calling on students to challenge him face-to-face — was a hallmark of his commitment to real dialogue in a culture increasingly allergic to dissent.</p>
<p style="font-weight: 400;">Abaraonye had previously debated Kirk at the Oxford Union in May. Kirk, ever the civil opponent, reportedly told him afterward to &#8220;think about&#8221; their exchange.</p>

<p>Polish officials said Wednesday its forces had shot down a “huge number” of Russian drones overnight that violated the country’s airspace during an attack on Ukraine.</p>
<p>Polish fighter jets, backed by NATO aircraft from Italy, the Netherlands, and Germany, intercepted and destroyed the drones, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said. He added that allies stood in solidarity with Poland and denounced Russia’s “reckless behavior.”</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Last night the Polish airspace was violated by a huge number of Russian drones. Those drones that posed a direct threat were shot down,” Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk <a href="https://x.com/donaldtusk/status/1965663914139824231">wrote</a> on X. “I am in constant communication with the Secretary General of NATO and our allies.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">He said 19 drones had been in Polish airspace, later telling Parliament that Russia had gone too far. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I have no reason to claim we&#8217;re on the brink of war, but a line has been crossed, and it&#8217;s incomparably more dangerous than before,&#8221; Tusk said, <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/poland-is-its-closest-open-conflict-since-world-war-two-pm-says-2025-09-10/">according</a> to Reuters. &#8220;This situation brings us the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II.”</span></p>

<p>The strike came shortly after Hamas rejected a new peace proposal from the Trump administration, calling it a &#8220;humiliating surrender document.&#8221; The proposal would have required Hamas to release all remaining hostages in exchange for Israel releasing thousands of Palestinian prisoners.</p>
<p>The events follow a separate Hamas terror attack in Jerusalem on Monday that killed six people and wounded 12 others.</p>

<p>In its annual revision, the BLS announced that from March 2024 to March 2025, the economy added 910,000 fewer jobs than was initially reported. The more than 50% downward revision means the economy was adding only 70,000 jobs per month during that period, not 147,000. The White House said the news makes it &#8220;very clear that President Trump inherited a much worse economy &#8230; than ever reported&#8221; and proves that the Federal Reserve&#8217;s interest rate policy has been &#8220;far too restrictive.&#8221;</p>
<p>The massive revision reinforces the president&#8217;s push to overhaul the BLS, an agency he has accused of producing inaccurate data. &#8220;Much like the CDC, everything is wrong with the Bureau of Labor Statistics,&#8221; said Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS), who is in charge of confirming Trump&#8217;s nominee to lead the agency. &#8220;We need someone &#8230; to come in there and turn that place upside down.&#8221;</p>
<p>The shocking report makes it much more likely that the Fed will finally cut interest rates later this month, a move President Trump has been demanding for months.</p>

<p>Polish and allied aircraft were activated early on Wednesday to safeguard Poland&#8217;s airspace after Russia launched an air attack on Ukraine&#8217;s western regions that border the NATO-member Poland.</p>
<p>&#8220;Polish and allied aircraft are operating in our airspace, while ground-based air defence and radar reconnaissance systems have been brought to the highest state of readiness,&#8221; the operational command of the Polish armed forces said in a post on X.</p>
<p>Earlier, Ukraine&#8217;s air force reported that Russian drones had entered NATO-member Poland&#8217;s airspace, posing a threat to the city of Zamosc, but the air force has since removed that statement from the Telegram messaging app.</p>
<p>As of 0000 GMT, most of Ukraine, including western regions of Volyn and Lviv, which border Poland, were under air raid alerts for several hours, according to Ukraine&#8217;s air force data.</p>
<p>Ukrainian media reported that several Russian drones crossed into Poland&#8217;s air space. Reuters could not independently verify the reports, and there was no official confirmation from Poland that Russian drones were in Poland&#8217;s airspace overnight.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Federica Polidoro sat down with “After the Hunt” stars Julia Roberts, Andrew Garfield, and Ayo Edebiri for an interview to promote the project. One moment from the conversation, posted to the ArtsLifeTV YouTube channel, has gone viral, with critics accusing Polidoro of being “racist” for directing one of her questions specifically to Roberts and Garfield, who are white, while being accused of excluding Edebiri, who is black.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Now that the #MeToo era and the Black Lives Matter are done, what do we have to expect in Hollywood and what we lost, we lost something with the politically correct era?” she asked.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Despite the question not being directed at her, Edebiri jumped in to answer it.</span></p>
<p>“I know that that’s not for me, and I don’t know if it’s purposeful that it’s not for me, but I just am curious,” the star of “The Bear” said.</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She went on, “I don’t think it’s done. I don’t think it’s done at all,” as Roberts chimed in with her agreement.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Edebiri went on: “I think maybe hashtags might not be used as much, but I do think that there’s work being done by activists, by people, every day, that’s beautiful, important work that’s not finished, that’s really, really, really active for a reason, because this world is really charged. Maybe if there’s not, like, mainstream coverage in the way that there might have been, daily headlines in the way that it might have been eight or so years ago, but I don’t think it means that the work is done. <p data-start="535" data-end="1095">Among those killed were Yaakov Pinto (25), an immigrant from Spain who had recently married; Rabbi Levi Yitzhak Pash, a yeshiva teacher; Israel Mentzer (28) and Yosef David (43), both residents of Ramot. Later, two other victims, including a woman in her 50s, succumbed to their injuries after being transported to hospitals. At least 21 people were injured, with several in critical or serious condition. The wounded were taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center and Hadassah-University Hospitals in Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus.</p>
<p data-start="1427" data-end="1751">A soldier and several civilians returned fire, killing the two terrorists at the scene. The attackers were later identified as being in their twenties and from Palestinian towns El-Kubeiba and Katanna, near Ramallah. Both Hamas<strong> </strong>and Palestinian Islamic Jihad praised the attack.</p>
<p data-start="1753" data-end="2321">Emergency responders described a scene of carnage. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics arrived rapidly, finding victims scattered across the road, sidewalks, and near the bus stop. “There was a lot of destruction, shattered glass, and people lying unconscious,” said MDA paramedic Nadav Taib. Multiple paramedics described working on critically wounded victims, including elderly individuals and young adults. MDA and United Hatzalah teams coordinated rapid evacuation efforts, with some victims receiving treatment on-site and others being transported under emergency conditions.</p>

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) dispatched four companies to Ramallah and surrounding villages for raids, interrogations, and area lockdowns. Authorities are working under the assumption that the attack might have involved logistical support or planning from others. “The Shin Bet security agency has arrested a resident of East Jerusalem on suspicion of helping carry out this morning’s deadly shooting attack in Jerusalem, Channel 12 reports,” The Times of Israel <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog-september-8-2025/">reported</a>.</p>
<p data-start="3002" data-end="3468">Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu <a href="https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/article-866735">visited the scene</a> shortly after the attack. “We are in an intense war against terror on several fronts,” he declared. He praised the heroism of those who acted quickly, including an ultra-Orthodox soldier from the Hashmonaim Battalion who helped neutralize the attackers. Netanyahu vowed to continue military operations in Gaza, Judea, and Samaria, promising that such attacks would only strengthen Israel’s resolve.</p>
<p data-start="3470" data-end="3860">President Isaac Herzog condemned the attack as an act of “absolute evil” and highlighted the bravery of civilians and responders. “In the face of this barbarity, we saw extraordinary acts of heroism,” he said. Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, speaking from Budapest, urged the international community to make a clear choice between supporting Israel or siding with jihadist terrorism.</p>

Among the myriad cases were the 2011 <a href="https://www.idf.il/en/mini-sites/palestinian-terrorism/today-we-remember-the-fogel-family-massacre/">massacre</a> of the Fogel family, whose father, mother, two sons, 11 and 4, as well as their three month-old sister, who was stabbed in her crib, were killed in their home; the abduction and murder of three teenage boys, Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaer, and Naftali Frankel, who were hitchhiking in Gush Etztion in 2014, and before that, of course, the Second Intifada.</p>
<p>According to the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Institute_for_Counter-Terrorism">International Institute for Counter-Terrorism</a>, <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_casualties_in_the_Second_Intifada">during</a> the Second Intifada, 887 of the 1,137 Israelis killed in attacks from September 2000 to 2005 were civilians.</p>
<p>Just between May 2001 and May 2002, prior to the bombing at Hebrew University, there were these massacres: five Israelis murdered by a suicide bomber at the HaSharon Mall in May 2001; 21 Israelis murdered by a suicide bomber at the Dolphinarium Discotheque in June 2001; 15 Israelis murdered by a suicide bomber at Sbarro’s Pizza in August 2001, including six children and a 31-year-old woman who was the only child of her parents and was five months pregnant; 11 Israelis murdered in a bus bombing on Ben Yehuda Street in Jerusalem on December 1, 2001; 15 more Israelis murdered the very next day in a Haifa suicide bombing; 11 more Israelis murdered in a bus attack 10 days later in Immanuel; six Israelis murdered in an attack at a bat-mitzvah in January 2002; 11 more Jews killed in an attack on a yeshiva in March 2002, including a five-month-old child; 11 Jews murdered in a bombing at Café Moment in March 2002; 30 Israelis killed as they celebrated Passover in Netanya on March 27, 2002; 16 Israelis murdered in a suicide bombing four days later at the Matza restaurant, and 16 Israelis murdered in Rishon LeZion in May 2002.</p>

<p>The United States is not talking about regime change in Venezuela, President Donald Trump said on Friday, as the United States ordered an additional 10 stealth fighter jets to a military buildup in the Caribbean.</p>
<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re not talking about that, but we are talking about the fact that you had an election which was a very strange election, to put it mildly,&#8221; Trump said, referring to the contested 2024 election the Venezuelan government says President Nicolas Maduro won.</p>
<p>Trump had been asked by reporters about a claim Maduro has made this week that the United States was seeking &#8220;regime change through military threat.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The government of the United States should abandon its plan of violent regime change in Venezuela and in all of Latin America and respect sovereignty, the right to peace, to independence,&#8221; Maduro said on state television.</p>
<p>&#8220;I respect Trump. None of the differences we&#8217;ve had can lead to a military conflict,&#8221; Maduro added. &#8220;Venezuela has always been willing to converse, to dialogue.&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump demonstrated his new approach to fighting the drug war with a U.S. military strike on Tuesday that killed 11 people and sank a boat from Venezuela which Trump said was transporting illegal narcotics.</p>
<p>The U.S. president is weighing options for further strikes, including potentially attacking suspected drug cartel targets inside Venezuela, CNN reported on Friday, citing multiple sources briefed on the administration&#8217;s plans. Such a strike would mark a major escalation.</p>
<p>The White House, Pentagon and State Department did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment on the report.</p>
<p>The Trump administration has ordered the deployment of 10 F-35 fighter jets to a Puerto Rico airfield to conduct operations against drug cartels, sources told Reuters on Friday.</p>
<p>The new deployment comes on top of an already bristling U.S. military presence in the southern Caribbean as Trump carries out a campaign pledge to crack down on groups funneling drugs into the United States.</p>
<p>The disclosure about the F-35s came just hours after the Pentagon accused Venezuela of a &#8220;highly provocative&#8221; flight on Thursday by fighter jets near a U.S. Navy warship.</p>
<p>Trump warned Venezuela that the U.S. military had authorization to shoot down the jets if commanders believed they needed to, saying: &#8220;If they do put us in a dangerous position, they&#8217;ll be shot down.&#8221;</p>
<p>At every turn, the Trump administration has sought to tie Maduro&#8217;s government to narco trafficking, allegations Caracas denies.</p>
<p>Specifically, Trump has accused Maduro of running the Tren de Aragua gang, which his administration designated a terrorist organization in February. Maduro has denied any connection to Tren de Aragua, which his government says was rendered inactive in Venezuela by a prison raid in 2023.</p>
<p>Trump on Friday compared the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Americans in overdoses to war dead, as he sought to justify the muscular military activity in the Caribbean.</p>
<p>&#8220;Think if you&#8217;re in a war and you lose 300,000 &#8230; We&#8217;re not going to allow it to happen,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Venezuela&#8217;s Communications Ministry did not respond to a request for comment about the F-35s or the allegations that Venezuelan fighter jets flew over a U.S. warship.</p>
<p>The sources, speaking on condition of anonymity about the latest U.S. deployment, said the 10 fighter jets are being sent to conduct operations against designated narco-terrorist organizations operating in the southern Caribbean. The planes should arrive in the area by late next week, they said.</p>
<p>F-35s are highly advanced stealth fighters and would be effective in combat against Venezuela&#8217;s air force, which includes F-16 aircraft.</p>
<p>A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said two Venezuelan F-16s flew over the guided missile destroyer Jason Dunham on Thursday. The Dunham is one of at least seven U.S. warships deployed to the Caribbean, carrying more than 4,500 sailors and Marines.</p>
<p>U.S. Marines and sailors from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit have also been carrying out amphibious training and flight operations in southern Puerto Rico.</p>
<p>The buildup has put pressure on Maduro, whom U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has called &#8220;effectively a kingpin of a drug narco state.&#8221;</p>
<p>Trump said on Tuesday that the U.S. military had identified the crew of the vessel as Tren de Aragua members.</p>

<p data-start="262" data-end="486">Israel successfully launched its Ofek-19 military spy satellite Tuesday night, which Defense Minister Israel Katz called both a major technological leap and a direct warning to the nation’s enemies.</p>
<p data-start="488" data-end="986">The satellite was launched from Palmachim Airbase via a “Shavit” rocket and entered its planned orbit, according to the Israeli Defense Ministry. Initial tests have shown that the satellite is functioning as expected and is already transmitting data. <p data-start="1561" data-end="1771">President Isaac Herzog of Israel, who attended the launch along with Katz and senior defense officials, called it a milestone for Israel’s high-tech leadership, stating, “We are not only a Start-Up Nation, we are a Space Nation.”</p>
<p data-start="1773" data-end="2177">Once operational, Ofek-19 will be handed over to the IDF’s elite Unit 9900, which specializes in visual intelligence. The satellite follows Ofek-13, launched in 2023, and is part of Israel’s broader plan to build a satellite constellation for intelligence dominance. Defense officials noted the satellite’s importance was highlighted during Operation Rising Lion, Israel’s recent confrontation with Iran.</p>
<p data-start="2179" data-end="2515">With imaging resolution down to under 50 centimeters, Ofek-19 provides Israel with unmatched surveillance capabilities — a “force multiplier” in modern warfare, as officials have described it. Katz called the achievement “a moment of immense national pride” and a clear sign that Israel’s eyes are now firmly in the sky.</p>

<p>Irish comedian Graham Linehan said he was arrested in London on Monday over social media posts deemed “transphobic.”</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 57-year-old celeb, who is best known for appearances in popular British comedies like “The IT Crowd” and “Father Ted,” said he was rushed to the hospital after being taken to jail due to high blood pressure likely caused by stress.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Linehan said he was greeted by law enforcement after he stepped off a flight from Arizona to London. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The moment I stepped off the plane at Heathrow, five armed police officers were waiting. They escorted me to a private area and told me I was under arrest for three posts on X,” he wrote in an op-ed for </span><a href="https://www.thefp.com/p/i-posted-on-x-the-british-police-arrested-me-free-speech"><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Free Press</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. “In a country where pedophiles escape prison, where knife crime is out of control, the state had mobilized five armed officers to arrest a comedy writer for these three posts.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Linehan said many law enforcement officers he encountered during the ordeal exhibited “bafflement” and seemed to have “absolutely no idea” what his alleged crime was.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But then, during an interview with one of the officers, the tone changed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“He asked about each of the posts in turn, with the sort of earnest intensity usually reserved for discussing something serious like. . . oh, I don’t know—crime?” Linehan wrote.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I explained that the post about punching a trans-identified man in a female-only space was a serious point made with a joke. Men who enter women’s spaces are abusers, and they need to be challenged every time.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The officer mentioned the term trans people. I asked him what he meant by the phrase. ‘People who feel their gender is different than what was assigned at birth,’” he continued. “‘Assigned at birth?’ I responded. ‘Our sex isn’t assigned.’ He called it semantics. I told him he was using activist language.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Irish comedian said a nurse checked his blood pressure, and it was in “stroke territory.” He was transported to the hospital and was put under observation. Linehan said the arresting officers offered him bail on the condition that he stop posting on X.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“I was arrested at an airport like a terrorist, locked in a cell like a criminal, taken to the hospital because the stress nearly killed me, and banned from speaking online—all because I made jokes on X,” he wrote.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“The UK has become a country that is hostile to freedom of speech, hostile to women, and far too accommodating to the demands of violent, entitled, abusive men who have turned the police into their personal goon squad.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The posts in question include one that says, “If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails, punch him in the balls.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another has a photo of a trans activist gathering and includes the caption, “A photo you can smell.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The third one says, “I hate them all. Misogynists and homophobes. F*** em.”</span></p>
