House Republicans on Tuesday called for the inspector general to open up an “immediate” investigation into FEMA over allegations that relief workers skipped the homes of Trump supporters throughout Florida and North Carolina, according to a letter first shared with The Daily Wire. 
House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Chair Sam Graves (R-MO) and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2024/12/2024-12-03-Letter-to-DHS-IG-re-FEMA.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">demanded</a> Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari probe allegations that fired FEMA supervisor Marn’i Washington&#8217;s instructions to “avoid homes advertising Trump” in Lake Placid, Florida, may have been part of a broader agency policy. 
“The Committee is requesting that you immediately open an investigation into the multiple allegations of the deliberate avoidance of homes with Trump campaign or political signs during the agency’s response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton,” Graves and Perry wrote, citing <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-fema-official-ordered-relief-workers-to-skip-houses-with-trump-signs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reporting</a> from The Daily Wire. 
Aside from Washington’s guidance, the lawmakers said that they were aware of allegations that FEMA workers bypassed entire neighborhoods in North Carolina where Trump supporters lived.
“In North Carolina, the Committee is aware of reports of FEMA employees skipping any home that displayed a ‘Make America Great Again,’ ‘Drain the Swamp,’ ‘Don’t Tread on Me’ or Trump campaign sign. If the FEMA field team encountered three or more of these signs, the field team could abandon the entire neighborhood without notifying hurricane victims of assistance available to them,” the lawmakers wrote. 
This information came from whistleblower conversations with lawmakers on the committee.
“The Committee is increasingly concerned that this discriminatory practice of avoidance was more widespread than reported, and could have harmed victims who may still be unaware of the Federal relief benefits available to them,” they added. 
Testifying on Capitol Hill last month, FEMA Director Deanne Criswell said that she believed the incident in Florida to be isolated and denied that FEMA had any &#8220;proactive&#8221; policies that would lead employees to skip homes.

When <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/whos-lying-top-republican-not-satisfied-with-fema-answers-on-trump-home-scandal" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pressed</a> by Perry during her testimony before the subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, Criswell said that she would request an investigation from the inspector general. Later that same day, Criswell told the House Oversight Committee that she had requested an “independent” investigation from Cuffari’s office. 
On Monday, the inspector general&#8217;s office told The Daily Wire it couldn’t comment on any potential investigation. 
“To protect the integrity of our work, and consistent with federal guidelines, DHS OIG does not comment on investigative matters,” a spokesman for the office said.

The FEMA supervisor who was fired after The Daily Wire revealed she directed disaster relief workers in Florida to &#8220;avoid homes&#8221; with signs advertising Donald Trump said on Tuesday that this was not an &#8220;isolated&#8221; incident, and is likely happening in disaster areas across the country. 
Marn&#8217;i Washington said that FEMA has a widespread policy of avoiding “politically hostile” homes during an <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5SP0jIZPs0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">interview</a> with Roland Martin. She said that FEMA&#8217;s suggestion that she made an independent decision to avoid certain homes is a mischaracterization, stating that it is agency policy.
“FEMA always preaches avoidance first and then de-escalation, so this is not isolated,&#8221; Washington said. &#8220;This is a colossal event of avoidance not just in the state of Florida, but you will find avoidance in the Carolinas.&#8221;

FEMA fired Washington on Saturday after The Daily Wire reported that whistleblowers said she directed them verbally and in a group chat to “avoid homes advertising Trump&#8221; when canvassing in Highlands County, Florida. 
FEMA told The Daily Wire on Friday that the guidance was an “isolated incident” and not approved by the agency. 
“The employee who issued this guidance had no authority and was given no direction to tell teams to avoid these homes and we are reaching out to the people who may have not been reached as a result of this incident.”

Washington said incident reports would substantiate incidents of avoidance because of “political hostility.” She asserted that there was a “community trend” of “hostility” coming from people with Trump yard signs or flags in Lake Placid. She said some examples of hostility included people saying things like &#8220;I don&#8217;t like FEMA,&#8221; &#8220;You&#8217;re part of the Biden-Harris campaign,&#8221; &#8220;You guys are lying to people,&#8221; and &#8220;You&#8217;re not helping people.&#8221; In one specific example, Washington said some workers were told to &#8220;drain the swamp and some other kind of crazy statements.&#8221; 
“FEMA’s very well aware of the incidents that take place, not just with my crew, but with all the crews in the states,” she said. 
Washington told Martin that her supervisors approved her avoidance of certain streets in Lake Placid. She showed a text message that she says was sent to a supervisor saying that one road was “politically hostile” and “we are not canvassing this street further.” The supervisor reportedly responded, “Great decision. Thanks for the update.”

FEMA has not responded to allegations from Washington, and did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

North Carolina was one of the seven swing states in 2024 – and the first to be declared for President-elect Donald Trump.
Previously, The Daily Wire laid out <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/swing-state-showcase-everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-race-in-north-carolina" target="_blank" rel="noopener">everything you needed to know</a> about the Tar Heel State heading into the election, so how did things play out?
Polling vs. Final Result
When President Joe Biden was the nominee, Trump polled with a 5-6 point lead in the state, but once Vice President Kamala Harris became the nominee, polling narrowed to give Trump just a 1.5 point lead.
With more than 95% of precincts reporting, Trump won the state by <a href="https://election.dailywire.com/?_gl=1*12pg71k*_gcl_au*MTMxNTMzNjQwMS4xNzI1ODkxMjg1*_ga*NDEzODkwMjcyLjE3MDY3OTk2MjI.*_ga_CZKR9ZYKJP*MTczMDkxNTE4MS4yOTcuMS4xNzMwOTE1MTk5LjQyLjAuMA.." target="_blank" rel="noopener">3.4 percentage points</a>, more than double what polling projected he would win by.
The Counties We Watched
Harris underperformed Biden’s 2020 totals in Mecklenburg County, the metro area around Charlotte; Wake County, the metro area around Raleigh; and New Hanover County, which contains the port city of Wilmington.
Biden won Mecklenburg County by 35.1 percentage points in 2020, but Harris won it by 32.8 percentage points. In Wake County, Biden carried the state by 26.5 percentage points in 2020, while Harris won it by 25.5 percentage points. There were no major drops, to be sure, but the data suggests that enthusiasm for Harris was not as high in 2024 as it was for Biden in 2020.

It should be noted that Harris won Wake and Mecklenburg counties by larger margins than Hillary Clinton won in 2016 or former President Barack Obama won in 2012. Neither Obama nor Clinton won North Carolina in 2012 or 2016. Biden also failed to win the state in 2020.
The third county, New Hanover, voted for the Republican presidential candidate in 2012 (Mitt Romney) and 2016 (Trump) but voted for Biden by 2.2 percentage points in 2020. On Tuesday, Harris won the county by 0.3 percentage points – and that’s with the influx of residents who moved to North Carolina from blue states during the COVID pandemic.
How Other Candidates Fared
As expected, Democrat Josh Stein won the governor’s race by double digits over Republican challenger Mark Robinson, who was relentlessly attacked for his comments about abortion.
Another hot race was the U.S. House of Representatives battle between incumbent Don Davis, a Democrat, and GOP challenger Laurie Buckhout. Davis was expected to retain his seat in his first term as a congressman – and he did.
Lest one think Republicans did poorly in the state other than Trump, the Tar Heel State voted for Judge Jefferson Griffin to the state Supreme Court. Griffin ran an ad that included a prominent image of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-athlete-severely-injures-girls-volleyball-player-with-spike-district-forfeits-games-for-girls-safety" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a Daily Wire article</a> about a trans-identifying male athlete injuring female volleyball players.
Republicans were also elected statewide to positions related to money, like treasurer and auditor. Democrat Jeff Jackson, however, won the attorney general race.
Key Ballot Measures
There was only one statewide ballot measure on Tuesday: an amendment to the state constitution prohibiting state and local governments from allowing non-citizens to vote.
It won overwhelmingly, with 77.59% of voters approving the measure.

Former President Donald Trump is projected to win the swing state of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/north-carolina" target="_blank" rel="noopener">North Carolina</a>, securing the state&#8217;s 15 Electoral College votes, according to a projection from Decision Desk HQ.
The race was called for Trump with 58% of the vote counted with Trump leading Harris 51.1% to 47.8%. Trump has now secured 210 votes in the Electoral College and only needs 60 more to reach the 270 threshold to be declared the winner.
In 2020, North Carolina was one of the states that former President Donald Trump held from his 2016 presidential victory.
For the last two months, the state has been recovering from devastating storms and historic flooding that it faced in September from Hurricane Helene.
There is no automatic recount that is triggered based on the election results, but a candidate who is behind may request one if they are down by 0.5 percentage points or less of the total number of votes.
Polls leading up to the election showed a tight race between the two candidates, with Trump leading Harris in the RealClearPolitics average by 1.2 points headed into Election Day.

North Carolina has seen a decrease in the amount of spending that has gone into political advertisements during the 2024 campaign cycle when compared to the amount of spending from 2020.
In 2020, nearly $617 million was spent in the state for all political races, with Republicans spending $269 million and Democrats spending $348 million.
However, those number have decreased by roughly $150 million in 2024, with both parties spending a combined total of $479 million on ads.
For the 2024 presidential race in the state, Democrats outspent Republicans $123 million to $84 million.

Trump Projected To Win North Carolina

Voters in storm-ravaged western North Carolina counties showed up to vote early at a higher rate than the statewide average, assuaging fears that Hurricane Helene&#8217;s destruction on the area, which is heavily Republican, would negatively affect turnout.
Early voting turnout in North Carolina set a record this year as more than 4.2 million people cast their ballots at early in-person locations before Election Day, according to the State Board of Elections, The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4969504-north-carolina-early-voting-record/?tbref=hp" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. The board added that the 25 counties affected by Helene saw a higher early voter turnout — 58.9% — than the statewide turnout, which was around 57%.
“I am proud of all of our 100 county boards of elections and the thousands of election workers who are making this happen in their communities,” said Executive Director of the State Board of Election Karen Brinson Bell. “And I am especially proud of the workers and voters of Western North Carolina. You are an inspiration to us all.”
Including absentee voting, North Carolina reported receiving nearly 4.5 million early votes as of Sunday morning. Early in-person voting in the state ended on Saturday afternoon. As of last Thursday, registered Republicans held a slight lead in total early votes cast in North Carolina, an important battleground state in the 2024 election. Unaffiliated voters surpassed registered Republicans in the final early vote tally, but Republicans beat out registered Democrats by over 40,000 early votes, DecisionDeskHQ&#8217;s Michael Pruser reported.

While the early voting numbers aren’t necessarily accurate predictions of who will win the state, they suggest that Republicans are off to a good start in North Carolina. Pruser added that Democrats could see an uptick in votes as absentee ballots continue to &#8220;roll in over the next three days,&#8221; but he said that among Election Day voters, &#8220;we&#8217;ll likely see an ever-so-slightly whiter, more Republican, and more male vote than the first 4.44 million voters.&#8221;

Trump is scheduled to hold rallies in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, while Harris will spend the day campaigning in the Keystone State. The latest polling shows that Trump has a narrow lead in Pennsylvania and North Carolina, and Harris has a slight edge in Michigan. 
The final day of campaigning comes as tens of millions of Americans have already voted, and the candidates have spent hundreds of millions of dollars.

Later in the North Carolina rally, Trump slammed Harris’ economic plans, saying that there would be major consequences for people’s livelihoods if she was elected.

The winner of the 2024 presidential election is likely to be decided by a handful of swing states, including North Carolina.
The state’s 16 electoral votes could be vital to whichever candidate wins them, so here’s what you need to know about the state of the race.
Polling
Other than a brief moment after she launched her candidacy, Harris has lagged behind Trump in the Tar Heel state. The former president’s lead has widened over the past few weeks, and he currently has a 1.5% lead in North Carolina,<a href="https://election.dailywire.com/?_gl=1*1bab5i1*_gcl_au*MTMxNTMzNjQwMS4xNzI1ODkxMjg1*_ga*NDEzODkwMjcyLjE3MDY3OTk2MjI.*_ga_CZKR9ZYKJP*MTcyOTg2MzI0OS4yNzAuMS4xNzI5ODYzMzE3LjU5LjAuMA.."> according to Decision Desk</a>.
Prior to Harris becoming the nominee, Trump looked to run away with the state, enjoying a 5-6% lead over President Joe Biden,<a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/north-carolina/trump-vs-harris"> according to RealClearPolitics</a>.
How North Carolina Has Voted In The Past
North Carolina has been a reliably red state for 10 out of the past 12 elections, only voting Democrat in 1976 (Jimmy Carter) and 2008 (Barack Obama). The odds are in Trump’s favor, as the state voted for him in 2016 and 2020.
Trump won the state in 2016 with 173,315 more votes than Hillary Clinton, The New York Times <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/elections/2016/results/north-carolina-president-clinton-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>,  getting 49.8% of the vote to Clinton&#8217;s 46.2%. Trump increased his vote share percentage in 2020 to 50.1%, but Biden narrowed Clinton&#8217;s loss to just 74,481 votes, or 48.7% of the vote, POLITICO <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2020/11/13/north-carolina-presidential-election-results-2020-433403" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, making North Carolina Trump&#8217;s narrowest victory of the election.
What The Candidates Are Saying
The Harris campaign has continued its national strategy in North Carolina, focusing on abortion and falsely claiming that Trump would sign a national abortion ban, an idea he has repeatedly disavowed. Harris has also claimed that Trump would cut taxes for billionaires while she would cut taxes for the middle class, even though her administration hasn’t done so. Trump’s administration did cut taxes for<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/04/14/business/economy/income-tax-cut.html"> nearly all Americans</a>, despite media claims otherwise. If Harris is referring to her plan to end taxes on tips, that is a plan she lifted from Trump.
Trump&#8217;s ads in the state have focused on Harris’s support for allowing illegal inmates in jail to receive taxpayer-funded sex changes.
What Early Voting Shows
North Carolina has seen an increase in early voting compared to 2016 and 2020. As of<a href="https://s3.amazonaws.com/dl.ncsbe.gov/Press/2024%20General/NC%20Absentee%20Stats%20for%202024%20General/2024-10-28%20Daily%20Absentee%20Stats%20Report%20-%202024%20General.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> Thursday morning</a>, more than 3.4 million people have voted in person, while another 190,000 have mailed in their ballots. At this point in 2020, 3.8 million people had voted early.
Of the ballots cast so far, 33.97% have been cast by registered Republicans and 32.68% have been cast by registered Democrats, with nearly 33% from unaffiliated voters.
When Can We Expect A Result?
Unlike other swing states, we shouldn’t have to wait days to know how North Carolina votes, Fox News<a href="https://www.livenowfox.com/news/north-carolinas-vote-counting-rules-timeline-explained"> reported</a>. Each county counts its absentee ballots through the end of Election Day and uploads them to a central system, meaning that counties can turn in their vote totals much earlier than states that count absentee ballots after Election Day.
Jason Roberts, a political science professor at the University of North Carolina, told Fox that about 90% of ballots should be counted by midnight on Election Day, so the winner of the state should be determined then.
The only votes that won’t be counted at that time are provisional ballots that are counted after the election, such as overseas voters.
What Counties To Watch
There are three counties to watch in North Carolina: Mecklenburg, the metro area around Charlotte; Wake, the metro area around Raleigh; and New Hanover, which contains the port city of Wilmington.
Biden carried all three counties in 2020, increasing both Barack Obama&#8217;s 2012 and Hillary Clinton’s 2016 totals in Mecklenburg and Wake. In Mecklenburg, Obama won the county by more than 22% in 2012, while Biden won it by more than 35% in 2020, NewsNation<a href="https://www.newsnationnow.com/politics/2024-election/counties-2024-election/"> reported</a>.
New Hanover, however, typically votes Republican. The county swung for Romney in 2012 and Trump in 2016, albeit by small margins. Biden won the county in 2020, even though Trump won the state. So, New Hanover will be a good bellwether for how the country may ultimately decide.
The problem for Republicans in the state is that, during the pandemic, many people from Blue states moved to North Carolina, and it remains to be seen whether they brought their failed political policies with them.
Voting Issues From 2020 To Now
Because North Carolina counts absentee ballots ahead of time, counting the votes was done on Election Day, without a prolonged count like in some swing states. The only slight controversy observed in 2020 was the disparity between polling, which showed Biden winning the state by a slim margin, and the actual results.
The North Carolina Supreme Court in 2023<a href="https://statecourtreport.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/north-carolina-supreme-court-upholds-voter-id-law-5-months-after-striking"> upheld a law</a>, previously struck down by a lower court, that requires voters to show ID when they go to the polls.
A lawsuit from the Republican National Committee attempting to remove 225,000 potentially ineligible voters from North Carolina’s voter rolls<a href="https://www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/federal-judge-dismisses-part-of-rnc-lawsuit-to-disqualify-225k-north-carolina-voters/"> has failed</a> ahead of the 2024 election, however. The RNC and the state Republican Party alleged in an August 23 complaint that North Carolina&#8217;s State Board of Elections had illegally registered &#8220;ineligible&#8221; voters, including potential non-citizens. The lawsuit was fought up to the Supreme Court, which dismissed Republicans&#8217; claims under a federal law, but sent a separate state constitutional claim back to the lower court.
Other Races To Watch
Even though the state routinely votes Republican in presidential elections, it has voted for Democrat governors in nine out of the last 12 elections. It appears 2024 will also go in the Democrat’s favor, with Josh Stein up 14 percentage points over Republican candidate Mark Robinson. It does not appear that Robinson’s poor performance will be a drag on Trump in the state. Robinson has been blasted for his past statements saying he would ban abortion without exception, with ads featuring his comments playing almost around the clock.
Neither of North Carolina&#8217;s two senators is up for re-election this year, and all but one House race appears to be settled already. Don Davis (D-NC), serving his first term in office, is currently fighting for re-election against Republican challenger Laurie Buckhout. The district has a +1 Republican advantage and is largely rural outside of a couple of cities. Decision Desk still gives Davis <a href="https://elections2024.thehill.com/forecast/2024/house/north-carolina-1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">a 76% chance</a> to win the seat, thanks to the incumbent advantage. It remains to be seen what kind of help Harris or Trump could provide for their respective parties in this race.
Key Ballot Measures
There is only one ballot measure on the ticket in North Carolina for 2024: an amendment to the state constitution that would prohibit state and local governments from allowing noncitizens to vote.
The American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina<a href="https://www.acluofnorthcarolina.org/en/news/vote-no-ncs-citizens-only-ballot-measure"> opposes the ballot</a>, saying it is already against the law for non-citizens to vote. Supporters, however, say the measure would ensure that state courts and lawmakers didn’t encourage non-citizens to vote in state and local elections.

Registered Republicans hold a slight lead in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/north-carolina" target="_blank" rel="noopener">North Carolina</a> over Democrats and unaffiliated voters in the early vote tally as of Thursday with nearly half of the state&#8217;s voters already casting a ballot.
According to the state&#8217;s latest update, which included early votes from Wednesday, around 3.62 million of North Carolina&#8217;s 7.82 million registered voters have cast a ballot, The Hill <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4964036-north-carolina-early-voting-data/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Of those early votes, registered Republicans account for 34% while registered Democrats account for 33% and unaffiliated voters also stand at 33%. While the numbers aren&#8217;t necessarily accurate predictions of who will win the state, they provide a small glimpse into how the state is trending.
Michael Pruser of DecisionDeskHQ reported that the total early turnout in North Carolina is around two-thirds of the total expected vote. Pruser added that unaffiliated voters, or &#8220;others,&#8221; will likely account for the most votes in the vital swing state if the current trend holds. Unaffiliated voters account for the largest voting bloc in the state at 37.8% while Democrats come in second at 31.3% and Republicans are 29.9% of the state&#8217;s registered voters.
&#8220;Like yesterday, &#8216;Others&#8217; ruled the day, but they did so convincingly this time. Republicans lead this group by just over 22,000 votes, and the trend suggests that by the time we&#8217;re finished, the Orange team [others] will be at the top,&#8221; Pruser wrote.

Early in-person voting in North Carolina is slightly above where it was at this point in 2020, but there has been a sharp decrease in absentee ballots counted this year compared to 2020, according to The Hill.
Both former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris have spent a lot of time campaigning in North Carolina, one of the seven battleground states in the 2024 election. Earlier this week, however, the Harris campaign <a href="https://www.carolinajournal.com/harris-campaign-cuts-ad-buys-in-north-carolina/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pulled</a> millions of dollars from North Carolina media markets, according to AdImpact, an ad tracking firm.

The polling in North Carolina remains close with Trump leading Harris by just 1 point, per the <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/north-carolina/trump-vs-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RealClearPolitics</a> average.
Trump won the state in both 2016 and 2020, but his margin of victory was much smaller over President Joe Biden than it was over Hillary Clinton. North Carolinians are also voting in an important gubernatorial race where Republican Mark Robinson is running against Democrat Josh Stein. The current governor, Democrat Roy Cooper, is term-limited.

On Wednesday, Ramaswamy &#8212; part of former <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump">President Donald Trump</a>’s team &#8212; posted a video on <a href="https://x.com/VivekGRamaswamy/status/1851739246744215897">X</a> showing him working a shift as a sanitation worker on his way to a campaign stop in Charlotte, North Carolina. It came after Biden called tens of millions of Trump supporters “garbage” on Tuesday during a Zoom call with Latino supporters while Vice President Kamala Harris was attempting to send a message of unity in her closing remarks of her campaign.
“Let’s do it, man,” Ramaswamy said as he and another sanitation worker collected trash on the street, as the other worker instructed him on how the truck worked.
“The machinery is good,” he added, before the two took off to collect more.

A short time later, video surfaced on <a href="https://x.com/RSBNetwork/status/1851753092662071431">X</a> of Trump also wearing sanitation attire while riding in a garbage truck that contained his name on the side of it while he was on his way to speak to supporters at a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
“I just wanted to let you know that 250 million people, that’s what I think the real number is for making America Great again, the real number,” Trump said. “They don’t think in terms of garbage … and Joe Biden should be ashamed of himself if he knows what he’s even doing.”
Harris and her surrogates have been busy trying to clean up comments Biden made when he referenced remarks an insult comedian made at Trump’s rally in Madison Square Garden.
“And just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a ‘floating island of garbage,'&#8221; Biden said in the call. “Well, let me tell you something. I don’t — I — I don’t know the Puerto Rican that — that I know — or a Puerto Rico, where I’m fr- — in my home state of Delaware, they’re good, decent, honorable people.”
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American.  It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been,&#8221; he added.

Country superstars came together and raised tens of millions of dollars at a benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Helene.
The Concert For Carolina, held in Charlotte on Saturday, raised $24.5 million dollars to help those in the southeastern states affected by the devastating hurricane that hit the area last month, Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/north-carolina-helene-victims-left-behind-get-help-from-star-studded-concert-carolina">reported</a>.
The event was put on by North Carolina country singers Luke Bryan and Eric Church — who were joined by such stars as James Taylor, Billy Strings, Keith Urban, and more — with 100% of the proceeds going to help those hurt by the hurricane that left more than 230 dead.
During the concert, Church announced that, through his Chief Cares Foundation, 100 homes were also being donated to those in need, the outlet noted.
&#8220;We&#8217;ve come up with a plan called Blueprint for the Blue Ridge. We&#8217;re going to put 100 families in homes that have lost their homes in Avery County and the surrounding areas — one of the worst hit areas,” the singer said. “In an area that I spent half of my years, an area I&#8217;ve had a lot of inspiration and gained a lot of inspiration, in an area I&#8217;ve made five records in. And we&#8217;re going to go and keep those people in their community, put a roof over their heads, let them interact with their community, let them be a part of their community, and let them help rebuild the community.&#8221;

Church and Combs previously announced that all proceeds from the show would be split 50/50 between Combs and Church’s foundation, <a href="https://www.wcnc.com/article/weather/hurricane/helene/hurricane-helene-benefit-concert-luke-combs-eric-church-james-taylor-billy-strings/275-e7bcfbfc-1d38-4312-9f47-60656ea00a73">WCNC </a>noted. Combs’ portion will be distributed among relief groups like Samaritan&#8217;s Purse and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Fox News noted.
The concert also follows massive personal donations from country superstars like <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/dolly-parton">Dolly Parton</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/jason-aldean">Jason Aldean</a>, and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/morgan-wallen">Morgan Wallen</a> to aid with hurricane relief efforts. Church and Combs previously spoke to <a href="https://www.billboard.com/music/country/luke-combs-eric-church-hurricane-helene-relief-concert-interview-1235796031/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter">Billboard</a> about a conversation the two singers had in the aftermath of the hurricane — a conversation that ultimately led to Saturday&#8217;s concert.
Combs — who went to Appalachian State University — said the morning after the hurricane hit, both of them “were just inundated with calls and texts and pictures and images from the areas.”
“I called Eric and was like, ‘Hey, let’s figure out how to do a show. I don’t know when, I don’t know where. We’ll worry about that later, but let’s just pool our resources,&#8217;” Combs said. “Let’s do what we do best and help in the way that is best suited to my abilities and Eric’s abilities’ and I think we’re doing that.”
“It was disbelief,” Church said. “These are areas that I knew and then I saw the photos and I didn’t recognize these areas. My family spends half the year in Banner Elk.”
“That’s as much home as Nashville is,” he added. “It was just this shock of I know what I’m supposed to be looking at, but that doesn’t look anything like what it looked like a week ago. I don’t think I’ve come to grips with it yet.”
