Democrat <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pennsylvania" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pennsylvania</a> election official Diane Ellis-Marseglia admitted that she was wrong to defy the state Supreme Court’s ruling to count faulty ballots in the 2024 election ahead of a recount in the state’s Senate race.
On Wednesday during a heated county meeting, the Bucks County commissioner pleaded with the voters to forgive her &#8212; though <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/people-violate-laws-any-time-they-want-dem-election-officials-state-willingness-to-defy-law-ahead-of-recount">Ellis-Marseglia</a> said last week that “we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter anymore in this country, and people violate laws any time they want” as she called for others to join her in violating the law, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/11/20/politics/pennsylvania-democratic-official-apologizes-for-comments-about-ignoring-election-laws/index.html">CNN</a> reported.
“The passion in my heart got the best of me and I apologize again for that,” the county commissioner <a href="https://x.com/Eddies_X/status/1859322671676142034">told</a> the crowd.
“I made a mistake, and because I am an elected official, I am held to a far higher standard than everybody else,” she added. “So, to the citizens I serve, I apologize, and I will continue to work hard for you and endeavor to not make such a mistake again.”

The race for the Senate seat in the swing state is close enough that it has triggered an automatic recount as Senator Bob Casey refuses to concede to Republican Dave McCormick, after multiple outlets, including the Associated Press and Decision Desk HQ, called the race for McCormick.
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court previously <a href="https://penncapital-star.com/election-2024/pennsylvania-election-chief-asks-state-supreme-court-to-end-mail-ballot-uncertainty-before-election-day/">blocked</a> an effort to count mail-in ballots with incorrect or missing dates on the outer envelopes &#8212; but that didn’t stop Democrats in the Bucks County Office of Commissioners from pushing for exactly that.

Last week, Gene DiGirolamo, the sole Republican on the three-person panel, introduced a motion to reject the attempt to count what the GOP <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/mccormick-campaign-sues-bucks-county-165814957.html">called</a> “noncompliant” ballots. In response, Marseglia dismissed the proposal out of hand.
“Not going to second that, mostly because I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter in this country and people violate laws any time they want,” she said. “So for me, if I violate this law, it’s because I want the court to pay attention to it.”
Marseglia and the second Democrat on the commission, Robert Harvie, voted to count the disqualified ballots.

Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro, considered one of the favorites for the 2028 Democrat presidential nomination, took the side of a court that ruled against Democratic officials who defied state law — but condemned such actions by officials after the court’s ruling.
On Monday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that counties must reject undated and misdated ballots after Democrat election officials openly defied the order last week. The officials’ actions came as the recount of the race between Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican Dave McCormick began. Casey would not concede after multiple outlets, including the Associated Press and Decision Desk HQ, called the race for McCormick.
Last week, Democrats in the Bucks County Office of Commissioners <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/people-violate-laws-any-time-they-want-dem-election-officials-state-willingness-to-defy-law-ahead-of-recount" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rejected</a> their Republican colleague’s motion to stop “noncompliant” ballots from being counted. The Democrats’ move came after the commonwealth’s Supreme Court granted the GOP’s request to block the counting of mail ballots without dates.

“It is critical to the rule of law that individual counties and municipalities and their elected and appointed officials, like any other parties, obey orders of this Court,” Justice David Wecht wrote in a 4-3 decision, according to <a href="https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4996749-pennsylvania-supreme-court-undated-mail-ballots/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a>. Casey’s campaign intervened to oppose the effort to stop undated mail ballots from being counted.
Shapiro issued no statement about the Democrat officials’ actions until the court ruled against his party. He blamed a “lack of clarity” due to “certain legislative actors refusing to act on critical election reforms” for the issue having to be resolved by the courts.

While Vice President Kamala Harris was giving her closing campaign speech in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, President Joe Biden called former President Donald Trump’s supporters “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-declares-trump-supporters-are-garbage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">garbage</a>.”
Following Biden’s comments, CNN anchor Kaitlin Collins <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/30/politics/video/josh-shapiro-biden-trump-supporters-remark-digvid" target="_blank" rel="noopener">asked</a> Pennsylvania Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro, who was passed over for Harris’ VP candidate, for his response to Biden’s remarks.
&#8220;I had not heard that until now, Kaitlin, so I&#8217;m kind of giving you my fresh reaction to it,&#8221; Shapiro said after Collins played the clip. &#8220;I would never insult the good people of Pennsylvania or any Americans even if they chose to support a candidate that I didn’t support.&#8221;
Collins then asked if Biden needed to clarify his comment, to which Shapiro replied: &#8220;Well, I think President Biden will decide what he wants to say. It&#8217;s certainly not words that I would choose, and I think it&#8217;s important that we remain focused on the contrast between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump and not attacking supporters of either candidate.&#8221;
Biden did <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-lies-to-explain-why-he-called-trump-supporters-garbage" target="_blank" rel="noopener">attempt to clarify</a> his comments, claiming he was only referring to an insult comedian who made a joke at a Trump rally in New York.

“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage—which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden <a href="https://x.com/JoeBiden/status/1851436643498037614">said</a> on X. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable.”
“That’s all I meant to say,” he continued. “The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation.”
Biden’s original statement, however, clearly referred to Trump supporters in the plural. Biden made his comments during a campaign call Tuesday night, saying, “Donald Trump has no character” and “He doesn’t give a damn about the Latino community.”
“Just the other day, a speaker at his rally called Puerto Rico a floating island of garbage,” Biden continued, referring to a joke made by a comedian at Trump’s Madison Square Garden rally over the weekend.
“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters,” Biden said. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it’s un-American. It’s totally contrary to everything we’ve done, everything we’ve been.”
After Biden made the remarks, leftist media outlets immediately began to insist that Biden did not say what everyone heard him say. The White House even released a <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/speeches-remarks/2024/10/29/remarks-by-president-biden-on-a-campaign-call/">transcript</a> that added an apostrophe to Biden’s comments in an attempt to change the meaning of Biden’s statement.

The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporter&#8217;s — his — his demonization of Latinos is unconscionable, and it&#8217;s un-American. It&#8217;s totally contrary to everything we&#8217;ve done, everything we&#8217;ve been.&#8221;
Yet, watching the video, viewers can clearly see that Biden began a new thought after saying “supporters,” despite what the transcript claims.
Media outlets also attempted to downplay the significance of Biden&#8217;s remarks, with some saying they didn&#8217;t matter because Biden isn&#8217;t running for president. This comes after the media has spent three days complaining about a comedian&#8217;s remarks at a Trump rally.

Kristen Welker, moderator of NBC&#8217;s &#8220;Meet The Press,&#8221; asked Shapiro if such an offer is legal after Musk <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-hands-man-1-million-check-at-town-hall-says-it-will-happen-every-day-until-election" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the idea during a town hall in Harrisburg, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/pennsylvania" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pennsylvania</a>, on Saturday night. Musk has been holding events in the swing state to rally support for former President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/donald-trump" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donald Trump</a>&#8216;s White House campaign.
&#8220;I think there are real questions with how he is spending money in this race, how the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania, but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians. That is deeply concerning,&#8221; Shapiro said.

Welker pressed Shapiro again on whether he thinks the offer was legal or not, to which the governor replied: &#8220;I think it&#8217;s something that law enforcement could take a look at. I&#8217;m not the attorney general anymore of Pennsylvania. I&#8217;m the governor, but it does raise some serious questions.&#8221;
Shapiro served as attorney general of Pennsylvania from 2017 to 2023 before becoming governor. Vice President Kamala Harris <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/josh-shapiro-and-other-vp-contenders-react-to-harris-walz-ticket" target="_blank" rel="noopener">considered</a> Shapiro as a running mate, among others, before she settled on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. The America PAC website <a href="https://petition.theamericapac.org" target="_blank" rel="noopener">says</a> one petition signer will earn $1 million in Pittsburgh on Sunday and a signer will get the same amount in Pennsylvania on Monday. Then, each day from Tuesday until November 5 — Election Day — one petition signer from the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, or North Carolina will earn $1 million. America PAC is also offering $47 to anyone who refers a registered swing state voter to sign the petition, and for Pennsylvania in particular, $100 for signers and those who refer another petition signer.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) struggled to defend Vice President Kamala Harris late last week when asked why she has flipped-flopped on her stances on energy.
The moment came during an interview with Margaret Hoover on PBS News&#8217; &#8220;Firing Line&#8221; when asked about why she has changed on everything from banning fracking to mandating electric vehicles.
&#8220;What I’d like to ask you, governor, is has she told you why she changed her position?&#8221; Hoover asked.
&#8220;We need to produce more energy in this country for our economy, for national security,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We’re producing more energy right now than ever before, and that’s something we should be proud of. I’m certainly proud of that as the governor of Pennsylvania, where we are a net energy exporter.&#8221;
While it is true that the U.S. is producing more energy now than ever before, the rate of new energy production has slowed under the Biden-Harris administration and has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bidens-war-on-oil-and-gas-has-cost-the-u-s-250-billion-in-lost-gdp-study">cost</a> the U.S. hundreds of billions of dollars in lost GDP.
&#8220;I think Kamala Harris’s views on this issue have changed and as I have said and you cited, I think it’s a sign of strength,&#8221; he claimed. &#8220;She listened to people. She evolved on the issue.&#8221;
Hoover pressed Shapiro to give a specific reason to explain why she was changing.
&#8220;We have not had a direct conversation about this issue in particular,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I think what is clear to me, this is my interpretation, is that she’s listened and she has seen the power that natural gas, the power that our energy sources domestically here in the United States have in strengthening our economy, in strengthening our national security, just as Joe Biden in ‘87 talked about.&#8221;
Hoover noted that the worry and concern from voters is that &#8220;she’s just changed for political reasons.&#8221;
&#8220;Whereas if there was a real clear national security rationale or reason that felt believable, that that would make it more believable,&#8221; she said.
Shapiro responded by saying: &#8220;Well look, I think that’s on the vice president to explain her rationale on this.&#8221;

Representative Kathy Manning posed for a picture with Stein and Josh Shapiro at a campaign event in Greensboro, NC, after parts of North and South Carolina were completely destroyed due to the hurricane that hit the area on Friday night.

As of mid-day Monday, the <a href="https://apnews.com/article/hurricane-helene-north-carolina-asheville-f02869c7d01e68f2d7f0553abb82252f">Associated Press reported</a> at least 130 deaths across multiple states, including <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/devastating-flooding-from-helene-besets-north-carolinas-asheville-local-death-toll-reaches-30">30 people killed</a> in the county where Asheville, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/north-carolina">NC</a>, is located, and efforts to provide relief to flooded areas were ongoing.
Reading through the comments, many people called the image of the three smiling at the event “disgusting” and “tone deaf.”
“You have to be kidding me,” one person <a href="https://x.com/wendyp4545/status/1840573972938666260">wrote</a>. “The Western part of the state has thousands of people missing.  More than 30 dead and you had a party here today? None of you deserve your jobs.”
Another <a href="https://x.com/BasedSavannah/status/1840555730849415491">added</a>, “The perfect picture of EVERYTHING wrong with our country. Democrats fundraising in NC while many in our state are devastated right now and have lost EVERYTHING. Vile, evil and disgusting,  ALL of you.<a href="https://x.com/hashtag/ncpol?src=hashtag_click"> #ncpol</a>.”
While a third <a href="https://x.com/Itsjoeco/status/1840563279950660044">wrote</a>, “Hope the fundraising went well please don&#8217;t look a few miles to the west or you might find a national tragedy that the administration is ignoring.”
Others <a href="https://x.com/jedi_medic217/status/1840557748108296239">pointed</a> out that campaigning while people were “literally dying in the mountains” was disgraceful. “What the hell is wrong with you people?”
“<a href="https://x.com/joshstein">@JoshStein</a>, you have got thousands of people missing in western Carolina, total destruction and deaths and you are fundraising and posting it on Twitter,” another person wrote. “You just lost the election.”

You could not reschedule a cash grab and social event to go to work for the people of your state who are dying, or who have lost everything. On Wednesday night, after Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro spoke at the Democratic National Convention, former President Donald Trump took aim at not only Shapiro but also Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris, correctly pointing out the Democrats’ abandonment of the Jewish state and his own unmatched record of support for Israel.
Shapiro, who is Jewish, was passed over for Harris’ vice-presidential slot in a move that was widely considered to be Harris’ fear of the anti-Semites and anti-Israel members of the Democratic Party. In his speech, he never mentioned Israel once or anything regarding foreign policy, instead claiming Harris and the Democrats are the party of “freedom.”

Trump wasted no time in targeting Shapiro and Harris for their lack of support for the Jewish state, writing on <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/113003710039708925">Truth Social</a>, “The highly overrated Jewish Governor of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, made a really bad and poorly delivered speech talking about freedom and fighting for Comrade Kamala Harris for President, yet she hates Israel and will do nothing but make its journey through the complexities of survival as difficult as possible, hoping in the end that it will fail. Judge only by her actions!”
Trump’s point regarding Harris making Israel’s journey for survival as difficult as possible has been borne out by her administration’s insistence on slow-walking military aid to Israel, and their pressure on Israel to make concessions to the terrorist group Hamas. Harris’ own remarks after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cotton-blasts-dangerous-liberal-harris-over-comments-after-netanyahu-meeting">considered</a> to be <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-calls-harris-disrespectful-to-israel-after-netanyahu-meeting">undermining</a> the Jewish state.

Trump’s claim of his unmatched support for Israel is accurate. In 1995, Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995, which recognized Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel and called for Jerusalem to remain an undivided city. It called for setting aside funds to relocate the American Embassy to Jerusalem by 1999. The law allowed the President to invoke a six-month waiver of the application of the law and reissue the waiver every six months on &#8220;national security&#8221; grounds. The waiver was repeatedly renewed by Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama.
But Trump made the move happen in 2018. On February 23, 2018, Trump announced that the US Embassy in Israel would reopen in Jerusalem on May 14, 2018, to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. In addition, Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights, an area that was vital to Israel’s national security interests, as its enemies would fire down at Israelis in every previous war.

Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris has selected Mostly Peaceful Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Mostly Peaceful Walz won the spot after Kamala rejected Pennsylvania Governor Joshua Shapiro. The rejection of Shapiro was not due to anti-Semitism according to DNC Spokesman Mohammed Akhbar Jihad Mohammed Jihad Akhbar. Akhbar said Kamala was just worried Shapiro might be mistaken for a Jew by Democrats and other people who don’t like Jews.
Shapiro had tried to circumvent the issue by changing his name to O’Connor and publicly eating a ham and cheese sandwich but his efforts failed when Democrat operatives discovered an op-ed he had written in college in which he said a Palestine-Israel two state solution might be difficult since everyone in Palestine has sworn to murder everyone in Israel. Between bites of his ham and cheese sandwich, Governor O’Connor apologized for the op-ed, saying he had written it when he was young and still believed honesty was the best policy. He also apologized for serving in the Israeli Defense Forces under the mistaken impression IDF stood for International Disney Funhouse, and he apologized for praying in Hebrew saying he could have sworn it was Latin. But after much thoughtful deliberation, Democrats still felt there was just something a little Jewy about the guy, and sent him home, saying his integrity would be returned to him at a later date, if they could find it.
So the position fell to Mostly Peaceful Tim Walz, who earned his nickname after allowing Minneapolis to burn to the ground during the mostly peaceful George Floyd riots. Governor Mostly said he would have sent the National Guard into Minneapolis sooner, but his wife was enjoying the smell of America in flames and he just loves that woman so, so much.

Journalists and other Democrats immediately went to work trying to frame Governor Mostly as a moderate, describing him with words like “folksy,” “Mid-Western” and “not-entirely-Stalinist.” An editorial in the New York Times, a former newspaper, said, “Progressivism is great, but Governor Mostly Peaceful is not progressive, but if he were it would be great, but he’s absolutely not, though it’s totally great he is, if he were, which we assure you he isn’t, but it’s a great thing to be, though he’s not.”
Still there are some signs that the Mostly Peaceful folksy Midwesterner might be just a tad to the left of, say, the people he allowed to burn down Minneapolis. For instance, Governor Mostly once said, “One man’s socialism is another man’s neighborliness,” — which, of course, is true if another man’s neighbor steals all his money at gunpoint and distributes it among his political allies.
Governor Mostly also signed a bill allowing Minnesota doctors to cut off a child’s sexual organs if the child believes he’s the opposite sex. Kids who believe they’re pirates can also have one eye removed and one of their legs replaced with a wooden peg. And if they believe they’re Superman, doctors are allowed to throw them off the top of a building. The law — called the Fantasy Affirming Care Act — was largely written by Richard Levine on the walls of his cell in Arkham Asylum, before he escaped to resume his reign of terror as supervillain Admiral Rachel.
Some Minnesotans protested the Fantasy Affirming Care Act, saying it robbed parents of their rights, but those protestors fell silent after Mostly Peaceful Governor Tim Walz passed a new abortion law, allowing a child to be aborted right up until the moment he learned not to criticize Mostly Peaceful Governor Tim Walz. Governor Mostly said the law, called the Cat Lady Affirming Care Act, was meant to ensure Minnesota women would have no stake in the future, and would therefore feel perfectly comfortable with socialism.
Governor Mostly made his first appearance as a VP candidate at a huge rally of Democrats who were absolutely thrilled to be voting for animate, sentient human beings whoever the hell they were. As the governor spoke, one enthusiastic voter told reporters, “I am so happy we have candidates who will continue the policies that have left America weak and broke on the verge of World War III. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go join my husband onstage.”

CNN&#8217;s Van Jones said on Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris deciding to pick Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) to be her running mate and not Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D) was about &#8220;caving&#8221; to far-Left voices within the Democratic Party that are anti-Semitic.
Jones made the remarks after being asked on the network about Harris&#8217; decision not to go with Shapiro, who was viewed by many strategists as the strongest pick she could have made.
&#8220;The conservatives, the right-wing, the Republicans, they were chewing their fingernails down to the knuckle because they were afraid of a Josh Shapiro,&#8221; Jones said. &#8220;They were afraid of a Mark Kelly. They&#8217;re not as afraid of this new governor because they think they can define him.&#8221;
&#8220;Here&#8217;s the challenge you&#8217;ve got in this party, and people don&#8217;t want to talk about it, but we&#8217;ve got to talk about it,&#8221; he continued. &#8220;On the one hand, you have a lot of young people who are concerned about Gaza. You have a lot of Muslims and Arabs and others. They have not felt seen by the Biden administration. You start right here in that genocide joke that was building. And so those folks needed to have a candidate that they could feel comfortable with. This helps them in that regard.&#8221;

Governor Tim Walz (D-MN) made his debut as Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a>&#8216; running mate on Tuesday with an attempted roast of their Republican opponents, former President Donald Trump and Ohio Senator JD Vance — and while he got some laughs from the Philadelphia audience, he joined Harris in delivering very little substance.
Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) introduced Harris in a wild rant that immediately drew comparisons to the scream that is credited with killing former Governor Howard Dean&#8217;s (D-VT) 2004 presidential run.

Harris introduced Walz with a joke, laughing at herself as she claimed that pitting the Minnesota liberal against someone like Vance was like playing the varsity against the JV team.

When Walz took over, he tried to keep the jokes flowing, but managed to trip over his own record — and an admitted lie about JD Vance — in the process.
First, Walz claimed that violent crime had been up under Trump and added a jab at the continuing court cases against the former president: &#8220;And that&#8217;s not even counting the crimes he committed.&#8221;

But Walz, as a number of critics pointed out earlier that day, was in charge of Minnesota when <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/walz-shifted-blame-to-city-leaders-for-abject-failure-in-response-to-2020-minneapolis-riots" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rioters</a> burned half of Minneapolis to the ground after George Floyd died in police custody — and Harris, for her part, helped <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/report-kamala-harris-backed-minneapolis-freedom-fund-bailed-out-dangerous-criminals-along-with-protesters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raise bail money</a> for the perpetrators.

Walz and Shapiro were reportedly the final two frontrunners.

Shapiro indicated he would be in attendance, <a href="https://x.com/JoshShapiroPA/status/1820827281658446166" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying on X</a>, &#8220;See you tonight in Philly.&#8221;
Beshear <a href="https://x.com/AndyBeshearKY/status/1820834225014047045" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on X that it was an &#8220;honor&#8221; to be considered in the process. Walz &#8220;is a great friend and a great choice,&#8221; Beshear said, adding that he &#8220;fully&#8221; supports the ticket and will work to get Harris elected president.
Also on X, Kelly <a href="https://x.com/CaptMarkKelly/status/1820831959347798381" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> Harris and Walz &#8220;are going to move us forward&#8221; and are &#8220;already building a campaign to unite our country.&#8221; Kelly added that he and his wife, Gabby Giffords, are &#8220;ready to do everything we can to help them win.&#8221;
Like Kelly, Buttigieg did not mention the vetting process in his first public statement about the Harris-Walz ticket.

Since President Joe Biden’s decision to step down from his 2024 campaign, speculation has swirled over who Vice President <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/kamala-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kamala Harris</a> might choose to be her running mate. That is all expected to end within hours.
Several names have appeared in lists of potential vice <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/details-emerge-about-harris-vp-announcement" target="_blank" rel="noopener">presidential candidates</a>, including Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly. Other names have been floated — including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who, like Harris, ran an unsuccessful campaign for president in 2020.
<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/03/politics/harris-vp-vetting-team-finalists/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CNN</a> reported that Harris was set to meet with her “vetting team” on Saturday for briefings on the candidates, and that the final contenders would engage in meetings with the vice president.
With the announcement of her running mate expected on Tuesday, the pool was <a href="https://www.reuters.com/world/us/kamala-harris-announce-vice-president-pick-before-battleground-states-tour-2024-08-05/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reportedly</a> narrowed to just two candidates by Monday— Josh Shapiro and Tim Walz.
According to CPAC rankings, while Shapiro and Walz might come across as moderate, they are both extremely progressive. As The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/cpac-scores-show-how-far-left-harris-vp-contenders-are?topStoryPosition=2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>, Walz “signed legislation giving illegal immigrants drivers licenses, and making the state a sanctuary state for child sex changes,” and Shapiro funded sanctuary cities and promoted DEI in state government, among other things.
Following the running mate announcement, Harris and her vice presidential candidate will reportedly hold a rally in Philadelphia, then go on a multi-state tour.
The two candidates rumored to be at the top of Harris&#8217; list, Shapiro and Walz, could boost Harris in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Minnesota. As of publication, former President Donald Trump is leading in <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/pennsylvania/trump-vs-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pennsylvania</a> by 1.8% and Harris is leading in <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/president/general/2024/minnesota/trump-vs-harris" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Minnesota</a> by roughly 8% — though only two recent polls appear in the RealClearPolitics average for Minnesota, so the data is less reliable.
Walz has emerged late as a contender, with much of the early attention falling on Shapiro. Walz will face criticism for his role as Minnesota&#8217;s governor during the Black Lives Matter riots of 2020 after the death of George Floyd — the riots he allowed to envelop the city caused hundreds of millions of dollars worth of property damage. Walz himself admitted that the government response was an &#8220;abject failure,&#8221; according to the local <a href="https://www.startribune.com/gov-tim-walz-laments-abject-failure-of-riot-response/570864092">Star Tribune</a>.

Harris has experienced a fairly significant polling bounce in the aftermath of Biden&#8217;s departure, and appears to be gaining ground in states in which the president was lagging behind Trump. Her selection of a vice presidential candidate, as well as the excitement surrounding the Democratic National Convention later this month in Chicago, may well propel her further.
Harris, however, is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-harris-still-hasnt-done-a-major-interview-15-days-after-biden-dropped-out">yet to sit for an interview</a> — or even answer a single question — in the more than two weeks since she was elevated to the top of the ticket.
The announcement comes, also, as the Biden-Harris administration faces headwinds with crises both domestic and abroad. The stock market crashed on Monday, with the Dow Jones falling by more than 1,000 points, and the Middle East appears headed for full-scale conflict, with Iranian forces firing missiles on Monday at a U.S. military base in Iraq.

He acknowledged the affair on Sunday, stating: &#8220;I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side.&#8221;
