<p>Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Martin Makary says his agency is working hard to bring back &#8220;gold standard science&#8221; while Americans&#8217; trust in science and medicine is at historic lows.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have brought back gold standard science and taken politics out of the process,&#8221; Makary told The Daily Wire during an exclusive interview this week. &#8220;We&#8217;ve been going hard on what&#8217;s right. Be it the COVID vaccine, be it getting back to basic science — gold-standard science &#8230; We are going up against Big Food, Big Pharma, and we aren&#8217;t afraid to stand up to them.&#8221;</p>
<p>Makary has drawn criticism from both sides of the aisle during his 14 months as FDA Commissioner. <a href="https://democrats-energycommerce.house.gov/media/press-releases/ec-democrats-demand-answers-fdas-covid-vaccine-memo" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democrats</a> have criticized his vaccine policies, while pro-life groups have called for his resignation over what they say is inaction on Biden-era abortion pill regulations. Asked about safety concerns surrounding the abortion drug mifepristone, Makary told The Daily Wire the FDA is committed to addressing these concerns and that a study on the drug&#8217;s safety is underway.</p>
<p>&#8220;There needs to be a good, detailed granular study for mifepristone, which to date has not been done. We have committed to conducting a granular study,&#8221; Makary told The Daily Wire. &#8220;We&#8217;re doing it the right way, and that study will inform any potential next steps.&#8221;</p>
<p>But <a href="https://www.fda.gov/about-fda/fda-organization/martin-makary" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Makary</a> has experience swimming through the turbulent waters of public opinion. A pioneering surgeon at Johns Hopkins University, Makary is the author of more than 300 peer-reviewed medical journal articles and was one of the few scientists calling out the politicization of science during the COVID pandemic.</p>
<p>Under Makary, the FDA is on a mission to make American children healthier, find new treatments for diseases, and regain America&#8217;s place as a world leader in scientific breakthroughs.</p>
<p>&#8220;When I came into office 14 months ago, the year prior, China was doing four times the number of phase one trials as the United States,&#8221; Makary said. &#8220;In the first Trump administration, the U.S. was the leader, and that changed under the Biden administration. We walked into a mess.&#8221;</p>
<p>Makary says the agency is achieving its mission in record time. Within weeks of his March 2025 Senate confirmation, the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services announced an initiative to phase out petroleum-based food dyes, something Makary says the FDA talked about doing for decades.</p>
<p>&#8220;We announced action to remove all nine artificial dyes from the U.S. food supply,&#8221; Makary told The Daily Wire. &#8220;A lot of companies are ahead of schedule. It is a tremendous success. These are petroleum-based artificial dyes. American kids don&#8217;t need more petroleum in their bodies.&#8221;</p>
<p>In the past 14 months, the FDA has also taken steps to <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/wtas-fda-announces-major-steps-implement-real-time-clinical-trials.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">modernize</a> and increase the efficiency of drug applications and trials. The FDA launched the Commissioner&#8217;s National Priority Voucher program, which <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CzMG6_hOB5w" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reduces wait times</a> for drug applications and allows therapies for rare diseases to forgo randomized trials, which are <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/press-room/wtas-fda-launches-framework-accelerating-therapies-ultra-rare-diseases.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">difficult</a> to conduct due to small patient populations.</p>
<p>&#8220;We introduced a new pathway to approve drugs at the speed patients would demand if they&#8217;re suffering from a terminal or debilitating condition,&#8221; Makary said. &#8220;Typically, the FDA takes a year to review and file a drug application. We have that down now to one to two months, regularly.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Daily Wire asked Makary about criticisms he&#8217;s faced over the FDA&#8217;s rejection of several drug applications, including those for cancer treatments. Patient groups say Makary&#8217;s FDA is <a href="https://www.wsj.com/opinion/president-trumps-marty-makary-problem-08ebd71a">slow-walking</a> rare disease drugs, making companies jump through unnecessary hoops in order to get approval for things like Huntington&#8217;s Disease.</p>
<p>But Makary says it&#8217;s simply a matter of good science.</p>
<p>&#8220;There&#8217;s a very simple system at the FDA: if the drug works, it gets approved,&#8221; Makary told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>In an effort to regain the public trust in science and medicine, the FDA is giving the public unprecedented transparency of the drug application process.</p>
<p>&#8220;If the drug fails in its trial and the FDA does not approve it, in my opinion, the public deserves to know why. So we have taken the bold step of making our decision letters public information.&#8221;</p>
<p>The FDA has posted the complete response letters of approved and non-approved new drug applications on its<a href="https://open.fda.gov/apis/transparency/completeresponseletters/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> website</a>.</p>
<p>&#8220;In the past, politics has resulted in overruling scientists at the agency. But in this Trump administration, we stand by our scientists,&#8221; Makary told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>&#8220;Every time the commissioner has overruled scientists at the FDA, it&#8217;s been a fiasco. The Biden administration overruled scientists who recommended against approving the Covid vaccine for healthy children. It was a fiasco.&#8221;</p>
<p>The FDA is also taking bold steps to improve the quality of school lunches and baby formula.</p>
<p>After hearing from parents wanting better quality food in schools, the FDA launched a <a href="https://x.com/DrMakaryFDA/status/2045249715642495124?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pilot</a> program giving schools resources to provide healthier meals to students. The program has been hugely successful, showing a 70 to 80% reduction in pesticides and 80% to 90% reduction in heavy metals contained in school lunches, Makary told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>&#8220;We proved that you can make a switch to healthier food in an affordable way,&#8221; Makary said.</p>
<p>On April 29, the FDA released results of the <a href="https://www.fda.gov/news-events/press-announcements/fda-releases-results-largest-ever-testing-infant-formula-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">largest-ever testing</a> of infant formula in the United States, testing more than 300 infant formula samples for contaminants such as mercury, lead, and forever chemicals like PFAS. The testing found the samples overwhelmingly had undetectable or very low levels of contaminants, which Makary called a &#8220;resounding success.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Many companies find it too hard to bring new products to market because you have to follow a rigid recipe,&#8221; Makary said. &#8220;So we are modernizing the monograph that&#8217;ll enable more companies to come to market, that will both lower prices and create more options for moms that are healthier, while at the same time, make the supply chain more resilient.&#8221;</p>
<p>In the midst of swirling public opinion, Makary remains focused on the FDA&#8217;s mission to promote strong science and healthier Americans.</p>
<p>&#8220;We set the priority of the agency to a simple mission of more cures, meaningful treatments, and healthier food for children.&#8221;</p>

<p>Incarcerated women are suing a state prison system that allows violent “transgender” men to be housed in female prisons.</p>
<p>The Washington Department of Corrections (DOC) gives violent male convicts who self-identify as transgender full access to women’s prisons, including cells, bathrooms, and showers. The America First Policy Institute (AFPI) argues these actions are discriminatory and unsafe. By forcing women to share a prison with violent men, Washington DOC is violating the fundamental constitutional rights of women to be safe while incarcerated, according to a <a href="https://www.americafirstpolicy.com/assets/uploads/files/AFPI_WDOC_Complaint_04.27.26.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> filed on April 27.</p>
<p>“Washington’s housing policy subjects women to cruel and unusual punishment by disregarding the biological differences that justify sex-separated facilities in the first place,” Leigh Ann O’Neill, an AFPI attorney representing the plaintiffs, told The Daily Wire. “I am proud to support this action on behalf of the female inmates.”</p>
<p>The lawsuit highlights public data showing that over 50% of males in federal prisons who self-identified as transgender between May 2024 and January 2025 were sex offenders. Placing male sex offenders in women&#8217;s prisons has resulted in physical and sexual assaults against women.</p>
<p>&#8220;The housing of these male inmates with females — including as bunkmates in the same cell — has led to multiple instances of violence and sexual abuse against the female inmates, persistent harassment, and the routine intimidation of female inmates in violation of their fundamental constitutional rights to serve their sentences in safety and without further punishment,&#8221; states the lawsuit. &#8220;[Washington] DOC&#8217;s Transgender Inmate Policy exposes female inmates to a population statistically more likely of having committed a sexual offense, and only females can become pregnant as a result of these offenses.&#8221;</p>
<p>The plaintiffs, the Foundation Against Intolerance &amp; Racism, Inc., and Faith Booher-Smith, are suing the Washington DOC and Tim Lang in his official capacity as Secretary of the Department of Corrections.</p>

<p>“Williams approached her silently from behind and struck her on the side of her face with his fist, then grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground before kicking her repeatedly with such force that she sustained visible injuries, including, facial bruising, a laceration in her mouth, and swelling to her jaw and eye,” states the lawsuit.</p>
<p>Williams is described in the lawsuit as a “six-foot-four, ‘biologically intact’ male” and “convicted child sex offender” that allegedly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/male-sex-offender-claims-to-be-trans-accused-of-harassment-in-womens-prison" target="_blank" rel="noopener">assaulted</a> and harassed his former cell mate, Mozzy Clark.</p>
<p>“As Ms. Clark has alleged, Williams sexually assaulted her for months during the time she was forced to share a cell with him,” states the lawsuit. “Williams masturbated in front of her, groped her while she slept, and repeatedly threatened her with rape.”</p>
<p>Clark brought allegations against Williams in a <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.wawd.343153/gov.uscourts.wawd.343153.1.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> she filed against the Washington DOC in December 2024.</p>
<p>Claiming he did not feel safe “being classified as male,” Williams repeatedly asked to be transferred to WCCW, public <a href="https://cdn01.dailycaller.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Doc2-copy.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">records</a> show. A Washington DOC Housing Assignment Review committee denied his request in November 2019, recommending instead that he was transferred to a single cell in a male prison due to his “past violence towards women,” public records <a href="https://cdn01.dailycaller.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/Doc1-copy-1.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">show</a>.</p>
<p>When Williams requested to be transferred to WCCW in the summer of 2021, Eric Jackson, the former Superintendent of a male prison where Williams had been incarcerated, recommended against his transfer to WCCW due to his history of violence against women.</p>
<p>“Due to Williams&#8217; serious infraction history and the most recent conviction where Williams assaulted and inflicted serious life-threatening injuries to a female victim, would not recommend placement at WCCW,” a document from August 2021 exclusively obtained by The Daily Wire states.</p>
<p>Despite these recommendations, the Washington DOC moved Williams to WCCW in the fall of 2021 in alignment with its transgender housing policies. Within months of his arrival to WCCW, Williams allegedly assaulted Clark.</p>
<p>Williams is serving a sentence for first-degree assault and has an <a href="https://doc.wa.gov/sentencing-frequently-asked-questions" target="_blank" rel="noopener">earned release</a> date of 2038, according to previous <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2025/05/08/exclusive-male-transgender-inmate-who-allegedly-terrorized-female-cellmate-long-history-prison-violence/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reporting</a>. He is currently being housed in a male prison, according to the Washington DOC <a href="https://vinelink.vineapps.com/person-detail/offender/355377" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.</p>
<p>The Washington DOC published its <a href="https://oco.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2021%20OCO%20Trans%20Report%20FINAL%20with%20DOC%20Response.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">first transgender policy</a> allowing inmates to be <a href="https://doc.wa.gov/sites/default/files/data/files/490700.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">housed according</a> to their gender identity, rather than biology, in February 2020.</p>
<p>&#8220;Nothing in the Policy even prohibits a male who is sexually attracted to females — let alone a male convicted of raping females —  from ultimately sharing an unsupervised cell with a female inmate, so long as he claims to &#8216;identify&#8217; as a woman,&#8221; states the lawsuit.</p>
<p>&#8220;Male inmates known to Plaintiffs who are attracted to females and who make no effort to conform to a female &#8216;gender identity&#8217; are permitted to be housed at WCCW, share a cell with female inmates, enter the bathrooms and other intimate spaces designated for females, and even have sexual relations with female inmates.&#8221;</p>
<p>“Women are uniquely exposed to risks — including the possibility of pregnancy — that male inmates do not face. That disparity underscores a fundamental violation of the women’s equal protection rights,&#8221; O’Neill told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>Washington DOC has some of the most radical transgender policies in the country. It further expanded its gender ideology policies in October 2023 after reaching a <a href="https://disabilityrightswa.org/drw-reaches-agreement-with-doc-to-improve-care-for-transgender-people-with-disabilities/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">settlement</a> with <a href="https://disabilityrightswa.org/about-us/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Disability Rights Washington</a> (DRW), a federally funded <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/RecipDetail?arg_EntityId=ZOXBFfA5zdfgkqJp4FjugQ%3D%3D" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nonprofit</a> that claimed the prison system was <a href="https://disabilityrightswa.org/drw-reaches-agreement-with-doc-to-improve-care-for-transgender-people-with-disabilities/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">violating</a> the rights of transgender inmates by failing to provide medical sex-change procedures. The Washington DOC now provides inmates with cross-sex clothing, surgery, and sex-change medical interventions as part of the settlement.</p>
<p>The AFPI legal team says this special treatment of men is further evidence of discrimination against women, who have to pay for personal items and accommodations that are provided to trans-identifying male inmates at no cost.</p>
<p>“[Washington] DOC routinely categorizes medically necessary care for female inmates as ‘elective’ or ‘non-urgent,’ resulting in delay or denial of treatment. At the same time, sex-rejecting procedures for trans-identifying male inmates are approved and prioritized under standards that are no more urgent—and in many cases less urgent or entirely unnecessary—than the care denied to female<br />
inmates,” states the lawsuit.</p>
<p>The Washington DOC told The Daily Wire it does not comment on pending litigation.</p>

<p>Public schools teaching children about sexuality and transgenderism without parental consent have been put on notice by the Department of Justice.</p>
<p>The Justice Department&#8217;s Civil Rights Division <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-launches-investigations-concerning-gender-ideology-pre-k-12-schools-36" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> Thursday it was investigating 36 Illinois school districts to find out if they have sexual orientation and gender ideology content in their pre-k and K-12 curricula, noting these districts receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal funding.</p>
<p>“This Department of Justice is determined to put an end to local school authorities keeping parents in the dark about how sexuality and gender ideology are being pushed in classrooms,” said Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon.</p>
<p>“Supreme Court precedent leaves no doubt: parents have the fundamental right and primary authority to direct the care, upbringing, and education of their children. This includes exempting their children from ideological instruction that contradicts their values or decisions about their children’s health and best interests.”</p>
<p>The Supreme Court sided with parents when it <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/supreme-court-sides-with-parents-says-schools-cant-mandate-lgbt-curricula" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ruled</a> in June 2025 that parents have the right to opt their children out of LGBT programs in public schools.</p>
<p>If Illinois school districts are discovered to be teaching students sexual orientation and gender identity content, the DOJ will determine if parents have been given the chance to opt out of the programming. The department will also be investigating whether students can access bathrooms and locker rooms based on biological sex and whether only biological females can compete on girls&#8217; sports teams.</p>
<p>Shannon Adcock, founder and president of the parental rights group <a href="https://www.awakeil.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Awake Illinois</a>, called the investigation a &#8220;huge win&#8221; for parents.</p>
<p>&#8220;The DOJ’s launch of investigations into 36 Illinois school districts for pushing gender ideology in Pre-K-12 classrooms without proper parental notification is a huge win for parental rights and child protection,&#8221; Adcock told The Daily Wire. &#8220;For years, groups like Awake Illinois have been on the front lines demanding transparency, opt-out rights, and adherence to Title IX — protecting single-sex spaces, girls’ sports, and biological reality in our schools,&#8221; Adcock told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>&#8220;Every district under scrutiny should immediately restore parental authority and biological fairness,&#8221; she added. &#8220;We won’t stop until our kids’ schools prioritize truth, safety, and parental involvement over ideology.&#8221;</p>

Justice Department Investigating Schools That Secretly Teach Children About Transgenderism

<p>The Southern Poverty Law Center labeled Moms For Liberty a hate group just days before its national conference, causing protests to descend on the event and inundate attendees with threats of violence.</p>
<p>Over 600 parents, conservative leaders, and five presidential candidates — including Donald Trump — gathered for four days at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott Hotel for the <a href="https://portal.momsforliberty.org/summit23/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Moms for Liberty</a> National Summit 2023. Just three weeks before, the SPLC added the grassroots parents&#8217; group to its list of extremist groups. Tina Descovich, co-founder and CEO of Moms For Liberty, told The Daily Wire that the pushback was almost immediate — and frightening.</p>
<p>“Their label sent thousands of protesters to our event, protestors smashed in windows of the venue the night before, and spray-painted over historical displays,&#8221; Descovich said. &#8220;They surrounded the venue for days. Philly PD had to call in the riot force and extra equipment. The following months and weeks were filled with continued threats and harassment.&#8221;</p>
<p>“Adding us right before our 2023 National Summit, where we hosted five presidential candidates, was not an accident; it was calculated and coordinated,” Descovich added.</p>
<p>The SPLC has come under renewed scrutiny after the Justice Department last week released a sweeping indictment of the controversial leftist group. The SPLC is alleged to have funneled millions to hate groups like the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-hints-at-major-2020-move-if-splc-found-guilty-of-fraud?row=0&amp;elementPosition=0&amp;rowType=Web+Search+Overlay" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ku Klux Klan</a> from 2014 to 2023. The group claims it was paying informants, but critics say the SPLC was simply propping up its own targets — most notoriously by allegedly helping fund the infamous 2017 &#8220;Unite The Right&#8221; rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.</p>
<p>&#8220;Once the SPLC labeled us, it gave people in my community and even extended family justification for really vile behavior towards me. I tried to protect my kids from the hate I received, but it wasn’t long before even they knew I was a target for people’s hate,&#8221; Kit Hart, Moms For Liberty membership engagement coordinator, told The Daily Wire. &#8220;It’s something no innocent mom should be subjected to.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;A group of us had dinner reservations offsite and the moment we exited the building, we were berated and screamed at,&#8221; Hart recalls. &#8220;The protestors had been waiting all day for members of our organization to leave the doors of the hotel to shove signs in our faces, curse at us and show every sign of aggression you can think of. As we were walking to our Uber, we needed to be escorted by security.&#8221;</p>
<p>An LGBTQ+ group called The Agenda PAC obtained the hotel room numbers of Moms For Liberty members, and while they slept, left door hangers on their hotel rooms that said &#8220;Please Disturb: Fascism In Progress. Did you know a designated hate group is staying at this hotel?&#8221;</p>
<p>Pennsylvania State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta, who is currently a Vice Chair of the Democratic National Committee, <a href="https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2022-election/new-political-group-forms-campaign-anti-lgbtq-candidates-rcna45710" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chaired</a> The Agenda PAC.</p>
<p>A heavy police presence was stationed outside the hotel for the duration of the conference to keep attendees safe. Protesters, carrying pride flags and signs with hateful messages such as &#8220;Ban The Fascists,&#8221; &#8220;F*ck Nazi&#8217;s,&#8221; and &#8220;<a href="https://whyy.org/articles/philadelphia-moms-for-liberty-summit-protest-photos/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Klanned Kookie Karens</a>,&#8221; camped outside the hotel for the duration of the conference and harassed women as they entered or exited. One group of moms was <a href="https://x.com/scarlett4kids/status/2048178067299017024?s=46&amp;t=ZAoIkqhiKpZyQayFV_2XbQ" target="_blank" rel="noopener">swarmed</a> by a group of protesters when they tried to leave the hotel in an Uber. Several protesters were <a href="https://whyy.org/articles/philadelphia-moms-for-liberty-summit-people-arrested-during-protests/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">arrested.</a></p>
<p>Despite the tensions and security concerns, the planned programming was uninterrupted, and President Trump commented on the SPLC label during his speech.</p>
<p>&#8220;The radical Left is even slandering Moms for Liberty as a so-called hate group,&#8221; President Trump stated during<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_D7iYcQACU" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> his speech</a>. &#8220;Can you imagine Moms for Liberty, a hate group? I&#8217;m telling you, these people are sick.&#8221;</p>
<p>The conference gained attention from national media outlets, which<a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2023/06/29/us/politics/moms-for-liberty-republicans.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> consistently</a> associated Moms For Liberty with the <a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2023/06/30/moms-for-liberty-convention-philadelphia-protests/70363926007/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SPLC</a> hate group label. A group of Democratic Pennsylvania state senators used the SPLC label to fuel their <a href="https://epgn.com/2023/05/11/philadelphia-marriott-facing-criticism-for-hosting-right-wing-summit/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ongoing campaign</a> to get the 2023 summit canceled. The politicians sent a <a href="https://x.com/SenatorSaval/status/1672011058834206721/photo/1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to the Museum of the American Revolution, where a welcome event for the summit was held, asking that it cut ties with Moms For Liberty.</p>
<p>“Moms for Liberty, put plainly, is a hate group. This is not hyperbole — on June 6, 2023, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) designated Moms for Liberty a hate group, and specifically, as an ‘anti-government extremist group,'&#8221; the letter reads. “The Museum’s leadership has demonstrated a lack of judgment in agreeing to host a hate group. Fortunately, the mistake can be fixed with a simple and elegant solution: cancel the Moms for Liberty event scheduled for June 29.”</p>
<p>This reporter was present at the June 2023 summit and can easily recall the throngs of protesters and increased security. <span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;">To avoid harassment from the mob of protesters outside of the hotel, attendees exited the Marriott hotel from a discreet side entrance and were covertly bused to the museum, where we were greeted by a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XuDs2bbVJE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raucous crowd</a> screaming from behind a metal barricade, &#8220;Get the f*ck out of here&#8221; and &#8220;Philly is a trans city.&#8221;</span> Police officers acted as a human shield and formed a path that allowed us a safe entrance to the museum.</p>

<p>The impact of the SPLC’s extremist label extended far past the summer of 2023 and continues to weigh on parents today. The SPLC has an interactive &#8220;<a href="https://www.splcenter.org/hate-map/?hm_year=2024">hate map</a>,&#8221; and Moms for Liberty chapters make up the single <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/splcs-favorite-conservative-targets-get-the-last-laugh">largest</a> bloc of any organization on it, putting a target on the back of each local group.</p>
<p>“Every day since the SPLC added Moms for Liberty to its hate map, our organization has had a dangerous target on our back. Members have been doxed, cancelled, and threatened,” Descovich told The Daily Wire. &#8220;The fabricated lies told by the SPLC have caused extensive harm to our organization and our members.&#8221;</p>
<p>For the past three years, Moms For Liberty Wisconsin leader Scarlett Johnson has also been harassed, defamed, and feared for her own safety after being labeled a far-right extremist by the SPLC.</p>
<p>“I lived this. I was harassed, doxxed, and even sued. And almost every article, every interview, every news segment about me included the same line — that I’m part of Moms for Liberty, a group the SPLC labeled as extremist,” Johnson told The Daily Wire. “That label followed me everywhere. It changed how people looked at me, spoke to me, and treated me.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;It was the slow, grinding loss of normalcy that no one ever gives back,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>Johnson said the SPLC label didn’t just draw the ire of leftists, but made some local Republicans hesitant to be affiliated with her and the group. Rachel Carroll Rivas, deputy director for research, reporting, and analysis at the SPLC, admitted that was the group&#8217;s goal in a June 2023 interview with <a href="https://www.npr.org/2023/06/07/1180486760/splc-moms-for-liberty-extremist-group" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NPR</a>.</p>
<p>“Carroll Rivas said she hopes that adding Moms for Liberty and similar groups to its extremist list will help inform communities, reporters and politicians who are just learning about them,&#8221; NPR reported. &#8220;And, perhaps, that it might tarnish association with those organizations.&#8221;</p>
<p>Johnson told The Daily Wire she is thankful SPLC is being investigated, but the reputational damage they’ve caused can&#8217;t be undone.</p>
<p>“Not everyone understands what the SPLC is or how those labels get used — but politicians and media repeated it without question,” Johnson told The Daily Wire. “And when you repeat something like that over and over, it doesn’t just shape a narrative. It hardens into something people act on.”</p>

<p>A Bluesky account suspected to be Allen&#8217;s <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-leavitt-react-to-string-of-transgender-violence-additional-actions-to-come">posted</a> a CNN article, &#8220;<a href="https://www.cnn.com/2025/09/04/politics/transgender-firearms-justice-department-second-amendment">Trump DOJ is looking at ways to ban transgender Americans from owning guns, sources say</a>,&#8221; with the caption &#8220;Best time to buy a gun was &lt;greater than or equal to your state&#8217;s waiting period&gt; days ago Second best time is today.&#8221;</p>
<p>The September 2025 CNN article discussed a mass shooting that took place at a Minneapolis Catholic church, carried out by a &#8220;23-year-old transgender woman.&#8221; The article says the Department of Justice was &#8220;weighing proposals to limit transgender people’s right to possess firearms&#8221; and framed this potential move as &#8220;a dramatic escalation of the Trump administration’s fight against the rights of transgender Americans.&#8221;</p>
<p>There have been several recent high-profile shootings in the past several years with <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tyler-robinsons-family-furry-trans-lover-to-testify-for-prosecution-in-charlie-kirk-murder-trial">ties</a> to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/covenant-shooters-entire-diary-published-revealing-obsession-with-white-privilege-transgenderism">transgenderism</a>, leading the Trump administration to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-leavitt-react-to-string-of-transgender-violence-additional-actions-to-come">examine the relationship</a> between transgenderism and violence.</p>
<p>Allen obtained a bachelor&#8217;s degree in mechanical engineering from the prestigious California Institute of Technology in 2017, where he participated in the school&#8217;s Christian Fellowship Program, according to his <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/cole-allen-003804b7/">LinkedIn profile</a> and social media posts. December 2016 Facebook posts from Caltech Christian Fellowship show Allen smiling and attending an event held by the school&#8217;s Christian club.</p>
<p>Evangelical Christians believe there are only two sexes and openly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/christians-need-not-apply-to-foster-in-this-state">oppose transgenderism</a>. Allen wrote an anti-Trump manifesto that mocked Christianity and was sent to a family member minutes before the shooting, according to reporting from <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/26/us-news/whcd-gunman-cole-allen-sent-anti-trump-manifesto-to-family-just-before-opening/">the New York Post</a>.</p>
<p>Allen mocked the Christian idea of &#8220;turning the other cheek&#8221; in the manifesto writing, “Turning the other cheek is for when you yourself are oppressed. I’m not the person raped in a detention camp. I’m not the fisherman executed without trial,” according to reporting from The New York Post.</p>
<p>&#8220;Turning the other cheek when *someone else* is oppressed is not Christian behavior; it is complicity in the oppressor’s crimes,” Allen wrote in a manifesto provided to U.S. officials, according to reporting from <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/04/26/us-news/whcd-gunman-cole-allen-sent-anti-trump-manifesto-to-family-just-before-opening/">The New York Post</a>.</p>

<p>New York City&#8217;s most elite hospital gave more than a million dollars to an &#8220;anti-racist,&#8221; pro-LGBTQ+ theater company as it laid off a thousand workers, records reviewed by The Daily Wire show.</p>
<p>New York-Presbyterian has donated more than 1.3 million to the People’s Theatre Project since 2021, financial <a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/133957095/202543189349306204/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener">records</a><a href="https://projects.propublica.org/nonprofits/organizations/133957095/202413189349304986/full" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> show</a>. In October 2023, Dr. Steven J. Corwin, then president and CEO of the hospital system, pledged to give another million to the theater — an arts program that &#8220;centers immigrants and members of the Latine, Black, and Queer communities&#8221; — to build a state-of-the-art performance center.</p>
<p>As the hospital was bankrolling the &#8220;anti-racist&#8221; organization&#8217;s quest to &#8220;build a world where the oppressed can find Liberation,&#8221; it was struggling financially. In May 2025, it <a href="https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/finance/newyork-presbyterian-to-cut-1000-employees/">announced</a> it was slashing 2% of its workforce, laying off 1,000 people. In 2026 it <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/01/16/nurses-describe-escalating-tension-as-nyc-strike-continues-00734336">came under fire</a> when it offered nurses a lower-than-requested annual raise, a cut the hospital blamed on the Trump administration&#8217;s economic policies.</p>
<p>In October 2025, Corwin <a href="https://www.nyp.org/news/newyork-presbyterian-leadership-transition-announcement">announced</a> he would step down in early 2026.</p>
<p>New York-Presbyterian&#8217;s reputation took a serious hit in the final years of Corwin&#8217;s 14-year tenure. It&#8217;s financial troubles came as it became one of the <a href="https://www.centernyc.org/urban-matters-2/enough-to-make-you-sick-curbing-high-private-hospital-costs#:~:text=New%20York%20City%27s%20private%20hospitals%20are%20some,than%20one%20percent%20of%20private%20hospital%20spending.">most expensive hospitals</a> in the country. In March 2026, the Justice Department <a href="https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/justice-department-sues-new-york-presbyterian-hospital-anticompetitive-contracts-increase">sued the hospital</a> for &#8220;anticompetitive contract restrictions that deny New Yorkers the choice of lower cost healthcare options.&#8221;</p>
<p>All the while, it was supporting the People’s Theatre Project.</p>
<p>In October 2023, Corwin appeared with New York Governor Kathy Hochul and &#8220;Hamilton&#8221; composer Lin-Manuel Miranda to pledge $1 million to the construction of the Centro Cultural Inmigrante, a 19,000-square-foot compound featuring multiple theaters and a gallery, meant to &#8220;amplify the voices of New York City’s diverse immigrant communities.&#8221; The State of New York contributed $4 million.</p>
<p>“NewYork-Presbyterian is proud to support the People’s Theatre Project, and we look forward to the future of the Centro Cultural Inmigrante,” Corwin said. “This will be a space where members of the community can come together to create meaningful social connections, build a sense of belonging, and help enrich the community and New York City through the arts.”</p>
<p>It is unclear if the hospital ever made the $1 million contribution. Neither NewYork-Presbyterian nor the People&#8217;s Theatre Project responded to a request for comment.</p>
<p>The relationship between the hospital and the radical arts organization dates back to 2009, when it was founded by Mino Lora, a leftist who has called for defunding the police and served on New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s transition team. That year, New York-Presbyterian <a href="https://thepeoplestheatre.org/home/about-us/">partnered</a> with the group on &#8220;a health-focused theatre-making program for children ages 5–12.&#8221; New York Presbyterian’s Corporate Director of Community Affairs, Monica Hidalgo, serves on the theater&#8217;s board.</p>
<p>All told, NewYork-Presbyterian has given the People&#8217;s Theatre Project $1,312,500 since 2021. During that time, the theater has produced such plays as “The Diamond,” which “follows a group of detained immigrants who conspire against a dystopian government.” Earlier this month, it hosted a reading of the “Sombraluz,” a play about a marine whose life was “shaped by the trauma of Guantanamo Bay.”</p>
<p>The People&#8217;s Theater Project also hosts outright political events, including a “rapid response” and “safe space” to “share feelings, build resilience, and transform emotions into art&#8221; in the wake of President Donald Trump&#8217;s 2024 election. In January 2026, the theater hosted an “undoing racism” workshop.</p>
<p>&#8220;As an anti-racist organization, we believe in Equity for all,&#8221; the group&#8217;s website reads. &#8220;We see the full humanity and immense power that exists in immigrants, youth, people of color, the LGBTQIA community, and people living with disabilities. We work to build a world where the oppressed can find Liberation.&#8221;</p>
<p>The People&#8217;s Theatre Project<a href="https://thepeoplestheatre.org/education/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> works</a> with K-5 &#8220;young artists&#8221; to celebrate &#8220;their identities and communities&#8221; through theatre pieces and has a &#8220;social justice leadership program&#8221; for adolescents in grades 6-12. The organization also<a href="https://thepeoplestheatre.org/ptp-partnerships/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> partners</a> with elementary, middle, and high schools in New York City.</p>
<p>The organization views theatre &#8220;as a catalyst for change,&#8221; and its mission includes advocacy for progressive social causes such as dismantling systemic racism, immigrant rights, and LGBTQIA+ rights.</p>
<p>&#8220;Racial justice is an urgent priority because systemic racism persists in our society, perpetuating inequality at every turn,&#8221; the group&#8217;s <a href="https://thepeoplestheatre.org/advocacy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> says. &#8220;Theatre serves as a powerful platform to confront and dismantle these injustices.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A Biden-appointed federal judge has ruled American taxpayers must continue spending millions of dollars on transgender procedures in blue states.</span></p>
<p>A coalition of <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/72077914/28/2/state-of-oregon-v-kennedy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">20 states</a>, Washington D.C., and Pennsylvania Governor <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-backyard-battle-between-dem-governor-and-couple-next-door?author=Jordan+Schroeder&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=2&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=The+Backyard+Battle+Between+Dem+Governor+And+Couple+Next+Door" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Josh Shapiro</a>, sued Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. over a December 2025 <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/declaration-pediatric-sex-rejecting-procedures.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">declaration</a> that told medical providers and organizations they can be denied Medicaid and Medicare funding if they continue providing harmful &#8220;sex-rejecting procedures&#8221; to children.</p>
<p>&#8220;Sex-rejecting procedures for children and adolescents are neither safe nor effective as a treatment modality for gender dysphoria, gender incongruence, or other related disorders in minors, and therefore, fail to meet professional[ly] recognized standards of health care,&#8221; states Kennedy&#8217;s declaration.</p>
<p>Kennedy clarified in the document that the term &#8220;sex-rejecting procedures&#8221; includes puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries, which are sometimes referred to as &#8220;gender-affirming care.&#8221;</p>
<p>U.S. District Judge Mustafa Kasubhai, who is known for his judicial <a href="https://www.reuters.com/legal/government/senate-republicans-question-oregon-judicial-nominees-support-diversity-2023-10-04/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender</a><a href="https://www.law.berkeley.edu/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/PronounsPrivilege.Kasubhai.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> activism</a>, vacated the declaration on April 18, calling it &#8220;unlawful&#8221; and &#8220;one man’s musings on gender-affirming care.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;This Court is not persuaded by Defendants’ attempts to gaslight it into believing that the Kennedy Declaration does anything other than what it says: proclaims that gender-affirming care for minors falls below professionally recognized standards of care, supersedes state laws that say otherwise,&#8221; wrote Kasubhai in his <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ord.191371/gov.uscourts.ord.191371.93.0_2.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">opinion</a>. &#8220;Secretary Kennedy’s unlawful declaration harmed children. This case illustrates that when a leader acts without authority and in the absence of the rule of law, he acts with cruelty.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;HHS will continue to fight to protect our nation’s children, as this Biden-appointed judge’s ruling puts radical ideology ahead of their safety,&#8221; HHS Press Secretary Emily Hilliard told The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>The lawsuit&#8217;s plaintiffs include: Oregon, Washington State, New York, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Wisconsin, the District of Columbia, and the Governor of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro.</p>
<p>Washington State admitted to spending more than $31 million providing &#8220;gender-affirming&#8221; services to 10,000+ &#8220;transgender&#8221; individuals over three years in a <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.ord.191371/gov.uscourts.ord.191371.34.0.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legal document</a> submitted in the lawsuit. The federal government financed the bulk of the state&#8217;s spending, providing $25 million of the $31 million Washington State spent on transgender procedures from 2022 to 2024. It also spent more than $2 million on transgender interventions for minors just in 12 months, according to the document.</p>
<p>The data was provided in a declaration submitted by Dr. Judy Zerzan-Thul, Washington State Health Care Authority&#8217;s <a href="https://www.hca.wa.gov/about-hca/who-we-are/our-leadership" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chief Medical Officer</a>.</p>
<p>Washington State has nearly 6,000 &#8220;distinct Medicaid providers&#8221; offering sex-rejecting interventions, and not allowing providers who accept Medicaid and Medicare payments to &#8220;provide gender-affirming care&#8221; would cripple the industry, according to Zerzan-Thul.</p>
<p>&#8220;The consequence will be that no provider who accepts these forms of payment will be able to provide gender-affirming care to any child or adolescent patient,&#8221; states her declaration. &#8220;This action will make it very difficult, if not impossible, for Apple Health to find health care providers willing to provide gender-affirming care to Apple Health clients, even if such services were entirely state-funded.&#8221;</p>
<p>Apple Health, the umbrella term for the state&#8217;s health insurance programs, spent $10.8 million providing sex-rejecting procedures to more than 10,000 &#8220;transgender individuals&#8221; in 2024, more than $10.6 million providing the procedures to 9,500+ individuals in 2023, and more than $10.1 million providing the procedures to 8,500+ individuals in 2022, according to the Zerzan-Thul declaration.</p>
<p>The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/taxpayers-pay-millions-to-surgeon-who-performs-transgender-surgeries-in-prisons" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously reported</a> that the Washington State Health Care Authority spent more than $4.3 million on a cosmetic surgery practice led by Dr. Geoffrey Stiller, MD, who offers an array of “transgender” surgical procedures, including facial feminization, “non-binary” double mastectomy, and “bottom surgery,” according to the Stiller Aesthetic <a href="https://www.stilleraesthetics.com/gender-affirming-overview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.</p>
<p>Zerzan-Thul cited discredited gender medical guidance from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Endocrine Society, and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) as the state&#8217;s basis for determining that sex-rejecting interventions were &#8220;evidence-based, safe, and effective, medical treatments.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;WPATH remains a globally recognized authority on gender-affirming care, and its Standards of Care have been widely adopted by medical institutions worldwide,&#8221; states the Zerzan-Thul declaration.</p>
<p>In its review of pediatric gender medicine, HHS noted that <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2025-11/gender-dysphoria-report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">medical gender guidance</a> from the Endocrine Society, WPATH, and the AAP has been found to be of &#8220;very low quality.&#8221;</p>

Parents across the country have had children <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-admin-sends-new-guidance-to-all-50-states-on-trans-kid-disputes">removed</a> by child protective services for affirming their child’s natural sex.</div>

<div>Buried in this <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/23/23-477/323964/20240903155151548_23-477%20tsac%20Brief%20of%20Amici%20Curiae%20AAP%20et%20al..pdf">belief</a> is an open secret: pediatricians who embrace gender ideology view parents as harming — and possibly abusing — their children if they refuse to support the child&#8217;s transition to another sex.</div>

<div>While the AAP suggests that not affirming a child&#8217;s <a href="https://publications.aap.org/pediatrics/article/132/1/e297/31402/Office-Based-Care-for-Lesbian-Gay-Bisexual">transgender</a> identity causes emotional and psychological <a href="https://www.aap.org/en/news-room/aap-voices/why-we-stand-up-for-transgender-children-and-teens/?srsltid=AfmBOop1hSO_tAwdoxX9YOW4JyRl7y77MgcUBAFmT1kaPzFdmk6a73l4">harm</a>, it has failed to clarify how this belief impacts parents and parental rights.</div>

<div>The Daily Wire asked the AAP outright if it believes parents who affirm their child&#8217;s natural sex and refuse to provide so-called “gender affirming care” are abusing their children. The AAP did not respond to multiple requests for comment.</div>

<div>Given the AAP’s extensive reach — the organization claims <a href="https://www.aap.org/en/about-the-aap/">67,000 members</a>, while there are an <a href="https://www.abp.org/dashboards/general-pediatricians-us-state-and-county-maps">estimated</a> 60,000 active pediatricians in America — its views on gender ideology and non-affirming parents impact how medicine is practiced in pediatric offices across the country.</div>

<div>A review of the group&#8217;s public statements and policies suggests the group views parental non-affirmation of gender identity as a form of child abuse — something doctors should actively look for.</div>

<div>&#8220;<a href="https://www.aap.org/en/patient-care/lgbtq-health-and-wellness/a-pediatricians-guide-to-an-lgbtq-friendly-practice/">A Pediatrician’s Guide to an LGBTQ+ Friendly Practice</a>&#8221; gives pediatricians a road map to discover if a family “accepts” the gender identity of their “LGBTQ+” child and recommends that doctors routinely ask teens about their gender identity in private, without parental knowledge.</div>

<div>“Normalize confidential, one-on-one discussions with adolescents and young adults as part of routine adolescent medical care,” states the guide. “Explore whether your [electronic health record] can ‘hide’ sensitive information.”</div>

<div>The guide gives doctors a series of scripted questions to use when having confidential conversations with teens about gender identity and family dynamics, including:  ​</div>

<div>&#8220;Some families may take issue with providers who address gender concerns or offer gender-affirming care,&#8221; states the policy. &#8220;In rare cases, a family may deny access to care that raises concerns about the youth’s welfare and safety; in those cases, additional legal or ethical support may be useful to consider.&#8221;</div>

<div>Representatives of the AAP were invited to take part in a special breakout session with government officials and child welfare leaders to discuss &#8220;big ideas&#8221; for the &#8220;cross-sector&#8221; promotion of family acceptance programs that re-educate parents to embrace gender ideology, records show.</div>

<div>“We know that family support around LGBTQI+ identity, as early as possible, is a key protective factor against … entry into the child welfare and juvenile justice systems for LGBTQI+ youth,” Julie Kruse, a contracted senior advisor for the LGBTQI+ Initiatives, wrote in an <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2026/03/Screenshot-.pdf">email</a> describing the event. “These programs are critical to preventing LGBTQI+ youth homelessness and entry into foster care.”​</div>

<p>A California group positioned to shape the future of Artificial Intelligence regulation for children believes drag queens are positive role models for 4-year-olds.</p>
<p>Common Sense Media, a California nonprofit with a stated <a href="https://www.commonsense.org/">mission</a> to protect kids online, gave a children&#8217;s show featuring two male drag queens a <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews/the-fabulous-show-with-fay-fluffy">perfect</a> child safety score and recommended it for kids ages 4 and up. &#8220;<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGyr45BKn_o&amp;list=PL2F3nYtGth8cylKCts9if0EkyoZF1FRiI">The Fabulous Show With Fay &amp; Fluffy</a>&#8221; received a 5/5 star rating and was praised for offering positive role models, having educational value, and showcasing diversity.</p>
<p>Bluey, the popular family-friendly cartoon, was outshined by the drag queens and only received a 4/5 star rating.</p>
<p>Common Sense Media provides safety reviews of movies, books, and video games through a vast database that includes many positive reviews for LGBTQ+ content aimed at young children. The nonprofit has an entire <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/celebrate-lgbtq-pride">webpage</a> devoted to &#8220;LGBTQ+ Stories for the Whole Family.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;From affirming, relatable stories about queer kids and teens, to history-making moments and figures on screen, LGBTQ+ representation in media is increasing. Now, kids have more choices that reflect their world and lived experiences, whether they&#8217;re queer, straight, trans, cisgender, or figuring it all out,&#8221; states its website.</p>

<p>Recent reports say it&#8217;s attempting to extract millions of dollars from AI companies to help them self-regulate in the litigious environment. It&#8217;s simultaneously supporting legislation in California that would require AI chatbot products to submit to regulation from groups like Common Sense Media.</p>
<p>The nonprofit, which claims it&#8217;s &#8220;<a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/what-we-stand-for/tech-accountability">holding tech companies accountable</a>,&#8221; is asking for millions of dollars to launch a new institute focused on providing safety assessments for AI products, according to reporting from <a href="https://subscriber.politicopro.com/article/2026/04/key-nonprofit-pitches-tech-giants-to-pay-100m-each-for-ai-safety-effort-00853205?site=pro&amp;prod=alert&amp;prodname=alertmail&amp;linktype=headline&amp;source=email">Politico</a>. Common Sense Media offered the tech companies the opportunity to provide input on the safety assessments if they provided a donation, Politico reported.</p>
<p>Its current ratings, however, indicate it&#8217;s in no position to assess what is appropriate for children.</p>
<p>The group recommends transgender content for 4-year-olds, including &#8220;I Am Jazz,&#8221; which it <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/i-am-jazz">calls</a> a &#8220;Sweet, straightforward story about a transgender girl.&#8221; It also <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/jacobs-new-dress#modal">recommends</a> &#8220;Jacob&#8217;s New Dress,&#8221; a story about a young boy who likes to crossdress and was written by parents of a &#8220;gender-nonconforming child,&#8221; and “Sparkle Boy,” the <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/sparkle-boy">story</a> of a 3-year-old boy who “loves all the glittery stuff his older sister loves” and “causes a stir” when he crossdresses.</p>

<p>Common Sense Media also <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews/marleys-pride">recommends</a> &#8220;Marley&#8217;s Pride,&#8221; the &#8220;joyful&#8221; story of “Marley and their grandparent&#8221; who identify as nonbinary and attend their first pride celebration together.</p>
<p>“RuPaul&#8217;s Drag Show” is <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/tv-reviews/rupauls-drag-race">recommended</a> for teenagers 15 and older and called a program that promotes &#8220;self-love and compassion for heavily marginalized communities.&#8221; The review tells parents to expect &#8220;lots of sexual innuendo, including references to various sex acts and partial nudity, mostly bare torsos&#8221; and warns it includes strong language and sexual terms such as &#8220;f&#8211;k,&#8221; &#8220;s&#8211;t,&#8221; &#8220;doggy style,&#8221; but notes these words are mostly used &#8220;for tongue-in-cheek humor and camp.&#8221;</p>
<p>The nonprofit also has an education wing and has partnered with schools to provide training about media and online safety to more than <a href="https://www.commonsense.org/">1.4 million</a> educators, according to its website. Common Sense Media has also worked with the <a href="https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/et/dc/index.asp">California Department of Education</a> and the <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/press-releases/common-sense-educations-digital-literacy-curriculum-selected-as-connecticuts-statewide-model-for-k-12#:~:text=%22Connecticut%20has%20taken%20an%20important,new%20technological%20developments%20and%20challenges">Connecticut State Department of Education</a>, who announced in February 2025 that they were implementing the nonprofit&#8217;s K–12 Digital Citizenship <a href="https://www.commonsense.org/education/digital-citizenship">Curriculum</a> statewide.</p>
<p>Common Sense Media provides <a href="https://www.commonsense.org/education/articles/supporting-lgbtq-students-in-the-classroom-and-online">ways</a> teachers can create LGBTQ+ inclusive classrooms, telling them, &#8220;Your courage is critical. Know that you may be the only adult in a kid&#8217;s life who shows acceptance &#8212; their only oasis,&#8221; according to its website. Teachers are recommended to funnel gender confused students to transgender activist groups like the Trevor Project and PFLAG.</p>
<p>Common Sense Media now has its eyes on shaping the safety standards of artificial intelligence products for kids. Common Sense Media is <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/sites/default/files/featured-content/files/common-sense-media-2026-ca-legislative-priorities.pdf">supporting</a> two <a href="https://sd18.senate.ca.gov/news/assemblymembers-bauer-kahan-and-wicks-and-senator-padilla-introduce-legislation-protect">California</a> bills aiming to regulate AI chatbot products for minors.</p>
<p>&#8220;Because of the potential risks of AI to children and teens, California must take the lead in establishing a process for vetting the impact of AI products and services on kids,&#8221; states a Common Sense Media <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/sites/default/files/featured-content/files/common-sense-media-2026-ca-legislative-priorities.pdf">document</a>.</p>
<p class="gmail-title gmail-pb-3"><span class="gmail-field gmail-field--name-title gmail-field--type-string gmail-field--label-hidden">California Assemblymember Rebecca Bauer-Kahan introduced <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billNavClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260AB2023">AB 2023</a> in <a href="https://leginfo.legislature.ca.gov/faces/billHistoryClient.xhtml?bill_id=202520260SB1119">February 2026</a> saying the bill will establish &#8220;nation-leading safety standards for AI companions used by children and teens,&#8221; in a <a href="https://bauer-kahan.asmdc.org/press-releases/20260326-assemblymembers-bauer-kahan-and-wicks-and-senator-padilla-introduce">press release</a>.</span></p>

<p><span class="gmail-field gmail-field--name-title gmail-field--type-string gmail-field--label-hidden">Chatbot operators will be required to undergo an annual safety assessment of any </span>&#8220;child safety risks&#8221; posed by the AI chatbot if the bill becomes law.</p>
<p>&#8220;This bill would require an operator of a companion chatbot to&#8230;annually perform and document a comprehensive risk assessment to identify any child safety risk posed by the design, configuration, and operation of the companion chatbot that assesses, among other things, the likelihood of a covered harm,&#8221; states the bill.</p>
<p>One of the &#8220;covered harms&#8221; included in the bill is &#8220;gender identity&#8221; discrimination. California considers <a href="https://calcivilrights.ca.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/32/2022/11/The-Rights-of-Employees-who-are-Transgender-or-Gender-Nonconforming-Fact-Sheet_ENG.pdf">declining</a> to use a person&#8217;s preferred pronouns or not allowing a man to use the women&#8217;s bathroom forms of &#8220;gender identity&#8221; discrimination.</p>
<p>Under AB 2023 if an AI chatbot product is found to be unsafe by the safety assessment, the operator must make changes to the product and then undergo an independent compliance audit that, upon completion, will be submitted to the California Attorney General.</p>
<p>Common Sense Media is positioning itself to be the go-to for AI chatbot safety assessments and stands to play a powerful role in shaping how information is defined and disseminated, if California&#8217;s chatbot bills pass.</p>
<p>&#8220;Three of the people familiar said Common Sense will be positioned to become a default safety auditor in California for AI products aimed at kids,&#8221; Politico reported.</p>
<p>Public figures known for their transgender activism spoke at the March 2026 Common Sense <a href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/common-sense-summit-speakers-2026">Summit</a> on Kids And Families including <a class="gmail-team-profile-title gmail-link gmail-link--title" href="https://www.commonsensemedia.org/common-sense-summit-speakers-2026#">Randi Weingarten</a>, President of The American Federation of Teachers, JB Pritzker, Governor of Illinois, and Rob Bonta, Attorney General at the California Department of Justice. Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, and <span class="gmail-field gmail-field--name-title gmail-field--type-string gmail-field--label-hidden">Rebecca Bauer-Kahan also </span>spoke at the summit.</p>

Rowling — and not only for writing one of the most beloved and best-selling fantasy book series of all time. She will be remembered for the role she played in saving civilization from the harms of gender ideology.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rowling is an internationally beloved icon, known for bringing joy to millions through the Harry Potter book series. Harry Potter was, and still is, a cultural behemoth that has been retold through movies, video games, and theme parks, and is now being turned into an HBO</span><a href="https://people.com/harry-potter-series-cast-side-by-side-original-movie-actors-11934425"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">television series</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But in 2020, almost overnight, Rowling went from being the queen of popular culture to becoming an internationally hated villain. Her crime? Defending women&#8217;s rights and publicly acknowledging you can&#8217;t change your sex.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In late 2019, Rowling was already receiving backlash for hinting she disagreed with the transgender agenda in social media posts. However, she fully outed herself as &#8220;transphobic&#8221; in June 2020 by publishing a powerful and highly controversial</span> <a href="https://www.jkrowling.com/opinions/j-k-rowling-writes-about-her-reasons-for-speaking-out-on-sex-and-gender-issues/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">essay</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that defended women&#8217;s rights and biological reality.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rowling explained in the essay how &#8220;trans activism&#8221; was threatening the rights of women across the globe and expressed concerns over women losing their fertility from medical transitions and the dangers of allowing men into female private spaces.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;It’s been clear to me for a while that the new trans activism is having (or is likely to have, if all its demands are met) a significant impact on many of the causes I support, because it’s pushing to erode the legal definition of sex and replace it with gender,&#8221; Rowling wrote.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8220;I do not want to make natal girls and women less safe. When you throw open the doors of bathrooms and changing rooms to any man who believes or feels he’s a woman — and, as I’ve said, gender confirmation certificates may now be granted without any need for surgery or hormones — then you open the door to any and all men who wish to come inside. That is the simple truth.&#8221;</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As one of the earliest and boldest celebrity figures to speak clearly on these issues, Rowling earned brutal backlash from nearly every corner of the internet, from fans removing their Harry Potter tattoos because they now represented &#8220;</span><a href="https://www.vice.com/en/article/fans-tell-us-why-they-want-to-cover-up-their-harry-potter-tattoos/#:~:text=Some%20people%20have%20covered%20up%20their%20Harry,assume%20she%20has%20similar%20views%20to%20Rowling."><span style="font-weight: 400;">transphobia</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8221; to harsh</span><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2024/may/01/daniel-radcliffe-says-rupture-with-jk-rowling-over-trans-rights-is-really-sad"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">criticism</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> from Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who played Harry Potter in the movies.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rowling has been called derogatory names and had her physical safety</span><a href="https://www.ncregister.com/blog/jk-rowling-opens-up-about-threats"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">threatened</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> thousands of times over her opposition of gender ideology. And almost six years after publishing her initial essay, she&#8217;s still being criticized for supporting biological reality and women&#8217;s rights.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Just last week, Andrew Garfield, a B-list actor best known for being Emma Stone&#8217;s</span><a href="https://www.elle.com/culture/celebrities/a65796803/emma-stone-andrew-garfield-spider-man-experience/"> <span style="font-weight: 400;">ex-boyfriend</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, went viral for taking a dig at Rowling in an interview. Garfield called watching the Harry Potter movies &#8220;</span><a href="https://www.the-independent.com/arts-entertainment/films/news/andrew-garfield-harry-potter-daniel-radcliffe-jk-rowling-b2948074.html"><span style="font-weight: 400;">controversial</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">&#8221; and said, &#8220;We shouldn’t be, you know, putting money in the pocket of inhumane legislation right now through she that shall remain nameless.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Rowling has a</span> <a href="https://jkrwf.org/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">fund</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> that supports individuals and organizations &#8220;fighting to retain women’s and girls’ sex-based rights in all aspects of life.&#8221; Rowlings financially</span> <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/society/2025/apr/16/critics-of-trans-rights-win-uk-supreme-court-case-over-definition-of-woman"><span style="font-weight: 400;">supported</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> a group that won a U.K. Supreme Court case in 2025 that clarified the definition of &#8220;woman&#8221; should be based on biological sex in the U.K.&#8217;s Equality Act 2010.</span></p>

<p>America&#8217;s most influential psychological association told The Daily Wire it still recommends children receive so-called gender affirming medical interventions, despite downplaying its support of child transgenderism in a letter to government <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/about-ftc/commissioners-staff/commissioners" target="_blank" rel="noopener">officials</a><a href="https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/chairman-ferguson-gender-affirming-care-workshop-speech.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> investigating</a> fraud in pediatric gender medicine.</p>
<p>The American Psychological Association (APA) confirmed in a written statement that it continues to &#8220;support treatments for minors seeking gender affirming care&#8221; in alignment with its 2024 <a href="https://www.apa.org/about/policy/transgender-nonbinary-inclusive-care.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy statement,</a> which endorses minors receiving harmful gender medical interventions, condemns state laws banning child sex-changes, and says &#8220;non-affirmation&#8221; of a child&#8217;s transgender identity can cause &#8220;significant harm.&#8221;</p>
<p>In a September 2025 <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2026/03/American-Psychological-Assocation-Response-to-FTC-RFI_Gender-Affirming-Care-9-26-2025_Signature.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> to the Federal Trade Commission — which is actively investigating <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2025/06/ftc-announces-workshop-exploring-unfair-or-deceptive-trade-practices-gender-affirming-care-minors#:~:text=Home-,FTC%20Announces%20Workshop%20on%20Exploring%20Unfair%20or%20Deceptive%20Trade%20Practices,whistleblowers%2C%20detransitioners%2C%20and%20parents.&amp;text=Tags:,Health%20Care" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unfair and deceptive</a> practices within the field of pediatric &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; — the APA downplayed its support of &#8220;gender affirming care,&#8221; stating the primary role of a therapist treating children with gender dysphoria is assessment, not affirmation.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is important to stress that during the assessment and evaluation process, a diagnosis of gender dysphoria or the identification of a youth as gender-questioning is not an automatic or singular pathway to medical intervention or even social transitioning,&#8221; the letter reads.</p>
<p>This statement contradicts the idea that &#8220;non-affirmation&#8221; poses a direct harm to children, as included in the 2024 policy.</p>
<p>Kurt Miceli, the chief medical officer at Do No Harm, says the APA wants to &#8220;have it both ways.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;The American Psychological Association continues its attempt at having it both ways,&#8221; Miceli told The Daily Wire. &#8220;In its 2024 Policy Statement, the APA explicitly endorses &#8216;medical gender‑affirming care,&#8217; even urging insurers to cover these interventions for minors.&#8221;</p>
<p>The APA told The Daily Wire the &#8220;2024 policy statement and the FTC letter are consistent&#8221; and that &#8220;both documents reflect APA&#8217;s consistent commitment to evidence-based psychological care.&#8221;</p>
<p>The APA is the latest medical group to try to shed its reputation for radical transgender ideology. When President Donald Trump returned to office, his administration purged gender ideology from the government and launched investigations into practices within pediatric gender medicine. Since then, gender clinics <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hospitals-across-u-s-stop-transitioning-children-after-trump-signs-order-protecting-kids">across the country</a> have closed their doors, while the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/this-fight-is-not-over-major-medical-org-rejects-transgender-surgeries-for-kids">American Society of Plastic Surgery</a> has backed away from supporting sex-rejecting procedures for minors.</p>
<p>&#8220;The APA’s 2024 and 2025 statements cannot be reconciled,&#8221; Miceli told The Daily Wire. &#8220;It is an audacious contradiction for the APA to try to claim that their definition of ‘affirming care’ means anything other than sex-rejecting interventions.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Daily Wire asked the APA how it simultaneously viewed the &#8220;non-affirmation&#8221; of a child&#8217;s gender identity as causing &#8220;significant harm&#8221; while recommending a psychologist&#8217;s role is to assess, rather than affirm, a child&#8217;s gender confusion. The Daily Wire also asked for clarity on what clinical standards the APA recommends to help therapists determine when non-affirmation of gender identity is harmful versus when it&#8217;s an appropriate part of a clinical assessment.</p>
<p>The APA did not provide a straightforward answer to these questions, but said, &#8220;In APA’s professional framework, affirming care does not mean a predetermined outcome, automatic validation of any particular intervention, or bypassing clinical judgment.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Daily Wire asked the APA if a therapist should withhold using a child&#8217;s preferred pronouns — a form of &#8220;social transition&#8221; — until the child undergoes an extensive assessment.</p>
<p>&#8220;Affirmation and assessment work together,&#8221; the APA told The Daily Wire. &#8220;Supporting a child does not mean steering them toward any particular outcome, and neither a diagnosis nor a youth’s questions about gender automatically lead to social or medical transition.&#8221;</p>
<p>The APA also said it &#8220;cautions that equating gender‑affirming care solely with medical transition can stigmatize and limit access to essential mental health services.&#8221;</p>
