Alabama Attorney General Stephen Marshall is leading a coalition of 20 states demanding the American Medical Association halt its support of hormonal therapies as treatment for gender dysphoria in children, after the organization withdrew support for child sex-rejecting surgeries.
“We thus find it concerning that the AMA continues to support the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to treat gender dysphoria in minors,” the attorneys general wrote in a letter to AMA President John Whyte. “The quality of evidence is the same as it is for surgeries: low and very-low quality.”
&#8220;The American Medical Association has finally admitted what many have warned for years: its recommendations for surgeries on children were not grounded in solid evidence, despite telling doctors and families otherwise,” Attorney General Marshall told The Daily Wire. “Yet the same weak science underpins puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. You cannot dismiss one intervention as unsupported while continuing to push the rest. When children&#8217;s lives and futures are at stake, anything less than full scientific honesty is reckless. The AMA must follow the science completely, not selectively.&#8221; 

Marshall warned the AMA’s inconsistencies could be misleading the public and violate Alabama’s consumer protection laws, which state it is unlawful for an organization to represent that “goods or services” have “uses, benefits, or qualities that they do not have,” according to the letter. 
“We remain concerned that providers, patients, and their families in our States are being confused or misled by the AMA regarding the safety and efficacy of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones to treat gender dysphoria in minors,” the letter says.
To avoid a “formal investigation” Marshall asked the AMA to answer a series of questions meant to clarify its position on the use of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones as treatment for pediatric gender dysphoria, within 30 days.  
“While we hope to avoid a formal investigation under our consumer protection laws, we do have concerns that the AMA may be violating those laws,” the letter says.
The AMA recently told the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/02/04/health/gender-surgery-minors-ama.html">New York Times</a> and other news <a href="https://www.beckershospitalreview.com/quality/patient-safety-outcomes/ama-alters-position-on-gender-affirming-surgeries-for-minors/">outlets</a> that “surgical interventions in minors should be generally deferred to adulthood” due to the absence of “clear evidence&#8221; supporting their use. 
“If you agree that there is insufficient evidence to support using surgical interventions to treat gender dysphoria in minors — as your recent statement indicates — we do not understand how you can find that there is sufficient evidence to support using hormonal interventions to treat gender dysphoria in minors,” Marshall writes in the letter.  
“These interventions have not been shown to be any safer for children than sex-change surgeries are, and in fact may be all the more dangerous precisely because they are viewed as not as serious. But hormones can leave a child sterilized just as surely as surgery can,” the letter states. 
The AMA’s turnabout came shortly after the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) published a February 3 <a href="https://www.plasticsurgery.org/documents/health-policy/positions/2026-gender-surgery-children-adolescents.pdf">position statement</a> recommending “surgeons delay gender-related breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old,” after reviewing available evidence. The ASPS also pointed out in the statement there is &#8220;substantial uncertainty” of the “long-term benefits and harms” of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones.

Marshall and through litigation discovered hundreds of pages of documents revealing the political forces informing transgender medicine. WPATH’s clinical guideline, which recommends children receive puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries, has been discredited and heavily criticized for lacking scientific rigor.
A 2025 <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2025-11/gender-dysphoria-report.pdf">report</a> from the Department of Health and Human Services on the treatment of pediatric gender dysphoria said the WPATH guidelines were “rated among the lowest in quality” and “have not been recommended for implementation by systematic reviews (SRs) of guidelines.” 
“Despite their lack of trustworthiness, for more than a decade WPATH guidelines have served as the foundation of the healthcare infrastructure for gender dysphoric (GD) youth in the United States,” states the report. 
Marshall views the AMA’s recognition of a lack of evidence to support child sex-change surgeries as a “tacit acknowledgement” that WPATH’s standards are not &#8220;evidence-based,” according to the letter. 
The letter asks the AMA if it views the WPATH guidelines as “evidence-based, reliable, and consistent with the best practices of evidence- based medicine.”
The letter was signed by attorneys general from Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia.
“We know that we share a common goal in wanting to protect patients and their families and ensure that they receive trustworthy information about their medical care,” the letter reads.
The AMA did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.

Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is asking the Department of Health and Human Services to release a trove of emails and communications written by the Biden administration’s high-profile, transgender-identifying Assistant Secretary Richard “Rachel” Levine.
“It is crucial that Congress and the Executive Branch, including HHS, partner together to uncover any collusion or wrongdoing, including the suppression of evidence-based medicine by previous administrations, which can cause irrevocable harm to our country’s children,” the Louisiana Republican, who <a href="https://www.help.senate.gov/chair/about" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chairs</a> the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), wrote in the letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In the letter, Cassidy requests emails and communications between Levine, members of his staff, and several medical organizations that support gender transitions for children, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Endocrine Society, that were exchanged during the Biden presidency.
“HHS remains committed to reversing the harmful policies enacted by Levine and the Biden Administration that did irreparable harm to children, and to ensuring biological reality guides our approach to public health. The Department will respond directly to Senator Cassidy,” Health and Human Services press secretary Emily Hilliard told The Daily Wire.
The Biden administration was known for its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admin-releases-report-promoting-transgenderism-abroad-for-inclusive-democracy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">embrace</a> of radical gender ideology and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-media-lied-about-child-gender-surgeries-and-heres-the-proof" target="_blank" rel="noopener">push</a> to provide experimental sex-rejecting interventions, such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries, to children and young adults.
Cassidy asks in the letter that HHS provide communications between Admiral Levine and White House personnel, including “former President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and staff,” about “gender affirming care” and the transgender agenda.

“That influence appears to have been directed toward and ultimately resulted in the removal of age limits for adolescent gender transition surgical interventions, including mastectomies, breast augmentation, facial surgeries, genital surgeries, and hysterectomies, from WPATH’s Standards of Care (SOC-8).”
Cassidy asked HHS to provide the requested emails, documents, and communications by March 5, 2026.
“Americans have every right to know the scientific rigor of the data behind policies and guidelines issued by medical and professional organizations, particularly given that these guidelines are widely used and relied upon by health care providers and patients, including minors,” Cassidy said.

Texas is suing a “radical gender” doctor whom the state alleges perpetrated medical fraud and attempted to subvert state law pertaining to gender treatments for minors.
Children&#8217;s Health System of Texas and <a href="https://utswmed.org/doctors/jason-jarin/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dr. Jason Jarin</a> <a href="https://www.childrens.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unlawfully</a> provided minors sex-rejecting medications, including puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones, defrauded state insurance programs, and skirted state law, according to allegations in a <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/sites/default/files/images/press/Petition_9.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
“I will use every legal tool available to ensure radical gender activists like Jarin face justice for hurting our kids,” Paxton told The Daily Wire. “This criminal extremist not only permanently harmed children, but he also then defrauded Medicaid and stuck Texas taxpayers with the bill for this insanity. Experimental ‘transition’ procedures on minors are illegal, unethical, and will not be tolerated in Texas.”
In June 2023, Texas passed <a href="https://legiscan.com/TX/text/SB14/id/2756089" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Senate Bill 14</a>, which banned sex-rejecting interventions for minors. Dr. Jarin, a Division Director at Children&#8217;s Health System of Texas and Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, continued to provide children cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers after the law went into effect on September 1, 2023, the lawsuit alleges.
Dr. Jarin billed males for birth control medications that were intended to serve as cross-sex estrogen, fraudulently used diagnostic codes when billing for sex-rejecting procedures, and gave puberty blockers to “otherwise healthy children under the guise of ‘precocious puberty,’&#8221; according to the lawsuit.
Puberty blockers, which can cost thousands of dollars, are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of precocious puberty, an endocrine disorder in which early sexual development occurs in children. They <a href="https://www.congress.gov/118/meeting/house/116284/documents/HHRG-118-JU10-20230727-SD011.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">are not FDA-approved</a> for the treatment of gender dysphoria.
“Although Texas law bans dangerous and experimental sex-rejecting procedures on children, the scourge of so-called ‘gender affirming care’ persists in the State of Texas,” the lawsuit reads. “Even worse, Texas taxpayers have been on the hook for millions of dollars in gender transition surgeries, hormones, and other procedures that turn otherwise healthy children and young adults into chronic medical patients.”
“Our top priority is the health and well-being of the patients and families we serve. We comply with all applicable local, state and federal health care law,” Children’s Health said in a statement.
“Due to ongoing legal proceedings, we are unable to comment further at this time.”
In 2015, Children’s and UT Southwestern jointly opened a gender clinic, called the GENder Education and Care, Interdisciplinary Support clinic (GENECIS), which had more than 1,000 patients before abruptly closing in March 2022 after facing “intense scrutiny” as the public became more aware of the horrors of gender medicine, the lawsuit describes.
However, despite the public-facing closure of the gender clinic, healthcare providers continued to provide sex-rejecting procedures to children through the Adolescent and Young Adult clinics at Children’s and the Department of Pediatric Gynecology.
“Most patients continued to see the same providers at the same locations, and the partnership between UT Southwestern and Children’s remained essentially the same,” states the lawsuit.
Both the GENECIS and Adolescent and Young Adult clinics were “overseen by overlapping department chairs at UT Southwestern,” which included the Department of Pediatrics chair, Dr. Jorge Bezerra, Department of Pediatric Endocrinology chair, Dr. Perrin White, and the Division of Developmental-Behavioral Pediatrics chair, Dr. Richard Adams, the lawsuit describes.
When SB-14 went into effect, Dr. Jarin and two former GENECIS clinic doctors, Dr. Brett Cooper and Dr. Mary Lau, met with UT Southwestern leadership, including Bezerra, White, and Adams, to “discuss the implication of SB-14 for both institutions,” according to the lawsuit.
Dr. Jarin was primarily tasked, alongside White, Lau, and Cooper, with creating a “wean protocol&#8221; that allowed patients to wean off of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones in compliance with SB-14 over a “medically appropriate” period of time, according to the lawsuit.  Patients who attended mental health sessions and were prescribed the medications before June 1, 2023, were eligible for the “wean protocol.”
Paxton claims this protocol was an attempt to subvert compliance with SB-14 and “justify the continued, illegal prescription of cross-sex hormones and puberty blockers to children,” in the lawsuit.
The “wean protocol” decreased the dosing of sex-rejecting hormones at such a low rate that it would take “2 to 5 years to wean completely off,” allowing children to maintain the feminizing or masculinizing effects of the drugs until age 18, when they could legally return to their “pre-SB-14 dosage,” according to the lawsuit.
Furthermore, if patients met either of two “exception” criteria, they were permitted to discontinue weaning altogether.
The protocol required patients to maintain the reproductive hormone levels of the opposite sex “in perpetuity,” claiming this was necessary to protect their bone health.
If patients failed to maintain these artificially high hormone levels, which are the intended result of cross-sex hormone therapy, they were granted an &#8220;exception&#8221; from weaning off of the outlawed drugs, according to the lawsuit.
Paxton said “there was no legitimate medical basis for their recommendation regarding bone health,” and the protocol was “always a pretext for patients to continue illegal cross-sex hormones,&#8221; as stated in the lawsuit.
&#8220;There is no evidence to justify maintaining these hormone levels over prolonged periods of time. The vast medical literature on this topic shows that these hormonal treatments did not produce the desired effect of improving psychological well-being,” <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/?utm_source=google&amp;utm_medium=cpm&amp;utm_campaign=gg&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=20707841002&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAo-mml0lKhEjcTG1qPvNZ-1InzHPM&amp;gclid=Cj0KCQiAhtvMBhDBARIsAL26pjGko9yt7rnE12NZnMRYmHQmENC5qfv_zJoBEEi7b_Tigf_gGa9qfHEaAu4wEALw_wcB" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Do No Harm</a> chairman Dr. Stanley Goldfarb told The Daily Wire. “Moreover, they are involved with all of the unfortunate side effects, including the potential for sterility as well as a number of genital problems associated with prolonged exposure to contra-sex hormones.&#8221;
Patients were also granted an exception from weaning off cross-sex hormones if their mental health team failed to document their “mental health stability at least every six months,” according to the lawsuit.
The same initial intake criteria used by UT Southwestern and Children’s to begin medicalizing gender confused children was used to continue cross-sex hormone therapy under the wean protocol, according to the lawsuit.
The 75-page lawsuit outlined multiple allegations of billing fraud and the subversion of SB-14, providing examples from multiple patients.
In the lawsuit, Texas claims both defendants violated the Texas Health Care Program Fraud Prevention Act and the Texas Business &amp; Commerce Code. It also claims Dr. Jarin “knowingly” violated SB-14 “with respect to at least twelve minor patients.”
“Jarin and Children’s conspired to subvert compliance with SB-14 and to receive reimbursement for gender interventions in violation of State law. Defendants conspired to violate SB-14 and therefore receive reimbursement from Texas Medicaid in violation of State law and regulation,” states the lawsuit.
The federal government has not stated an intention to get involved in the Texas situation, but allegations of Medicaid fraud could draw interest from the Department of Justice.
UT Southwestern Medical Center did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.

Texas Attorney General Says Radical Doctor Broke The Law To Give Minors Sex-Rejection Interventions

The state of Washington gave millions of taxpayer dollars to a controversial “gender-affirming” surgeon who performs surgeries on prison inmates, according to a Daily Wire investigation. 
Stiller Aesthetics, a cosmetic surgery practice led by Dr. Geoffrey Stiller, MD, has received more than $4.3 million from the Washington State Health Care Authority since July 2019, the state spending <a href="https://fiscal.wa.gov/Spending/Checkbook2325" target="_blank" rel="noopener">database</a> shows.
Dr. Stiller offers an array of “transgender” surgical procedures including facial feminization,  “non-binary” double mastectomy, and “bottom surgery,” according to the Stiller Aesthetic <a href="https://www.stilleraesthetics.com/gender-affirming-overview" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.
“Bottom surgery” is a euphemism for vaginoplasty surgery, a procedure that requires the removal of male genitalia and often uses <a href="https://www.stilleraesthetics.com/our-services/colovaginoplasty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">colon tissue</a> to construct a fake vagina, called a neovagina, which requires <a href="https://www.mayoclinic.org/vid-20517182" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lifelong</a> dilation to prevent it from narrowing or closing.
Dr. Stiller has performed “over 1,000 vaginoplasties, averaging 5 procedures a week” and is an “extremely sought after for [male-to-female] bottom surgery,” the <a href="https://www.stilleraesthetics.com/our-services/colovaginoplasty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a> says.
While the spending database does not provide specifics for what each payment to Dr. Stiller was for, public records reviewed by The Daily Wire show Stiller&#8217;s clientele included inmates from the Washington Department of Corrections, whose <a href="https://doc.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2025-02/600-HA004.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policies</a> support inmates pursuing <a href="https://www.hca.wa.gov/billers-providers-partners/program-information-providers/transhealth-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tax-funded</a> sex-rejection surgeries.
While many sex-rejection interventions are provided to inmates by in-house clinicians, those deemed eligible for sex-change surgery can apply for <a href="https://doc.wa.gov/sites/default/files/2025-02/600-HA003.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">temporary</a> coverage through Washington state&#8217;s Medicaid program, Apple Health, which provides coverage for <a href="https://www.hca.wa.gov/free-or-low-cost-health-care/i-need-medical-dental-or-vision-care/transhealth-program" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender surgeries</a>.
President Donald Trump banned the use of federal funds to pay for “any medical procedure, treatment, or drug for the purpose of conforming an inmate’s appearance to that of the opposite sex,” in a January 2025 <a href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/2025/01/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">executive order</a>.
In February 2025, however, Washington State led a federal, multi-state <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/69620657/164/state-of-washington-v-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">lawsuit</a> against the Trump administration, and obtained a <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/69620657/233/state-of-washington-v-trump/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">preliminary injunction</a> against the order that allowed inmates at federal facilities to continue receiving sex-rejection surgeries.
Payments to Dr. Stiller continued since Trump’s election, with the database showing he pulled in more than $800,000 in taxpayer funds in 2025 alone.
In 2017, Dr. Stiller gained national attention after being given permission to perform vaginoplasties at a small-town hospital in Idaho, despite strong objections from the community. The Washington Post profiled him as a compassionate surgeon caught in the crosshairs of so-called transphobia in a November 2017 <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/a-small-town-doctor-wanted-to-perform-surgeries-for-transgender-women-he-faced-an-uphill-battle/2017/11/11/c6073a0a-c3d7-11e7-84bc-5e285c7f4512_story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a>, in which he refers to performing vaginoplasties on gender-confused patients as “the right thing to do.”
However, after experiencing backlash and “multiple controversies” in Idaho related to gender medicine, Dr. Stiller started a new practice six years ago in Spokane, Washington, where it was “much safer to take care of patients,” according to the Stiller Aesthetics <a href="https://www.stilleraesthetics.com/team/geoffrey-stiller-md" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.
But controversy has continued to follow Dr. Stiller, who was arrested for <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/16UxVlQ1CRccdOcExZYsu9pTLyeD-_5qQ/view" target="_blank" rel="noopener">drunk driving</a> in 2021 and has faced multiple <a href="https://www.spokesman.com/stories/2025/jun/06/a-de-transitioner-law-firm-in-texas-now-represents/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">medical</a> <a href="https://cp.spokanecounty.org/courtdocumentviewer/imageviewers/SCDocumentViewer.aspx?docid=12187484&amp;caseNumber=2520215932&amp;subNum=6.0&amp;pageNum=42" target="_blank" rel="noopener">malpractice lawsuits</a> over the past five years, according to a December 2025 <a href="https://www.investigatewest.org/allegations-against-washington-gender-affirming-surgeon-stir-fears-of-backlash-for-trans-patients/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> by InvestigateWest.
One former staff member alleged Dr. Stiller’s drinking habits impaired his ability to perform surgery and resulted in at least one botched surgery, according to the report.
Dr. Stiller did not respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment on the allegations.
Court records show Dr. Stiller was performing surgeries for the prison system. He was one of two surgeons the Washington Department of Corrections was ordered to contact to “avoid additional unnecessary delay” within 30 days of a <a href="https://clearinghouse-umich-production.s3.amazonaws.com/media/doc/106591.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">legal settlement </a>with a male inmate who <a href="https://www.aclu-wa.org/publications/report-and-recommendation-pmsj/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sued </a>when he was denied access to sex-rejection surgery while incarcerated.
“Within thirty (30) days of receipt of the Evaluator’s report, the DOC will contact Dr. Geoffrey Stiller at Palouse Surgeons, Pullman, Washington and Dr. Daniel Dugi at Oregon Health &amp; Science University, Portland, Oregon to determine which surgeon has the earliest availability for gender affirming surgery,” the court document stated.

Records show Stiller Aesthetics was a “facility contact” on an internal prison list of gender medicine providers, and post-operative transgender surgery instructions from Stiller Aesthetics were distributed to inmates.
The Daily Wire asked Dr. Stiller about the extent of his work with the Washington DOC, and how many incarcerated patients he performs transgender surgery on each year. Dr. Stiller did not respond to inquiries.
Public records obtained by The Daily Wire expose the brutal realities that follow sex-rejection surgeries.
One inmate struggled with self image and physical complications after undergoing a “non-binary” mastectomy, an email obtained through public records requests revealed.
“I saw [redacted] today for their ℅ ongoing chest tightness and concerns regarding the appearance of their chest, post mastectomy. They are also concerned about continued tightness and limited [range of motion] to the upper extremities,” wrote Washington DOC healthcare staff.
“Please set the patient up with some visits to help the patient work through their self-image incongruence. [redacted] is identifying themselves as ‘non-binary’ and ‘asexual’ and though they did not want to maintain breasts, they also report to me they did not want ‘a male chest’ either – in particular they are not happy with the nipple placement and would have liked them placed more central,” the email stated.
Another staff member requested an inmate be placed in a single cell for a full year after undergoing genital surgery to provide privacy for their postoperative dilation needs, a document reviewed by the Daily Wire shows.
“Ms. [redacted] has her gender reassignment surgery scheduled for 11/22/24, after which time she will require a private place to dilate for 30mins 3x daily for six months to 1 year,” states the document.
“Recommending up to 1 year single cell,” the document states.
It was unclear if either of the described inmates were patients of Dr. Stiller. The Washington DOC declined to provide a comment.
In 2020, Dr. Stiller partnered with the nonprofit Genderbands which sponsors sex-rejection surgeries for teens and <a href="https://www.genderbands.org/aidan2019" target="_blank" rel="noopener">adolescents</a> who can’t afford surgery costs. <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CH-3DY2rATO/?igsh=OWFtbmF6bW5pODN0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Social media</a> with Dr. Stiller’s logo on them offered “FREE Top Surgery.”

Many of the surgery instructions from Stiller Aesthetics tell patients what to expect while hospitalized at MultiCare Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, one of two hospitals Dr. Stiller performs sex-rejection surgeries, according to the Stiller Aesthetics <a href="https://www.stilleraesthetics.com/about-us" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.
MultiCare told The Daily Wire that Dr. Stiller is not an employee of MultiCare. He does, however, have privileges to use MultiCare Deaconess operating rooms.

Prominent transgender medical activists are up in arms over the American Society of Plastic Surgeons’ recommendation that children under 19 not have body parts surgically removed to treat gender confusion.
The ASPS left no uncertainty on its position on gender surgery for minors in its February 3 policy <a href="https://www.plasticsurgery.org/documents/health-policy/positions/2026-gender-surgery-children-adolescents.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">statement</a>, which recommends “surgeons delay gender-related breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old.”
A group of only seven individuals, who identified themselves as “Concerned members of the ASPS Gender Surgery Task Force,” <a href="https://acaps-prri.informz.net/acaps-prri/data/images/Open_Letter_to_the_Board_of_the_American_Society_of_Plastic_Surgeons.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed an open letter</a> to the ASPS demanding the organization provide clarifying information about the gender surgery statement, including its authors’ names, how it was developed, and if the board considered the “areas of emerging consensus” being reached by the task force.
“Clarification of the process used in developing this position statement is necessary to ensure transparency, accountability, and confidence in ASPS governance,” the letter reads.
Signatories of the letter include leaders of the World Professional Association of Transgender Health (WPATH), a leading force pushing transgender procedures for minors. That includes WPATH president Asa Radix, MD, President-Elect Loren Schechter, MD, and board of directors member Scott Leibowitz, MD, who expected the “Gender Surgery Task Force” to “inform future ASPS statements or policy positions,” according to the letter.
&#8220;Let&#8217;s be clear: this is not a serious response from unbiased plastic surgeons,” Dr. Kurt Miceli, Medical Director at Do No Harm, told The Daily Wire. “This is a malicious attempt by WPATH activists to sow mistrust in ASPS&#8217;s meticulous and well-supported position statement on pediatric sex-rejecting procedures.”
“Their objections amount to little more than procedural complaints and never grapple with the substance of ASPS’s new position statement. This coordinated pushback should be recognized for what it is: unfounded and politically driven,&#8221; Miceli added.
The Daily Wire first reviewed the letter after it was obtained by Do No Harm. The ASPS told The Daily Wire the letter is based on a &#8220;series of misunderstandings.”
“It is important to note that the letter is based on a series of misunderstandings, which ASPS is in the process of clarifying for its members,” the group said.
WPATH is an activist medical organization that promotes discredited <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2025-11/gender-dysphoria-report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">science</a> that is heavily reliant on medical consensus, rather than scientific evidence.
When deciding what would be included in its clinical guidance, WPATH members <a href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8299905/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">created consensus</a> among its members by anonymously voting if they agreed or disagreed with proposed clinical recommendation statements, according to its <a href="https://wpath.org/publications/soc8/methodology/#delphi" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.
The open letter described how a similar process was being used by the “Gender Surgery Task Force” to find areas of “emerging consensus,” noting the task force was “actively working towards a summary intended to inform Board-level deliberation regarding any Society position or policy statement.”
Both the <a href="https://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ukgwa/20250310143933/https://cass.independent-review.uk/home/publications/final-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cass Review</a> and the Department of Health and Human Services report on the treatment of gender dysphoria note that pediatric gender medicine guidelines rely heavily on medical consensus amongst like-minded professionals, rather than strong evidence.
“Many internationally influential guidelines, including those from WPATH, the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, have been criticized for substantial methodological shortcomings and inadequately managed conflicts of interest, resulting in recommendations not reliably supported by rigorous evidence,” the <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2025-11/gender-dysphoria-report.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">HHS report</a> says.
“This pattern of circular referencing and mutual endorsement among these guidelines further compromises their credibility and has likely perpetuated a perceived consensus in pediatric gender medicine that belies the actual paucity of high-quality evidence,” the report reads.
The ASPS statement cited several comprehensive evidence reviews, including the HHS <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/gender-dysphoria-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, showing a departure from the consensus model adopted by many medical organizations.
WPATH did not immediately respond to The Daily Wire’s request for comment.

The Texas Supreme Court on Wednesday heard arguments in a case surrounding a statute that could impact how gender medical malpractice lawsuits are handled across the country.
Detransitioner Soren Aldaco’s medical malpractice lawsuit was dismissed in November 2024 when a judge ruled her claims were filed outside of Texas’ two-year statute of limitations, nullifying her ability to seek damages for the harms caused by her sex-rejecting surgery.
When Aldaco’s appeal <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TaXEX_NtHw" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reached</a> the Texas Supreme Court this week, her counsel argued the statute of limitations couldn’t begin until she was physically harmed by the surgeon&#8217;s knife.
“What was done to Miss Aldaco and many people like her is a medical scandal,” attorney John Ramer argued. “Kids and young adults suffering from severe psychological distress went looking for help, and what they found is medical providers saying that what&#8217;s going to liberate them from their distress is pumping them full of cross sex hormones and cutting off their body parts.”
Some Texas lawmakers have <a href="https://x.com/shelbyslawson/status/2019111108553084979" target="_blank" rel="noopener">proposed legislation</a> that would <a href="https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/pdf/HB00888I.pdf#navpanes=0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">extend</a> the statute of limitations from two to ten years for those harmed by rejection interventions in their state. They say that Aldaco’s case highlights the need for reform.
“Cases like Soren’s are not the intent of these two-year statutes of limitations in the Texas Medical Liability Act,” Texas State Representative Shelby Slawson told The Daily Wire. “Those limitations are not meant to give safe harbor hideouts for medical professionals whose ideology causes egregious harm to Texas patients.”
The outcome of Aldaco’s case could reverberate across the country. The statute of limitations for medical malpractice <a href="https://www.rocketlawyer.com/family-and-personal/health-and-medical/personal-injury/legal-guide/medical-malpractice-statute-of-limitations-by-state" target="_blank" rel="noopener">varies</a> from state to state, with many limiting the timeframe in which a patient can sue between one and three years after the injury occurred. If the Texas Supreme Court rules in Aldaco’s favor, it could inspire detransitioners in other states to bring similar suits.
Attorneys for Aldaco say the court &#8220;clearly expressed concern&#8221; at what was done to her, and are hopeful that its ruling &#8220;will encourage courts in other states to ensure justice for their vulnerable citizens.&#8221;
&#8220;Soren&#8217;s case reaching the Texas Supreme Court highlights the fact that the treatment she was subjected to is unprecedented,&#8221; Daniel Sepulveda, a partner 
at Campbell Miller Payne told The Daily Wire. &#8220;During oral argument, the Court clearly expressed concern at the idea of vulnerable individuals like Soren not having a reasonable amount of time to sue after being subjected to such medical and mental health treatments. A ruling in her favor would benefit all Texans harmed in these ways, and could also encourage courts in other states to ensure justice for their vulnerable citizens.&#8221;

In July 2025, the North Carolina General Assembly <a href="https://ncfamily.org/nc-general-assembly-overrides-governors-veto-of-hb-805/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">passed HB 805,</a> which extended the statute of limitations for sex-rejecting interventions to 10 years, allowing Mosely to <a href="https://www.thecentersquare.com/north_carolina/article_9097012b-b600-477b-b64c-3b1537846b44.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">refile</a> her lawsuit.
Texas State Representative Brent Money told The Daily Wire that in cases where there has been a “clear violation of the duty of care,” it is important that individuals, particularly children, can seek compensation through the court system.
“We also need to make sure that, in cases where there&#8217;s a clear violation of the duty of care, that the patient, who has been wronged, can be adequately compensated for that. Especially when the patient is a child,” Money told The Daily Wire.
Aldaco, a woman who struggled with gender confusion throughout her adolescence, underwent a double mastectomy at 19 that she later regretted, court <a href="https://law.justia.com/cases/texas/second-court-of-appeals/2024/02-24-00217-cv.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">documents show</a>. She sued her mental health providers, Barbara Rose Wood and Three Oaks Counseling Group, LLC, alleging they negligently wrote a surgical recommendation letter in February 2021 that allowed her to undergo the mastectomy in June 2021, <a href="https://law.justia.com/cases/texas/second-court-of-appeals/2024/02-24-00217-cv.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">court documents</a> show.
Many insurance companies and surgeons require a timely <a href="https://www.templehealth.org/sites/default/files/2023-08/surgery-readiness-letter-guide-2023.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">mental health assessment </a>and surgery recommendation <a href="https://transcare.ucsf.edu/surgery-referral-assessment-requirements" target="_blank" rel="noopener">letter</a> in order to move forward with sex-rejecting surgery.
In May 2023, Aldaco sent her former healthcare providers notice of her “health care liability claims,” weeks before the two-year anniversary of her surgery, believing she was within the statute of limitations. However, a judge agreed with the defendants, who argued the two-year period of liability began when the surgical recommendation letter was written in February 2021, and Aldaco missed her window to sue, court documents show.
Ramer told the court that while the mental healthcare was provided before surgery, Aldaco didn’t have cause of action — giving her grounds for her lawsuit — until she underwent surgery.
“The limitations period for a health care liability claim does not begin to run before the claimant is even injured,” Ramer told the court.
“There&#8217;s no such thing as a tort without an injury, and more specifically here, there&#8217;s no such thing as a negligence claim without an injury,” Ramer stated.
Opposing counsel argued the statute of limitations began in February 2021, when the surgery letter of recommendation was written, and acknowledged Aldaco’s mental health provider did not discuss her gender dysphoria before writing the surgery recommendation letter.
Ramer explained to the justices that the surgical recommendation letter was not equivalent to a simple medical referral but was critical to Aldaco accessing a double mastectomy.
“The letter was the gateway to the injury,” Ramer said. “The letter is what got her into–onto–the operating table for purposes of receiving this surgery because it was a required letter from the psychologist under the standards of gender affirming care that have to be followed.”
In 2021, <a href="https://e-space.mmu.ac.uk/625048/1/2011_WPATH_Standards_of_Care_V7-%202011.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">guidance</a> from the World Professional Association of Transgender Health, whose recommendations underpin insurance and health policies worldwide, required patients to undergo a mental health assessment to determine if sex-rejecting was “medically necessary.”
The guidance stated mental health professionals and surgeons had a “shared responsibility” when deciding to move forward with irreversible sex-rejection surgeries.
A recent <a href="https://www.plasticsurgery.org/documents/health-policy/positions/2026-gender-surgery-children-adolescents.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy statement</a> published by the American Society of Plastics Surgeons recommending minors do not receive sex-rejection surgeries addressed the role of “shared responsibility” in the multidisciplinary care of gender confused children.
“Diagnostic assessment, psychosocial support, endocrine intervention, and surgery form a connected clinical pathway rather than a series of independent steps,” the policy reads.
The American Society of Plastics Surgeons warned surgeons they cannot “rely” on the assessments of other healthcare disciplines when deciding if an adolescent is an appropriate candidate for sex-rejecting surgery.
“Surgical interventions inherit the foundational uncertainties present earlier in the continuum of care,” the policy says. “In this context, plastic surgeons cannot rely on the presence of a prior medical intervention, referral, or letter of support as a proxy for surgical indication or adolescent readiness.”
&#8220;Wednesday&#8217;s hearing at the Supreme Court of Texas is understatedly important. Even though I believe my case falls within the state&#8217;s two-year statute of limitations — and hopefully SCOTX will agree — detrans Texans deserve better,” Aldaco told The Daily Wire.

Ohio could soon protect parents who do not “affirm” their transgender-identifying children, a major victory for parents’ rights that could reverberate across the nation.
In states like Ohio, where lawmakers have embraced radical gender ideology in the past, parents who insist on their children’s biological sex and given name risk losing custody of their kids to the state. The Affirming Families First Act would ensure that these parents could not be accused of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-harris-hhs-consulted-activist-who-said-parents-should-be-prosecuted-for-transphobia?author=Spencer+Lindquist&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=8&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Biden-Harris+HHS+Consulted+Activist+Who+Said+Parents+Should+Be+Prosecuted+For+%E2%80%98Transpho" target="_blank" rel="noopener">abuse</a> or acting “contrary to the best interest of the child” by any state agency.
“No parent should lose custody, face state intervention, or be deemed unfit simply for affirming a child’s sex,” Ohio Representative Josh Williams, the bill’s co-sponsor, told The Daily Wire. “The Affirming Families First Act restores common sense to our child-welfare and family-law systems by making clear that affirming biological sex is not abuse, neglect, or contrary to a child’s best interest — it is a protected parental right.”
The bill specifies that parents have a right to use their gender confused child&#8217;s given name and correct pronouns, and that courts should not “consider a parent’s act of affirming a child&#8217;s sex as contrary to the best interest of the child” when allocating parental responsibilities for the care of children. It also prohibits state agencies from using state funds for training, education, or programming that characterizes affirming a child’s sex as abuse or neglect.
“It’s unconscionable to think that local government entities would flag a parent as being a danger to their son for declining to buy him a dress or call ‘him,’ ‘her,’’’ Representative Gary Click, the bill&#8217;s co-sponsor, told The Daily Wire. “We will not tolerate such government overreach in the state of Ohio.”
Several states have taken action to protect the rights of parents and legally clarify that affirming a child’s sex is not abuse. Indiana Republican Governor Mike Braun signed a bill <a href="https://iga.in.gov/pdf-documents/124/2025/house/bills/HB1412/HB1412.06.ENRS.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">similar</a> to the Affirming Families First Act into law in May 2025. North Carolina Governor Josh Stein received <a href="https://www.wunc.org/politics/2025-07-08/nc-law-parents-refuse-gender-transition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pushback</a> from his fellow Democrats when he <a href="https://iga.in.gov/pdf-documents/124/2025/house/bills/HB1412/HB1412.06.ENRS.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a law prohibiting child welfare services from investigating parents who affirm their children&#8217;s biological sex as a form of abuse.
Texas amended its criminal code to exclude such actions from definitions of abuse, and lawmakers in <a href="https://www.legis.ga.gov/legislation/72886" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Georgia</a> and <a href="https://legiscan.com/NH/text/HB1376/2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">New Hampshire</a> have recently introduced bills seeking to protect a parent&#8217;s right to affirm their child’s sex without fear of being investigated for abuse.
Ohio has been an epicenter of radical gender-affirming child welfare policies.
The <a href="https://hhs.cuyahogacounty.gov/divisions/detail/children-and-family-services" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cuyahoga County Division of Children and Family Services</a> (DCFS) was part of a <a href="https://taggs.hhs.gov/Detail/AwardDetail?arg_AwardNum=90CW1145&amp;arg_ProgOfficeCode=187" target="_blank" rel="noopener">federally funded</a>, multimillion-dollar research project that aimed to transform child welfare systems with gender ideology and strong-arm parents into affirming their child’s gender confusion, according to an <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/14/activists-behind-biden-harris-foster-care-regulation-want-to-strip-custody-from-non-affirming-parents/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">investigation</a> by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Cuyahoga County DCFS developed a gender affirming child welfare program called <a href="https://hhs.cuyahogacounty.gov/docs/default-source/default-document-library/affirmmepracticeguideb08fdd0d06d54f8f9f965002d3df2fd2.pdf?sfvrsn=e65a9250_0" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AFFIRM.ME</a>, which included a “Safe Identification” <a href="https://express.adobe.com/page/G64wjclns0IeS/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">intervention</a> that trained social workers to collect the sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression (SOGIE) data of youth who interfaced with child welfare, including children living with their parents. The data was put into a confidential spreadsheet that <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/23/exclusive-child-services-dept-working-with-biden-harris-admin-tracked-trans-kids-on-secret-database/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tracked</a> if parents were “rejecting” or “accepting” of their child’s chosen sex, according to the Daily Caller.
The county also adopted a <a href="https://hhs.cuyahogacounty.gov/docs/default-source/policies-and-procedures/50107.pdf?sfvrsn=3664d8e4_4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">policy</a> requiring state workers to have a “conversation about SOGIE” with youth ages 13-21, to ensure youth weren’t “unsafe” or “experiencing abuse or neglect because of rejection” due to their LGBTQ identity in April 2022.
“Youth in their own homes or in substitute care deserve to reside with affirming caregivers and other household members,” states the policy. “We can help ensure this by safely identifying LGBTQ2S + youth and understanding their individual needs.”
Cuyahoga County DCSF called its <a href="https://hhs.cuyahogacounty.gov/docs/default-source/default-document-library/sogie-affirm-me-report-final.pdf?sfvrsn=7fcd0581_1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">AFFIRM.ME</a> program a “blueprint for Health and Human Services divisions throughout the nation to follow” in a 2022 <a href="https://hhs.cuyahogacounty.gov/cuyahoga-county-news-now/news-detail/hhs-blog/2022/12/19/affirmme---county-program-to-service-lgbtq-community-receives-national-recognition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">blog post</a>.
The Biden administration <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/782984400/45" target="_blank" rel="noopener">relied upon</a> Cuyahoga County DCSF leadership when crafting a September 2023 rule that required foster care families <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/states-press-hhs-over-illegal-rule-that-could-force-foster-care-providers-to-facilitate-trans-procedures" target="_blank" rel="noopener">to affirm</a> a child’s gender confusion, and referred to the Ohio group as “trailblazers,” public record <a href="https://www.scribd.com/document/782982794/79" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emails</a> show.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sued the Biden administration over the foster care regulation in September 2024, saying the rule held “the Texas foster care system hostage to force unscientific, fringe beliefs about gender upon the entire country,” in a <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-sues-biden-administration-over-new-rule-forcing-gender-identity-ideology" target="_blank" rel="noopener">press release</a>. Paxton’s lawsuit was successful, and the rule was <a href="https://www.texasattorneygeneral.gov/news/releases/attorney-general-ken-paxton-secures-final-victory-over-biden-era-rule-forcing-radical-gender#:~:text=Attorney%20General%20Ken%20Paxton%20Secures,Office%20of%20the%20Attorney%20General" target="_blank" rel="noopener">vacated in its entirety</a> by a federal judge in June 2025.
Parents in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/murdered-by-gender-ideology-mother-whose-daughter-committed-suicide-blasts-child-protective-services" target="_blank" rel="noopener">California</a>, <a href="https://becketfund.org/case/m-c-and-j-c-v-indiana-department-of-child-services/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Indiana</a>, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/virginia-republican-moves-to-ban-calling-misgendering-child-abuse-after-girl-is-kept-from-her-parents-for-it" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Virginia</a>, and <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/10/17/exclusive-gender-confused-kids-taken-non-affirming-parents-one-family-fight-son-back/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Maryland</a> have had their children taken away by child welfare services for affirming their child’s sex.
Erin Lee, a Colorado mom, was investigated by CPS for continuing to affirm her 12-year-old daughter&#8217;s female sex when she began identifying as a boy after she was “secretly groomed” at school, Lee told The Daily Wire in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/inside-the-push-for-trump-to-keep-radical-gender-ideology-out-of-child-welfare-programs?author=Mary+Margaret+Olohan&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Inside+The+Push+For+Trump+To+Keep+Radical+Gender+Ideology+Out+Of+Child+Welfare+Programs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">January 2026</a>.
“Tragically, kids have been harmed, trafficked and even died in state care after being removed from their families on these false claims of abuse. Thousands more have been denied access to loving foster families who affirm reality,” Laura Hanford, Senior Policy Analyst at the Richard and Helen DeVos Center for Human Flourishing, told The Daily Wire. “There is no scientific evidence or marker for ‘gender identity,’ yet parents from coast to coast have lost their children for refusing to adopt this belief system.”
While states begin to take action to protect the rights of families to affirm biology, parental rights advocate Erin Friday told The Daily Wire that federal action is needed.
“All roads lead to sex-rejecting interventions when child welfare programs get involved with a child who is distressed about their sex,” Friday, president of the parental advocacy group Our Duty-USA, said. “The entire network of child welfare programs is being used to force parents to either subject their child to sex-rejecting intervention or lose all contact with their child.”

Ohio May Protect Parents Who Won’t ‘Affirm’ Their Child’s ‘Gender Identity’

A major Catholic health system taught staff members how to be legally uncooperative with Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in one of the hospital’s most prestigious lecture settings.
<a href="https://www.providence.org/locations/or/provider-resources-and-referrals/womens-health-provider-resources/professional-education" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Providence Health</a> hosted a virtual version of grand rounds — a weekly occurrence where leading doctors train other physicians and staff in crucial methodologies — aimed at providing better understanding of the “intense fear in which their immigrant patients are living” and taught staff how to be effective advocates during ICE encounters “within the boundaries of internal policy,” according to a <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ORacXqH8Jc9XuEcyZFzaZaqrsQ3Hpxuo/view?usp=sharing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">document</a> and <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KA_zOzGQgyc&amp;list=PL5EjetDHODdNsYNrClwtvsJPyKCnke2BB&amp;index=13">recording</a> reviewed by The Daily Wire. Erin McKee, co-founder of the <a href="https://www.ojrc.info/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Oregon Justice Resource Center</a>, presented during the one-hour webinar titled “Providence Women and Children&#8217;s Virtual Grand Rounds: Know Your Rights with ICE,” on January 29, 2026.
“When ICE is after you or your friends or family and you don&#8217;t want to help them, right? You&#8217;re not obligated to do that,” McKee said during the presentation. “If you think ICE is after you or your friends and family and you don’t want to help, your mindset should be don’t trust. They might not be telling you the truth. And ICE, ICE will often lie in order to get someone to move from maybe a private protected space to a public space where they can lawfully arrest them.&#8221;
Providence is a major health system with a Catholic heritage that spans six states and includes more than 125,000 employees, 51 hospitals, and 1,014 health clinics, according to its <a href="https://www.providence.org/about" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>. It is unclear how many employees tuned in to grand rounds, but the session was open to the entire staff nationwide.

The Oregon Justice Resource Center suggests individuals follow a “Don’t Trust, Don’t Talk, Don’t Consent” model when approached by law enforcement, as stated on its <a href="https://www.ojrc.info/kyr" target="_blank" rel="noopener">website</a>.
McKee mocked <a href="https://www.dhs.gov/news/2026/02/04/dhs-sets-record-straight-administrative-warrants-and-american-public-support" target="_blank" rel="noopener">administrative warrants</a> used by ICE agents when arresting illegal migrants, calling them, “A paper that says, ‘Dear me, you can do whatever you want. Signed me.’ And then they’re like, ‘See, this paper says I can do whatever I want.’”
McKee encouraged hospital staff to call the <a href="https://pircoregon.org/about/what-to-do-if-you-see-ice" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Portland Immigrant Rights Coalition</a> (PIRC) hotline, an activist group that tracks ICE activity and provides a rapid response, if they came across ICE agents.
“And what happens is if you witness or observe ICE enforcement activity or suspected ICE enforcement activity, you call the hotline. PIRC will send a volunteer to that location to verify whether it is, in fact, ICE activity,” said McKee.
Dr. Kurt Miceli, medical director at Do No Harm, disagrees with the insertion of political activism into grand rounds.
“Grand Rounds have long been dedicated to clinical, medical, and scientific topics that directly advance patient care and research, not to political activism. The profession’s core responsibility is to care for patients, and presenting politically oriented content as Grand Rounds risks weakening professional focus, compromising institutional neutrality, and diminishing trust in the educational mission,” Miceli told The Daily Wire.
At the start of the presentation, a Providence Health staff member noted federal immigration enforcement was causing the community “deep pain.”
“I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge the deep pain, fear and grief being felt across our communities in light of the recent escalation and federal immigration enforcement activity and the tragic fatal shootings of Renee [Good] and Alex [Pretti] in Minnesota,” said Kara Johnson, the senior director of women and children’s services at Providence, at the beginning of the session. Johnson’s remarks refer to Good and Pretti, two anti-ICE <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/alex-pretti-attacked-immigration-enforcement-days-before-fatal-shooting-video-shows" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protesters</a> killed by federal immigration officials in Minneapolis amid the Trump administration’s Operation Metro Surge. The deaths of Pretti and Good have led to massive protests in the Twin Cities and caused the Trump administration to <a href="http://dailywire.com/news/ice-agents-ordered-to-meet-this-democrat-demand?author=Jennie+Taer&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Some+ICE+Agents+Ordered+To+Cut+Back+On+Deportation+Tactic+Targeted+By+Dems%2C+Sources+Say" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rethink</a> its approach to deportations.
“These events have sent shock waves through immigrant communities and all who care about justice and safety. Many of our patients, our colleagues, and our neighbors are carrying heavy trauma right now,” said Johnson.
“Obviously federal agents are violating rights. We are watching it on TV. We are seeing them completely disregard the Constitution, any type of norms that have applied in law enforcement situations,” McGee stated.

&#8220;Patients are never asked about their citizenship or legal status in order to receive medically necessary care, and we follow federal and state privacy laws, including HIPAA, that protect the confidentiality, dignity and safety of every patient we serve. While law enforcement officials are permitted in public spaces including entrances, lobbies and waiting areas, pursuant to our longstanding practice they are not allowed to access private areas of our facilities unless we have the patient’s explicit consent or the requesting party presents the appropriate legal authority — such as continuing legal custody, valid subpoena, court order or judicial warrant. Caregivers have clear procedures to follow if law enforcement agents request access to patients or their information, consistent with federal and state patient privacy requirements, which prohibit disclosure of protected health information without proper authorization.&#8221;

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons sent shockwaves through the medical community yesterday when it became the first major medical association to strongly disavow child sex-rejection surgeries.
The ASPS, the world’s largest organization of plastic surgeons, left no uncertainty about its position, recommending that “surgeons delay gender-related breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old,” in a <a href="https://www.plasticsurgery.org/documents/health-policy/positions/2026-gender-surgery-children-adolescents.pdf">policy statement</a> on gender surgery for minors, which could have a worldwide impact on the transgender surgical industry.
&#8220;Medical societies shape far more than professional opinion — they set the guardrails for how medicine is practiced, taught, and reimbursed,” Dr. Kurt Miceli, chief medical officer at Do No Harm, told The Daily Wire.
“That’s why the ASPS statement on pediatric medical transition lands with such weight,” Miceli added. “When a leading surgical society acknowledges that the risks of endocrine and surgical interventions outweigh their benefits, it makes clear that the so-called ‘standard of care’ pushed by gender activists is far from established. In fact, the evidence points to the harms of so-called ‘gender-affirming care.’” 
After reviewing the science supporting pediatric gender medicine, ASPS concluded there was “insufficient evidence demonstrating a favorable risk-benefit ratio for the pathway of gender-related endocrine and surgical interventions in children and adolescents,” according to the statement.
The ASPS statement was published just days after a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/detransitioner-awarded-millions-in-first-malpractice-verdict-this-is-how-it-all-ends">landmark</a> $2 million settlement was awarded to detransitioner Fox Varian, who sued her psychologist and surgeon after receiving a double mastectomy at age 16.    
Several comprehensive evidence reviews, including the Department of Health and Human Services <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/gender-dysphoria-report">report</a> on the treatment of gender dysphoria, were cited as providing a basis for the ASPS statement, showing a departure from the consensus model adopted by many medical organizations. 
“In the United States, pediatric medical transition has relied heavily on support from medical associations rather than, and against the findings of, systematic reviews of evidence,” Leor Sapir, PhD, a Senior Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, told The Daily Wire. “That consensus was also very thin. It reflected the viewpoints of only a small number of groups that were, in essence, beholden to activists within their ranks.”
The peer-reviewed HHS report on the treatment of gender dysphoria found that pediatric gender medicine puts children at risk of “significant harms” and is supported by deeply flawed science.
“This is the first major medical group to cite the HHS report in a favorable way. The ASPS&#8217;s citation of the HHS report (alongside the Cass Review) is very significant because it suggests that leaders of a doctor organization have read it, engaged with its findings in a serious way, and found it persuasive,” Sapir, who co-authored the HHS report, told The Daily Wire. 
The American Academy of Pediatrics has sharply criticized the HHS report on gender medicine, saying it &#8220;prioritizes opinions over dispassionate reviews of evidence,” in a May 2025 <a href="https://publications.aap.org/aapnews/news/32145/AAP-speaks-out-against-HHS-report-on-gender?autologincheck=redirected">press release</a>.  
As staunch supporters of pediatric gender surgeries, the AAP <a href="https://dailycaller.com/2024/11/20/exclusive-how-small-band-pediatricians-aap-pushed-wpath-age-minimums-sex-changes/">used its influence</a> to persuade the World Professional Association of Transgender Health to abandon the inclusion of lower age limits for sex-rejection surgeries in its transgender medical guidance, the Standards of Care Version 8 (SOC-8), according to an <a href="https://www.supremecourt.gov/DocketPDF/23/23-477/328275/20241015131826340_2024.10.15%20-%20Ala.%20Amicus%20Br.%20iso%20TN%20FINAL.pdf">October 2024 brief</a> submitted to the Supreme Court by Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall. 
“Days before SOC-8 was to be published, pressure from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) tipped the scales when it threatened to oppose SOC-8 if WPATH did not remove the age minimums,” Marshall wrote in the brief.
“Thanks to the Biden Administration and AAP, SOC-8 does not contain age minimums for any transitioning hormonal or surgical intervention except for one: phalloplasty, the surgical creation of a neopenis,” Marshall wrote.  
The Daily Wire asked the AAP if it supported or opposed the ASPS position statement on pediatric gender surgery, but did not receive a response.   
“It is now time for the Endocrine Society, American Academy of Pediatrics, and others in organized medicine to re-evaluate their clinical practice guidelines and position statements; ASPS has given the house of medicine an opening to end these harmful, unscientific, and dangerous practices on our youth,&#8221; Miceli said.
