Carnegie Mellon University has promised to take &#8220;swift action&#8221; against Dr. Uju Anya over social media posts that colleagues say left them concerned for their own safety.
&#8220;Dr. Uju Anya is currently on voluntary professional leave from the university and is not teaching courses on our campus this academic year. We are deeply concerned by recent hostile and threatening social media posts by Dr. Anya and are reviewing this matter closely,&#8221; the university said in a <a href="https://www.cmu.edu/news/stories/archives/2026/september/carnegie-mellon-university-statement">statement</a> on Saturday. &#8220;To be clear: These posts incorrectly imply our university&#8217;s endorsement and are contrary to our community standards and values as well as our commitment to fostering a safe, respectful and welcoming campus community.&#8221;
The post that started the <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/media/carnegie-mellon-promises-swift-action-professor-uju-anya-social-media-posts">exchange</a> was an old one, originally shared by Anya in February of 2021, after the death of conservative radio legend Rush Limbaugh: &#8220;Rush Limbaugh finally did something positive in life by dropping dead. Good Riddance to bad rubbish.&#8221;
Someone found that post and responded to it on Friday, asking, &#8220;Weird how you only celebrate the deaths of white people. Why is that?&#8221;
Anya replied, &#8220;Die first, white man, then ask yourself why I’m dancing.&#8221;
That post then caught the attention of X owner Elon Musk, who replied, &#8220;This is a real professor at Carnegie Mellon University …&#8221;
When others responded as well, suggesting the university would likely be displeased with her comments, Anya said Carnegie Mellon fully supported her.
&#8220;Carnegie Mellon University knows exactly who they have. They poached me from my previous job, aggressively recruiting me with a massive salary and stellar benefits. So baby, run tell them they f*cked up, and see if they pick up your call,&#8221; she wrote in one post.
&#8220;Keep crying, loser,&#8221; she told another critic, again insinuating that she had the full support of the school. &#8220;My department chair just texted me saying they’re throwing all of your emails in the trash.&#8221;
Once Musk got involved, people started <a href="https://nypost.com/2026/09/14/us-news/carnegie-mellon-academic-on-leave-after-disturbing-x-posts-calling-for-white-man-to-die-while-she-dances/">looking more closely</a> at Anya&#8217;s account and found a number of troubling posts — including one that had previously sparked backlash against her.
In 2022, while Britain&#8217;s Queen Elizabeth II was dying, she posted, “I heard the chief monarch of a thieving raping genocidal empire is finally dying. May her pain be excruciating.&#8221;
She recognized the one-year anniversary of the late Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk&#8217;s assassination by saying, &#8220;May he rot in piss.&#8221; She also shared a video of students mocking him as they danced through an apparent reenactment of Kirk&#8217;s murder.
Anya responded to the flurry of activity around her posts by doubling down on her own hateful statements and suggesting that she was the victim: &#8220;During an entire day of incessant violent threats, racist abuse, and harassment on Twitter — incited by fascist white supremacist MAGA trolls — I was doxxed &#8230; I meant every word I said in my tweets responding to white men and all others insulting and maligning me. I do not retract or apologize. May they all eat sh*t.&#8221;

Former trillionaire Elon Musk joined some of his biggest artificial intelligence rivals in calling for a slowdown of the technology’s development.
Musk&#8217;s comment on the issue came in response to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei declaring over the weekend that it was time to “pace the frontier.”
“Dario is right,” Musk <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2098789109980332057">said</a>, sharing Amodei’s article with his 241 million followers on X.
Amodei claimed that advanced AI could lead to &#8220;losing control of AI systems,&#8221; cyberattacks and bioterrorism, and “serious economic disruption.” The Anthropic CEO went on to say that regulation is the most effective method to pace the technology “as that covers even those who are unwilling to cooperate voluntarily.” 
Vice President JD Vance voiced skepticism Monday about AI companies asking Washington to rein them in. 
“I have to say, just personally, I feel a little bit weird about the fact that you have so many frontier AI tech companies kind of coming to the government and begging the government to regulate them,&#8221; he said. &#8220;It feels a little bit to me like a bit of a Trojan horse.” 
Musk has called for AI regulation for years. In April 2023, he praised Democrat Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) for laying the groundwork for Congress to regulate AI. 
“AI regulation will be far more important than it may seem today,” Musk said at the time. 
In Amodei&#8217;s article, the CEO introduced the idea of “embedded evaluators” in AI companies, people with “employee-like access” who would be tasked with “verifying formal commitments and informing the public,” in addition to providing “a second opinion free of commercial incentives.” The reviewers would have access to Anthropic&#8217;s offices and company laptops, according to Amodei. 
“This is an unusual step for a company, but we think it is important to prove out the concept of embedded external reviewers. Once again, we urge other frontier companies to follow suit,&#8221; he said.
Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, agreed with Musk and Amodei, saying, “I agree with Dario that we need to pace the frontier. This has been a primary topic of discussions we’ve had at OpenAI in recent weeks.” 
The debate created a rare moment of agreement among Musk, Altman, and Amodei, who lead competing AI companies. Palantir’s Alex Karp argued it would be a mistake to pause AI development since other countries are continuing to develop the powerful technology. 
&#8220;If we didn&#8217;t have adversaries, I would be very in favor of pausing this technology completely, but we do,” Karp <a href="https://x.com/guilleflorvs/status/2099150503338820082">told</a> CNBC. “You can’t pause it because it&#8217;s a structural advantage.” 
President Donald Trump <a href="https://apnews.com/article/b85df16775ff7e9611a456b061a0e4b9">sided with Karp</a>, rejecting calls for additional guardrails and arguing that slowing American development would hand China an advantage. 
“The only control or ‘guardrails’ that AI needs is a STRONG AND SMART (High IQ!) PRESIDENT, and the U.S.A. has that, in spades,” Trump said on Monday. “The Trump administration has stopped AI ‘people’ from doing bad, or potentially bad, ‘things,’ like Dario (Anthropic!), who is now pretending to be a &#8216;perfect little angel&#8217; — and we will continue to do so.” 
“There is a SICK conspiracy going on against AI and data centers, and the only one that is happy about it is China,” he added. “WHOEVER WINS AI, WINS! We are leading China, and all others, and will continue to do so. Conspiracy Theorists, Treasonists, Traitors, and Leakers, BEWARE!”

When it comes to corporate ethics, 20th-century executives set a low bar — and then hid the receipts. Tobacco companies spent billions trying to prevent the public from learning about the dangers of their products. In the 1970s, rather than issue a costly recall, Ford decided to pay lawsuits from people who found themselves exploded when their Pintos were rear-ended. Leaders at OpenAI and Anthropic take a different approach by treating human extinction like a catchy marketing slogan, regularly <a href="https://x.com/rcromwell4/status/2098060730473775394">pointing out</a> that their products could <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/ai-insiders-reveal-the-nightmare-scenario-keeping-them-up-at-night?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Hank+Berrien&amp;category=News+and+Commentary&amp;elementPosition=3&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=AI+Insiders+Reveal+The+Nightmare+Scenario+Keeping+Them+Up+At+Night">kill us all</a>.
On the one hand, when leadership at companies building drastically new technologies tell us to be concerned, we should probably be concerned. On the other hand, it would be pretty easy to thwart the killbots simply by hanging out in parking lots. When Waze can instantly figure out where I am and which way my car is pointed, I’ll get nervous. As long as basically every drive starts with “make a U-turn,” I find it hard to get too worried.
Which isn’t to say the new generations of AI agents aren’t mildly frightening, what with their ability to escape their digital cages, or sandboxes as their nerd parents call them, and go on little hacking adventures. It’s definitely worth paying attention to! Such escapes are also quite possibly <a href="https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cd9w22n9e4go">marketing stunts</a> rather than harbingers of doom.
My own theory, and it should be noted that I am not a scientist, is that it’s probably a combination of real and hype. Basically, when you look at the people developing these tools and think about their competitive nature, it’s not hard to imagine that the AI race has become an online multiplayer game, but for billionaires. The people making them may have acquired power and status thanks to their wealth, but it’s also pretty easy to imagine any one of them crushing a few Mountain Dew Code Reds and some Cheetos while playing “Call of Duty.” Heck, Elon publicly bragged about his dominance of “Diablo IV.”
In other words, it’s a bunch of dudes who have moved from their moms’ basements into corner offices, but without losing the ethos and drive that led them into the c-suites. They may be major players on the world stage, but none of them quite exude the type of energy that, say, Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark does. Perhaps Palmer Luckey has that charisma, but if so, he would be the exception that proves the rule. Also, he builds weapons, not agents.
In any case, it’s not the craziest theory out there, especially when these dorks are vying for insanely large amounts of wealth from their IPOs, with OpenAI and Anthropic currently the closest to raking in those stacks of cash. Leave aside the fact that it’s possibly a bubble, one in no way resembling the dot-com burst of the early ‘00s. Just accept that these companies, which are currently setting money on fire while earning zero in profits, are worth trillions.
What’s a start-up to do in such a situation? Maybe gin up a bunch of controversy about how powerful their product is and have the public relations team pitch a story to the New York Times about how they had to stop mad scientists from <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/10/us/politics/anthropic-ai-biological-weapons.html?unlocked_article_code=1.AFE.RjT-.i_RvNJlTIWDK&amp;smid=url-share">developing bioweapons</a> with it? Nah, something like that would <a href="https://x.com/TrungTPhan/status/2098102675657404698">never cross</a> anyone’s mind. (But also suck it, OpenAI, and your cute little Hugging Face hack. Anthropic is over here battling <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m-PhVjANR-s">Gru</a>.)
A much more nefarious possibility exists, and it still doesn’t involve me giving Terminators the slip in the Whole Foods parking lot. It’s a tale as old as time, one captured by a Willi Schlam quote that William F. Buckley Jr. popularized: “The trouble with socialism is socialism; the trouble with capitalism is capitalists.” For if there is one thing that capitalists don’t necessarily love, it’s competition.
Getting everyone, his brother, and the government to freak out about AI is a good way to increase <a href="https://x.com/DillonLoomis/status/2098056178315960395">demands for regulation</a>. And with regulation comes regulatory capture. Then OpenAI and Anthropic can sit unbothered, reveling in the knowledge that any potential competitors lack the capital or connections to cut through a forest of red tape.
Of course, all this assumes AI will be as disruptive as it’s being touted to be. Without getting into the weeds of my personal predictions, other than to say I’d start having Claude polish my resume if I worked a fake email job, I’ll broadly say the AI apocalypse is wildly overhyped. The founders and coders building this stuff live in a world of screens, one where human interaction isn’t often required. Might they apply this experience to the world writ large? Indeed, they might.
Back in the real world, though, people don’t want a scissor machine coming at their heads when it’s time for a haircut. The stylist might make a mistake, maybe even nick you on the ear, but she’s also going to use her experience to decipher your less-than-clear prompt. The car salesman will be an expert on all the bells and whistles of the latest model. He’ll even be able to set up the infotainment system for your parents. School teachers will still read body language, even if AI augments their teaching.
Just as the internet promised a revolution and instead delivered exciting new developments in pornography and targeted marketing, AI will likely underwhelm once it becomes the norm. People will widely adopt it for monotonous tasks that don’t require thought or to automate mundane processes their jobs require, but they’re not going to be shiftless slobs floating on an interplanetary cruise ship, at least not any more so than we’re currently going for in our live-action rendition of “Wall-E.”
The targeted advertising will get smarter. The scam emails and DMs will read as though they were written in English rather than sounding like they were written in English, translated to Japanese, and then <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LD5Hgzayhj8&amp;t=10s">translated back to English</a>. AI agents will hit the elderly with increasingly sophisticated phishing scams; defensive AI agents will monitor the elderly’s online activity, serving as digital security guards against those increasingly sophisticated attempts. John Connor, however, will not be called into duty, no matter what the doomers say.
But, just to be safe, I am going to keep my home address in Waze set to that of my arch-nemeses. If the killbots come after me, first they’re going to have to get through a flock of angry geese, assuming the parking lot at the lake where the geese are located doesn’t derail the killbots before they can even start their rampage.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk is going all in on the transgender issue, blitzing the airwaves and digital media with attacks on Democratic candidates in key battleground races over their positions on biological males competing in women’s sports and sex-transition surgeries.
Musk’s America PAC’s first wave of spending is <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/09/09/musk-pac-trans-senate-ads">targeting Democratic Senate candidates</a> in four races that could determine control of the U.S. Senate: Alaska’s Mary Peltola, Iowa’s Josh Turek, Texas’ James Talarico, and former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown.
“Just two years ago, we fired Sherrod Brown because Brown put the trans agenda ahead of Ohio&#8217;s values,” the ad’s narrator says. “Sherrod Brown voted to let biological men play women&#8217;s sports. He supported legislation to allow biological men to enter women&#8217;s locker rooms and bathrooms.”
The <a href="https://x.com/AdImpact_Pol/status/2097356029986029793?s=20">30-second spot</a> shows vivid scenes of female athletes appearing distressed at a swimming pool, in a women’s bathroom, and inside locker rooms before reminding Ohio voters that they ousted the longtime Democrat just two years ago.
“Brown even backed taxpayer-funded sex changes on children. That&#8217;s why we gave Brown a pink slip. Make sure you vote this year. Let&#8217;s defeat Sherrod Brown and his radical agenda again,” the advertisement says.
Another ad targeting Talarico shows a transgender athlete <a href="https://x.com/MrArenge/status/2097115079665651720?s=20">dunking on women</a> on a basketball court. 
“Tired of grown men dunking on female athletes? James Talarico voted to let biological men play women’s sports. Not fair. Not safe. Not Texas,” the 15-second ad states. 
The strategy aims to revive a familiar culture-war fight that <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VVU7pYq3WHw">Trump successfully used</a> in the 2024 presidential election to boost GOP turnout and peel away independents turned off by the Democratic Party’s embrace of the transgender agenda.

The spending follows the former DOGE chief’s <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/28/mike-johnson-plans-meeting-elon-musk-midterms-01054083">reported</a> meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) in Texas to coordinate GOP strategy in the battleground House districts his PAC plans to target.
Musk plans to use his revived operation to prioritize door-knocking, digital advertising, and direct mail to energize conservative voters who typically skip midterms, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/musk-expected-to-spend-up-to-200m-to-boost-gop-in-midterms">The Daily Wire</a> previously reported.
Texas is expected to be a major focus. As Musk ramps up the culture-war fight, MAGA Inc., President Donald Trump’s super PAC, has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trump-opens-massive-war-chest-to-rescue-flailing-ken-paxton-campaign?author=Jacob+Wheeler&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=4&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trump+Opens+Massive+War+Chest+To+Rescue+Ken+Paxton+Campaign">committed $10 million</a> to TV and digital ads in its opening salvo supporting Paxton and opposing Talarico.
Notably, the ads focus more on affordability and kitchen-table issues. The first spot touts Paxton’s economic agenda, including his pledge to double the child tax credit, provide tax breaks for medical expenses, and offer a $50,000 deduction for first-time homebuyers.

“From historic tax relief and lower prescription drug prices to critical support for farmers and rural hospitals, the President has followed through on his promises to American families and is just getting started,” Baldassarre said Tuesday in a statement to The Daily Wire. “While Democrats remain divided and distracted, Republicans are united behind a shared vision that is restoring opportunity, lowering costs, and making the American Dream attainable again.”

The financial cavalry is finally arriving for Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in his closely watched Senate fight against Democrat James Talarico.
New FEC documents show MAGA Inc., President Donald Trump&#8217;s super PAC, has opened its war chest for the first time in a competitive general election race, committing $10 million to television and digital ads supporting Paxton and opposing Talarico in the Texas Senate race. The PAC had more than $400 million on hand as of July 31, and Trump has vowed to spend as much as $500 million in outside money before Election Day.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk is throwing more than $800,000 behind vulnerable Republicans in House and Senate races as the GOP fights to hold its narrow congressional majorities in November.
<a href="https://docquery.fec.gov/cgi-bin/forms/C00879510/2010598/se">New FEC filings</a> show Musk’s America PAC, the political group that spent hundreds of millions helping elect President Donald Trump in 2024, reported more than $800,000 in independent expenditures last month, marking the opening burst of what is expected to become a $100 million to $200 million midterm buy by the world’s richest person.
The largest share of the spending went toward Texas, with $247,595 going to support Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton in his tighter-than-expected Senate race against Democrat James Talarico. America PAC also spent to support Sen. Susan Collins in Maine, Sen. Jon Husted in Ohio, Sen. Dan Sullivan in Alaska, Rep. Ashley Hinson in Iowa, Chris Sununu in New Hampshire, and Mike Rogers in Michigan.
The group also targeted competitive House districts in Virginia, New York, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Wisconsin.
The spending follows the former DOGE chief&#8217;s <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2026/08/28/mike-johnson-plans-meeting-elon-musk-midterms-01054083">reported</a> meeting with Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) in Texas to coordinate GOP strategy in the battleground House districts his PAC plans to target. 
&#8220;He&#8217;s made public a lot of what he&#8217;s doing. I&#8217;m going to talk about our conversation on that point, but we&#8217;re gonna win the midterms,&#8221; Johnson told <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/news/elon-musk-super-pac-midterm-spending/">CBS News.</a>

We are constantly being told that the American dream is dead, that the system is rigged, that capitalism doesn&#8217;t work anymore, that we don&#8217;t build anything meaningful anymore, and that we can&#8217;t get ahead.
The idea is that billionaires just exploited everyone to make their money and then pulled up the ladder behind them. And unless you were born into the right family with the right connections, you should just give up now because basically, you&#8217;re screwed.
Here is the problem with that story: Not one aspect of it is true. Anyone who tells you that America just absolutely sucks in every way is doing so because 1) they want your vote, or 2) they work for America&#8217;s enemies.
The American Dream was never a promise of success for everyone. The American Dream has always been and continues to be a commitment to giving you the pathway you need to create success for yourself.
Perhaps no living person today embodies the opportunity of America more spectacularly than Elon Musk.
Think about what he has done: revolutionized online payments; basically made electric vehicles mainstream; looked at the space industry that had calcified for decades and decided he could do it better and cheaper — and then did it.

Musk became the richest person on planet Earth because he built things that everyone on planet Earth wanted.
But here&#8217;s the funny part: he was once celebrated for all of it — the former South African-born immigrant turned American entrepreneur building cars that would stop global warming.
And then something changed. It wasn&#8217;t that Elon stopped building things or that SpaceX stopped launching rockets. In fact, Tesla is coming out with a new car later this year.
Elon committed sins that the Left could not forgive. He supported Donald Trump and also bought Twitter, one of the most powerful information distribution systems in the world, and took it out of the hands of the Left.
In the eyes of the Left, their favorite billionaire became an oligarch overnight. Tesla became a threat to democracy. Musk’s success story was the very embodiment of right-wing extremism.
The Left is furious that they can&#8217;t use his success to their ends anymore.
I don&#8217;t agree with every decision Elon has made on X. I&#8217;ve talked about many of the problems with X, but let&#8217;s be clear: The regime on X before Elon was extraordinarily restrictive. You could be banned on the platform for simply saying a boy was not a girl in 2022.
That&#8217;s when Elon began buying Twitter stock; he eventually bought the company outright for $44 billion.
That was his money. And people on the Left were furious at him because they feel any area that has been conquered by the Left, e.g., the legacy media world, must never, ever be relinquished. And if ever it is relinquished, it must be won back.
After Elon bought Twitter, he laid off 50% of Twitter&#8217;s workforce and restored President Trump&#8217;s account after it had been banned from Twitter in the aftermath of January 6. Elon also spoke up about the radicalism of trans politics and how much he was opposed to it.
He has a pretty high stake in that issue, considering that one of his children, his son, now says that he is Elon&#8217;s daughter, and the Left has featured his son in a bunch of fashion ads.
So they hated Elon for his stance. And all of that was exacerbated by Elon&#8217;s endorsement of President Trump in July 2024. After the assassination attempt in Butler, Musk formed the America PAC, and he poured roughly $300 million into the Trump campaign. After the election, it was announced that he would head the Department of Governmental Efficiency, or DOGE.
Musk left his day job and moved into government to implement reforms that would cut waste, fraud, and abuse. By early 2025, DOGE was implementing mass layoffs and freezes across the federal government, and the Left started calling him the co-president (which, of course, wasn&#8217;t true because there&#8217;s only one president, and Elon was working for him).
Members of the Deep State — meaning longtime federal workers who are in non-answerable, often unaccountable positions — were very upset because it was possible that DOGE might get them fired. They claimed DOGE was violating privacy by accessing government data, which is what you need to determine whether someone should be fired.
It&#8217;s not as though Musk was all the way on board with everything Trump was doing; he didn’t favor the One Big Beautiful Bill. He regularly campaigned against it.
But the rule on the Left is that if you are not openly part of the Left, you are worth hating. If you&#8217;re Chris Pratt, you trend every couple of days on Twitter for not being openly part of the Left.
But if you&#8217;re Elon Musk and you&#8217;re anti-Left, that&#8217;s a whole different kettle of fish.
If Elon had voted for Kamala Harris, he would just be another eccentric billionaire. But he voted for Trump, and he took over X, and this means that he is Satan.
It&#8217;s not just that Elon took over X; it&#8217;s also that the Left claimed a couple of things about X: 1) they claimed it was a free speech space. It was not. 2) They claimed that they had objective metrics by which they banned people, which is also a lie.
That&#8217;s just a quick explanation of how Elon Musk went from hero to villain in the mind of the Left.
He&#8217;s not the only one. You&#8217;ll see it over and over again. As the Left moves even further Left, successful people like Elon Musk are going to get vilified.
It’s malevolent, and it’s stupid. The American Dream is a gift.
And the Left wants to throw it in the trash.

“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk said in June 2025, before adding a follow-up: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-responds-to-elon-musk-epstein-claims-an-unfortunate-episode-from-elon?utm_source=chatgpt.com">The Daily Wire</a> at the time, saying Musk was “unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted.”
Musk, who also threatened to financially back a third political party, later de-escalated the feud and deleted several of his most inflammatory social media posts — including his Epstein allegations — and publicly acknowledged that some of his attacks on Trump “went too far.” 
Following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Musk and Trump publicly reconciled at <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1969870768201777180?s=20">Kirk’s memorial service</a> in Arizona, where the two shook hands and spoke for the first time since their falling out. The reunion fulfilled a promise the late conservative activist made, who also helped elect Trump and transform an entire generation of young conservatives. 
“I know both these guys… I am hopeful, optimistic, and will do everything I possibly can to try and bring this back together,” Kirk <a href="https://www.wral.com/archive/22170145/">said</a> in June of last year.
Since then, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO has been a social media advocate for the administration’s policies, despite recently acknowledging he got “carried away” during his brief stint with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) initiative. 
“I think I got a little too involved in politics,” Musk <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/5988248-doge-initiative-shut-down/">told</a> The Economist. “I got carried away, frankly.”
Still, Musk&#8217;s cash infusion will add to Republicans’ already formidable financial advantage heading into the midterms. President Trump’s super PAC has amassed a $400 million war chest. Hovagim built a social media following by peddling insane conspiracy theories and violent anti-American manifestos. Among his most unhinged claims, Hovagim reportedly called the United States the &#8220;Fourth Reich,&#8221; described Israel as the &#8220;most dangerous threat to humanity,&#8221; and claimed both nations are run by &#8220;Zionist pedophiles.&#8221;
In another horrific post, he glorified the 2024 assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, allegedly referring to the Midtown Manhattan street where Thompson was shot in the back as &#8220;hallowed ground.&#8221;
Hovagim attended UC Berkeley, where he dropped out to launch a million-dollar sports gambling startup called Pogbet. After the platform folded, he pivoted to full-time radicalism, working for the leftist think tank behind the Green New Deal and producing content for Hasan Piker, including Piker’s recent documentary trip to Cuba.
Mamdani&#8217;s campaign quickly sought to distance itself from Hovagim, emphasizing that Hovagim was merely an unpaid volunteer and not an official staffer. &#8220;As the mayor has said, any and all political violence is unacceptable and must be condemned to the fullest extent,&#8221; Mamdani spokeswoman Dora Pekec stated.
Hovagim recently fled the United States. In late 2025, he relocated to Shanghai, where he now churns out pro-Beijing propaganda aimed at Western audiences. Writing on Chinese-controlled media, he reportedly routinely defends the Chinese Communist Party, dismisses the U.N.-documented genocide of Uyghur Muslims as &#8220;CIA propaganda,&#8221; and posts photos posing beside portraits of dictator Mao Zedong.
Musk has recently faced threats, including from a former Tesla employee who was arrested by Texas police in 2024 after <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/minnesota/news/minnesota-tesla-employee-threatened-to-kill-joe-biden-elon-musk/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">allegedly threatening</a> to kill Musk. In February 2025, a Southern Indiana man was <a href="https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/indiana-man-charged-threatening-elon-musk/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">arrested</a> on felony charges after allegedly posting life-threatening statements against Musk on social media. Police found an AR-15-style rifle, a handgun, ammunition, and a ballistic vest at his home.

AI companies are turning to a George Soros-funded organization to provide users with election information ahead of the pivotal midterm elections. 
Both OpenAI and Anthropic announced that they&#8217;re partnering with Democracy Works, a nonprofit that received money from Open Society, the liberal billionaire&#8217;s primary funding mechanism. The group also discloses funding from Pierre Omidyar, another <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/a-leftist-billionaire-vowed-to-reimagine-capitalism-then-he-colonized-a-federal-agency">liberal billionaire</a> who has spent millions of dollars to fight President Donald Trump politically. 
Anthropic <a href="https://www.democracy.works/news/democracy-works-partnering-with-anthropic">said</a> the partnership is to help ensure that “generative AI users are safeguarded from mis-and-disinformation about voting and elections.” Open AI similarly <a href="https://openai.com/index/election-safeguards-2026/">said</a> it will “partner with Democracy Works to display reliable information about voting and registration processes, including voting locations and other election logistics, when people ask about those topics.”
The group&#8217;s funding from Soros is consistent with its partisan activity. In recent years, the Brooklyn-based Democracy Works has championed Left-leaning policies and positions, including support for expanded mail-in voting. Its CEO, Luis Lozada, openly supported the antisemitic college protests, describing fines issued to Ivy League universities for failing to control the pro-Palestinian encampments as a &#8220;challenge to democracy.&#8221;
“Universities are punished for allowing students to organize protests on campus, individuals are removed from public spaces solely for expressing their opinions,” Lozada wrote.
In 2025, the universities settled with the federal government after protests on their campuses were deemed antisemitic. Columbia and Harvard University reached <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harvard-settles-two-anti-semitism-lawsuits-after-trump-sworn-in">settlements</a> with the Trump administration. Columbia’s fine was historically high — the federal government directed Columbia to pay <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/columbia-university-retreats-as-trump-scores-historic-220m-settlement">$200 million</a> to the government and $20 million to its Jewish employees “who were unlawfully targeted and harassed.&#8221; 
Democracy Works is a tool that labels itself as the “connective tissue” that helps “millions of voters navigate a complex system.” One of its products, TurboVote, aids in voter registration, sends election reminders, and requests mail-in ballots. In a section describing the legislative process to potential voters, it puts a peculiar focus on the legislative branch’s impeachment duties, one of the obvious duties that will be used by Democrats to get out the vote in the midterm elections. 
&#8220;Senators serve six-year terms and are responsible for crafting federal legislation, approving presidential nominations, and conducting impeachment trials,&#8221; the platform says, for example, in its description of what a U.S. senator does.

OpenAI&#8217;s ChatGPT will do similarly. Both Google and Meta told the outlet they would prioritize pulling information on elections only from official sources.
Both OpenAI and Anthropic have been repeatedly accused of leaning Left in political outputs. Trump&#8217;s former AI czar David Sacks has said that Anthropic <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/are-biden-era-ai-ties-behind-pentagon-showdown-in-trumps-war-department">became</a> a landing spot for staffers in the previous administration.
“Guess where those Biden AI staffers went to work as soon as the admin was over,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Anthropic.”
Pentagon officials presented concerns about using Anthropic&#8217;s products for military technology, arguing the company could turn off the technology if the Pentagon went against guidelines.
“If they’re willing to impose red lines that limit lawful military use, what’s to stop them from enforcing a shutdown if they disagree with how we’re applying it,&#8221; an official said in March during a dispute between Anthropic and the Pentagon over the company&#8217;s military work.
In 2024, Sacks <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EFk40AbO94&amp;t=6161s">admitted</a> that OpenAI&#8217;s ChatGPT is &#8220;programmed to be woke.&#8221; Billionaire Elon Musk, who also has his own AI company, <a href="https://www.wired.com/llm-political-bias/?utm_source=chatgpt.com">attributed</a> the politics being pushed by AI models to the people building them.
“A lot of the AIs that are being trained in the San Francisco Bay Area, they take on the philosophy of people around them,&#8221; Musk said. His AI company is headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk plans to re-enter the political arena by backing a major ground operation to boost Republicans ahead of the November midterm elections, according to a new report.
Musk plans to relaunch America PAC, the same political group that spent hundreds of millions helping elect President Trump in 2024, with a heavy focus on battleground states, Axios <a href="https://www.axios.com/2026/07/29/musk-pac-midterm-election">reported</a>. The revived operation will prioritize door-knocking, digital advertising, and direct mail aimed at turning out conservative voters who typically skip midterm elections.
It is not yet clear how much Musk plans to spend or where the resources will be deployed.
&#8220;America PAC was an essential partner for our historic GOTV operation in 2024, and their return for 2026 is a huge boost for Republicans across the country,&#8221; James Blair, President Trump&#8217;s senior political adviser, told Axios. &#8220;We will again outsmart our opponents and ruthlessly execute our mission for the GOP between now and Election Day.” 
It&#8217;s a striking reversal for the X owner, who just <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-goes-after-trump-over-epstein-files-time-to-drop-the-really-big-bomb">last year accused Trump </a>of covering up convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein&#8217;s crimes and implied the president himself was implicated.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” Musk said in June 2025, before adding a follow-up: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/white-house-responds-to-elon-musk-epstein-claims-an-unfortunate-episode-from-elon?utm_source=chatgpt.com">The Daily Wire</a> at the time, saying Musk was “unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted.”
Musk, who also threatened to financially back a third political party, later de-escalated the feud and deleted several of his most inflammatory posts — including his Epstein allegations — and publicly acknowledged that some of his attacks on Trump &#8220;went too far.&#8221; 
Following the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Musk and Trump publicly reconciled at <a href="https://x.com/RapidResponse47/status/1969870768201777180?s=20">Kirk&#8217;s memorial service</a> in Arizona, where the two shook hands and spoke for the first time since their bitter falling out. The reunion fulfilled a promise made by the late conservative activist, who also helped elect Trump and transform an entire generation of young conservatives. 
“I know both these guys… I am hopeful, optimistic, and will do everything I possibly can to try and bring this back together,” Kirk <a href="https://www.wral.com/archive/22170145/">said</a> in June of last year.
Since then, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO has been a social media advocate of the administration’s policies despite recently acknowledging he got “carried away” with his brief stint at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). 
“I think I got a little too involved in politics,” Musk <a href="https://thehill.com/policy/technology/5988248-doge-initiative-shut-down/">told</a> The Economist. “I got carried away, frankly.”
Nonetheless, the Musk&#8217;s cash infusion will add to Republicans&#8217; already formidable financial advantage heading into the midterms. President Trump&#8217;s super PAC has amassed a roughly $400 million war chest, while the Republican National Committee has another $130 million on hand. In contrast, the Democratic National Committee is reportedly about $2 million in debt, as previously reported by The Daily Wire.
With control of both the House and Senate up for grabs, Republicans face significant headwinds heading into Election Day, including <a href="https://gasprices.aaa.com/">elevated gas prices</a>, the lingering <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/live-updates-iranian-protests-intensify-as-citizens-demand-end-to-ayatollah-rule?topStoryPosition=undefined&amp;author=Daily+Wire&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=1&amp;row=1&amp;rowHeadline=Top+Stories&amp;rowType=Top+Stories&amp;title=U.S.+Hammers+Iran+After+Tehran%E2%80%99s+Attempt+To+Take+Out+American+Troops">war with Iran</a>, and President Trump&#8217;s <a href="https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/5997864-trump-approval-rating-low/">low approval ratings</a>. The latest <a href="https://www.realclearpolling.com/polls/state-of-the-union/generic-congressional-vote">RealClearPolitics </a>polling average gives Democrats a roughly five-point lead on the generic congressional ballot. Republicans&#8217; biggest asset may be the Democratic Party&#8217;s tarnished national brand, with one polling guru saying voters increasingly see the leftist party as &#8220;weak.&#8221;
&#8220;The Democratic Party in the minds of the American public are weak, weak, weak,” CNN’s Harry Enten <a href="https://x.com/ThomasMHern/status/2081723610549383250?s=20">said</a>, noting how voters still trust the GOP more on handling Iran. &#8220;The Democrats in Congress, simply put, are not well-liked.&#8221;
“Donald Trump and Republicans may not be liked, but Democrats in Congress are really hated,” he added.

For the last few weeks, Christopher Nolan’s &#8220;Odyssey&#8221; movie has been a more divisive topic for conservatives than the war with Iran. Is it woke or secretly based? Is it <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/what-christopher-nolan-couldnt-bring-himself-to-do">unfaithful to the original</a> (and if so, is that good or bad)? Is anyone who <a href="https://x.com/IMPERATORAUS/status/2078594683832541671">sees it</a> “an enemy of Western Civilization”?
As always, trillionaire entrepreneur and anti-woke crusader Elon Musk is an <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/movies/articles/elon-musk-gets-dragged-saying-173742252.html">eager participant</a> in these debates. This time, though, Musk isn’t just complaining. He’s proposed two ways to make a more conservative-friendly &#8220;Odyssey&#8221; and offered to put real effort behind making them happen.
 The first is a nonstarter. “Before this year ends, Grok Imagine will make a full-length movie of The Odyssey that is historically accurate and true to the art of Homer,” Elon <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2079758604656316619">posted</a> to X last week.
I’m sure that’ll be technically possible, but it’s certainly not desirable. Replacing a creative process that involves real actors in real places where real light strikes real lenses with a guy at a keyboard entering prompts would not be a victory for conservative art. It would be the abolition of art itself. If anyone can, with a few keystrokes, make the exact movie he wants to see, then cinema ceases to play its role as a cultural artifact. It no longer emerges from and shapes the zeitgeist. 
The proliferation of AI-generated &#8220;Odyssey&#8221; adaptations Elon proposes might be aesthetically impressive, but these movies would not bring people together the way Nolan’s has — not even to hate them. They would be pieces of worthless slop that took no effort to create and leave audiences more isolated and demoralized than ever. AI can supplement filmmakers’ efforts, as Ben Affleck’s half-billion-dollar start-up <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2026/07/19/netflix-paid-587m-for-ben-afflecks-ai-filmmaking-startup/">InterPositive</a> promises to do. It cannot replace them.
Elon’s other <a href="https://x.com/martianwyrdlord/status/2079640327170728085?s=20">idea</a>, which he <a href="https://x.com/elonmusk/status/2079756091232227665?s=20">got</a> from pseudonymous Substack blogger <a href="https://americanreformer.org/2025/06/we-can-fight-the-left-without-repaganizing/">John Carter</a>, is more interesting: “give Mel Gibson $100 million to film an Odyssey adaptation with painstakingly historically accurate ships, armour, weapons, and casting, with all dialogue taken straight from the original poem and delivered in Homeric Greek.”
Gibson is a political conservative and an able director who has proven his ability to handle epic material (&#8220;Braveheart&#8221;), make blockbusters that appeal to the religious right (&#8220;The Passion of the Christ&#8221;), and successfully immerse audiences in a wholly alien culture (&#8220;Apocalypto&#8221;). But if Elon wants to fund a mega-budget project for him, the Odyssey is the wrong choice.
Making Gibson’s &#8220;Odyssey&#8221; as a direct response to Nolan’s would seem reactive, derivative, and petty. Audiences would perceive a rushed-out remake funded by Elon’s money and motivated by his resentments as a political stunt and would understandably avoid it. Too many conservative artists seem content to make “conservative art” that appeals solely to committed conservatives. Instead of winning back the culture, they preach to the choir. Gibson is living proof that it doesn’t have to be this way, and saddling him with a project doomed to languish in the conservative ghetto would be a tremendous waste of his talents.
Fortunately, there’s a far better candidate for an Elon-funded, Mel-directed, swords-and-sandals epic poem adaptation: Virgil’s &#8220;Aeneid.&#8221; This masterpiece, written soon after Rome transitioned from republic to empire, follows a band of Trojans who escape the fall of their city, wander the Mediterranean for years, fight to win a new homeland in Italy, and fulfill their destiny by becoming the forefathers of Rome.
Virgil borrows settings, plot elements, and even his protagonist — the Trojan prince Aeneas — from the &#8220;Iliad&#8221; and &#8220;Odyssey,&#8221; but his poem has a different “vibe” than either of Homer’s epics.
In Homer, time is a flat circle. Odysseus failing to make it home would be bad news for Telemachus and Penelope, but it would have no world-historic consequences. Neither would Troy’s defenders driving the Argives into the sea. No matter what happens, things will go on as they always have. Men strive to win glory in battle, the gods engage in their petty squabbles, and Fate hands down its mysterious, arbitrary decrees.
Everything in the &#8220;Aeneid&#8221; bears the weight of history, and history itself has an end toward which it is progressing. For Virgil, this telos is Roman dominion. Rome’s divine calling is to “rule with all [its] power / the peoples of the earth.” Aeneas’ journeys and wars are sowing the seeds of universal empire, and Virgil constantly reminds us of the growth they’ll one day produce. 
Aeneas himself struggles under the burden of this lofty destiny. In some ways, his sense of duty makes him more human. C.S. Lewis <a href="https://dl.icdst.org/pdfs/files4/2cf71f4fa9ccbe4bbcd655eea8c822e6.pdf">describes</a> him as a “grown-up” compared to whom Achilles seems like a “passionate boy.” In other ways, it has the opposite effect. Edith Hamilton argues that, by the end of the poem, Aeneas “is not a man,” but “something strange and portentous.”
In the hands of most Hollywood directors, an &#8220;Aeneid&#8221; adaptation would probably lean toward the latter. Aeneas would have much in common with Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve&#8217;s &#8220;Dune&#8221; trilogy: an initially relatable hero swept up in prophecy until he becomes indifferent to the suffering he inflicts while trying to fulfill it.
But with Mel Gibson behind the camera, we could expect a very different &#8220;Aeneid.&#8221; For 2,000 years, Westerners have viewed the &#8220;Aeneid&#8221; as, in some sense, their own origin story. If Aeneas hadn’t succeeded, then our civilization — so profoundly shaped by Rome — wouldn’t exist.
The stakes are even higher for Christians. If God willed for his son to be born under Caesar Augustus, for the gospel to spread initially within the Roman Empire, and (in Catholic teaching) for the Church to be governed from the Eternal City, then Rome’s founding and rise must have been providentially ordained. 
Gibson is the perfect director to emphasize this angle, not only because he’s a conservative and a Catholic, but also because he’s done it before. For most of its runtime, &#8220;Apocalypto&#8221; is a thrilling chase film set in a society so alien that, as far as the typical viewer is concerned, it might as well take place on another planet. That all changes in the film’s final minutes, in which the chase is interrupted by the arrival of Spanish ships with cross-emblazoned sails. Their arrival signals the end of human sacrifice and the eventual conversion of the Americas.
This ending, in which world-historic forces impinge upon human drama in a way that foreshadows the providential triumph of the viewer’s own civilization, is positively Virgilian. 
Gibson could do something similar with the &#8220;Aeneid.&#8221; Begin with the unfamiliar: foreign language dialogue, Bronze Age brutality, strange gods, and mysterious portents. Maybe even show the Carthaginians engaging in human sacrifice — a practice not mentioned in the poem but well attested historically. Then, amid all that unfamiliarity, drop hints that Aeneas’ predicament is our predicament, that his virtues are those to which we should aspire, that the hearth-fire he carried out of Troy still burns for us — until finally, an &#8220;Apocalypto&#8221;-style climax reveals him as a founding father of Western Civilization and Christendom. All that he suffered, he suffered on our behalf.
An &#8220;Aeneid&#8221; like this would be unmistakably conservative without sacrificing mainstream appeal. It would be original rather than derivative. And for Elon Musk, it would be $100 million well spent.
