House Democratic Minority Whip Katherine Clark is facing a primary challenger to her left, further highlighting the Democrats&#8217; intra-party disputes over how to move forward in the Trump era.
Jonathan Paz, a former Waltham City Councilman and head of the left-wing immigration activist group Fuerza, launched his bid in the Massachusetts Fifth Congressional District on Monday. If Paz is successful, it would be considered a major upset similar to when Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez defeated then-House Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley in 2018 in New York.
“I’m challenging one of the most powerful Democrats in the House because we need new leadership. Let&#8217;s just call it what it is: Our Democratic leaders are failing us,” Paz said in his campaign launch video for the district that encompasses several Boston suburbs.

“They&#8217;re not stopping Trump. They&#8217;re not making life more affordable. They&#8217;re not building a party for the working class. That&#8217;s why we need to rebuild the Democratic Party,” he continued.
In the video, he noted how his father was “detained and deported” when Paz was 14 years old, noting that he’s “the proud son of Bolivian immigrants.”
“From organizing renters&#8217; rights in Waltham to standing up to big tech and now resisting Trump&#8217;s ICE, I&#8217;ve seen what&#8217;s possible when we organize our communities and stay true to our principles,” he said.
His group, Fuerza, is meant to counter ICE activities in the region with around 100 volunteers, <a href="https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/its-important-to-know-your-rights-waltham-volunteers-keep-track-of-ice-activity/3771402/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">NBC 10 Boston</a> noted. ICE has had a significant presence in the Boston area, with the agency touting thousands of arrests with &#8220;Operation Patriot&#8221; and &#8220;Operation Patriot 2.0.&#8221;
&#8220;We try to get up really early in the morning, do our patrols, get out there, find out where there are the threats in the community,&#8221; Paz told the outlet in July. “We go out and investigate &#8230; but part of that has to do with building relationships on the ground.&#8221;
As for Clark, she has been in Congress since 2013 and has served as whip under House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries since 2023.
However, her primary challenge is not the first in Massachusetts, as Sen. Ed Markey is facing a primary challenge from Rep. Seth Moulton, a critic of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.
In New York, Jeffries also faced a major primary challenge from New York City Councilman Chi Ossé, but the councilman failed to secure the backing he sought from the Democratic Socialists of America to move forward.
&#8220;Exploring the possibility of this run was important. As committed, I will not be launching this campaign without the support of DSA, and so the exploration process is concluded,” Ossé stated on December 5, according to NY1. His short-lived bid could have been considered an early test of DSA&#8217;s influence in New York City following Zohran Mamdani&#8217;s mayoral victory, but Mamdani himself was not a fan of Jeffries facing a primary challenger, <a href="https://www.politico.com/newsletters/new-york-playbook/2025/11/20/mamdani-no-way-osse-00661305" target="_blank" rel="noopener">POLITICO</a> reported.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) admitted during a recent interview that she doesn&#8217;t believe her party should be chomping at the bit to impeach President Donald Trump in the next two years.
Pelosi, who presided over the House through two impeachments during Trump&#8217;s first term, argued that in 2019 and 2020, the Democrats had a solid reason for moving ahead with impeachment — and that there was no obvious reason to impeach him based on his actions in his second term.
Pelosi delivered her assessment during an appearance on the USA Today podcast &#8220;The Excerpt&#8221; with Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page, and Page asked whether she would be behind a third impeachment effort if Democrats were to regain control of the House after the 2026 midterm elections.

&#8220;We had review. This was a very serious historic thing,&#8221; Pelosi continued. &#8220;And our founders knew that there could be a rogue president. And that’s why they put impeachment in the Constitution.&#8221;
Pelosi went on to take potshots at Senate Republicans, blaming them for the fact that neither of Trump&#8217;s impeachments had been able to get across the finish line to conviction in the Senate — or removal from office, which appeared to be the end goal.
&#8220;[The founders] didn’t know there’d be a rogue president at the same time a rogue Senate that didn’t have the courage to do the right thing. It was bipartisan in the Senate, but it wasn’t enough,&#8221; she complained.

A North Carolina Republican hopes to close a loophole in a federal law that he says allows child predators to get away with making sexually explicit videos featuring young children. 
Congressman Mark Harris introduced <a href="https://dw-wp-production.imgix.net/2025/12/Child-Predators-Accountability-Act-of-2025-Final-Text.pdf">legislation</a> on Monday that would allow predators to be punished for producing pornographic videos with children in the background, his office told The Daily Wire. He said that prosecutors sometimes have trouble bringing cases where a child may be seen in a pornographic video, but not engaged in an actual sexual act. 
“Protecting our children from sexual exploitation is one of the government&#8217;s most sacred duties — yet dangerous loopholes in federal law allow predators to evade justice and exploit minors,” Harris said. “We must act now to close these gaps, eliminate ambiguities, and equip law enforcement with tools to prosecute criminals fully and without excuse.”

Harris&#8217;s office pointed to a <a href="https://cases.justia.com/federal/appellate-courts/ca7/19-1005/19-1005-2020-08-03.pdf?ts=1596490236">decision</a> from the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals where a man named Matthew Howard had two convictions of producing child pornography vacated on a technicality. 
“The videos in question do not depict a child engaged in sexually explicit conduct; they show Howard masturbating next to a fully clothed and sleeping child. In other words, the videos are not child pornography,” the court said in an August 3, 2020 ruling. 
The court said that the government&#8217;s case against Howard stretched the &#8220;statute beyond the natural reading of its terms considered in context.&#8221;
Harris says his bill would clarify the law to classify those videos as child pornography, arguing they harm children regardless of how the child was involved. It would amend “federal law in three parts to ensure that videos intentionally depicting a minor in a sexually exploitative context – regardless of their role in the act – are treated as child exploitation under federal law,” his office said.

Under the definitions put forth in the legislation, intentionally depicting a child in a sexually explicit video would come with a 15-year minimum prison sentence. The bill is titled the ‘‘Child Predators Accountability Act of 2025.&#8221;
“Congress must act now to strengthen our laws and deliver real protections, ensuring that criminals who use children in any sexually exploitative context face real justice,” Harris told The Daily Wire.

House Oversight Democrats released 19 photos on Friday that show sex offender Jeffrey Epstein hanging out with prominent figures, including President Donald Trump.
The <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/fq3vn18ltfd83re8ggtle/AHYB3CbERvyT38o_vHllVx4?dl=0&amp;e=2&amp;rlkey=tz5pq4zr9i6nofkpi2g7l5vne&amp;st=rxoz19hb">images,</a> which belong to the Epstein estate, are part of the roughly 95,000 photos in the hands of lawmakers on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Some of the 19 photos also include former President Bill Clinton, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, filmmaker Woody Allen, and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.
The photo of Trump that Democrats have zeroed in on is a black-and-white image of a young Trump standing with six women whose faces have been censored to protect their privacy. It&#8217;s unclear where or when the photo was taken.

Other images from Epstein&#8217;s estate show sex toys, and one photo features a bowl of &#8220;Trump Condoms&#8221; sold for $4.50. The packaging on the condoms shows Trump&#8217;s face with the text, &#8220;I&#8217;m Huuuuge!&#8221; The condoms were made in 2016 as political satire and designed by Fishs Eddy, a housewares and novelty shop in New York City, according to the National Museum of American History. It&#8217;s unclear where or when the photo of the sex toys and condoms were taken.
In another photo released by House Democrats, Trump is standing alongside Epstein and a woman who appears to be model Ingrid Seynhaeve. The photo is from a 1997 Victoria&#8217;s Secret Party in Manhattan, the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15379413/Supermodel-dazzles-newly-released-Trump-Epstein-party-photo-rumors-secret-romance-Donald.html">reported</a>. Trump and Epstein were pals in the 1990s and early 2000s, before Epstein was charged with sex trafficking.

None of the photos of Trump released by House Democrats on Friday implicate the president or any of the other men shown in the images. The White House ripped House Democrats for &#8220;selectively releasing cherry-picked photos with random redactions to try and create a false narrative.&#8221;

Other powerful men appeared in the photos from Epstein&#8217;s estate, including Bill Gates, who was pictured alongside Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, the former prince whose royal title was stripped earlier this year after fallout over his close relationship with Epstein and allegations leveled against him by Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre.

Former President Clinton was also seen in one of the newly released photos, where he was standing alongside Epstein and Epstein&#8217;s co-conspirator Ghislaine Maxwell. Clinton was close to Epstein for years, and rode in the sex offender&#8217;s infamous private jet on multiple occasions. The former president has not been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s crimes.

Trump&#8217;s former adviser Steve Bannon showed up in three of the photos released on Friday, one of which included him talking to Epstein and another that showed him talking to Woody Allen. Bannon was working on a documentary about Epstein up until Epstein&#8217;s arrest on federal sex trafficking charges. On the day Epstein was arrested, Bannon was <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/general-news/bannon-epstein-doc-wolff-1236433536/">messaging</a> the financier about potentially filming on Epstein&#8217;s notorious Little St. James island. Bannon also has never been accused of any wrongdoing related to Epstein&#8217;s crimes.

United States lawmakers and other sex workers are holed up in Washington D.C. discussing what to do about Obamacare.
The problem is that the massive subsidies of taxpayer dollars that have been funding the bill are about to expire, and should they run out, the only way to continue doing the important work that Obamacare does would be to rake all our money into one big pile then set it on fire and dance around the blaze, chanting, “Oh, look, healthcare is affordable now! Just keep raking.”
Democrats are searching to find ways to keep Obamacare alive while simultaneously bringing down the cost of healthcare. They’re working on such cost-cutting innovations as building doctor’s offices on the top floors of skyscrapers, then having the exit door from the waiting room lead directly out of the building to a fifty story drop to the pavement below, thus limiting the patient’s healthcare needs to a mop and a headstone.
Another version of this inevitable Obamacare addendum is called Medical Assistance in Dying or MAID, in which doctors who previously fulfilled their sacred Hippocratic oath to “Do No Harm,” by performing abortions and castrating little boys for no reason, will now simply murder their patients to keep them from running up their healthcare bills.
The Democrats will attempt to sell the public on the MAID idea with an upbeat holiday-themed ad campaign called “Everybody Ought to Have a MAID.” The ads will include a catchy jingle with the lyrics:

Now rather than bear the healthcare onus, all you have to do is phone us and you won’t be billed, you’ll just be killed.</blockquote>

Now some lawmakers feel the problems with Obamacare are built into the system. The way Obamacare works is this: Imagine a strapping, healthy 25-year-old man. Now imagine a 90-year-old man slowly being devoured by a slimy, oozing, bubbling green old man fungus spreading inch by inch over his skin and painfully dissolving his flesh into a malodorous puddle of boiling blood-soaked goo. Now stop giggling. You people are sick. You disgust me.
Anyway, under Obamacare, the healthy 25-year-old and the bubbling, stinky fungus man pay exactly the same amount for health insurance. Now, of course, the 25-year-old will soon begin to think: Hey, I&#8217;m not sick. Why should I pay rates meant to cover dissolving fungus face over there? Ah, but Obamacare had a fix for that called the mandate. Under the mandate, if people refused to pay for healthcare they didn&#8217;t need, the government would simply steal their money at gunpoint and pay for it anyway. Unfortunately, the mandate was canceled, but luckily, the Democrats replaced the mandate with subsidies through which they steal everybody’s money at gunpoint but instead of calling it a mandate, they call it subsidies.
Now you might say: well, we can’t just go on stealing people&#8217;s money to pay for 90-year-old bubbling fungus people forever because we&#8217;d run out of money! But then you would be a Republican and you’d be forced to do nothing, because you’d be a contemptible poltroon, too cowardly to explain to people that we should leave the whole business to the free market.
If you’re a Democrat, you have a better plan, which is to keep subsidizing bubbling fungi until the national debt is so high we have to sell the entire country to China. Then the Chinese can deal with our healthcare by saying, “Oh, look, there’s a malodorous fungus person, let’s harvest his organs, then invade Taiwan.”
At that point, Republicans can finally take action by going on Fox News and shouting, “This is all the Democrats’ fault and would never have happened if someone had had the courage to stop them! Now we must go to war against China, which we would definitely do, if we could still afford a Navy.”
Democrats, on the other hand, will simply rake all our money into a big pile and set it on fire, then dance around the blaze, chanting, “Well, at least we still have Obamacare,” except in Chinese.

The House Committee on Education and Workforce is investigating antisemitism at the American Psychological Association (APA), which represents more than 172,000 researchers, clinical professionals, professors, and students across the country in the field.
An open letter written last February to the association’s leadership delineated antisemitism within the association. “In addition, Jewish advocacy groups have condemned the APA’s flagship journal, which published an issue that “repeatedly labels Israel a ‘settler colonial’ and ‘apartheid’ state, accuses it of ‘genocide,’ and refers to ‘Palestinian freedom fighters,’ language that distorts history, legitimizes violence, and erases Jewish self-determination,” the letter pointed out.
A former APA division president “allegedly taught that Zionism is a mental illness, called to ‘destroy Zionism,’ referred to Israelis as ‘genocidal f**ks,’ and, after the October 7 Hamas massacre of Israelis, wrote of Hamas, ‘how dare you slander the names of our martyrs as terrorists,’” the letter asserted.
“Some APA divisions are also attempting to revise the APA’s 2005/2007 Resolution on Antisemitic and Anti-Jewish Prejudice,” the letter continued. “These divisions introduced a new business item (NBI) in August requesting that the APA repeal its adoption of the widely recognized International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of antisemitism. The NBI makes light of antisemitism experienced by the association’s Jewish members by pointing to ‘weaponized antisemitism,’ which it defines as ‘the strategic and bad faith use of accusations of antisemitism, […] that […] has been used in particular to silence and punish people of color.’”

The U.S. Senate failed to advance two competing health care proposals on Thursday, leaving millions of Americans possibly facing steep insurance premium hikes when enhanced Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies expire at year’s end.
Both parties offered plans aimed at averting those increases, but neither secured the 60 votes needed to overcome a filibuster. The Republican measure, the Health Care Freedom for Patients Act of 2025, co-sponsored by Sens. Bill Cassidy and Mike Crapo, would have allowed the COVID-era subsidies to sunset on the timeline Democrats originally set. Instead of continuing tax credits to insurers, the bill would have redirected federal funds into health savings accounts (HSAs): $1,000 for adults ages 18–49 and $1,500 for those 50–64, capped at 700% of the federal poverty level. The proposal also would have expanded eligibility for catastrophic plans and restricted federal funds from being used for abortion or gender transition services. Republicans argued the plan sends money “back to patients” rather than insurance companies. Still, it failed <a href="https://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_votes/vote1191/vote_119_1_00643.htm">51–48</a>.
The Democrat-backed proposal, the Lower Health Care Costs Act, sought a three-year extension of the enhanced ACA subsidies created during the pandemic, at an estimated cost of $83 billion. Democrats warned that without renewal, premiums could double for many families and that the expiring subsidies were crucial to keeping coverage affordable. Republicans countered that claims of widespread doubling were misleading, noting that most enrollees would continue receiving the original ACA subsidies and that only about 1.6 million people would lose enhanced credits entirely.

With both bills blocked in the Senate, millions nationwide are expected to face higher premiums. According to <a href="https://www.kff.org/affordable-care-act/mapping-the-uneven-burden-of-rising-aca-marketplace-premium-payments-due-to-enhanced-tax-credit-expiration/#:~:text=In%2019%20states%2C%20this%20person,modest%20at%20all%20income%20levels">KFF</a>, those losing enhanced support could see increases ranging from several hundred dollars to more than $1,500 per person. University of Montana economist Katrina Mullan warned that lower-income individuals not eligible for Medicaid and older adults not yet on Medicare will feel the sharpest impacts. Rising premiums may also push healthier people out of the market, potentially driving costs higher for those who remain insured.
Kentucky GOP Sen. Rand Paul, the only Republican to vote against the GOP bill, has his own plan, which he <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-senate-is-about-to-vote-on-obamacare-heres-what-to-know">said</a> was not a “watered-down version” of Obamacare.
“My plan actually fixes the system. It doesn’t cost taxpayers a dime, and it finally frees Americans to buy insurance across state lines through real co-ops. No bureaucracy, no bloated mandates – just competition, choice, and lower costs,” Paul said. &#8220;Basically I would legalize the ability to buy insurance across state lines, through a co-op.”
Despite the Senate stalemate, House lawmakers may pursue their own measure, while Republicans continue developing alternative plans, including broader HSA-based proposals and bills to expand insurance competition across state lines.

When twice-deported Honduran illegal immigrant Oscar Gerardo Solorzano-Garcia allegedly fatally stabbed a passenger on a North Carolina train, the incident immediately drew national attention.
&#8220;Another stabbing by an Illegal Migrant in Charlotte, North Carolina,&#8221; President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social. &#8220;What&#8217;s going on in Charlotte? Democrats are destroying it, like everything else, piece by piece!!!&#8221;
But North Carolina had become a flashpoint in the national immigration debate well before Trump&#8217;s post. The Department of Homeland Security has been conducting “Operation Charlotte’s Web” in the region, which has yielded over 400 arrests so far, according to <a href="https://www.wbtv.com/2025/12/03/425-arrested-operation-charlottes-web-federal-officials-say/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">WBTV</a>.
Michael Whatley, a Republican Senate candidate in the state and the former Republican National Committee chairman, told The Daily Wire that immigration-related woes are no surprise, as the Biden-era crisis turned “every state, including North Carolina, into border states.”
The Republican is poised to face off against Democrat Roy Cooper, North Carolina’s former governor, in one of 2026&#8217;s most hotly competitive races If elected, the Republican said that “we need to make sure that ICE is going to be funded,” along with Border Patrol.
He also took a jab at Cooper, who left office at the start of this year, for his immigration stances. The Democrat vetoed House Bill 10 last November, which would have required sheriffs to work with ICE. His veto was <a href="https://dailytarheel.com/article/city-ncga-ice-regulations-sheriff-deportation-20241126">overturned</a> by the North Carolina General Assembly.
“He has set up a revolving door for criminals in North Carolina,&#8221; he said. &#8220;He is fighting harder for criminals and illegal aliens than for his own constituents as governor.&#8221;
“When we talk about going into the Senate, ultimately it&#8217;s a vote, and it&#8217;s going to be a vote for the president and his agenda, or it&#8217;s gonna be a vote for Bernie Sanders and Chuck Schumer and the rest of the card-carrying woke mob that Roy Cooper belongs to,” Whatley continued.
“Roy Cooper is the only candidate who spent his career prosecuting violent criminals and keeping thousands of them behind bars as attorney general, and signing tough-on-crime laws and stricter bail and pretrial release rules as governor,&#8221; a Cooper campaign spokesman told The Daily Wire.
Whatley also pushed back on the notion that some Trump voters were surprised at how immigration enforcement was going to be conducted. On the campaign trail, signs even said “Mass Deportation Now.”
“The fact is, the American people voted for security. They voted for safe communities and safe kids, right? They voted to shut down the border. They voted to deport violent, criminal, illegal aliens,” Whatley said.
“President Trump made it very clear that that was his plan. So any voter who was voting on those issues knew that the president was going to be moving very forcefully to get this done. And that we&#8217;re seeing those protests and in a lot of different places is a little bit surprising to me,” he continued. “But you also have paid organizations that are out there, you know, fomenting these protests as a very real point.”
Whatley said that immigration is likely to be a top issue once again in 2026, along with the economy.
“We need the economy to be clicking. I think ultimately the economy is the most important factor when people vote, right? We need to create jobs, we need to raise wages, we need to lower costs,&#8221; he said. &#8220;And the American people need to feel like we have a very strong economy. All signs right now are pointing towards us having a very strong, robust economy.&#8221;

The U.S. Senate will vote on two different healthcare bills on Thursday &#8212; one Democrat-backed bill and one supported by Republicans.
The bill from Democrats seeks to extend COVID-era Obamacare subsidies for another three years, which will cost taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. Notably, the subsidies were set to expire this month, a deadline set by Democrats.
The other bill, backed by Republicans, lets the Obamacare subsidies expire. Instead, it directly gives some Americans about $1,000-1,500 into health savings accounts.
Notably, neither bill is expected to pass the Senate.
<h3>Extended Obamacare Tax Credits</h3>
Democrats say the Obamacare subsidies, which are technically tax credits, need to be extended again. They started back in 2021 and were only supposed to be in place for two years, but Democrats extended them until the end of this year.
The extension, called the “Lower Health Care Costs Act,” is expected to cost taxpayers $83 billion, while wait times and healthcare costs continue to skyrocket for most Americans.
Democrats, who are reportedly trying to keep healthcare a main issue for the coming midterm elections, say tens of millions of Americans will see their healthcare plans double if the subsidies are not extended once again.
Republicans, however, say that&#8217;s not true.
“Twenty-two million of the 24 million people will still get their subsidies, the original Obamacare subsidies, which subsidize the insurance at 91% of the premiums,” Senator Ron Johnson (R-WI) <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/obamacare-is-a-disaster-could-trumps-plan-fix-it?author=Amanda+Prestigiacomo&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=26&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Obamacare+Is+A+Disaster.+Could+Trump%E2%80%99s+Plan+Fix+It%3F">told</a> The Daily Wire last month. “So their premiums won’t double.”
“Now, you can argue that people that went from paying a negligible amount to zero premiums, they’re going to have to pay another negligible amount,” Johnson said. “But again, going from zero to a negligible amount is an infinite increase. You can’t put that as ‘doubling premiums.&#8217;”
“The people we’re talking about, the 1.6 million people whose subsidies completely go away — I’m willing to work with Democrats on that,” the senator added. “But again, it’s simply false to say that most people are gonna see their premiums double and triple. Now, the gross premium has more than doubled and tripled since Obamacare, but that’s because of Obamacare.”

<h3>&#8220;Health Care Freedom for Patients Act of 2025&#8221;</h3>
The GOP-backed bill, called the Health Care Freedom for Patients Act of 2025, lets the Obamacare subsidies expire on the timeline Democrats set. It offers Americans direct payments to help cover healthcare costs &#8212; an idea floated by President Donald Trump last month.
The health savings accounts created by the bill are limited for Americans making up to 700% of the federal poverty limit. Funds will range from $1,000 to $1,500 for 2026 and 2027.
While accusing Democrats of papering over the issues of Obamacare and enriching insurance companies, the GOP says its plan will directly help the American people.

Like the Democrats&#8217; plan to extend Obamacare subsidies, the GOP plan is not expected to pass the Senate, despite the GOP majority. Some Republicans are still unsure about how to handle the expiring subsidies, viewing the issue as a political lightning rod, especially ahead of the midterms. Moreover, the GOP doesn&#8217;t seem to have any support among Democrats, and the bill would need support from a handful of them to pass.
<h3>Other Plans In The Works</h3>
Republicans are still working on other healthcare plans, hoping to craft something that will garner enough votes to land on President Trump&#8217;s desk.
One plan, led by Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger (R-TX) and Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), is called the More Affordable Care Act (MACA).
The plan would create HSA-style Trump Health Freedom Accounts, which would notably restrict use for abortion health plans, abortion services, transgender surgeries, or gender transition procedures &#8212; something most conservatives view as vital.

MACA would also create a new state waiver program within Obamacare to allow competition and drive down prices. It would allow health insurance plans to be sold across state lines and expand the availability of health insurance plans within existing Obamacare exchanges.
Another plan is being proposed by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY). Paul says his plan is not a &#8220;watered-down version&#8221; of Obamacare, like current GOP options.

The House of Representatives passed a massive bipartisan $900 billion package on Wednesday to increase pay for troops, authorize defense infrastructure spending, and provide hundreds of millions in funding for Ukraine.
The 3,000-page National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) <a href="https://clerk.house.gov/Votes/2025320">passed</a> 312-112 with 197 Republicans and 115 Democrats voting in favor. House Republican leadership celebrated the legislation, saying that it was critical to advancing the Trump administration’s foreign policy goals. 
“With the NDAA, President Trump and Congressional Republicans are restoring American strength, defending our homeland, standing with our allies, and ensuring the United States remains the most powerful and capable military force the world has ever known,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) <a href="https://x.com/SpeakerJohnson/status/1998935936164327660">said</a>. 
House Republicans said that the bill would codify 15 of President Donald Trump’s executive orders, including removing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) mandates and initiatives from the military, declaring an emergency at the southern border, banning men from participating on women’s sports teams at military academies, and building a “Golden Dome” missile defense system.
&#8220;America is the world’s strongest country because of our military,&#8221; said Rep. Roger Williams (R-TX). &#8220;With FY26 NDAA, Congress sends a clear message: We are committed to protecting our homeland, keeping our troops safe, and preserving peace.&#8221;
The bill allocates $800 million in support to Ukraine the next two years, increases spending on shipbuilding, forces War Secretary Pete Hegseth to turn over footage of strikes on drug boats or face cuts to his travel budget, limits Hegseth’s authority to pull American troops out of Europe, repeals certain sanctions on Syria, increases troop pay by 3.8%, and repeals the authorizations of force for the 2003 Iraq War and the Persian Gulf War.
A ban on the Department of War funding transgender surgeries for troops did not make the final version of the legislation.

Eighteen Republicans, mostly members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, voted against the final passage of the bill. Some voiced concerns about the amount of spending and aid allocated to Ukraine and other foreign countries, while others believe not enough waste was cut. 
Rep. Keith Self (R-TX) <a href="https://x.com/RepKeithSelf/status/1998885041263292751">said</a> that he voted no because there was no provision included to ban a central bank digital currency. Self said he had been promised that language because a central bank digital currency would be an “ultimate tool for government surveillance and control over every American’s finances. It would hand the federal government unprecedented power to track, restrict, and even freeze transactions.”
Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) took issue with the hundreds of millions allocated for Ukraine and said lawmakers did not have enough time to review the legislation. 
“Over 100 Democrats voted to pass this. That ought to tell you right there what this is about. Got some liberal stuff tucked in there, and it&#8217;s over 3,000 pages. We get it on Sunday, and they&#8217;re voting on it today. There&#8217;s no way we will ever know what was in there,” he said. 
The bill will now head to the Senate.

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-GA) reverted to the talking points favored by Iranian terrorists during a recent interview, referring to the United States first as the &#8220;world&#8217;s number one bully&#8221; and then &#8220;the Great Satan.&#8221;
Johnson, who first became a household name when he suggested that the Pacific island of Guam might &#8220;tip over&#8221; if too much American military equipment was placed there, made the comments while speaking with far left host Dean Obeidallah.

Johnson told Obeidallah that the United States was the quintessential playground bully, lording it over other countries that had less power simply because it was possible to do so.
“We are the world&#8217;s number one bully, and we are using our immense unrivaled power to rule over those who have less power,” he claimed, adding, “This sends a shocking message to the world that America is indeed the — what did they used to call it — the great hand of Satan, or something like that.”
“I mean, America under the Trump regime is demonstrating that that moniker is entirely accurate. That’s what we’ve become in this country, the great Satan,” he continued.
Johnson, during a congressional hearing about a military buildup on Guam, raised eyebrows when he suggested the added weight of the military equipment could cause the island to capsize.
“My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,&#8221; Johnson said.
Admiral Robert Willard, who was serving as head of the U.S. Pacific Fleet at the time, paused and managed to give his reply with a straight face: &#8220;We don&#8217;t anticipate that.&#8221;
