One of the big problems we have in the West — and this has been true for many years at this point — is the perversion of science.
For at least one decade in the United States, there was a grand delusion that was promoted by nearly every member of the legacy media. It was promoted by universities; it was promoted by Hollywood.
The basic idea was simple: A boy could be a girl. A girl could be a boy. There could be a female brain inside a male body, and vice versa. Sex was not, in fact, defined by biology. It was defined by the soul hovering inside you that might be a different sex than your actual physical body.
This was treated as a fundamental, eternal truth by most people in a position of authority. Why? Because the scientific community decided it was going to back the insanity of the gender theories.
Now it turns out that virtually all of that was just based on absolute nonsense.
According to <a href="https://www.thefp.com/p/were-all-just-winging-it-what-the">The Free Press</a>: 
<blockquote>At their conferences, closed to outsiders and the press, the gender clinicians allowed themselves to speak freely. They spoke about the boys who said they wanted to be girls and the girls who felt they were meant to be boys, and the medical and surgical interventions that would make them appear as the opposite sex. The clinicians also discussed new procedures for a new type of patient—some of them adolescents—who wanted to be made to look as if they had no sex at all. 
In one of the videos, obtained exclusively by The Free Press, from the 2021 conference of the US Professional Association for Transgender Health, Amy Penkin, a social worker with the Transgender Health Program at the Oregon Health &amp; Science University (OHSU) spoke about one such case. Penkin told the audience about Sky, who she described as an 18-year-old recent high school graduate who was living on his own for the first time.
Penkin explained that Sky expressed a desire to look like “a Barbie down there.” Sky, Penkin said, reported “being asexual, never having had sex, and having no desire to have sex in the future.” Indeed, Sky did “not want to feel any pleasurable sensation and hope[d] removal of all erogenous tissue [would] be possible,” according to Penkin.
Not so long ago, a patient like Sky would have been given a psychological evaluation and offered mental health counseling. But in the evolving world of gender medicine, clinicians now want to help young people like Sky achieve their gender goals.
Penkin explained to fellow professionals that requests for procedures that are “nonbinary” are “growing in number.” But the field is still wedded to binary assumptions. This means that procedures such as “nullification” (surgically leaving patients with no external genitals) or “penile preserving vaginoplasty” (surgically crafting a pseudo-vagina underneath the penis) are not as accessible as they should be.
Penkin said that when confronted with a patient like Sky, existing “research” and “standards of care” are “not enough to meet the needs of our patients, and we need to take it to the next level to really think about how we evolve and match the needs of our patients as their needs are being expressed to us.”</blockquote>
Here is Penkin <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-2327-trump-fights-the-climate-change-cult">speaking</a> at a gathering of a major professional association for transgender health:
<blockquote>This is Sky, who&#8217;s 18 years old. They recently graduated from high school and report living on their own for the first time. We came to deliver this presentation because we recognize that the tools in our system, such as what is evidence-based practice and the research tell us what are the standards of care tell us, that is not enough to meet the needs of our patients and we need to take it to the next level to really think about how we evolve and match the needs of our patients, as their needs are being expressed to us.</blockquote>
That is an amazing statement, that patients express their needs to doctors as though they&#8217;re simply going into the store and buying a cup of coffee, and the doctors are then tasked with fulfilling the needs of their patients.
That is precisely the opposite of how medical science is supposed to work. It is the job of the doctor to diagnose. It is the job of the doctor to tell you about your own biology and what is true and what is false.

But that’s not the way it works in the world of so-called trans medicine. A psychologist named Mair Marsiglio agreed and described doing just that. She spoke about the idea that even people with multiple personality disorder or psychosis should not be barred from mutilating surgery.
The Free Press continued:  
<blockquote>One of the biggest revelations from the recordings is how these clinicians acknowledge performing unproven, seemingly experimental treatments—only it appears there is often no protocol being followed, no formal research being conducted, and no ethics-board approval being sought. These practitioners say their goal is to fulfill the “embodiment” desires of their patients, whatever these may be, and doing this may require “deviat[ing] from guidelines.” </blockquote>
Thus, people get together at conferences and change the guidelines, the standards of care, in order to match what the “patients would like” from these particular “medical practitioners.”
In order to get all this done, what was required was groupthink. British endocrinology consultant Leighton Seal explained that the best way to avoid criticism was to make the decisions as a group:
<blockquote>And therefore, when you&#8217;re doing operations, we have to accept, at some point somebody will regret the surgery they&#8217;ve done. so to allow people to move the field forward. You need to have a support network around you as a clinician so that if that decision is made and that decision is regretted, how did you make that decision process?
So as an individual practitioner, if you make that in isolation, you could be vulnerable to being criticized for doing something that is outside of the norm. Whereas if you have a network around you where a clinical team in concert with the individual has made a decision, you then have a framework to say, “Well, the ethics of this were explored.”</blockquote>
This is all insanity.
Why am I bringing this up? Let&#8217;s be real, conservatives won on this issue because reality was always going to win, even when it was unpopular.

So why does this matter? Because it&#8217;s not just that there are consequences for bad science in the field of trans ideology. There are consequences for everyone.
This is also true in the world of the economy. Evidence has emerged that a major climate change study published in Nature is false.
The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/science/environment/climate-change-study-retraction-nature-454cd61b?mod=hp_lead_pos5">reported</a>:
<blockquote>The research, published last year in the prestigious journal Nature, projected that the world’s economic output would decline 62% by 2100 under a high-carbon emissions scenario. The estimate was much more severe than other forecasts, prompting scrutiny of the underlying data. “We broadly agree with the issues raised, and have made corrections to the underlying economic data and to our methodology to address them,” said study author Leonie Wenz, from the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research in Germany. “These changes are too substantial for a correction of the original article in Nature.”
&#8230; after the study was published, other researchers found that economic data from one country—Uzbekistan—during a short time from 1995 to 1999 had skewed the results. Without Uzbekistan, the 2100 damage forecast fell to 23%, not 62%.</blockquote>
Here is what&#8217;s amazing. The study had already been cited by the time it was pulled by the U.S. Congressional Budget Office, the World Bank, and the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS), a coalition of central banks.
This horrible study was used in order to determine whether banks could invest in certain things.
<blockquote>Central bank models of the economic impacts of climate change could have far-reaching implications. If these models show impacts are going to be much worse than previously thought, regulators could make banks set aside more capital to buffer against potential losses associated with assets exposed to climate change…</blockquote>
This means the banks would have to hold more cash back and not lend it out to other businesses because of the potential risk from climate change.
The study was overtly wrong.
They had to pull it, but it is on the very basis of bad science that many, many decisions are made.
That is why it is a very good thing that the president of the United States will not bow to transgender ideology or climate change extremists.

Billionaire Tom Steyer is hopping into the crowded California gubernatorial race, and he’s already getting attention in the competitive contest.
Steyer unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 and has made a name for himself in the liberal climate activism world. He “self-financed” $342 million in his failed bid, according to Open Secrets.
“The richest people in America think that they earned everything themselves,” he said in his campaign launch video. “Bulls***, man. That’s so ridiculous. There’s a reason everybody comes here to start businesses; because this is the place that invents the future.”
Former Rep. Katie Porter, who’s considered a frontrunner in the race, slammed Steyer’s campaign launch.
“A new billionaire in our race claims he&#8217;ll fight the very industries he got rich helping grow — fossil fuel companies, tobacco, and private immigration detention facilities — at great cost to Californians. I call bulls***,” Porter wrote.
The former congresswoman faced calls to exit the gubernatorial race following a viral interview with CBS News and a resurfaced clip reported by <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2025/10/08/katie-porter-tears-into-staffer-new-video-00598942">Politico</a> where she told a staffer to “get out of my f***ing shot” while recording a video with then-Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm.

“Californians are looking for a Governor who actually understands how a spike in utility bills or an increase in housing costs cripples our families’ budgets. The Washington Free Beacon pointed out Federal Election Commission records in which Steyer donated thousands to Porter’s past congressional campaigns. Porter ran for Senate in 2024 unsuccessfully, as now Sen. Adam Schiff and Republican Steve Garvey advanced to the general election, and she came in a distant third place.
The field in the top-two primary includes Democrats such as Porter, former Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Ramón Villaraigosa, former California State Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, and former California State Controller Betty Yee, among others. On the Republican side, former Fox News host Steve Hilton and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco are in the running.
“You&#8217;re complaining about California&#8217;s ‘cost of living’? Look in the mirror!” Hilton posted in response to Steyer’s announcement. “It&#8217;s your insane &#8216;climate agenda&#8217; that caused the problem!” Hilton’s point is likely to be tested on the campaign trail, as the state is facing mounting concerns about how refinery closures could impact gas prices in the Golden State.

Florida has accused two massive proxy advisor firms of politicizing American retirement accounts by promoting DEI and ESG, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday.  
The suit from Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier accuses Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS) and Glass Lewis of pushing companies to adopt race and sex-based quotas and embrace climate activism. The two firms comprise about 97% of the market for proxy advice in the United States, providing investment managers with guidance and research on how to vote on shareholder proposals. 
“Defendants have used this enormous influence to push their own dogmatic agenda,  one that seeks to require publicly traded companies to strictly adhere to highly controversial—and,  in some cases, illegal policies,” Uthmeier wrote in a copy of the lawsuit obtained by The Daily Wire. 
“Quotas for outright racial balancing, gender ideology that promotes genders beyond male and female, and an insistence that concerns about global climate change should influence every company&#8217;s decision-making are Defendants&#8217; basic requirements,” the suit added. 
Uthmeier&#8217;s suit, filed in the Second Judicial Circuit of Florida, accuses the companies of two counts of violating Florida’s Deceptive and Unfair Trade Practices Act and state antitrust laws. Both firms <a href="https://www.wsj.com/finance/regulation/proxy-advisers-iss-and-glass-lewis-are-facing-antitrust-probes-22f0ff38?gaa_at=eafs&amp;gaa_n=AWEtsqc1i9ZlMDA8f3aZJiR2l7fRxLMEzpcyYRtsfyc4o8X1sQlk3u_hSRE9vvDqiKE%3D&amp;gaa_ts=691f1ec8&amp;gaa_sig=xwAM0c1b63ROAM2TrL-DyCp8Kzu_81NHpUXhlHCKKdp1uc0l_r4sb2vXNv1yUslNLkGqWHiK6ScdxjQHeJ7Tgw%3D%3D">are currently</a> under investigation by the Federal Trade Commission over how they direct clients on social and climate issues. 
Together, both firms work with hundreds of thousands of Florida employees’ retirement plans worth billions, according to the suit.
The suit states that the firms have pushed left-wing ideology by “recommending votes against corporate board members who are not the right gender or do not fall in line and affirmatively voice support for Defendants&#8217; ideological agenda.”
Examples cited in the suit include Glass Lewis providing <a href="https://perma.cc/9JFW-HKEM">guidelines </a>that include recommending against boards with less than one member of “an underrepresented community” on it. It defines “underrepresented” as non-white people or sexual minorities. It will also generally recommend against a board “that fails to provide explicit disclosure concerning the board’s role in overseeing [climate change] issues.”

ISS has adopted similar <a href="https://perma.cc/N9TG-B7X9">guidelines</a>, noting that it will generally vote against companies with no women on the board, against boards with no racial or ethnic diversity, and vote against companies it says have not taken &#8220;minimum steps” to address “climate change” risks. 
“Florida is done allowing two unaccountable foreign-owned private corporations to manipulate shareholder votes behind closed doors,” Uthmeier told The Daily Wire. “ISS and Glass Lewis claim to be neutral advisors, but they use their near-total control of the proxy-voting market to push divisive political mandates that threaten retiree savings, distort corporate governance, and undermine the rule of law. That ends now.”
The suit was supported by Will Hild, the executive director of Consumers’ Research. 
“We will continue to encourage and support aggressive enforcement action until ISS and Glass Lewis stop their abuses and commit to transparency, neutrality, and true accountability to the investors and consumers they are supposed to serve,” he said. 
In August 2023, the House Judiciary launched an <a href="https://judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-subsites/republicans-judiciary.house.gov/files/evo-media-document/letters.pdf">investigation</a> into ISS and Glass Lewis, probing their partnership with climate activist groups and pushing to &#8220;decarbonize&#8221; corporations.

Actor Harrison Ford is not happy that President Trump won&#8217;t buy into climate change alarmism.
The 83-year-old “Indiana Jones” star ripped into the president while speaking to <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/oct/31/harrison-ford-donald-trump-climate-crisis">The Guardian</a> this week as he prepared to receive a conservation leadership award at Chicago’s Field Museum.
“[Trump] doesn’t have any policies, he has whims. It scares the sh** out of me,” Ford told the outlet. “The ignorance, the hubris, the lies, the perfidy. [Trump] knows better, but he’s an instrument of the status quo and he’s making money, hand over fist, while the world goes to hell in a hand basket. It’s unbelievable. I don’t know of a greater criminal in history.”
“I knew it was coming, I have been preaching this stuff for 30 years,” the actor said. “Everything we’ve said about climate change has come true. Why is that not sufficient that it alarms people that they change behaviors? Because of the entrenched status quo.”
Ford’s tirade against Trump continued. “He’s losing ground because everything he says is a lie,” he added. 
The “Star Wars” actor’s comments come just after climate activist Bill Gates admitted that there are bigger problems in the world that need solving before climate initiatives should be addressed.
“Climate change, disease, and poverty are all major problems,” the tech billionaire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/bill-gates-walks-back-climate-doom-it-will-not-lead-to-humanitys-demise">wrote</a> in an essay earlier this week. “We should deal with them in proportion to the suffering they cause.”
The Microsoft co-founder admitted that the Earth’s temperature is not the most important factor for improving life on the planet and said the “doomsday” view of climate change is “wrong.”
“Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise,” Gates wrote.

One of the largest insurance companies in the country is removing commitments to being “anti-racist” and other DEI-related materials from its website as it promises to embrace a culture of meritocracy. 
The Chubb Corporation has deleted or edited numerous webpages in recent weeks to remove information detailing multiple “racial justice” programs and its commitment to “inclusive hiring.” The changes come after The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woke-insurance-ceo-said-bill-barring-men-from-womens-bathrooms-was-a-threat-to-democracy">reported</a> earlier this month on the scale of Chubb’s DEI initiatives and highly partisan comments from its CEO attacking North Carolina over a bill to keep men out of women’s bathrooms. 
Deleted webpages include one called “<a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250617162520/https:/about.chubb.com/our-workforce/racial-justice.html">Advancing Racial Justice</a>,” which detailed various “racial justice” programs at Chubb.
“We believe in being anti-racist because a rejection of racism alone is insufficient. We have a responsibility to do our part – with candor, open minds and a commitment to change,” the company said on the now-deleted page. The page included information on Chubb’s “Race Matters” platform, intended to “facilitate greater consciousness of racism and understanding of the Black experience,” and on “inclusive hiring” practices, which placed a “special emphasis on professionals from underrepresented groups.”
Asked to explain the changes, a spokesman for Chubb, the largest commercial lines insurer in the United States and operating across 54 countries, said they were made to ensure the website “better convey[s]” the company’s culture. 
“We have always strived to be a meritocracy. We made changes to the content on our website to better convey our culture,” a Chubb spokesman told The Daily Wire of the changes.
Many corporations have publicly moved away from DEI in recent years as customers have reacted negatively to corporate leftwing activism. Over the last month, Chubb has faced a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woke-insurance-ceo-said-bill-barring-men-from-womens-bathrooms-was-a-threat-to-democracy">national campaign</a> from conservative groups like Consumers’ Research over some of the leftist policies it once highlighted on its website.  
A number of major corporations, like <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/john-deere-is-latest-company-to-diminish-dei-says-it-wont-join-social-or-cultural-awareness-parades">John Deere</a> and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tractor-supply-reverses-course-backs-out-of-woke-initiatives-following-conservative-backlash">Tractor Supply</a>, have backed away from corporate DEI initiatives since the 2024 election.
Some pages were just edited to remove some information. On its “Rule of Law Fund” <a href="https://about.chubb.com/citizenship/rule-law-fund.html">page</a>, for example, Chubb <a href="https://archive.ph/CbRRA">removed</a> information about $1.1 million in donations it made, in part, to “understand and reduce racial inequities throughout the criminal justice process.”

A video taken down from its YouTube page featured Chubb Corporation CEO Evan Greenberg <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/woke-insurance-ceo-said-bill-barring-men-from-womens-bathrooms-was-a-threat-to-democracy">attacking</a> North Carolina Republicans over a 2016 bill aimed at protecting women’s privacy.
“The rights of individuals, including our personal freedom and right to pursue happiness, are a universal right. We protect them. Actions like those in North Carolina and other states to discriminate against sexual preference and strip citizens of their protections, do not reflect who we are as a nation, and are ultimately, I believe, a threat to democracy,” Greenberg said.
A variety of other DEI-related pages were edited or removed from the webpage. 
This included information on its <a href="https://www.chubb.com/us-en/individuals-families/our-community/chubb-coal-policy.html">commitment</a> to no longer underwriting “the construction and operation of new coal-fired plants or new risks for companies that generate more than 30% of their revenues from coal mining or energy production from coal.”
Other information that was removed focused on programs <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20250815185311/https:/about.chubb.com/our-workforce/advancing-women.html">specifically</a> for women, <a href="https://archive.ph/YVG04">its</a> Global Climate Business Unit, and <a href="https://archive.ph/KabAD#selection-2297.12-2297.106">sponsorship</a> of a DEI festival.
“In our journey to become a more equitable workplace, Chubb has developed a series of accelerator programs around the world designed for women at all stages of their career,” it said on a now-removed page on “Accelerating Opportunities for Women.”

Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has done an about-face on climate change alarmism, recently saying that there are more pressing matters people should be worrying about instead.
The 70-year-old tech billionaire, who has been an outspoken environmental activist for years, said as much in a <a href="https://www.gatesnotes.com/work/accelerate-energy-innovation/reader/helping-the-worlds-poorest-adapt-to-climate-change">&#8220;memo&#8221;</a> published Tuesday titled “Three Tough Truths About Climate.”
&#8220;Climate change, disease, and poverty are all major problems,&#8221; Gates wrote. &#8220;We should deal with them in proportion to the suffering they cause.&#8221;
The businessman admitted that the Earth’s temperature is not the most important factor for improving life on the planet and said the &#8220;doomsday&#8221; view of climate change is “wrong.”

&#8220;Although climate change will have serious consequences — particularly for people in the poorest countries — it will not lead to humanity’s demise,&#8221; Gates wrote. &#8220;This is a chance to refocus on the metric that should count even more than emissions and temperature change: improving lives. Our chief goal should be to prevent suffering, particularly for those in the toughest conditions who live in the world’s poorest countries.&#8221;
Gates added, &#8220;Although climate change will hurt poor people more than anyone else, for the vast majority of them it will not be the only or even the biggest threat to their lives and welfare.&#8221;
He wrote the 17-page analysis ahead of next month’s United Nations climate change conference in Brazil, in hopes of shifting funding away from climate initiatives toward other endeavors he now believes are more important.
Gates insisted that climate change remains a major concern but should be moved lower on the priority list. 
“If you think climate is not important, you won’t agree with the memo. If you think climate is the only cause and apocalyptic, you won’t agree with the memo,” Gates <a href="https://apnews.com/article/bill-gates-climate-change-united-nations-4108f76e746d1e3e13845f33b8ae7007">told</a> reporters of his stance, per Associated Press. “It’s kind of this pragmatic view of somebody who’s, you know, trying to maximize the money and the innovation that goes to help in these poor countries.”

The vast majority of Americans are no longer willing to pay a $1 monthly fee to supposedly help combat climate change, signaling a major shift in attitude from just years ago.
A poll <a href="https://apnorc.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/EPIC-AP-NORC-Press-Release-FINAL-10.22-1.pdf">released</a> on Thursday from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research and the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago (EPIC) found that only 38% of Americans are on board with paying a $1 monthly carbon fee.
Back in 2021, 52% of Americans were willing to pay the supposed climate-fighting fee.
Unsurprisingly, as the hypothetical fee goes up from $1 monthly to $10 or $20, only 3 in 10 Americans are okay with paying up. And only 2 in 10 said they would pay $75 or $100 monthly.
Climate activism has become a key issue for Democrats in recent years. High-profile politicians like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NYC), for example, famously said back in 2019 that the world would end in 12 years if we don&#8217;t drastically address climate change.
“Millennials and people, you know, Gen Z and all these folks that will come after us are looking up and we’re like: ‘The world is gonna end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change and your biggest issue is how are we gonna pay for it?'&#8221; AOC said.

Failed 2024 Democrat presidential candidate Kamala Harris was also a <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/interactive/2023/presidential-candidates-2024-policies-issues/kamala-harris-climate-change/">climate alarmist</a>, calling climate change an existential threat and releasing a $10 trillion climate plan during her 2019 presidential run.
While an increasing number of young Americans now believe that climate change is mostly man-made, Americans in general are just not okay with personally paying any tax or fee to help combat the apparent threat. They are, however, willing to shift payment to energy companies, according to the AP-NORC/EPIC poll.

&#8220;While less than half of Americans support paying a monthly carbon fee on their energy use, 56% support taxing companies for the carbon they emit,&#8221; a press release outlined.
&#8220;About six in 10 Americans say oil and gas companies (62%), the federal government (60%), and large businesses and corporations (58%) bear a great deal or a lot of responsibility. By contrast, 31% say the same about individuals, a drop of 19 percentage points from 50% in 2019,&#8221; the poll found.
Old-school environmental activism, like protecting conservation lands and wildlife, was, however, supported by a vast majority of Americans, at 70%.

When nations face a fiscal emergency they turn to the <a href="https://www.imf.org/en/About/Factsheets/Sheets/2022/IMF-World-Bank-New" target="_blank" rel="noopener">International Monetary Fund (IMF).</a> When they need capital to build roads, energy grids, or water sanitation, they go to the <a href="https://www.imf.org/en/About/Factsheets/Sheets/2022/IMF-World-Bank-New" target="_blank" rel="noopener">World Bank.</a>
Both institutions play essential roles in the international financial system. But Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0094#:~:text=First%2C%20we%20must%20make%20the,deficit%20in%20our%20nation's%20history." target="_blank" rel="noopener">believes</a> “mission creep has knocked these institutions off course.”
Earlier this year, Bessent warned that the IMF and World Bank have drifted from their mandates by devoting time and resources to work on <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0094#:~:text=First%2C%20we%20must%20make%20the,deficit%20in%20our%20nation's%20history." target="_blank" rel="noopener">climate change, gender, and social issues</a>. On Wednesday, he acknowledged recent course corrections and urged both institutions to continue refocusing on their original mandates.
“At a time when countries around the world are tightening their belts, we should expect the same from public institutions that have been built with and supported by taxpayer money from around the world,&#8221; Bessent <a href="https://home.treasury.gov/news/press-releases/sb0280" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> this week ahead of both the IMF and World Bank&#8217;s annual meetings.
He criticized the board’s &#8220;ballooning salaries” and expanding administrative overhead, urging the institutions to impose financial discipline. “Resources must not be siphoned away from the core missions,” he added.
Part of that mission involves refocusing the IMF and World Bank’s relationship with China.
Last week, China sent a letter announcing large-scale export controls taking effect on November 1. President Donald Trump said the export controls would be on “virtually every product they make“ and “affect all countries.” He condemned the policy as a “moral disgrace” and responded with a threat to raise tariffs to 100% on all Chinese imports.
Bessent, echoing Trump’s concerns, urged the IMF and the World Bank to take another look at China.
“The IMF is uniquely positioned to provide bilateral and multilateral economic surveillance that identifies imbalances and risks, facilitates the balanced growth of international trade, and discourages harmful policies.”
Bessent called the IMF to examine China’s policies, focusing their surveillance “on macroeconomic and financial stability” rather than “climate and gender.”
Addressing the World Bank, Bessent pushed for implementing a graduation policy “supporting countries along the way to self-reliance and enabling the bank to concentrate its resources on poorer, less creditworthy countries where its support is most needed and most impactful.”
Bessent specifically named China as a country that should no longer be receiving World Bank assistance, saying it’s time for the institution to “graduate” China and focus its limited resources where support is truly needed.
Bessent’s stance matters. The United States is the largest financial contributor to both institutions, giving it considerable influence over policy direction and voting power.
The Treasury Secretary&#8217;s remarks also mark a sharp change in policy from his predecessor. At the 2024 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, Biden Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen praised the “record high of nearly $75 billion in climate finance to low- and middle-income countries in 2023, a 45 percent increase from 2021.”
“Confronting climate change, of course, remains at the top of our agenda,” she announced. She also supported an expansion of IMF funding through increased quotas.

A global tax on shipping emissions won’t take effect after pressure from the Trump administration to abandon the climate activist-fueled proposal.  
The International Maritime Organization had been set to vote on Friday on adopting a global carbon tax aimed at pushing the shipping industry to stop using fossil fuels. But that vote did not happen after President Donald Trump on Thursday <a href="https://truthsocial.com/@realDonaldTrump/posts/115385308751129485">called</a> for other countries to oppose the tax, saying that the United States would not “tolerate” or “adhere” to the measure. 
Instead, the International Maritime Organization, an agency of the United Nations that regulates shipping, moved Friday to postpone the vote on the tax for a year. 
“Now you have one year, you will continue to work on several aspects of these amendments,” <a href="https://apnews.com/article/shipping-climate-change-carbon-fee-a5f854e7028d08035689db50814a6519">said</a> Arsenio Dominguez, the secretary general of the International Maritime Organization. “You have one year to negotiate and talk and come to consensus.”
The decision was praised by Trump administration officials who spent the week fighting the proposal.

Last week, the Trump administration <a href="https://www.state.gov/releases/office-of-the-spokesperson/2025/10/taking-action-to-defend-america-from-the-uns-first-global-carbon-tax-the-international-maritime-organizations-imo-net-zero-framework-nzf">warned</a> that the tax could increase shipping costs by up to 10% and said that it was considering a number of retaliatory actions for countries that support the measure. These actions included investigating countries pursuing anti-competitive practices, imposing visa restrictions and increasing processing fees, and placing additional port fees and commercial penalties. 
“The United States will be moving to levy these remedies against nations that sponsor this European-led neocolonial export of global climate regulations,” a statement from the Trump administration said. “We will fight hard to protect our economic interests by imposing costs on countries if they support the [Net Zero Framework].”

Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz made it absolutely clear on Thursday that the United States would not support the global carbon tax being pushed by the International Maritime Organization — and President Donald Trump voiced his agreement on the subject.
Waltz addressed the issue with &#8220;Fox &amp; Friends&#8221; host Brian Kilmeade, and he said that the United States was also encouraging other nations to vote &#8220;no&#8221; on the new tax — and that there could be consequences for those that chose to vote in favor of the measure.

&#8220;This is a bigger deal than I think anybody realizes,&#8221; Waltz, a former Florida congressman and Green Beret veteran, told Kilmeade. He went on to say that others within the Trump administration — from Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy to Secretary of State Marco Rubio — were all in agreement that the new tax had to go.
&#8220;They have been loud and clear on this, the United States is a hard no,&#8221; he declared. &#8220;This would essentially put a global tax on everything that is involved in trade and then everything that goes on a ship &#8230; this is trying to drive carbon emissions from shipping to zero.&#8221;

Waltz went on to note that the move would also subsidize certain biofuels — and would greatly benefit China because in order to retrofit ships to use the new fuels, businesses would have to work with Chinese shipyards.
Trump also weighed in on the issue with a post to his Truth Social platform, saying, &#8220;I am outraged that the International Maritime Organization is voting in London this week to pass a global Carbon Tax. The United States will NOT stand for this Global Green New Scam Tax on Shipping, and will not adhere to it in any way, shape, or form. ‘A Hard No’: Mike Waltz Says U.S. Won’t Stand For UN Org’s Global Carbon Tax

Last month, President Donald Trump and Energy Secretary Chris Wright’s Climate Working Group completed its work, and quietly achieved something few expected: they reset the national conversation on climate policy.
For years, Washington’s climate agenda has been dominated by alarmism, junk science, and a revolving cast of “experts” whose warnings are backed not by empirical evidence but the billions of dollars flowing from dark money climate advocacy groups and left-wing billionaires more focused on concentrating power than global temperatures.
The federal government has relied heavily on so-called “climate attribution” studies, which claim to link every hurricane, wildfire, and heatwave to carbon emissions.
These studies are widely criticized, even within the scientific community, for flawed methodology and confirmation bias. Yet policymakers have treated them as gospel, driving expensive and economically damaging regulations. Craven politicians have used them to attempt to condition the American people to believe every storm is the result of energy producers, and the only answer is multi-trillion-dollar energy transitions.
The Climate Working Group ripped that narrative apart. Its report exposed the flimsy assumptions, the overreliance on discredited models, and the tendency to inflate worst-case scenarios while ignoring economic realities. The group didn’t simply question climate orthodoxy; it demanded that science, logic, and reality guide policy — rather than ideology and grant-driven research agendas.

Predictably, the backlash was immediate and loud. Dark-money-funded climate groups with questionable credibility, like the Union of Concerned Scientists and the Environmental Defense Fund, and self-styled “scientists” who have been discredited within peer-reviewed circles, launched predictable attacks, dismissing the report as reckless or even dangerous. They sued to prevent the report from even seeing the light of day.
The rapid, even frantic mobilization to shut this report down told us everything we need to know.
Because this report poked holes and raised questions about the “climate consensus,” it served as an existential threat to an entire constellation of dark money interests, NGO’s, political candidates and groups, and non-profits that rely on Americans believing that every raindrop and gust of wind they experience is actually the fault of the oil and gas companies.
The truth is simple: the group accomplished exactly what it was supposed to do. It recentered the debate on facts, not fear, and reminded policymakers that exaggerated claims of catastrophe do not replace rigorous analysis. And that those with genuine scientific curiosity should not kowtow to a politically driven “consensus” that shuts down questions and intellectual challenge.
Events at Climate Week in New York highlighted just how important this shift has been. Secretary Wright joined David Gelles of The New York Times for a <a href="https://youtu.be/XzkZ-a0UMN8?si=NTNKgD4wEYOaSBhe&amp;t=1304" target="_blank" rel="noopener">discussion</a> on Energy in the Trump administration.
Gelles asked questions using the Left’s normal framing about extreme weather and climate change, and Secretary Wright pushed back forcefully, saying, “These crazy convoluted links &#8230; making weather more extreme, more hurricanes, more intense hurricanes. That’s not what’s in the IPCC reports, it’s not what’s in the data. It’s what the media says, it’s what activists say, it’s what politicians say. It’s not in the data.”
Gelles pushed back: “There’s a ton of attribution science, though. Are you saying that the studies that are showing attribution science that do the actual scientific work to link global temperature rise to specific weather events are not to be trusted?”
“Attribution science is not science,” Wright responded. “You can’t draw a long-term slow trend to a weather event, tornadoes, hurricanes, extremely complicated phenomena. Attribution science is someone reaching for something.”
Thanks to the Climate Working Group, discussions about climate policy can no longer ignore economic costs, energy realities, or the limits of current science. For the first time in years, the debate has been pulled back from ideological extremes and into the light of scrutiny.
Mission accomplished. And if the critics are howling, that’s just proof the Working Group hit the mark.
