A high-profile clean-energy startup is running short on cash and may fail to obtain a $1 billion government loan promised by the Biden-Harris administration.
Monolith, a company that makes a tire-strengthening material called carbon black and ammonia for fertilizer using a low-emissions process, is running out of the money it needs to expand its facilities, The Wall Street Journal <a href="https://www.wsj.com/business/energy-oil/a-high-profile-clean-energy-startup-is-running-short-on-cash-e05d28ff" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a>. Part of the problem is the rising costs for the company’s planned expansion, which is a key part of the company’s future.
The company is now in danger of running out of cash by the end of the year, according to company documents reviewed by WSJ.
Some existing investors are expected to give Monolith more than $100 million to keep it going, but it needs several hundred million to get the company a $1 billion loan from the Biden-Harris administration.
Of course, the government could still fund the loan even if Monolith doesn’t meet requirements, either in part or under different conditions. And given how Democrats regularly fund green-energy projects, it’s likely Monolith will still get its massive government loan.
Monolith Chief Executive Rob Hanson told WSJ that he expects to start raising the needed cash for the expansion early next year, and a government Loan Programs Office spokeswoman told the outlet that Monolith is making progress on the milestones it needs to obtain the government loan.
The deal to give Monolith a $1 billion government loan was made in December 2021 and was the first commitment from the Energy Department’s Loan Programs Office under Jigar Shah, himself a former clean-energy entrepreneur, the WSJ reported. Shah made a name for himself, working on green energy programs and advocating for solutions to climate change, both major leftist policies that have seen advocates become extremely wealthy without showing meaningful results.

Once Monolith received the government loan deal, it was able to raise more than $300 million the next summer from investors – including TPG and Decarbonization Partners, which is owned by BlackRock and Temasek in Singapore. In total, the company has raised around $725 million in equity.
As WSJ reported, Monolith is facing the same problems as similar companies, including a high-valued battery startup in Europe that has had to cut jobs and halt a factor expansion because people aren’t buying electric cars. The outlet noted that several climate startups have filed for bankruptcy in the past few months.
It’s similar to the green tech boom and failure of former President Barack Obama’s first term when his administration handed out billions to green energy companies that either filed for bankruptcy or didn’t live up to expectations. The most famous example of Obama’s presidency was Solyndra, which received half a billion government loans before <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/solyndra-politics-infused-obama-energy-programs/2011/12/14/gIQA4HllHP_story.html">filing for bankruptcy</a> in 2011.

Some of the country&#8217;s biggest liberal foundations are behind a plan to inject climate hysteria into newsrooms across the country by encouraging journalists in all fields to employ left-wing tactics and talking points when reporting on climate change.
The Climate Blueprint for Media Transformation was born out of a 2023 climate conference sponsored by the Solutions Journalism Network and Covering Climate Now. The Solutions Journalism Network is funded by a who&#8217;s-who of left-wing foundations, including the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, the Ford Foundation, the Bill &amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Hewlett Foundation. The Gates Foundation has been instrumental in the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/whos-really-behind-the-war-on-meat-how-bill-gates-is-quietly-transforming-americas-food-industry-from-within">war on meat</a>, while the Hewlett Foundation has a track record of working to influence <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-associated-press-once-viewed-as-neutral-works-with-pro-left-foundations">reporters</a>.
Their influence can be seen in the Climate Blueprint, a 14-part guide for how journalists should cover climate change. Each section of the document is written by a different journalist or activist, and covers subjects ranging from &#8220;Community Engagement&#8221; to &#8220;Climate Justice.&#8221;
<a href="https://climateblueprint.org/">The Climate Blueprint</a> opens with a section called &#8220;The Everything Story,&#8221; in which Covering Climate Now deputy director Andrew McCormick <a href="https://climateblueprint.org/article/the-everything-story/">encourages</a> journalists to &#8220;take bold action&#8221; and make stories on &#8220;every beat,&#8221; including crime and sports, about climate change.
Covering Climate Now co-founder Kyle Pope echoed his colleague&#8217;s advice in the Columbia Journalism Review <a href="https://www.cjr.org/covering_climate_now/questions-climate-journalism-climate-blueprint-media-transformation.php" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Monday,</a> complaining that the Kardashian family received more coverage than rising ocean temperatures. Pope also claimed that climate change has begun to be covered only “very recently,&#8221; and urged journalists to step up and “tell the most important story on Earth.”
In the Blueprint&#8217;s <a href="https://climateblueprint.org/article/community-engagement/">section</a>, on &#8220;Community Engagement,&#8221; &#8220;India Currents&#8221; audience engagement editor Prachi Singh says that &#8220;reporters need to shift from chasing deadlines to meaningfully connecting&#8221; with &#8220;women, people of color, Indigenous peoples, the LGBTQIA+ community,&#8221; and other groups Singh says are more affected by the &#8220;climate crisis.&#8221;
Investigative reporter Amy Westervelt <a href="https://climateblueprint.org/article/myths-and-disinformation/">explicitly urges</a> journalists to paint anyone involved with the fossil fuel industry as a villain, urging reporters to find universities that take money from energy companies and build relationships with &#8220;one professor who doesn’t particularly like the arrangement,&#8221; presumably to have him criticize his employer.
On the flip side, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Jennifer Oldham <a href="https://climateblueprint.org/article/the-movement-is-the-story/">encourages</a> reporters to &#8220;put in the time to gain activists’ trust,&#8221; noting that &#8220;validation is paramount&#8221; and offering tips for reporters to &#8220;best cover climate campaigns in order to give them the weight they deserve.&#8221;
One such tip: &#8220;Be intentional with your language.&#8221;
&#8220;Do you call an event a &#8216;demonstration; or a &#8216;riot&#8217;?&#8221; Oldham asks. &#8220;Words matter. Calling an encounter a &#8216;violent clash with police&#8217; criminalizes demonstrators without offering a comparable criticism of law enforcement’s actions.&#8221;
The Climate Blueprint may call for reporters to go all-in on the climate crisis. But it also notes that doing so could be traumatic for journalists.
“Leadership at the publication has taken thoughtful steps to lighten the workload in summer, when heat-driven extreme weather — from wildfires to hurricanes — worsens,” Yessenia Funes, &#8220;a New York-based queer Latina journalist,&#8221; writes in the <a href="https://climateblueprint.org/article/mental-health-and-climate-trauma/">Blueprint</a>. “By getting ahead on stories during the lull of winter and spring, the team isn’t overwhelmed by the onslaught of tragedy after summer tragedy.”
“Ultimately, climate and environmental reporters can’t carry this burden alone,” Funes adds. “It is incumbent on the industry to take the time to build resources professionals urgently need — including access to high-quality health care and flexible work schedules that give journalists the time they need to pause and reflect on the stories they’re responsible for sharing and the emotions they’re silently carrying.”
The push to inject more hysteria into reporting comes amid mounting evidence that the warnings about the climate crisis have been overblown. The Washington Post this month <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-environment/2024/09/19/earth-temperature-global-warming-planet/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">published</a> a chart showing the Earth’s current mean surface temperature is actually around the lowest it has been in the past 485 million years.
This year also marks the deadline for the Pentagon&#8217;s 2004 <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2004/feb/22/usnews.theobserver" target="_blank" rel="noopener">predictions</a> in a report to President George W. Bush that in 20 years, climate change would wreak havoc on the world, turning Great Britain &#8220;Siberian&#8221; and leading to nuclear conflict, drought, and famine.
None of those predictions have come to pass.

Vice President Kamala Harris has abandoned yet another leftwing policy she previously supported, this time on plastic straws and climate change.
When Harris ran for president in 2020, she expressed support for banning plastic straws.
&#8220;I think we should,&#8221; Harris <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZF9yYdhyV4" target="_blank" rel="noopener">responded</a> when asked whether she would ban plastic straws at a 2019 CNN town hall focused on climate change.
On Thursday, however, a Harris campaign official said the Democratic nominee no longer supports such a ban.
&#8220;She doesn&#8217;t support banning plastic straws,&#8221; the campaign official <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/09/05/kamala-harris-plastic-straw-ban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">told</a> Axios.

&#8220;She cast the tie-breaking vote on the most consequential legislation to combat climate change and create clean energy jobs in history, and as President, she is going to be focused on expanding on that progress,&#8221; the official said.
&#8220;She joked even then about how crappy paper straws are and the need to come up with better eco-friendly alternatives,&#8221; the Harris campaign official added.
Harris has reversed a slew of positions and even adopted some that were first embraced by former President Donald Trump&#8217;s campaign since becoming the de facto Democratic nominee for president in July.
On Monday, Harris <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/kamala-swipes-yet-another-trump-policy-this-time-about-steel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> she would keep U.S. Steel under domestic ownership during a campaign stop in Pittsburgh. Back in January, Trump said he would block the sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon Steel, Japan’s largest steelmaker.
Harris also blindsided Democrats last month when she adopted Trump’s viral “no tax on tips” proposal, announcing that she supported eliminating taxes on service workers’ tips.
Trump supporters had promoted the policy by writing “no tax on tips” on restaurant receipts to encourage service workers to vote for Trump. Trump himself <a href="https://www.foxbusiness.com/fox-news-politics/trump-drops-tip-philly-cheesesteak-restaurant-possible-vp-name-floated-crowd-interaction" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> the message on a receipt when he tipped $500 during a visit to a Philadelphia cheesesteak restaurant.
The Harris campaign also announced Friday that she supports a $6,000 child tax credit. That announcement came just days after Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), Trump’s running mate, said he would support doubling the child tax credit to $5,000.
She has also <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/09/05/kamala-harris-plastic-straw-ban" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reversed</a> her stance on Medicare for All and mandatory gun buyback programs, her campaign saying she no longer supports those proposals.
Harris also <a href="https://www.politico.com/news/2024/08/29/kamala-harris-cnn-interview-00176785" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reversed</a> another energy position, saying she no longer wants to ban fracking, something she supported in 2019.
Her campaign has also <a href="https://www.axios.com/2024/09/04/kamala-harris-campaign-ev-mandate" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dodged</a> the issue of electric vehicle mandates, refusing to say whether she wants to require car makers to build only electric or hydrogen vehicles by 2035, something she supported during her 2020 campaign.

“Cowardly hiding behind campaign staff statements tells us all we need to know: if elected, Kamala Harris will do nothing but hide from major decisions,” Turner said.
Broadly, Harris has been light on details about her policy agenda this election cycle, with critics noting that her official campaign website still does not lay out her policies.

One of the most basic assumptions about climate change that you&#8217;re told to accept is that, if you give the government enough power and make enough personal sacrifices, you can help change the weather. You can make natural disasters less likely. You can save beaches and endangered species and even entire countries. All you need to do is pay more in taxes to fund more government bureaucracy, and give up your car and your gas stove and airline travel and maybe your entire livelihood. And then everything will be fine.
There&#8217;s no other country on Earth that&#8217;s internalized this way of thinking more than our neighbor to the north, Canada. They&#8217;ve declared a &#8220;national climate emergency.&#8221; They have a constantly-increasing national tax on carbon, which raises the cost of living for pretty much every household in the country. They&#8217;ve banned plastic straws. They&#8217;ve shut down oil and gas permits off their Pacific coast. If you&#8217;re an insomniac and you pull up a video of a debate in the Canadian parliament to help you sleep, there&#8217;s a good chance they&#8217;ll be debating climate change in some way or another.
So how&#8217;s all that working out for Canada? What exactly have all of these taxes and regulations accomplished, aside from hamstringing Canada&#8217;s economy for the past decade? Surely we can assume that, at the very least, Canada&#8217;s carbon emissions are much lower as a result of all of this government bureaucracy. After all, Canada&#8217;s not even a top-20 country by population. Their GDP barely ranks in the top-10. It shouldn&#8217;t be hard for them to rank relatively low on the list of global carbon emitters, especially since they&#8217;ve been trying so hard and punishing their citizens so much.
As it turns out, however, Canada is currently one of the biggest carbon emitters on the planet. They&#8217;re setting new records in the wrong direction. They&#8217;re adding more of that dreaded carbon into the atmosphere than countries three times their size. And it&#8217;s all because of a series of wildfires last year that the Canadian government clearly could not control. Watch:

All told, the 2023 wildfires contributed more than four times as much carbon into the atmosphere as everything else that Canada did last year, put together. So the plastic straw bans and the taxes and industry-crushing regulations were completely undone, four times over, by these wildfires.
If you check in with the experts, of course they&#8217;ll tell you that the wildfires were only so severe because of climate change. Supposedly the one-degree rise in reported global average temperature from 2022 to 2023 could be the reason the wildfires burned more of Canada than any other wildfire season in recorded history. Therefore, we need to redouble our efforts to ban fossil fuels and so on. That&#8217;s the line they&#8217;re going with.
As MIT Technology Review <a href="https://www.technologyreview.com/2024/08/28/1103186/canada-wildfire-emissions/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">put it</a>: 
<blockquote>Fires are part of natural, healthy ecosystems, and burns on their own don’t necessarily represent a disaster for climate change. After a typical fire season, a forest begins to regrow, capturing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as it does so. This continues a cycle in which carbon moves around the planet. &#8230; While climate change doesn’t directly spark any one fire, researchers have traced hot, dry conditions that worsen fires to the effects of human-caused climate change. The extreme fire conditions in eastern Canada were over twice as likely because of climate change.</blockquote>
The MIT Technology Review concludes with this: 
<blockquote>It was already clear that we need to stop emissions from power plants, vehicles, and a huge range of other clearly human activities to address climate change. Last year’s wildfires should increase the urgency of that action.</blockquote>
What&#8217;s striking about explanations like these is that they conveniently absolve the government of all responsibility for managing the forests, which is the single most direct way to prevent wildfires from spreading out of control like they did last year. And even the Canadian government admits that. I went on the website of Canada&#8217;s National Resources Department and found that, in addition to blaming fossil fuels, they acknowledged that they <a href="https://natural-resources.canada.ca/simply-science/canadas-record-breaking-wildfires-2023-fiery-wake-call/25303" target="_blank" rel="noopener">could do more</a> to prevent wildfires from spreading: 
<blockquote>As wildfire risks will continue to intensify as the climate warms, Canada needs to &#8230; adapt fire management and mitigation strategies. There are different ways to manage wildfire risk, including controlled burns, revised forestry guidelines, and procedures to manage fuel around communities and infrastructure. It’s a balance of these techniques that can help deal with future challenges.</blockquote>
One scientist with the Canadian Forest Services put it this way: 
<blockquote>A changing climate means a proactive approach must be taken. Studies like this can offer important lessons to be better prepared for the next time a devastating event like this occurs.</blockquote>
They don&#8217;t mention that preventing arson is another way to stop these fires, even though that&#8217;s true as well. While the majority of these fires were apparently caused by lightning or some other natural event, there was at least one guy who pleaded <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/jan/16/canada-wildfires-conspiracy-man-pleads-guilty-arson" target="_blank" rel="noopener">guilty</a> to arson for setting more than a dozen separate fires in Canada last year. But even if you set that aside, there&#8217;s a glaringly obvious solution here, which Canada&#8217;s government acknowledges. And that solution is for the Canadian government to do a better job preventing and containing wildfires by improving their first management capabilities.

That brings me to the broader lesson from this disaster in Canada, which is that the government, in general, should focus on doing basic things competently. They shouldn&#8217;t set out to save the planet with complicated carbon cap schemes and climate emergencies, which is what Canada is doing. Preventing and containing forest fires is a very tangible and straightforward responsibility for the government. When you get the basics right, then very often you don&#8217;t need the more convoluted schemes at all.
Not that a convoluted scheme to control the weather makes any sense in the first place, because we actually have very little control over our environment. We don&#8217;t have the capacity to &#8220;fight climate change&#8221; in the way they&#8217;re suggesting. All of the climate change activism in the world can’t change the fact that forests go up in flames all over the world every year, as the MIT Technology Review admitted. And volcanoes erupt, too — like the one I <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/climate-alarmists-panic-over-heat-wave-turns-out-it-was-caused-by-a-volcano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">talked about</a> last year that drove temperature changes all over the world. Remember that? The eruption sent 40 trillion gallons of seawater into the stratosphere. Researchers called it an “unprecedented water vapor injection&#8221; that trapped a lot of heat — and that may have contributed significantly to global warming. No one was responsible for that eruption. It was a natural event. And sometimes those happen, and we have to accept that they happen.

But there are no indications that the Canadian government is going to accept that they can&#8217;t control the weather, or that they&#8217;re seriously going to revise their forest management or take any responsibility whatsoever. Instead, predictably, they&#8217;re turning the wildfires into yet another opportunity to harp on racial grievances and divide their country even more. 
True North <a href="https://tnc.news/2024/08/28/muslims-indigenous-wildfires-racism-colonialism/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reports</a> this week: 
<blockquote>The Public Health Agency of Canada wants to review the way wildfire evacuations are conducted because they supposedly disproportionately impact minorities. Part of this impact is that evacuating people from First Nations communities traumatizes Indigenous people due to &#8216;colonialism&#8217; and the history of residential schools. A rapid review released by the agency in July included an &#8216;intersectional analysis&#8217; arguing that wildfires disproportionally impacted First Nations groups, minorities, women and non-binary people.</blockquote>
Yes, they&#8217;ve turned their worst wildfire season on record into an opportunity to complain once again about &#8220;non-binary people.&#8221; In the face of an actual, concrete problem — forests burning down and people dying — the Canadian government is worried about a small and highly narcissistic subset of its population with an imagined identity. 
Here&#8217;s a couple of lines from the Canadian government&#8217;s report to give you some idea how unhinged the country has become: 
<blockquote>The impact of wildfires on Indigenous Peoples is influenced by colonialism and has forced many Indigenous Peoples to live in isolation or in communities that are isolated from the rest of society. &#8230; The evacuation measures conducted in Indigenous communities served as traumatic reminders of being taken away to residential schools and/or the Sixties Scoop as some were forced onto buses and separated from family.</blockquote>
Not that you needed it, but this report is your admission from the Canadian government that they don&#8217;t actually care about climate change or preventing wildfires. Their only concern is to preserve and expand their power at every available opportunity. And they&#8217;ve determined that dividing people with crude racial guilt is the best way to do that.
That&#8217;s why Canada — for all its promises to save the world from carbon emissions — is now one of the single biggest carbon emitters on the planet. It&#8217;s a perfect illustration for why no one, anywhere in the world, should ever trust politicians who say they can control the weather, if only you give them a little more power and influence. They&#8217;ll happily take the power and influence; that&#8217;s a guarantee. And then, as your country is burning down around you, they won&#8217;t do anything about it. Instead, they&#8217;ll call you a racist. They&#8217;ll demand even more power to fight &#8220;climate change.&#8221; And then, before you know it, you&#8217;ll wake up one day and you&#8217;re living in a country a lot like Canada. And by that point, it&#8217;ll be too late to do anything about it. Unless you&#8217;re an indigenous nonbinary shaman, no one will care what you think.
If Canada serves any purpose whatsoever, it&#8217;s to provide cautionary tales like this. We can either pay attention and accept that there are some things we can&#8217;t control. Or we can choose to make the problems we do have much, much worse.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has a track record of supporting aggressive <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/fossil-fuels" target="_blank" rel="noopener">anti-fossil fuel</a> energy policies over the course of his political career.
Walz has supported policies such as cap-and-trade and clean energy mandates over his career as a U.S. House representative and in his time as governor of the state of Minnesota. Some of Walz’s most aggressive positions on energy have come in the past few years as Walz has led his state in a California-style makeover of its energy policies.
“If you like the record prices and sky-high inflation delivered by the Biden-Harris energy agenda, you’re going to love Tim Walz,” said Daniel Turner, founder and executive director for Power The Future. “As Governor, Tim Walz based his agenda on the failed California model which may endear him to Kamala Harris, but not to struggling families. Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote for the failed Inflation Reduction Act, and in picking Tim Walz, it looks like she wants just another green rubber stamp.”
Walz began his career in government in 2007, getting elected to represent a rural Minnesota district in the U.S. House of Representatives. In 2019, Walz left the House to take the governor’s seat. He was reelected as Minnesota’s governor in 2022. Here are a few of Walz’s most controversial stances on energy and climate policy over the course of his career:
Cap-and-Trade
Just two years into his role as a U.S. House representative, Walz, under pressure from the Obama White House, voted in support of the 2009 Waxman-Markey cap-and-trade bill. The bill passed the House, but died in the Senate, leaving Democrats from moderate districts to defend the unpopular legislation.
Walz later downplayed his support for the climate legislation by saying he never expected cap-and-trade, which refers to the creation of a system of emissions credits to trade and cap the overall amount of emissions, to be a part of the final bill.

&#8220;I think many of us, Collin included, [are] not altogether comfortable with the cap-and-trade mechanism, but there were so many other things in [the bill] that went the right way,” Walz <a href="https://www.startribune.com/walz-defends-cap-and-trade-vote-says-bill-was-likely-to-change/99954784">said</a> of the legislation during his reelection bid in 2010. “I never thought that the final version I would vote on would look anything like it, but it’s to move it forward.”
The bill preceded a wave of Democrats exoding the House after losing seats to the GOP in 2010. Walz was one of a few Democrats to hold on to a largely agricultural district.
Putting California in the Driver&#8217;s Seat of Minnesota’s Car Industry
In 2021, Walz <a href="https://apnews.com/article/technology-government-and-politics-business-environment-and-nature-minnesota-1808afe5d06edd7127b0566c29850915">embraced</a> California-style emissions standards for Minnesota’s car industry. The governor’s administration used executive rule-making authorities to tie Minnesota’s emissions standards to California’s.
The practical impact of the rulemaking is to force Minnesota car manufacturers and dealers to stock more electric vehicles for purchase, regardless of demand for them by consumers. Minnesota’s car industry leaders expressed anger over the new rules at the time, as well as Republican legislators who felt that Walz’s administration had abused his authority to cram down the rules.
“It puts California bureaucrats in charge of our industry here in Minnesota,” Scott Lambert, president of the Minnesota Automobile Dealers Association, said at the time. “The state has no ability to modify or amend these rules.”
Republican Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka said in a statement: “His emergency powers may be over but his ego trip is not, and it looks like ‘One Minnesota’ is just ‘Walz’s Minnesota.’”
Purging Fossil Fuels From Minnesota’s Grid
Walz signed legislation in 2023 <a href="https://mn.gov/commerce/news/?id=17-563384">committing</a> Minnesota’s utility companies to drawing 100% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2040. In signing the law, Walz cited the threat from “climate change.”
“Climate change impacts lives and livelihoods in every corner of our state,” he said in a statement at the time. “Minnesota will continue to lead the way on combatting climate change and we’ll create clean energy jobs in the process.”

“<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Twisters</a>” blew away opening weekend box office expectations, bringing in a whopping $80.5 million.
Early projections estimated that the action flick <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">sequel</a> to the 1996 movie “Twister” would earn between $40 million and $50 million, with some guessing high at around $70 million, per <a href="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/twisters-whips-up-record-box-office-opening-1235953762/">The Hollywood Reporter</a>. But audiences flocked to see the movie beginning on July 19, leading to a record-breaking opening weekend for any natural disaster film.
That record was previously held by “The Day After Tomorrow” (2004), which brought in $68.44 during its first weekend.
The massive success gave theaters a much-needed boost after a slow start to the year and a string of box office disappointments. “Twisters” has the third-highest opening of the year, THR noted.

“Twisters” follows Kate Cooper (Daisy Edgar-Jones) as she attempts to test a new type of tornado tracking system and forges a partnership with Tyler Owens (Glen Powell), a popular storm chaser who documents his experiences on social media. The movie currently has a 77% critic score and 92% audience score on review aggregator <a href="https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/twisters">Rotten Tomatoes</a>.
Despite the movie&#8217;s subject matter of dangerous tornadoes, filmmaker Lee Isaac Chung told CNN that the film isn’t meant to preach or push<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/climate-change"> climate change</a> hysteria.
“I just wanted to make sure that with the movie, we don’t ever feel like (it) is putting forward any message,” he told the outlet, as The Daily Wire recently <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/twisters-director-explains-why-hes-not-pushing-climate-change-propaganda-or-preaching-a-message">reported</a>. “I just don’t feel like films are meant to be message-oriented.”

The director of the new “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/movies">Twisters</a>” movie explained why he chose not to make the film a statement on climate change.
The summer blockbuster, a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/entertainment">sequel</a> to the 1996 hit action film &#8220;Twister,&#8221; features a group of storm chasers coming in close contact with deadly tornadoes in central Oklahoma. Director Lee Isaac Chung told <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/16/entertainment/twisters-film-interviews-climate-change/index.html">CNN</a> that the film isn’t meant to preach.
“I just wanted to make sure that with the movie, we don’t ever feel like (it) is putting forward any message,” he told the outlet. “I just don’t feel like films are meant to be message-oriented.”

So far, “Twisters” has received mostly positive critical reviews ahead of its July 19 release. It currently has a 77% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with one reviewer calling it an “entertaining, thrilling blockbuster.”
“With its peppy cast, streamlined story and about a bazillion pixels’ worth of VFX cyclones to sweep you back in your seat, it’s a fun and refreshingly old-school night at the pictures,” the Time Out reviewer <a href="https://www.timeout.com/movies/twisters-review-2024">wrote</a>. 
Film star Glen Powell discussed his connection to the prequel starring Helen Hunt and the late Bill Pullman, calling it “a movie that obviously we all care about.”
&#8220;I think that&#8217;s made this thing even more meaningful,&#8221; the 35-year-old actor <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/glen-powell-says-making-twisters-was-emotionally-meaningful-thanks-to-relationship-with-bill-paxton-110028611.html">said</a>, per Yahoo Entertainment. &#8220;[Twister] is a movie that really meant a lot to me as a kid, you know, growing up in Texas, it&#8217;s a movie that felt very &#8230; just very much a story of kind of the community I grew up around and the people I grew up around.&#8221;

At the time, temperatures in the nation’s capital had sunk below freezing.
Inhofe called climate change a “hoax” and frequently sounded off against the global warming narrative, arguing that human activity does not cause major temperature changes.
He chaired the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee for two years, during which time he challenged the climate change narrative in favor of what he called &#8220;sound science.&#8221;
Inhofe fiercely criticized the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), at one point <a href="https://archive.ph/20110505010803/http://www.tulsaworld.com/news/article.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comparing</a> the agency to a &#8220;Gestapo bureaucracy.&#8221;
During a floor speech in 2003, Inhofe promised to &#8220;expose the most powerful, most highly financed lobby in Washington, the far left environmental extremists.&#8221;
&#8220;Wake up, America. With all the hysteria, all the fear, all the phony science, could it be that manmade global warming is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people? I believe it is,&#8221; Inhofe <a href="https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CREC-2003-07-28/html/CREC-2003-07-28-pt1-PgS10012.htm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> during his remarks, which lasted for two hours.
&#8220;And if we allow these detractors of everything that has made America great, those ranging from the liberal Hollywood elitists to those who are in it for the money, if we allow them to destroy the foundation, the greatness of the most highly industrialized nation in the history of the world, then we don&#8217;t deserve to live in this one nation under God,&#8221; he said.
Some of Inhofe&#8217;s staffers went on to serve in the EPA during the Trump administration, where they continued to work to roll back excessive environmental regulations.
Inhofe was reviled by climate change activists and others, many of whom celebrated his death on social media on Tuesday, making jokes about snowballs in hell.
&#8220;I hope he has fun finding out how fast snowballs melt in hell,&#8221; one X user <a href="https://x.com/kendallybrown/status/1810692474177794198" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a>.

Inhofe was the longest-serving senator from Oklahoma and was in office for 29 years from 1994 until he retired last year.

Inhofe passed away on Tuesday, July 9, after suffering a stroke. He was 89.
Inhofe&#8217;s death was confirmed by former Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Andrew Wheeler, a former Inhofe staffer.

As chair of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Inhofe was a vocal critic of over-the-top environmental regulation. Some of his staffers went on to be influential in environmental policy in the Trump administration&#8217;s EPA.
Inhofe was friendly with former California Sen. Barbara Boxer, a staunch liberal Democrat, despite their differences. The two worked together on several major highway and water infrastructure bills.
Inhofe was the longest-serving senator from Oklahoma and was in office from 1994 to 2023.
He retired last year after 29 years in the Senate. Prior to his Senate career, he was a congressman from Oklahoma from 1987 to 1994. Before being elected to the federal government, he was mayor of Tulsa for six years and a member of the state House and then the state Senate.
In his 20s, Inhofe was drafted into the Army and served about a year.

Several climate <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/protesters" target="_blank" rel="noopener">protesters</a> briefly disrupted the PGA Tour&#8217;s Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, on Sunday.
Video posted to social media showed the demonstrators run onto the 18th green and release a red or white powdery substance as players watched.
The Associated Press <a href="https://apnews.com/article/travelers-championship-intruders-18th-hole-police-bc3e9408e9417b8520fe866795761fe2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> the event was delayed for about five minutes as police intervened and the crowd heckled the activists.

Images from the venue showed that some of the demonstrators wore a white shirt that read &#8220;NO GOLF ON A DEAD PLANET.&#8221;
A climate group called Extinction Rebellion took responsibility for the incident, <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/23/sport/protesters-disrupt-travelers-championship/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">according to</a> CNN.
Cromwell police said each protester was charged with first-degree criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass, and breach of peace.
ESPN <a href="https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/40415755/pga-tour-travelers-delayed-protesters-storm-18th-green" target="_blank" rel="noopener">noted</a> that the protesters were released on a bond of $5,000 and are scheduled to appear in court on July 1.
The PGA Tour <a href="https://www.courant.com/2024/06/23/final-round-at-travelers-championship-disrupted-by-climate-protesters-on-18th-green/#:~:text=The%20PGA%20Tour%20released%20a,damage%20to%20the%2018th%20green." target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> the powder was removed with no damage to the green and thanked Cromwell police for their &#8220;quick and decisive action.&#8221;
<a href="https://www.cbssports.com/golf/rankings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">First-ranked</a> golfer Scottie Scheffler, who ended up winning the event, said players were <a href="https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/40415755/pga-tour-travelers-delayed-protesters-storm-18th-green" target="_blank" rel="noopener">&#8220;grateful&#8221;</a> that law enforcement responded so fast.
&#8220;When something like that happens, you don&#8217;t really know what&#8217;s happening, so it can kind of rattle you a little bit,&#8221; he said.
Scheffler added that he and a fellow golfer, Tom Kim, &#8220;both tried to calm each other down so we could give it our best shot there on 18.&#8221;
Akshay Bhatia, another participant in the championship, <a href="https://www.espn.com/golf/story/_/id/40415755/pga-tour-travelers-delayed-protesters-storm-18th-green" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> he was &#8220;scared&#8221; for his life as he, too, did not know what was happening.
&#8220;But thankfully, the cops were there and kept us safe, because that&#8217;s, you know, that&#8217;s just weird stuff,&#8221; he said.
Climate activists have made headlines for vandalizing monuments, works of art, and more in places around the world.
Last week, protesters demonstrating against fossil fuels <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/climate-activists-vandalize-stonehenge-with-orange-paint" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spray-painted</a> Stonehenge in the United Kingdom with an orange substance.
Extinction Rebellion <a href="https://www.cnn.com/2024/06/23/sport/protesters-disrupt-travelers-championship/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> in a statement that the PGA protest was meant to highlight &#8220;the worldwide danger of climate breakdown.&#8221;
Noting golf is &#8220;heavily reliant on good weather,&#8221; the group said fans should &#8220;understand better than most the need for strong, immediate climate action.&#8221;

Here&#8217;s a little ancient history that&#8217;s suddenly become relevant again. 39 years ago this month, just ahead of the summer solstice, the Battle of the Beanfield took place in Wiltshire, England. This wasn&#8217;t a &#8220;battle&#8221; in the traditional military sense. It was a violent confrontation between a convoy of around 600 New Age hippies, and roughly a thousand police officers. 
The police officers were there to enforce an injunction preventing the hippies from holding a festival at Stonehenge. That injunction was necessary because, just one year earlier, around 100,000 hippies had — as hippies tend to do — caused tens of thousands of dollars in property damage to trees, fences and several archeological artifacts in the area, including Stonehenge itself.
So, in 1985, the authorities understandably wanted to prevent any more hippie carnage from being inflicted on Stonehenge. They set up a roadblock several miles away to turn the &#8220;New Age travelers&#8221; away. That&#8217;s when, according to the BBC, &#8220;Police said they came under attack, being pelted with lumps of wood, stones and even petrol bombs.&#8221; 
Of course, to this day, the hippies maintain the police were the aggressors. That&#8217;s probably not true, but it certainly appears that the police officers used significant force once mayhem broke out. At one point, the police reportedly threw fire extinguishers and stones at the hippies to keep them from fleeing. In any event, ultimately, two dozen people were hospitalized, and more than 500 hippies were arrested. By most accounts, the Battle of the Beanfield marked the single largest mass arrest in the history of England, at least since World War II.
I mention the Battle of the Beanfield because it illustrates a couple of things. First of all, it demonstrates an obvious point, which is that the use of force by police officers does indeed deter lawlessness. You don’t have to endorse all of the tactics the police used that day in order to see that. In the years after the Battle of the Beanfield, there were still some hippies who tried to throw a festival at Stonehenge for the summer solstice, but it was nothing like what happened in 1985. For the most part, the hippies got the message loud and clear.
The other important takeaway is that, for whatever reason, Stonehenge has long been an object of fixation for antisocial, anti-civilization, anti-human weirdos. Most likely, the interest stems from the mystique of the whole construction. Stonehenge was constructed more than 5,000 years ago without the benefit of the wheel, and it&#8217;s still unclear to archaeologists exactly how the builders pulled that off — or even who exactly the builders were. It&#8217;s one of the most impressive monuments ever built in human history, so it kind of makes sense that listless, uninteresting people would latch onto Stonehenge in a desperate attempt to imbue their own lives with more meaning.
That brings us to the events that took place at Stonehenge yesterday. 
A couple of vandals associated with the group &#8220;Just Stop Oil&#8221; — one aged 73 and the other aged 21 — charged towards Stonehenge and began blanketing it with some kind of orange powder paint. Watch:

As you can see, it fell to a tourist to stop these two people from defacing Stonehenge. There were no police officers nearby to immediately detain them, so a random guy on vacation had to step up to preserve one of the most famous structures in the entire world. We&#8217;ve seen this again and again. When vandals <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/us/national-archives-rotunda-evacuated-climate-activists-dump-pink-powder-case-holding-us-constitution" target="_blank" rel="noopener">dumped</a> pink powder on the case containing the U.S. Constitution at the National Archives Rotunda in February, no security guards lifted a finger to stop them. Late last year, activists with Just Stop Oil were able to <a href="https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/oct/14/just-stop-oil-activists-throw-soup-at-van-goghs-sunflowers" target="_blank" rel="noopener">throw</a> soup on a Van Gogh painting, then glue themselves to the wall, all without anyone intervening. And of course, on too many occasions to count, these kinds of activists have obstructed traffic with impunity. They get away with it so consistently because, at some level, they have the tacit endorsement of the state.

I&#8217;ve covered these brats extensively before, but even with all those other incidents in mind, this latest attack on Stonehenge is especially egregious to me. Defacing a monument as ancient as Stonehenge is really an attack on humanity. The fact that Stonehenge is still standing is a testament to human ingenuity and resourcefulness that&#8217;s hard to comprehend even to this day, thousands of years later. The only people who would want to deface or destroy Stonehenge and erase the evidence of humanity&#8217;s accomplishments are people who despise humanity itself. It&#8217;s the same reason why climate activists want everyone to stop having children. It&#8217;s the same reason they want to &#8220;end fossil fuels&#8221; and crash the global economy. They&#8217;re not really concerned about global temperatures rising by a degree or two. They want humanity to go extinct.
In comments to the media, Just Stop Oil has denied all of this. They&#8217;ve claimed that this orange cornflour paint is going to wash away in the rain, so it&#8217;s not really vandalism. Of course, Just Stop Oil has made that same claim before when they vandalized several other monuments, and it&#8217;s turned out to be false. 
Additionally, there are apparently 80 <a href="https://www.thetimes.com/uk/crime/article/two-arrestedjust-stop-oil-protesters-spray-stonehenge-orange-paint-99fp2gf2t#:~:text=Nearly%2080%20species%20of%20lichen,sea%20cliffs%2C%20according%20to%20Richards." target="_blank" rel="noopener">species</a> of lichen on Stonehenge that might be dead now, including rare species that scientists wanted to preserve. They&#8217;re still trying to figure out the precise extent of the damage. And even if it does all wash away, they still have no right to use an ancient monument as a platform for their delusional political statement. So even if the paint ultimately does come off, the point remains the same: these activists are fundamentally anti-human — and they&#8217;re becoming increasingly emboldened. In a video message, the 21-year-old Stonehenge attacker — who apparently identifies as nonbinary — explained why they/them/zim/zir decided to deface the monument. Watch:

A few things to note here. First of all, there&#8217;s something physicians refer to as the &#8220;gestalt.&#8221; That includes a person&#8217;s general appearance, tone of voice, and the like. And the gestalt is a little concerning here. For starters, this person is whispering for some reason, which comes off as a little unsettling. On top of that, this nonbinary activist is also wearing a Patagonia shirt, even though Patagonia <a href="https://www.patagonia.com/climate-goals/#" target="_blank" rel="noopener">admits</a> on its website that its vast array of suppliers — by necessity — relies on fossil fuels to conduct operations. They emit something like 200,000 metric tons of CO2 every year. So I guess we&#8217;re meant to conclude that ending fossil fuels is important, except when nonbinary University of Oxford students need a nice sweater vest or t-shirt. Then fossil fuels are okay. 
Of course, every accusation is really an admission with these people. When these activists warn of death and destruction and devastation on an &#8220;immeasurable scale,&#8221; they’re actually revealing precisely what groups like Just Stop Oil want to happen. It&#8217;s what they know will happen if Western nations stop producing fossil fuels, which supply an overwhelming majority of the world&#8217;s energy. We&#8217;ll be taken over by China in about a week. Civilization as we know it will come to an end.
For some reason, that appears to be what a significant number of young people now want to see happen. They&#8217;ve been indoctrinated into a nihilistic death cult. And on social media, many of these young people are now celebrating what just happened at Stonehenge. On Twitter, Oli London posted an <a href="https://x.com/olilondontv/status/1803529776969167156?s=46" target="_blank" rel="noopener">image</a> of a blue-haired British archeologist with &#8220;she/they&#8221; pronouns who wrote that the attack was &#8220;well done.&#8221; More than 10,000 people liked that particular tweet, which gives you some indication of how popular the sentiment is.
It&#8217;s not hard to see why this is becoming a trend. For one thing, there&#8217;s a lot of money in it. 
As Fox News <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/dark-money-fund-poured-millions-dollars-eco-activist-groups-blocking-highways-destroying-famous-art" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> late last year, the Beverly Hills, California-based, Climate Emergency Fund, or CEF, sent roughly $4 million in grants overseas in 2022 alone: &#8220;The most sizable slice [of these grants was] wired to U.K. climate activists. The largest beneficiary of CEF&#8217;s funds appeared to be Just Stop Oil, a British activist group that has repeatedly made headlines for stopping traffic and disrupting public places across the UK.&#8221; And this is just one dark money group based in the United States.
So that amateur quality, creepy video you just saw from the nonbinary activist may have been amateurish on purpose. In reality, Just Stop Oil is an extremely well-funded operation. They could&#8217;ve sprung for better production quality if they wanted to. So-called &#8220;environmental activism&#8221; is now a very big business, and a lot of people are making a lot of money on it from sources we can&#8217;t identify.
That could be one reason the whole movement is attractive to young people, many of whom are now looking for jobs. On top of that, of course, government officials all over the world have become propagandists who indoctrinate young people as a matter of course. 
Here for example is New York governor Kathy Hochul warning of an impending heat emergency in the city:

The central claim that Kathy Hochul is making — that New York has never before seen temperatures that feel like 100° — is completely false. It&#8217;s so obviously false that you can disprove it with about five seconds of Googling. According to the National Weather Service, the highest temperature ever <a href="https://www.weather.gov/media/okx/Climate/CentralPark/extremes.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recorded</a> in New York City&#8217;s Central Park was 106° Fahrenheit, all the way back in July of 1936. And that&#8217;s the actual temperature, not the heat index. 
Before that, there was a heat wave in 1896 that killed more than 1,000 people, as temperatures exceeded 90°. The National Weather Service reports that the warmest month on record in New York was all the way back in July of 1999. And in several years since, New York has hit 100° on several occasions.
So what Kathy Hochul is saying is wrong for about a million reasons. But she said it anyway because she knows it&#8217;s effective. People hear what she&#8217;s saying — especially young people — and they believe it. They become activists and loyal voters for the Democrats. And unless they&#8217;re met with force, as they were at the Battle of the Beanfield, some of those activists will continue to deface priceless historical artifacts to attract attention to their nihilistic death cult. They will continue to block roadways, preventing people from going to work and ambulances from transporting patients. Appeasing these cultists simply does not work. That much is now very clear. If we want to have any monuments or any history left at all, we need to take the threat as seriously as the British did in 1985, and shut them down.
