<p>In the most recent flashpoint in the culture war, American Eagle showcased actress Sydney Sweeney in an advertisement with the caption “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”</p>
<p>The ad is overtly sexual, with the camera highlighting sexual features more than the denim itself, with suggestive poses that frame Sweeney as an erotic object of desire.</p>
<p>“Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,” Sweeney says, back arched, while zipping up her pants. “My jeans are blue.”</p>
<p>The reaction to the ad was a Rorschach test. The Left, locked into a hermeneutic of suspicion with a reflex to read nefarious messaging into things that seem anodyne at a cursory glance, were outraged at the perceived fascist signaling of the ad (Sweeney is thin, blonde, and blue-eyed). Some on the Left interpreted it as a dog whistle for eugenics and white supremacy.</p>
<p>The Right, which often settles for cultural scraps, celebrated the ad as a win against “woke” culture for featuring an attractive, thin white woman after years of brands being influenced by the Left’s ideological fixations with inclusivity. One commentator <a href="https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/the-war-on-hot-women-why-the-woke-mob-hates-sydney-sweeney/ar-AA1Jz1Vf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> the ad was a sign that “the American people are done with ‘woke,” and another said it meant that “woke is dead, and beauty is back.” The X account <a href="https://x.com/EndWokeness/status/1948383505974510061" target="_blank" rel="noopener">End Wokeness</a>, juxtaposing a picture of an American Eagle ad featuring a heavy-set black woman with a picture of Sweeney immodestly posing, commented, “woke is dead.”</p>
<p>For us social conservatives, much of the Right’s reaction was a bleak cultural bellwether. One can argue that the big-budget designers who created the ad knew exactly how the “great jeans” innuendo would be received, and that it was intended to create the media buzz it has. I personally don’t believe that American Eagle, which has a <a href="https://www.aeo-inc.com/inclusion-diversity/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pride flag on its website</a>, is engaged in Nazi dog-whistling.</p>
<p>The Right’s reaction, however, should alarm conservatives who are concerned with the erosion of family-friendly culture. The celebratory reaction to the ad demonstrates just how steeped in liberal paradigms and assumptions the American Right is today. The ad treats sexuality as public, performative, and consumable. It’s revealing and immodest, something I would try to shield my children from seeing at the mall. It’s not a rupture from “woke” in the slightest, rather an embrace of the liberal anthropology that detached sexuality from marriage and procreation during the 1960s sexual revolution.</p>
<p>Much of the contemporary Right now swims in these waters, too steeped in liberalism to even realize that by cheering the American Eagle ad as an “anti-woke” victory, they’re participating in and enabling a culture that the left created.</p>
<p>The ad demonstrated the triumph of liberalism and its assault on the religious right in particular, which, through different kinds of grassroots activist groups, has long campaigned against the kind of sexualized media that brands like American Eagle promote because of the harm it inflicts on families and children.</p>
<p>At the heart of Christianity is the belief that each person is made <i>Imago Dei, </i>in the image of God, and that the human body is not an object of consumption. Pope Saint John Paul II expresses this in “Theology of the Body,” a set of teachings he delivered between 1979 and 1984. He explained how sexual pathologies like pornography distort human dignity and invert the body’s purpose of self-giving love. When this fundamental truth is rejected, it comes as no surprise that the prevalence of sexualized media<a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00224499.2016.1142496?src=recsys&amp;journalCode=hjsr20" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> leads to</a> consequences like higher levels of body dissatisfaction, a greater tolerance of sexual violence toward women, and diminished views of women’s humanity.</p>
<p>For social conservatives who believe moral guardrails are necessary for human flourishing, mainstream culture is still hostile terrain, and the American Eagle Sydney Sweeney ad exposes the cultural captivity of much of the Right.</p>
<p>Being “anti-woke” is not enough, even if the campaign against wokeness generally aligns with the objectives of any socially conservative movement.  Anyone serious about making the public square welcoming to children and families must work to reclaim modesty as the standard cultural norm, and they must have the courage to oppose the liberal foundations of our sexualized marketplace itself.</p>

<p>The internet exploded with viral complaints about American Eagle&#8217;s latest ad campaign — featuring actress Sydney Sweeney — but the poll numbers suggest that the outrage was driven by a very small number of people whose influence is largely limited to cyberspace.</p>
<p>The ad campaign featured <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dunkin-donuts-hitches-ad-wagon-to-sydney-sweeney-and-the-left-melts-down">Sweeney</a> in a number of still photos and videos, wearing American Eagle jeans in several different styles. The tag-line was simple: &#8220;Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.&#8221; But critics harped on the obvious play on words and claimed that because Sweeney is white and has blonde hair and blue eyes, the ad was a Nazi-esque dogwhistle suggesting that her &#8220;genes&#8221; were superior.</p>
<p>Indeed, a poll from The Economist/YouGov indicated that overall, only about 12% of respondents believed the ad campaign was offensive, while the vast majority either found it clever (39%) or had no strong opinion (40%).</p>

<p>Democrats (18%) were more likely than Republicans (7%) or independents (13%) to find the ads &#8220;offensive,&#8221; But even among Democrats, more found it &#8220;clever&#8221; (22%) than &#8220;offensive.&#8221; Far more independents (38%) and Republicans (57%) said that they&#8217;d found the ad to be &#8220;clever.&#8221;</p>
<p>The gender gap was also pronounced, with 17% of women saying that the ads were &#8220;offensive&#8221; compared to only 7% of men who said the same. On the opposite side, nearly one third of the women polled (31%) said the ads were &#8220;clever&#8221; compared to nearly half of the men (49%).</p>
<p>By race, black Americans were more likely to find the ads &#8220;offensive,&#8221; but only slightly. According to the data, 16% of black Americans found it so, compared to 12% of white Americans and only 7% of Hispanic Americans. Across all three demographics, more found the ads to be &#8220;clever&#8221;: 21% of black Americans; 43% of white Americans; and 40% of Hispanic Americans.</p>
<p>The poll was conducted between from August 9-11, and posed the questions to 1,635 adults in the United States</p>

<p>In a culture notorious for rewarding victimization, Sydney Sweeney is going viral for symbolizing something we’ve all been missing: sanity. She’s not loud or radical, and she’s not trying to make a statement. But somehow, just by acting normal, she’s become one.</p>
<p>All she had to do was dress in head-to-toe denim and lean over a car to make the internet go absolutely bananas.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/new-sexy-sydney-sweeney-ad-campaign-has-internet-celebrating-the-end-of-woke">campaign</a> in question is a new ad for American Eagle, and anyone who spends any time on social media has certainly seen reactions to it over the past few weeks. The ad is washed in soft nostalgia, with a vibe including a gas station stop, American denim, and a once-ubiquitous girl-next-door look.</p>
<p>Sweeney’s ad is like a love letter to everything American culture supposedly outgrew. And that’s why people can’t stop talking about it.</p>
<p>The ad racked up millions of views in days. It’s the most viral moment of Sweeney’s career, even more than her Emmy-nominated turn on the popular HBO drama “Euphoria.”</p>
<p>In one of the ads, Sweeney says, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”</p>
<p>This messaging has led to absolute meltdowns by mainstream media and leftist social media influencers, who insist the Sweeney ads are nothing but “Nazi propaganda.” Backlash got so bad that American Eagle responded, but instead of apologizing, they surprisingly doubled down.</p>
<p>“‘Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans. Her jeans. Her story,” the company <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/DM0tMjaTBll/?hl=en">posted</a> on their Instagram.</p>
<p>“We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way,” the statement continued. “Great jeans look good on everyone.”</p>
<p>The reaction has been telling. Fans are celebrating the campaign as a breath of fresh air — it’s not just a fashion ad, it’s a vibe shift. In an industry that runs on provocation, Sweeney is quietly proving you don’t have to reject femininity, tradition, or wholesomeness to be relevant. You just have to stop pretending you’re above it.</p>
<p>That shouldn’t be controversial. But in Hollywood today, it absolutely is.</p>
<p>Sweeney grew up far from the glitz of Los Angeles. She was born and raised in Spokane, a small city in eastern Washington, and comes from what the media might call a “conservative” family — though Sweeney has never commented on politics.</p>
<p>But she has alluded to them. Leftists were <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/euphoria-actress-responds-after-shes-attacked-for-family-photos-with-pro-police-shirt-maga-like-hat">furious</a> in 2022 when she posted photos from her mother’s 60th birthday party. The pictures, which included a relative wearing a “Blue Lives Matter” shirt and a MAGA-style hat, sparked immediate outrage.</p>
<p>Sweeney didn’t take the same path as many before her by issuing a groveling apology. Instead, she posted a follow-up post on X <a href="https://x.com/sydney_sweeney/status/1563660155425673217" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a>, “You guys, this is wild. An innocent celebration for my mom’s milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement… Please stop making assumptions.”</p>
<p>That act of defiance, refusing to apologize, was rare enough. But it’s what she hasn’t done since that’s even more interesting. She hasn’t become a political mouthpiece. She hasn’t branded herself as “anti-woke.” She’s just stayed normal. And for some reason, that drives people crazy.</p>
<p>It’s rare to see a Hollywood star so universally embraced without selling a political message, trauma story, or carefully calculated ideology. But maybe that’s the point.</p>
<p>Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly summed up what many have been saying on a recent episode of her podcast.</p>
<p>“She’s all woman,” Kelly said of Sweeney. “She has a great pair on her that would be the envy of virtually every woman, and they’re obviously natural… and so she’s in some ways, the opposite of a Kardashian,” she added. “She’s petite … she’s buxom, but they’re natural, and her face is not overly prodded or manipulated. She looks normal. She looks like just a pretty American girl.”</p>
<p>Hollywood doesn’t know what to do with someone like Sweeney because she’s not trying to be anyone else. She’s not reinventing herself for every season. She’s not jumping on trends to stay relevant.</p>
<p>It all speaks to a growing hunger for authenticity. It’s not the kind of curated authenticity influencers serve up with a wink and a sponsorship deal. People want real. They’re over the Botox looks that have dominated for years.</p>
<p>That’s the sweet spot Sydney Sweeney has managed to occupy.</p>
<p>Her critics don’t know how to handle it. She’s a reminder that the pendulum is swinging in the hearts of viewers who are tired of being lectured. Sweeney isn’t fighting that culture war directly, but she’s proving that jeans, normalcy, and charm still resonate with most of America.</p>

<p>On Thursday, Trent posted to his Instagram stories about recently earning his promotion to staff sergeant. In the story, Trent quipped, &#8220;It&#8217;s them good jeans,&#8221; according to a screenshot <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/sydney-sweeneys-brother-makes-cheeky-good-jeans-joke-following-his-air-force-promotion">obtained</a> by Fox News.</p>
<p>Sweeney recently took on an avalanche of hate from the Left for posing in an American Eagle Outfitters ad campaign about “good jeans,” which uses a play on both good genetics and a good pair of blue jeans. Critics said the ad was Nazi-coded and racist, since Sweeney is white and has blonde hair and blue eyes.</p>
<p>The actress has refused to buckle under the criticism, and American Eagle has stood by its campaign.</p>
<p>The Right has championed the campaign for shaking off &#8220;woke&#8221; messaging, and praised Sweeney for not caving to unreasonable critics on the Left.</p>
<p>Trent, 29, also published a general post to his Instagram account about the promotion. &#8220;I&#8217;m excited for this next step in my career and thank everyone that&#8217;s been a part of it so far,&#8221; he wrote.</p>
<p>His sister &#8220;liked&#8221; the post.</p>

<p>In the wake of the Left&#8217;s backlash toward Sweeney, left-wing site BuzzFeed <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/articles/yes-sydney-sweeney-registered-republican-131433446.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> on the actress&#8217; apparent political party affiliation as a Republican.</p>
<p>The Daily Wire reviewed records that show a Sydney B. Sweeney is a registered Republican in Florida. The middle name of Sweeney, the actress, is reportedly Bernice.</p>
<p>Additionally, the date of registration is June 2024, the same time it was <a href="https://pagesix.com/2024/06/06/lifestyle/sydney-sweeney-buys-13-5m-oceanfront-florida-mansion/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> that the actress Sweeney purchased a 13.5 million dollar home in Summerland Key, Florida. The registration reviewed by The Daily Wire named Summerland Key as the city.</p>

<p>Dr. Phil McGraw laid into the American political Left over an American Eagle ad campaign featuring actress Sydney Sweeney, trashing them for comparing the ad campaign to the eugenics-based goals of Adolf Hitler&#8217;s Nazi regime.</p>
<p>The popular television host and author shared a few of the more unhinged reactions from the Left — namely that by featuring an attractive white girl and stating that she &#8220;has good jeans&#8221; (read: &#8220;good genes&#8221;) obviously implies that white people are genetically superior — and argued that they were taking their attempts to cancel everything a little bit too far.</p>

<p>McGraw began by noting that if there was a legitimate issue with the ads — which many pointed out would have been indistinguishable from the mainstream just two decades earlier — there was certainly room to have a conversation about that. Still, the Left appeared to prefer simply jumping straight to cancellation.</p>
<p>&#8220;The woke Left is again jumping at the opportunity to shame and cancel everyone and everything that rubs them the wrong way. Don&#8217;t miss a chance,&#8221; he explained. &#8220;Instead of having a cancel culture, a civilized conversation, they&#8217;re screaming at their social media feeds, comparing the ad to Nazi Germany.&#8221;</p>
<p>He went on to say that he found the comparisons to the Holocaust particularly &#8220;insulting,&#8221; mainly because instead of the desired effect — to make people think that Sweeney&#8217;s ad was actually as bad as Nazi propaganda — the comments from the Left did the opposite, minimizing the atrocities perpetrated by the Nazi regime.</p>
<p>&#8220;I have to say these Holocaust analogies are insulting. They&#8217;re insulting. The Holocaust was one of the greatest travesties in human history,&#8221; he added. &#8220;How dare you trivialize mass murder and Hitler&#8217;s Final Solution to a blue jean commercial? What the hell are you thinking? I get it. You don&#8217;t like the play on words. Words can be dangerous, but not as dangerous as being ignorant. Not as dangerous as being overreactive. The hell are you thinking?&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Recording artist Lizzo got in on the trend of mocking the viral American Eagle ad with Sydney Sweeney, but most of her followers were not amused.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The 37-year-old rapper shared what appears to be an AI image of herself clad head to toe in denim to Instagram that included the caption, “My jeans are black.” The image also had text on it that said, “If the Democrats won the election.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Comments on the image mostly criticized Lizzo for having beef with the Sweeney ad, pointing out that it wasn’t racist or hateful to put white people in advertisements.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The argument stems from American Eagle’s viral ad campaign featuring Sweeney posing provocatively with a sports car while helping advertise the retailer&#8217;s denim. In one of the ads, Sweeney says, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”</span></p>

<p>Dunkin&#8217; Donuts took a page from the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-internets-cleavage-over-sydney-sweeneys-commercial">American Eagle playbook</a> with a recent ad featuring actor Gavin Casalegno from &#8220;The Summer I Turned Pretty,&#8221; and the left is having a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/leftists-crash-out-over-whiteness-of-sexy-sydney-sweeney-jean-ads">collective meltdown</a>, claiming that the ads amount to &#8220;racist dog whistles&#8221; and support for &#8220;eugenics.&#8221;</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The big controversy of the day surrounds Sydney Sweeney&#8217;s chest.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sydney Sweeney is an actress who’s done a number of movies lately, but she&#8217;s mostly famous because when she&#8217;s on TV, when she&#8217;s hosting SNL, she shows a lot of cleavage.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">She&#8217;s a very attractive woman and did some new <a href="https://x.com/IamSydSweeney/status/1948063444550468039">American Eagle ads</a> that blew up on social media.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One ad shows her buttoning her jeans seductively; she talks about jeans, saying, “My jeans are blue,” while the voice-over says, “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The homonym meant for the audience is that she has great genetic predispositions and characteristics. Another ad shows her closing the hood of a Mustang, then rubbing the backside of her jeans as she walks away.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The real story here is that Sydney Sweeney is doing sexy commercials, which has been a hallmark of advertising going back to the mid-19th century.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This has resulted in people going absolutely insane, totally crazy.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It’s important to note that people who are characterizing American Eagle as some sort of bizarre Right-wing company are missing the boat. American Eagle is not a Right-wing company. American Eagle is a jeans company that follows whatever it thinks are the prevailing trends of the time.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The real question is: What is the zeitgeist here? It is amazing that we are now having a controversy over what would have been, two decades ago, a perfectly normal ad on your television.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I’m old enough to remember when the Right would have objected to such an ad.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There are some of us who are traditionally-minded who still object to the overt sexualization of women in advertising, as well as the sexualization that is being forced on our culture. Some of us are old enough to remember when Paris Hilton was grinding on cars for a Carl&#8217;s Jr. commercial back in 2005, and objecting to that as being too raunchy and problematic.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I don&#8217;t mean problematic in the Left-wing sense; I mean morally problematic to put scantily clad, attractive women in advertising specifically to get people to buy a product.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But the Left has gone completely insane. They&#8217;ve broken down into two categories, both objecting to the ad.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The first is the feminist line that these ads were “made for the male gaze.” It&#8217;s all about the “male gaze.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Can we get over this nonsense, “the male gaze?” Men like to look at pretty women. That is the way of the world. That is the basis of all human reproduction.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That does not mean that men should ogle women. But if we are going to pretend that beauty does not exist and that men don&#8217;t appreciate it, then you are simply ignoring the realities of life.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The second category is those who say there is something peculiarly Nazi about all of this. W</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">ashington Post fashion critic Rachel Tashjian and Style Memo newsletter writer Shane O’Neill</span> <a href="https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/2025/07/28/sydney-sweeney-american-eagle-ad/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">discussed</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the ads.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">O’Neill posited:</span></p>
<blockquote><p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">The most provocative part of the campaign is when she’s talking about offspring and genes.</span></i> <i><span style="font-weight: 400;">(She says, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality and even eye color,” and the camera pans to her blue eyes. “My jeans are blue.”) Sweeney also has softer copy in the press release. She says of American Eagle, “They have literally been there with me through every version of myself.”</span></i></p>
<p><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">There’s a message about mutable identity there. And that could be extended into a vision of America as a place where you’re NOT bound by who you are at birth. But they went the full opposite of that. &#8230;</span></i></p>
<p><em><span style="font-weight: 400;">I think what’s getting people talking — or rather, why everyone was watching these TikToks obsessively over the weekend and picking them apart — is how regressive the ads seem,” </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tashjian</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> stated. “The line about her having great jeans — several people are suggesting in the comments on Instagram and TikTok that this is a ‘pro-eugenics ad.’ Whether or not that’s the case, it is part of a wave of imagery of influencers, pop stars and musicians that feels tethered to the values of another time.</span></em></p></blockquote>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You&#8217;re going to see a Right-wing backlash building. The “values of another time” would be men thinking attractive women are attractive, because attractive women </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">are attractive</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">. If that&#8217;s “tethered to the values of another time,” then that would be tethered to the values of </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">all time</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">There&#8217;s nothing new there. If that were not the case, sales of Ozempic would be significantly lower.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“For the past five or six years, it seemed like fashion and pop culture were very interested in — even dedicated to — body positivity. Now we’re being fed a lot of images of thinness, whiteness, and unapologetic wealth porn, what with this campaign, influencers like Alix Earle and Sabrina Carpenter’s album cover,” </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Tashjian claimed.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">“Those Sydney Sweeney American Eagle ads are weird. Like fascist weird, like Nazi propaganda, weird. Should we be surprised that a company whose name is literally American Eagle is making fascist propaganda like this?” a TikTok influencer stated. “A blonde-haired blue-eyed white woman is talking about her genes.”</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is crazy. A play on the words “jeans” and “genes” is not meant to be a reference to the Nazis.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another thing: let’s be real: when people look at Sydney Sweeney — I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings here for you lefties — her eye color and hair color are the </span><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">third and fourth things</span></i><span style="font-weight: 400;"> people are looking at when they look at Sydney Sweeney.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">When she says she has good genes, people are not thinking about her eye color or her hair color.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Right has split on this ad. There are many people in the online space who look at the insane reaction of the Left to this, where they are calling it Nazi propaganda, suggesting that it is all about “the male gaze” and the “evils of the male gaze,” “tethered to another time,” and all this crap, and they respond, “This ad is great. It&#8217;s making America great again. This ad is bringing back what makes America awesome. This is a reversion to the heterosexual norm.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This ad can be both a rejection of the post-gender insanity push by the Left, but also be a piece leaning toward very softcore pornography. Being a moral traditionalist, I do not actually believe that commercials like this are great for America.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">I think it&#8217;s good to expose the Left for being totally insane, and I think it is worthwhile noting that the Left is totally crazy. But if you&#8217;re a traditionally moral person, if you&#8217;re somebody who&#8217;s a churchgoer, a synagogue-goer, and you look at this ad, you&#8217;re saying, “This looks like a way to get a bunch of young people to buy jeans by showing Sydney Sweeney&#8217;s butt and breasts.”</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Is that good for culture? Is that good for male/female relations? Is the over-sexualization of our society a generally good thing or a generally bad thing?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Two things can be true at once. One, the Left is totally insane and there&#8217;s nothing Nazi-esque about a jeans pun, and the anti-Left is correct to mock the Left for being totally insipid and insane.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But the Right is also split between people who don&#8217;t hold any sort of traditional values and people who do hold those traditional values, and they exist in an uneasy coalition.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">It will be interesting to see how that coalition works moving forward.</span></p>

New Sexy Sydney Sweeney Ad Campaign Has Internet Celebrating The End Of ‘Woke’

<p>President Donald Trump’s top consumer protection and antitrust official has approved a massive $13.5 billion merger that will reshape the advertising industry, effectively putting the final nail in the coffin of coordination against outlets based on their political viewpoints.</p>
<p>The Federal Trade Commission announced Monday morning that it has decided not to block a merger between Omnicom and IPG, two rival firms which together make up a third of the world’s “Big Six” advertising agencies. But rather than rubber stamp the deal, FTC Chairman Andrew Ferguson extracted a major concession: the firms have agreed to cease all coordination related to viewpoint discrimination, refrain from any coordination in the future, and submit to strict compliance mandates.</p>
<p>Ferguson on Monday in his <a href="https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/omnicom-ipg-ferguson-statement_0.pdf">official statement on the decision</a> said the firms have offered not only to cease coordination in any way that would steer advertising dollars away from publishers based on political viewpoints, but to cooperate with the FTC’s investigation into past collusion and submit to regular compliance reviews.</p>
<p>The FTC appeared poised to block the merger based on evidence of past “anticompetitive” coordination against conservative news organizations, an issue the <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2025/06/02/technology/ftc-investigation-advertising-boycotts.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">commission is actively investigating</a>. Ferguson on Monday pointed the finger at the Global Alliance for Responsible Media, better known as GARM, which was disbanded in controversy after it was caught directing ad dollars away from right-of-center outlets, including The Daily Wire.</p>
<p>“A Congressional investigation concluded that GARM banded together the most powerful firms in their industry to choke off the vital advertising revenue of those who disagreed with them,” Ferguson said in a Monday statement, adding that GARM aimed “to destroy publishers of content of which they disapproved.”</p>
<p>“GARM was neither the beginning nor the end of harmful and potentially unlawful collusion in this industry,” Ferguson said, a reference to concerns that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exclusive-jim-jordan-investigating-ad-industry-attempt-to-create-new-garm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GARM would reconstitute itself</a>.  “Numerous other industry groups and private organizations have publicly sought to use the chokepoint of the advertising industry to effect political or ideological goals.”</p>
<p>The conditions proposed by the companies, however, “mitigate” the FTC’s concerns about politically-motivated collusion in the future.</p>
<p>“Today, Omnicom and IPG have committed themselves to help stop that sort of coordination in their industry,” Ferguson said. “This consent agreement will help mitigate the dangers inherent in a consolidated national advertising market.”</p>
<p>“I hope the conditions imposed on this merger will encourage all advertising firms to adopt similar practices and thereby reduce the temptation to collude to the detriment of their customers, independent journalists, small and independent media companies, consumers, and the American public square,” he concluded.</p>
<p>GARM came under fire in 2024 after a congressional investigation, first reported by The Daily Wire, uncovered overt political bias in the advertising coalition that was being used to keep ad dollars away from websites that weren’t deemed “brand safe.”</p>

<p>Internal emails from ad executives involved in the coalition, which included both Omnicom and IPG, showed that The Daily Wire was put on a “High Risk exclusion list” and “categorized as Conspiracy Theories.” Other emails show that the highest ranking official derided people “advocating for freedom of speech online” and complained that the Constitution was written “by white men exclusively.”</p>
<p>Daily Wire Editor Emeritus and co-founder Ben Shapiro testified to Congress that GARM was a “cartel,” and effectively made it impossible for conservatives to run an ad-based business.</p>
<p>“GARM acts as a cartel,” Shapiro said. “Its members account for 90 percent of ad spending in the United States–almost $1 trillion. In other words, if you’re not getting ad dollars from GARM members, it’s nearly impossible to run an ad-based business.”</p>

<p>The concessions by Omnicom and IPG — which, once merged, will represent the largest ad firm in the world — are a sea change for the ad industry.</p>
<p>While individual companies are certainly still able to decide where they’d like to advertise, it has become standard practice in recent years for the industry to move in concert. Rather than making individual decisions, the industry giants created blacklists using biased third party “misinformation” services such as Newsguard. Entire business sectors would cut off access to disfavored publications based on exclusion lists that became industry standard.</p>
<p>According to the consent decree issued by the FTC on Monday, the firms have agreed to submit annual compliance reports on the matter of coordination for the next five years, as well as spot compliance reports any time the FTC requests one.</p>
<p>The FTC is urging publishers to alert the commission if they believe they are the “object of unlawful collusion.”</p>
<p>The agreement also stipulates that the firms will cooperate with the FTC on all past coordination to boycott publishers based on viewpoint.</p>
<p>“This Agreement requires Omnicom and IPG to cooperate with the Commission in any investigation relating to media-buying services,” Ferguson said, adding that “investigating and policing censorship practices that run afoul of the antitrust laws is a top priority of the Trump-Vance FTC.”</p>
<p>It is unclear whether the other four major ad firms — Publicis, WPP, Dentsu, and Havas — will take action regarding their own practices following the change by Omnicom and IPG. The ad industry has been gathered at the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, where the potential merger was certainly a main topic of discussion.</p>
<p>The public will have 30 days to submit comments to the FTC on the merger decision.</p>

Try cringe-inducing. The image of Harry’s founders locked in this bizarre barber bromance is the stuff of nightmares, not marketing genius.</span></p>
