“Full House” star Candace Cameron Bure thanked God for taking her out of acting for ten years and said during that time off she’s realized he wanted her to become “a disciple for” him.
During Spotify’s “The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast” this week, the 47-year-old actress spoke to her guest, author Heather McFayden, about balancing one’s life and how faith has become integral to every aspect of the star’s world. The discussion starts at the 17:40 minute mark.
Bure said when her career started she didn’t have a focus on God and believes he took her out of the business for a decade to change her priorities and worldview, which she said has become a “biblical” one.
“Being a Christian was just a compartment of my life,” the actress said. “And during that season of motherhood, which I focused on my relationship with God, I then actually started walking the walk.”
“And I think about the ten years that I thought I was going to continue working, and yet God was like ‘nope, I’m going to take you out for ten years because I’m going to build your character. I’m going to build your worldview,'” she added. “Which has become a biblical worldview.”

The “Fuller House” star said God changed her priorities and said “‘if I allow you, if I have you go back into the business, you’re going to come in with new eyes.'”
“‘It’s not just going to be about being on another television show or being an actress,'” she added of his message. “‘It’s not about winning an award. It’s not about getting the job. You’re gonna be a disciple of me for me in whatever job you have in that industry.'”
The “Christmas Under Wraps” star said at the time it was really difficult being out of the business for so long, but said now she’s glad God took her out to teach her.

“Okay, God I’m so glad you took me out,” Bure said. “It was really hard when he did. And I’m grateful that I was able to come back. But I’m a different person than I was in my early 20s and I really do have a different perspective on why I am in the industry. And what I’m trying to share with people. And what my goals are.”
