Kevin Costner’s wife Christine Baumgartner has filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage.
The 49-year-old handbag designer filed to end their marriage on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences,” per TMZ. The filing indicates that she wanted to share custody of their three kids: Cayden, 15; Hayes, 14; and Grace, 12.
TMZ reported that the couple has a prenuptial agreement and she was not seeking spousal support.
“It is with great sadness that circumstances beyond his control have transpired which have resulted in Mr. Costner having to participate in a dissolution of marriage action,” a representative for Costner told the outlet.
“We ask that his, Christine’s, and their children’s privacy be respected as they navigate this difficult time.”
Baumgartner and the “Yellowstone” star became a couple in 1999. They broke up for a short time in 2003, then married in Aspen, Colorado, the following year.
The “Yellowstone” star was previously married to Cindy Costner and shares three children with her: Annie, 39, Lily, 36, and Joe, 35. They divorced in 1994.
He also has a son, Liam, 26, with Bridget Rooney.
Costner has mostly kept private about his relationship and private life. He told People in 2020, “I’m so thankful for Christine as a partner. Our house is like a river: You’ve just got to get into the flow of it.”
The actor has been making headlines recently as fans wonder about the fate of Taylor Sheridan’s hit series “Yellowstone.”
The president of development and production at Paramount Network told fans in April that the network is “confident” Costner will continue on the show even as cancellation rumors persist.

“What I can say is our star, the face of our show and the executive producer, [we] are very confident he’s going to continue with our show,” Cox said during a panel at PaleyFest, as The Daily Wire previously reported.
One of Costner’s co-stars, Moses Brings Plenty, said that he’s “not worried about anything” because the “right people [are] at the helm” of the series.
“Kevin is very much a big part of the show and hopefully will continue to be for a very long time,” he said of the rumors.
