The hit drama “Yellowstone” is officially ending with the second half of Season 5 and the show’s creator already has a follow-up series that is set to debut immediately after the season concludes.

The second half of Season 5 is set to come out in November, Deadline reported, adding “Yellowstone” creator Taylor Sheridan already has a new sequel lined up from 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios that will debut in December.

The name of the new show has not been released and no cast have been named, the report said. It is expected to star Matthew McConaughey, who the report said remained in ongoing negotiations, and will feature a “handful of original Yellowstone cast members.”

It is not clear whether Kevin Costner, who stars as rancher family patriarch John Dutton, will even be back for the second half of Season 5 amid contract issues.

“Yellowstone has been the cornerstone on which we have launched an entire universe of global hits – from 1883 to Tulsa King, and I am confident our Yellowstone sequel will be another big hit, thanks to the brilliant creative mind of Taylor Sheridan and our incredible casts who bring these shows to life,” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios.

David Glasser, CEO, 101 Studios, added, “The Dutton story continues, picking up where Yellowstone leaves off in another epic tale. We are thrilled to bring this new journey to audiences around the world.”

The success of the show has given Sheridan “seemingly unlimited leverage” over 101 Studios, which produces the shows, and Paramount, which buys them, according to a report this week from The Wall Street Journal. Sheridan dictates nearly every aspect of how, when, and where the shows are produced with little pushback from executives, the report said.

Sheridan reportedly charges Paramount up to $50,000 per week to film at one of his Texas ranches, the report said in noting how expensive the episodes can cost to produce.

For example, episodes of “1923,” one of two “Yellowstone” prequels, cost at least $22 million each to produce, the report said. Paramount spends more than $500 million per year producing his shows.
