‘Wretched Hive Of Scum And Villainy’: Ben Shapiro Nukes UN In Chat With Key Israeli Diplomat

Israel’s longtime top diplomat told Ben Shapiro Monday that the U.S. should stay in the United Nations to change it from within even though he agreed with the Daily Wire host that the world body has become “a wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

Danny Danon, who was Israel’s representative to the UN from 2015-2020, has a new book out called “In The Lion’s Den” in which he recounts his time representing the Jewish State in the world body. Appearing on Shapiro’s daily radio show and podcast, Danon acknowledged that the pervasive anti-Semitism at the UN made him wonder why the U.S. or its staunch Middle East ally stayed.

“After spending five long years there, I thought about this idea almost every day,” Danon said. “But I think the U.S. should not leave the UN. I think they should demand reforms at the UN. You give so much funds to the UN, you can demand more. You should demand more and make sure that the UN is doing what it was supposed to do.

“And that is not to bash Israel, but that is to promote peace in the world,” he continued. “I would advise the US and others stronger countries to change the UN.”

Shapiro noted that just the night before, Iranian President Ibrahim Razi had appeared on CBS News’ “60 Minutes,” where he refused to acknowledge that the Holocaust occurred. Razi was also recently granted a visa waiver to come to the U.S. in order to address the UN General Assembly, Shapiro noted.

“I mean, it’s always been one of the great mysteries of history as to whether the Holocaust happened,” Shapiro said sarcastically.

But the real reason for Razi’s trip to the U.S. is to lobby world leaders to support the Iran nuclear deal that former President Obama hatched with Tehran and that his successor, former President Trump, tore up. Razi should not be allowed the privilege after his shameful remarks about the Holocaust, said Danon.

“You denied the Holocaust and we deny him the platform of speaking at the United Nations,” Danon said. “I think what should happen when he wants to speak in a few days is that everybody should deny his speech, not to show up to his speech.”

Danon said he didn’t expect any international show of solidarity on behalf of Israel.

“The UN will let him speak, unfortunately,” he said. “But I think that every respectable democracy should not send their ambassador or a head of state into the General Assembly hall and send a clear message. If you deny the Holocaust, we deny your presence.

“Unfortunately, he’s coming to the U.S. like a celebrity, and that’s not how you treat terrorists,” Danon added.

The longtime diplomat said he hopes that the current election taking place in Israel will result in former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returning to power.

“Look at what’s happening in the region,” Danon said, adding that Iran as well as terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah pose a gathering threat to the Jewish state. “They feel the weakness of this current government and that’s why they are trying to push us now. I hope that by the end of November, we will have a stable government.”
