Rumors that singer Ariana Grande is dating the actor who voices “Spongebob” are circulating despite the fact that she’s still married, but now the wife of voice actor Tom Kenny is making an important distinction.
Some fans mistakenly identified Grande’s rumored new paramour as Kenny, the man who has voiced the popular character “Spongebob” since the Tv show “Spongebob Squarepants” debuted in 1999. But Kenny is happily married and not acquainted with the “Thank U, Next,” singer, his wife insists.
Instead, Grande has been linked romantically with actor Ethan Slater, who plays the titular yellow sponge in “SpongeBob SquarePants: The Broadway Musical.”
“Hi everyone, I’m married to Tom Kenny (who voices SpongeBob on the TV show). He is not dating Ariana Grande. I don’t know if Ethan Slater (who played SpongeBob in the musical) is or isn’t dating Ariana Grande. However, they’re both adorable and I totally ship it,” Kenny’s wife Jill commented on an article from The Cut titled, “Is Ariana Grande Dating Spongebob Now?”
“Just wanted to set the record straight,” she continued. “P.S. as for me and Tom Kenny — we are celebrating our 27th wedding anniversary today.”
Kenny received two Emmy Awards for his work as Spongebob and has voiced other popular animated characters, including Heffer Wolfe in “Rocko’s Modern Life,” the Ice King in “Adventure Time,” the Narrator and Mayor in “The Powerpuff Girls,” Carl Chryniszzswics in “Johnny Bravo,” and Dog in “CatDog.”

Meanwhile, Grande has been married to real estate developer Dalton Gomez since 2021. The pair sparked rumors that they were breaking up when Grande was spotted not wearing her wedding ring and sources told tabloids they were no longer together. A source told TMZ in mid-July that the couple was “heading for divorce,” but that rumor has not been officially confirmed by either party.
Grande posted to Instagram in May on the couple’s second anniversary with a “2” and a caption that said, “I love him so.”
Meanwhile, Slater is also married. He recently separated from his wife Lilly Jay, whom he began dating in 2012 and married in November 2018, per People. The couple had a baby son in August 2022.
Reps for Grande, Slater, and Gomez have remained silent on the rampant rumors.
