‘What Is A Woman?’ Reviews Hidden On Letterboxd Social Networking Platform

The social networking platform Letterboxd hid reviews of Matt Walsh’s documentary “What Is A Woman?” from non-subscribers on their platform.

Bounding Into Comics writer Jacob Smith noticed that even with a registered account, subscribers could only see reviews written by their friends, too. This isn’t the case for any other movies on the site. Anyone can see the reviews for “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” and “Phantom of the Open,” to name a few, regardless of their subscriber status.

The site’s social media account replied, confirming the reviews were hidden. They blamed it on “moderation traffic.”

Due to a high volume of moderation traffic, reviews for this title are hidden at this time. Reviews remain visible on members’ profiles, with the exception of those removed for violating our Community Policy, they shared

This all comes on the heels of Rotten Tomatoes listing “What Is a Woman?” as their number one most watched movie at home. Meanwhile, only two critics have reviewed the documentary. Walsh posted the email responses from some of those reviewers after they were asked to screen it.

“‘What Is A Woman’ is the most talked about film in the country right now and a smash hit. We thought film critics might be interested in giving it a look. Here are the responses we got back when we sent out the screener. They were less than enthusiastic it turns out,” he shared to Twitter June 3.

“Unsubscribe. Lose my email. Forget my name,” one person replied.

“Hard f***ing pass. I won’t give that transphobic bigot a platform on my site,” said another. “Never email me again!”

“Absolutely f***ing not. He’s a bigot and you should be ashamed to be associated with him,” echoed a third. “Have a great weekend!”

“Yeah, I’m not reviewing a film by a bigot,” another person replied.

One of the two critic reviews of “What Is a Woman?” that’s been published so far was written by Daily Wire contributor Christian Toto. He gave the documentary a 3 out of 4, noting, “Some won’t accept the documentary’s premise at face value. Others will rage at Walsh’s staid demeanor, knowing the true feelings lurking beneath his mild-mannered style.”

Toto continued, saying, “What we should all agree on is simple. It can’t be off bounds to dig deeper into the trans conversation. Our children are in play, for starters. The film aggressively pursues this angle, and we see specialists giddy at helping young children begin their ‘transition.’”

The documentary attempts to expose the dark reality of radical gender ideology, including the history of where it came from, and the proponents who prey upon young, confused children. “What Is a Woman?” currently has a 97% fresh viewer score on Rotten Tomatoes, where the reviews are not hidden – for now.
