After a week of public feuding, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk delivered an apology to President Donald Trump via his X platform during the early morning hours Wednesday.
Musk, who recently deleted posts warning that Trump was named in the files relating to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, had mostly broken with Trump over the &#8220;One Big Beautiful Bill&#8221; currently moving through the Senate. He went so far in a number of posts to call for people to vote against anyone in Congress who supported it.
In his Wednesday morning post, however, he voiced regret for how far he’d taken his attacks: “I regret some of my posts about President @realDonaldTrump last week. They went too far.”

Despite being at odds over the budget bill — which Musk said would undo the work he and so many others had done with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) project to cut the bloat and waste within the federal government — he made it clear that he agreed with Trump on other issues.
On several occasions, he either reposted or commented positively on posts from Trump or his team regarding the administration’s actions to control the rioting in Los Angeles County.

Musk also shared Trump’s statement criticizing California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Democratic Mayor Karen Bass for their failure to restore order once the violent protests and riots — during which rioters specifically targeted law enforcement and federal agents — began.

Many began to question whether a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/is-the-ice-melting-trump-wont-slam-musk-to-reporters-who-bait-him-musk-responds-with-emoji">reconciliation</a> between the two billionaires was on the table as Musk voiced his support for Trump’s actions in California, and the SpaceX CEO’s early-morning apology appeared to support that sentiment.

Rep. Salud Carbajal (D-CA) became increasingly unhinged during a House Armed Services Committee hearing on Thursday, attacking Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth directly and demanding that he &#8220;Get the hell out!&#8221;
Hegseth was on Capitol Hill for a budget hearing, but Carbajal used the opportunity to insult Hegseth repeatedly before telling him that he was &#8220;unfit to lead&#8221; and should resign.

&#8220;I have called for your resignation. I didn’t think you were qualified before your confirmation, and you have done nothing to inspire confidence in your ability to lead competently,&#8221; Carbajal began.
He later asked Hegseth whether allegiance or deference to President Donald Trump’s wishes was a requirement for serving in his administration. The Defense Secretary did not answer the question at all until Carbajal pressed the point — and when he did address it, he dismissed the question as “silly.”
That was when Carbajal’s apparently limited patience ran out.

“I’m not going to waste my time anymore. You’re not worthy of my attention or my questions,” Carbajal unloaded on Hegseth. “You’re an embarrassment to this country. You’re unfit to lead and there’s been bipartisan members of Congress that have called for your resignation. You should just get the hell out and let somebody competently lead this department.”
The California congressman’s outburst ultimately resulted in one member walking out — asking on the way out whether there was any “decorum” in hearings anymore — and a stern rebuke from Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI).
“I would urge everybody to remember and maintain decorum suitable for this chamber for further comments,” he said.

‘Get The Hell Out’: California Democrat Loses It During Hearing, Attacks Pete Hegseth

President Donald Trump took a jab at former President Joe Biden on Thursday, saying that Biden was &#8220;much better at sleeping&#8221; than he was and that thinking up ways to &#8220;save the country&#8221; often kept him up at night.
The president, who signed a bill Thursday that would block California&#8217;s ban on new gas-powered cars, joked about the fact that his predecessor had often been caught on camera relaxing and even sleeping at the beach — and said that was something that he himself was just not good at doing.

Later on in his remarks, Trump took another shot at Biden — this time with regard to his administration&#8217;s policies, saying, &#8220;The previous administration — the previous administration — I could go point after point, everything they did. Open borders, men playing in women&#8217;s sports, transgender for everybody — everybody, let&#8217;s go transgender. What a group of people. They must have hated our country.&#8221;

Trump Jabs At Biden Over What Keeps Him Up At Night: ‘He Was Better At Sleeping Than Me’

Governor Gavin Newsom (D-CA) tried to attack Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for taking a moment to enjoy the annual Congressional baseball game, claiming that he&#8217;d left National Guard troops and U.S. Marines deployed in California without access to basic necessities.
Newsom was responding to a photo, posted by the @DODRapidResponse account, that showed Hegseth taking in the Wednesday evening game with family. &#8220;America&#8217;s @SecDef. America&#8217;s favorite pastime,&#8221; the caption read.

Newsom replied with one of the same photos he&#8217;d shared earlier in the week — when he&#8217;d claimed that President Donald Trump and Hegseth had deployed troops to California without ensuring that their basic needs were met — and argued further that the National Guard and Marines &#8220;weren&#8217;t needed&#8221; in the first place.
&#8220;Pete sent 4,700 troops here (when they weren’t needed) without adequate fuel, food, water or a place to sleep. But don’t worry, he’s at a baseball game,&#8221; Newsom posted.

The @DODRapidResponse account responded with a photo from the riots that rocked Los Angeles for two days before Trump ordered the California National Guard to provide assistance to local law enforcement. In the photo, a man could be seen waving a Mexican flag, surrounded by smoke from the cars that were being burned in the streets. Accompanying the photo was a two-word caption, mockingly quoting Newsom&#8217;s claim that the troops &#8220;weren&#8217;t needed.&#8221;

Protests and riots had erupted in the Los Angeles area beginning nearly a week prior, when demonstrators attempted to disrupt Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents as they conducted operations. In the days that followed, rioters destroyed property, looted stores, and attacked local law enforcement officers and federal agents. Blaming Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, also a Democrat, for failing to protect people, Trump ordered first the National Guard and then a number of active duty Marines to rein in the situation.

Newsom Tries To Wreck Hegseth For Attending Congressional Ball Game. It Doesn’t Go Well.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent admitted he had to laugh when Rep. Richard Neal (D-MA) claimed that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) had implemented updated technology in recent years.
During a Thursday hearing on Capitol Hill, Bessent fielded questions from a number of House members on the One Big, Beautiful Bill — and he said that while he had &#8220;great respect&#8221; for Neal, he couldn&#8217;t help but be amused by his assertions regarding supposed improvements at the IRS.

Neal began by claiming that improvements and &#8220;technological upgrades&#8221; were all thanks to former President Joe Biden&#8217;s Inflation Reduction Act, and that &#8220;cuts to Medicaid and SNAP&#8221; were going to lead to over a million lost jobs.
&#8220;A professor at Yale has said that this [OBBB] will conservatively cause tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths!&#8221; Neal continued. &#8220;Worse health care. Job losses. More borrowed money. The American people deserve considerably better than what we&#8217;re being told.&#8221;
Neal went on to &#8220;challenge&#8221; Bessent, saying that the minority side would work with the Trump administration if the bill would direct tax relief specifically to those making less than $400,000 in joint income.

&#8220;Mr. Neal &#8230; Representative Neal,&#8221; Bessent replied. &#8220;I have great respect for you. We&#8217;ve had great conversations, but respectfully, if I weigh a thousand pound and you weigh 50 and I gain ten pounds &#8230;&#8221;
Bessent attempted to explain how the 2017 tax cuts — which have been widely panned by Democrats — lowered taxes for lower income brackets and those with higher incomes shouldered much more of the burden.
&#8220;I can&#8217;t — I&#8217;m sorry, I chuckled when you talked about the IT at the IRS,&#8221; Bessent continued. &#8220;The program is 35 years behind schedule. 35 years. And is wasting $2 billion a year.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s why we put the extra money in!&#8221; Neal objected.
&#8220;No, no, no, no, no! The extra money went in for BODIES!&#8221; Bessent fired back. &#8220;And whistleblowers acknowledged that standards were being lowered to bring in new agents. Money is not the issue here. It is how the money is spent.&#8221;
&#8220;That&#8217;s exactly right, we agree on that,&#8221; Neal interjected. &#8220;How the money is spent.&#8221;
&#8220;And it has been spent poorly,&#8221; Bessent replied.

Treasury Sec Admits He ‘Chuckled’ When Democrat Boasted About Improvements At IRS

Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) immediately regretted his decision to demand an example from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth of a medical research project that he believed the Defense Department was justified in terminating.
Hegseth appeared on Wednesday before the Senate Appropriations Committee, and Durbin used some of his time in an attempt to attack Hegseth by claiming that, under his leadership, the Defense Department was cutting funding to vital medical research efforts.

Durbin began by touting his own actions, saying that during his tenure on that committee they had &#8220;dramatically increased the medical research to protect the men and women in uniform &#8230; It is enough for me that they risk their lives for our country. We shouldn&#8217;t make it a more dangerous situation, and we ought to understand what&#8217;s going on in their minds and their bodies when they serve.&#8221;
He then turned to Hegseth, complaining that millions of dollars in research projects had been canceled since he became Defense Secretary: &#8220;Your budget cuts two thirds — two thirds of that amount for defense health research. How can that be consistent with our mutual goal of making the military life a safer life for our men and women in uniform?&#8221;
&#8220;Senator, I would take issue with your characterization that all two-thirds of that — whatever was reduced — is focussed on the issues that you just spoke about,&#8221; Hegseth replied, saying that if the funding had been used for research that improved service members&#8217; lives, he would support it.
&#8220;My team knows that&#8217;s exactly the type of research that we would fund,&#8221; Hegseth continued. &#8220;But we did find lots of other research inside the Defense Department to the tens of millions and in some cases hundreds of millions of dollars that was a boondoggle for the American people.&#8221;
&#8220;Give me an example of a &#8216;boondoggle&#8217; in medical research and defense health,&#8221; Durbin interrupted.
&#8220;We&#8217;re talking about — some stuff I shouldn&#8217;t say in public. You know, marbles in the rear ends of cats, tens of millions of dollars. Things that don&#8217;t have —&#8221; Hegseth obliged.
Durbin, clearly wishing he could withdraw the question, attempted to deflect: &#8220;Is this like the 300 — 300 — is this like the 350-year-old Social Security check that the president told us about?&#8221;
&#8220;Senator, I respect completely the issue that you&#8217;re speaking with &#8230; the Defense Department has been a place where organizations, entities, and companies know they can get money almost unchecked whether or not it actually applies to things that happen on the battlefield. That&#8217;s what we worked very hard to find in ways that other secretaries have not. This committee and others talk about waste, fraud, and abuse all the time. We have actually gone after waste, fraud, and abuse. Because every dollar that was spent is another dollar we can pour into the war-fighters.&#8221;
Durbin tried one last time, saying that cutting two-thirds of the spending — would not &#8220;Make America Great Again&#8221; for the families of service members: &#8220;I don&#8217;t think so.&#8221; He did not address Hegseth&#8217;s point regarding the fact that much of the spending had been found to be &#8220;waste, fraud, and abuse&#8221; — and instead, he changed the subject to complain about the military parade scheduled for Flag Day.

Top Democrat Demands Example Of Research The Defense Department Should Axe, Regrets It Immediately

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt issued a stark warning to any potential protesters who had a mind to engage in the same sort of violence and vandalism that has been seen in Los Angeles over the last several days, saying from the press room podium: &#8220;You will not succeed.&#8221;
Leavitt&#8217;s warning comes after five days of violent protests and riots in Los Angeles, sparked by protesters who were attempting to prevent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents from doing their jobs and arresting criminal illegal aliens. The anti-ICE rioters have damaged property and attacked both local law enforcement officers and federal agents, prompting President Donald Trump to mobilize a number of California National Guard troops and U.S. Marines to get the situation under control.

As the weekend approaches with protests already popping up in other cities across the United States, Leavitt warned would-be protesters that it would be in their best interest not to make the same mistakes that some in California had in interfering with the work of federal agents who were enforcing the law.
&#8220;Let this be an unequivocal message to left-wing radicals in other parts of the country who are thinking about copycatting the violence in an effort to stop this administration&#8217;s mass deportation efforts: you will NOT succeed,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Any lawlessness will only strengthen this president&#8217;s resolve to defend the majority of Americans who want to live their lives peacefully, free from the fear of violent criminal illegal aliens.&#8221;
