<p>The <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Twitter</a> account belonging to The Christian Post was restored on Saturday following a nine-month <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/social-media-censorship" target="_blank" rel="noopener">suspension</a> over a tweet calling Health and Human Services Assistant Secretary <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/rachel-levine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Rachel Levine</a>, who claims identity as a <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/transgender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender</a> woman, a “man.”</p>
<p>The move comes two months after <a href="http://dailywire.com/topic/elon-musk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Elon Musk</a> officially took control of Twitter following a $44 billion acquisition deal. Among the first high-profile accounts to be <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/babylon-bee-ceo-we-now-have-more-twitter-followers-than-ever-because-we-stubbornly-refused-to-bend-the-knee-for-tyrants" target="_blank" rel="noopener">restored</a> was the page belonging to the Babylon Bee, a Christian satire outlet that posted an <a href="https://babylonbee.com/news/the-babylon-bees-man-of-the-year-is-rachel-levine" target="_blank" rel="noopener">article</a> that jokingly designated Levine as “Man of the Year.”</p>
<p>An email from Twitter sent in March likewise <a href="https://www.christianpost.com/news/twitter-takes-action-against-christian-post-over-rachel-levine-tweet.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">accused</a> The Christian Post, a conservative evangelical publication, of “hateful conduct” and warned that officials had “temporarily limited some” features of the account, including the ability to tweet and like posts from other users. The original tweet read “USA Today names Rachel Levine, a man, among its ‘Women of the Year.’”</p>
<p>The Christian Post <a href="https://twitter.com/ChristianPost/status/1609223724456374280" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said</a> on its restored account that the outlet “refused to retract” an objectively true statement because of their journalistic commitments and their religious convictions.</p>
<p>“We understand our ethical obligation to provide accuracy over narrative and truth over opinion. Calling a man a man is a scientific truth, not opinion. Editorializing facts is called commentary, opinion, or, in some cases, dishonesty,” a thread posted to the account said. “But more importantly, as Christians, our primary responsibility is to God and advancing His truth. This is why we refused to capitulate on our biblical standards of truth by bowing down to the immoral demands of Twitter’s former leadership.”</p>
<p>“In this case, obedience to God meant judgment by man,” The Christian Post continued, alluding to the words of the apostle Peter when he was told to stop preaching the gospel. “As living sacrifices to God, this was a small but necessary line for us to draw.”</p>
<p>The outlet thanked Musk for his commitment to free speech and vowed to “continue speaking biblical truth, never in hate, always in love, and always to inform our readers to the best of our abilities.” Musk has <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/read-it-elon-musk-explains-why-he-bought-twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously stated</a> that he acquired Twitter in order to ensure that a section of the public square is free from censorship and open to dialogue.</p>
<p>Americans with conservative and religious viewpoints have faced censorship from social media companies, particularly with respect to their stances on contentious social issues. Libs of TikTok, an account that focuses on Left-wing activists, was temporarily <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/libs-of-tiktok-locked-out-of-twitter-again" target="_blank" rel="noopener">locked out</a> of Twitter several months ago for a “hateful conduct” warning. Allie Beth Stuckey, a commentator and podcast host, was suspended from Twitter on two separate occasions, once for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/twitter-suspends-conservative-pundit-allie-beth-stuckey-for-stating-that-transgender-weightlifter-is-a-man" target="_blank" rel="noopener">saying</a> that a transgender woman competing as an Olympic weightlifter is “still a man” and again for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/allie-beth-stuckey-suspended-from-twitter-after-challenging-fox-news-segment-that-went-viral" target="_blank" rel="noopener">denouncing</a> a Fox News segment that <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/shapiro-a-complete-betrayal-at-fox-news" target="_blank" rel="noopener">highlighted</a> a family claiming their child was transgender.</p>
<p>Musk, a vocal fan of the Babylon Bee, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/elon-musk-contacted-the-babylon-bee-before-buying-9-of-twitter" target="_blank" rel="noopener">consulted</a> with the company’s leadership before launching his bid to acquire the platform, which also refused to delete its post. “We now have more followers, reach, and revenue than ever before,” Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon said after the outlets’ account was restored, “not because we acquiesced, but because we stubbornly refused to bend the knee for tyrants.”</p>
