Senator Bill Cassidy (R-LA) is asking the Department of Health and Human Services to release a trove of emails and communications written by the Biden administration’s high-profile, transgender-identifying Assistant Secretary Richard “Rachel” Levine.
“It is crucial that Congress and the Executive Branch, including HHS, partner together to uncover any collusion or wrongdoing, including the suppression of evidence-based medicine by previous administrations, which can cause irrevocable harm to our country’s children,” the Louisiana Republican, who <a href="https://www.help.senate.gov/chair/about" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chairs</a> the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP), wrote in the letter to HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
In the letter, Cassidy requests emails and communications between Levine, members of his staff, and several medical organizations that support gender transitions for children, including the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Endocrine Society, that were exchanged during the Biden presidency.
“HHS remains committed to reversing the harmful policies enacted by Levine and the Biden Administration that did irreparable harm to children, and to ensuring biological reality guides our approach to public health. The Department will respond directly to Senator Cassidy,” Health and Human Services press secretary Emily Hilliard told The Daily Wire.
The Biden administration was known for its <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admin-releases-report-promoting-transgenderism-abroad-for-inclusive-democracy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">embrace</a> of radical gender ideology and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-media-lied-about-child-gender-surgeries-and-heres-the-proof" target="_blank" rel="noopener">push</a> to provide experimental sex-rejecting interventions, such as puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries, to children and young adults.
Cassidy asks in the letter that HHS provide communications between Admiral Levine and White House personnel, including “former President Joe Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris, and staff,” about “gender affirming care” and the transgender agenda.

Marshall, when Alabama Attorney General Stephen Marshall successfully <a href="https://www.alabamaag.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/2025.5.1-Attorney-General-Steve-Marshall-Announces-Victory-in-Defense-of-Alabamas-Law-Prohibiting-Sex-Change-Procedures-for-Minors.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">defended</a> Alabama’s right to ban sex-rejecting procedures for minors.
“Former Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Levine and staff, exercised significant political influence over WPATH and possibly other medical and professional organizations,” Cassidy writes.
“That influence appears to have been directed toward and ultimately resulted in the removal of age limits for adolescent gender transition surgical interventions, including mastectomies, breast augmentation, facial surgeries, genital surgeries, and hysterectomies, from WPATH’s Standards of Care (SOC-8).”
Cassidy asked HHS to provide the requested emails, documents, and communications by March 5, 2026.
“Americans have every right to know the scientific rigor of the data behind policies and guidelines issued by medical and professional organizations, particularly given that these guidelines are widely used and relied upon by health care providers and patients, including minors,” Cassidy said.

WASHINGTON—The last Assistant Secretary for Health at the Department of Health and Human Services was a man who identified as a woman and promoted the false claim that “gender-affirming” procedures are medically necessary for children. His replacement is a Catholic grandfather whose vigorous defense of freedom and the vulnerable has earned the Left&#8217;s scorn.
Admiral Brian Christine is a urologist from Alabama, a member of the American Urologic Association, the Sexual Medicine Society of North America, the International Society for Sexual Medicine, and the International Continence Society.
Last month, his office <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/gender-dysphoria-report">r</a><a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/gender-dysphoria-report">eleased a report</a> on the risks of gender transition procedures for kids.  That report found that puberty blockers, cross sex hormones, and surgeries have &#8220;significant, long-term&#8221; harms that are &#8220;too often ignored or inadequately tracked.&#8221; He is determined, he told The Daily Wire, to do exactly the opposite of what his predecessor did.
That would be Rachel (Richard) Levine, a transgender-identifying man whom the Biden administration put front and center to convey its commitment to radical gender ideology. Levine came under fire during his tenure for <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-secretary-levine-dubs-self-agencys-first-female-four-star-officer-in-bizarre-video-highlighting-diversity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claiming</a> to be the “first female four-star officer” and attempting to <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-biden-official-allegedly-behind-push-to-ditch-age-guidelines-for-transgender-procedures-docs-show?author=Virginia+Kruta&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trans-Identifying+Biden+Official+Allegedly+Behind+Push+To+Ditch+Age+Guidelines+For+Transgender+Procedures%3A+Docs+Show">remove any age restrictions</a> for transgender surgeries.
Brian Christine has different priorities.
On Friday morning, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ceremonially swore Christine in as the assistant secretary for health and the head of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, pinning Christine with his insignia to recognize his rank as a four-star admiral. 
&#8220;When President Trump and I asked Brian Christine to serve, we weren&#8217;t just checking a box,” the secretary <a href="https://1819news.com/news/item/rfk-jr-praises-mountain-brook-doctor-admiral-brian-christine-during-pinning-ceremony">said on Friday</a>. “We were both convinced that we had found the leader who would be most able to revive and strengthen the uniform service.&#8221;
“Under Admiral Christine&#8217;s leadership, the core is entering a new era, one defined by readiness, transparency, integrity, and clinical excellence,” the secretary promised. “He will rebuild our alignment, the core&#8217;s alignment with sister agencies, restoring pride in the uniform, and sharpening our focus on preparedness and fitness.”
In an interview with The Daily Wire from his office in the Hubert Humphrey building in Washington, D.C., Christine explained that there are about 5,200 individuals in the <a href="https://www.usphs.gov/">commissioned corps</a> of the public health service, commissioned by the president, who carry a rank. Christine, as an admiral, is one of them. 
“We are the secretary and the president&#8217;s deployable healthcare force,” he explained. “We have physicians. There are nurses, there are engineers, even veterinarians, believe it or not, scientists who are part of the commission corps. We deploy to where the secretary, where the president feels that we are needed for public health efforts.”
“We have officers that work at the FDA, for instance. We have officers, a tremendous number, that work in the Indian Health Services &#8230; We have officers, 18 officers, that are at Guantanamo Bay providing the medical care for individuals in Guantanamo Bay. We have officers in the Federal Prison Bureau taking care of inmates, because they need medical care as well.&#8221; 
Christine is ready to dive into a number of issues, but a main priority for him is to build up the commissioned corps, to increase morale, and make sure they’re ready to be deployed by the secretary. One way of doing this: launching his “Public Health Service Mission Fit,” an initiative to build a stronger Public Health Service and to support readiness in “physical fitness, mental wellness, sleep, and nutrition.” 
“We want to be ready,” he shared. “I want my officers to be physically fit, to be mentally fit, to be emotionally fit, to be deployed, and to lead the charge on public health. One of my goals is to bring the commission corps more in line with the other uniformed services &#8230; it&#8217;s going to promote physical well-being. It&#8217;s going to promote physical challenges for my officers, physical fitness training twice a year, physical fitness standards that need to be met weekly required training.”
Christine is very excited about the plan (“He’s very fit, as you can tell,” joked Kennedy at the Friday ceremony as he discussed how Christine plans to promote fitness through his role). He plans to take his own public health service fitness test in the next few weeks, post the results, and challenge his officers to beat his score.
Levine, he said, did not promote physical fitness. 
“This was not a priority for him,” Christine said, using the masculine pronoun “he” to refer to Levine. “It&#8217;s a priority for me. Our officers. We&#8217;re going to be challenging the other uniformed services. We&#8217;re going to be challenging them to put together teams. We&#8217;re going to put together physical challenges, fitness challenges, and we&#8217;re going to engage. We&#8217;re going to challenge them. We&#8217;re going to meet the other uniformed service members on the field of battle, and we&#8217;re going to be having competitions.”

Undoing Levine’s push to promote so-called “gender-affirming care” for children is another main priority for Christine, who spoke at length of how radical this effort was. 
“We’re righting those wrongs right now,” he said. “We&#8217;re focused on protecting our children. We&#8217;re focused on preaching the truth that a little boy is a little boy, a little girl is a little girl. You can&#8217;t change that.”
Christine is sympathetic to the struggles of children struggling with gender dysphoria and to the challenges their parents face. On a personal level, he believes in pastoral care from pastors or priests who can help support these kids, if their parents wish it. 
“We&#8217;re focused upon telling parents there is hope for these kids who suffer with gender dysphoria,” he explained. “They do suffer. They need counseling. They need compassionate counseling and care and support.”
“We&#8217;re advocating for what&#8217;s best for children,” he said firmly. “We have science to back us up, clear science [showing] that the wrong way to treat these children are castrating chemicals and surgeries that reject their sex. That&#8217;s what Rachel Levine had pushed. We&#8217;re righting those wrongs right now.” 
His confidence is bolstered by the knowledge that both the President of the United States and the Secretary of Health and Human Services are firmly behind this cause as well. 
“President Trump and Secretary Kennedy are working to turn this country around. To make this country greater than it&#8217;s ever been, to make the country healthier. We in this office, we want to be and we are the tip of the spear for that. We&#8217;re here for the president. We&#8217;re here for the secretary, and we’re not going to back down.” 
HHS sparked a backlash earlier this month by <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-biden-official-outraged-trump-hhs-changed-his-nameplate?author=Amanda+Prestigiacomo&amp;category=News&amp;elementPosition=undefined&amp;row=0&amp;rowType=Vertical+List&amp;title=Trans-Identifying+Biden+Official+Outraged+Trump+HHS+Changed+His+Nameplate">changing the name</a> on Levine’s official portrait in the halls of the Humphrey Building — it formerly read Rachel Levine, but now reads Richard Levine. Under the Biden administration, Democrats and activists had widely celebrated that Levine was the first “transgender person to win Senate confirmation,” consistently describing Levine as a woman and heralding his wins as those of women. 
Levine’s spokesman called the name change an “act of bigotry against her,” and Levine himself told NPR, “I&#8217;m not going to comment on this type of petty action.&#8221;
An HHS spokesman said that their &#8220;priority is ensuring that the information presented internally and externally by HHS reflects gold standard science,” telling outlets at the time: “We remain committed to reversing harmful policies enacted by Levine and ensuring that biological reality guides our approach to public health.&#8221;
Asked about the matter, Christine himself brushed the topic off. 
“The bottom line is the name on that plaque is the name that that person was given at their birth on their birth certificate,” he said, adding, “We&#8217;re not focusing on that.”
What he is focused on is righting Levine’s wrongs. He believes that he brings the perspective of a main street physician to the role, one who truly understands healthcare. 
“I want to help the American people understand that … it&#8217;s a new day for health care. Secretary Kennedy promotes science, transparency, honesty, integrity, promotes all the things that my predecessor and the prior president did not,” he said. 
“It&#8217;s wonderful,” he responded. When asked whether he finds the task daunting, “because we have the opportunity to do so much good. We have the opportunity to really help President Trump make America greater than it&#8217;s ever been and to help the secretary make America healthier than it&#8217;s ever been. Doing it with science and truth and integrity and honesty.” 
Americans should expect to see Christine’s office continue to push back against gender ideology. Christine also says his office is heavily involved with the dietary guidelines, sharing that new guidelines will be released in January: “This is going to be taking the very best science and speaking to how we can improve our diets and how we can really make America healthy again.”
There’s more to come, he promised, vowing that his office will not be “taking our foot off the accelerator.” 
As for any media backlash to these intended projects, Christine didn’t seem too worried. 
“I believe we have the science and the integrity to back us up,” he said simply. “The secretary does. The president does. That&#8217;s fine. I&#8217;m in this role. I understood what I was getting into, right? And I&#8217;m proud to be here. I&#8217;m not afraid of that at all.” 
“There&#8217;s always going to be individuals who have an axe to grind who don&#8217;t love our secretary, and they&#8217;re going to make up stories about him and produce fake news,” he added. “We&#8217;re going to tell the truth.”

Meet Admiral Brian Christine, The Man Replacing Biden’s Infamous Trans-Identifying Health Official

A Biden-era health official who identifies as transgender is outraged that the current Department of Health and Human Services has changed his nameplate to showcase his birth name, Richard Levine, instead of his trans-identifying name, Rachel Levine.
On Tuesday, HHS took to X to unapologetically confirm the change, which apparently took place during the Democrat-backed government shutdown.

Levine was upset about the change, calling it &#8220;petty&#8221; and an act of &#8220;bigotry.&#8221;
&#8220;I&#8217;m not going to comment on this type of petty action,&#8221; Levine told NPR.
However, he did respond through a spokesperson. &#8220;During the federal shutdown, the current leadership of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health changed Admiral Levine&#8217;s photo to remove her current legal name and use a prior name,&#8221; Adrian Shanker said, calling the change &#8220;bigotry against her.&#8221;
The current HHS argued that the change better reflects their mission to express &#8220;gold standard science&#8221; at all times.

During his tenure, Levine <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-secretary-levine-dubs-self-agencys-first-female-four-star-officer-in-bizarre-video-highlighting-diversity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">claimed</a> the title of the “first female four-star officer” in a video boasting about “diversity” at HHS. He was also widely criticized for his support of so-called transgender “care” for minors, which opponents highlight is often irreversible and damaging to children.
Additionally, Levine seemed to advocate for the censorship of opposing views on the issue.
“There is substantial misinformation about gender-affirming care for transgender and gender-diverse individuals,” Levine <a href="https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2022/dec/26/dr-rachel-levine-slammed-after-calling-big-tech-cl/">said</a> back in May 2022 during a presentation before the Federation of State Medical Boards in New Orleans.
“We need to get our voices in the public eye, and we know how effective our medical community can be talking to communities, whether it’s at town halls, schools, conversations with others, and we need to use our clinicians’ voice to collectively advocate for our tech companies to create a healthier, cleaner information environment,” Levine added.

Topline: President Donald Trump headed to Europe on Tuesday for high-stakes NATO meetings after he brokered the tenuous ceasefire between Iran and Israel.
Leaders from all 32 members of the NATO alliance and some partner states are attending a two-day <a href="https://www.act.nato.int/activities/nato-summit/">summit</a> in the Netherlands to discuss defense policy and the broader strategy. President Trump’s main goal is to push NATO members to increase their defense budgets. Trump has long lamented that America is being taken advantage of by allies who benefit from our military without paying their fair share. At the moment, NATO members are expected to spend at least 2% of their GDP on defense — Trump wants to raise that to 5%. According to Reuters, &#8220;All NATO members have backed a statement enshrining the target, although Spain declared it does not need to meet the goal and can meet its commitments by spending much less.&#8221;
This is also the first large gathering of world leaders since the president’s strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities on Saturday, and the subsequent ceasefire announced on Monday. On Tuesday morning, hours after the deal went into effect, Iran reportedly launched a series of missiles at Israel, prompting the Israelis to respond with strikes on a radar facility outside of Tehran. For a moment, it looked like the war was back on, but then Trump intervened. With Israeli planes reportedly en route to Iran, the president called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directly with what the White House called an “exceptionally firm and direct” warning to abide by the ceasefire. 
Trump also made a <a href="https://www.timesofisrael.com/liveblog_entry/trump-i-need-israel-to-calm-down-do-not-drop-those-bombs-bring-your-pilots-home-now/">public appeal</a> on social media, writing, “ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!”
Shortly afterward, Netanyahu said he would refrain from further strikes.
While further escalation was avoided, Trump made it clear that he was unhappy with both Israel and Iran.
“We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” Trump <a href="https://x.com/cspan/status/1937468807536169315">told</a> reporters bluntly. “[Iran is] not going to have enrichment and they&#8217;re not going to have a nuclear weapon. They&#8217;re going to get on to being a great trading nation.&#8221;
At the summit, Trump also <a href="https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2025-06-24/trump-nato-summit-iran-israel-putin">quipped</a> about ongoing tensions with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who launched an invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and has been accused of slow-walking the peace negotiations with the United States. “Vladimir called me up – he said ‘do you need help with Iran?’ And I told him ‘I don’t need help with Iran, I need help with you.”

Topline: New Yorkers went to the polls on Tuesday to decide the Democratic candidate for mayor.
The New York City Mayoral Democratic Primary took place on Tuesday, and the former frontrunner has already conceded. With 92% of the vote in, Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani had a 7-point lead over former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, although neither candidate secured a majority, and the official results won’t be tallied until next week. This kind of wait isn’t unusual — it took two weeks for this primary to be decided in 2021, in a large part because New York City uses <a href="https://vote.nyc/page/ranked-choice-voting">ranked-choice voting</a>.
In a ranked choice election, instead of picking one candidate, voters rank candidates in order of preference – if no candidate receives a majority in the first round, then the candidate who received the fewest votes is eliminated and their supporters&#8217; ballots are added to the tally of the candidate who was ranked as their next most preferred choice – the process continuing until one of the candidates has majority support.
There were 11 candidates on the ballot, but in the end, it came down to three: Andrew Cuomo, the former governor who resigned amid allegations of sexual misconduct; New York City comptroller Brad Lander, who received the New York Times’ endorsement; and the apparent rising star of the race, Zohran Mamdani, an state assemblyman from Queens and vocal member of the Democratic Socialists of America. Lander and Mamdani made waves a few weeks ago when they endorsed each other, urging their supporters to put both of them in their top two and not to rank Cuomo.
“We both love New York City, and that’s why it’s so important to not send scandal-ridden, corrupt, Andrew Cuomo to City Hall,” Lander and Mamdani <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GYH_zerPE3M">said</a> in a joint statement. “New Yorkers deserve so much better than a disgraced creep. … Brad and I are officially telling our supporters: rank me number one, rank him number two. Let’s send Andrew Cuomo back to the suburbs.”
Cuomo led the pack in almost every <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/polls/nyc-mayoral-primary-election-polls-2025.html">first-round poll</a>, but the most recent Emerson College survey suggested that Mamdani was only a few points behind and would actually beat Cuomo by 4 points in the final count. Despite conceding the Democratic primary, Cuomo is still free to run as a third-party candidate against Mamdani in the general election.

Topline: The nation’s largest medical association is standing by its controversial guidance to promote transgender medical procedures for minors – despite mounting evidence against it and a landmark Supreme Court ruling.
The American Medical Association (AMA) released a statement signaling against the recent ruling in United States v. Skrmetti, which permits states to ban puberty blockers and other so-called gender-affirming procedures on minors – those procedures have been shown to be damaging and often irreversible. The new president of the AMA, <a href="https://www.fiercehealthcare.com/providers/bobby-mukkamala-sworn-ama-president-william-underwood-iii-chosen-president-elect">Dr. Bobby Mukkamala</a>, condemned the decision and said that “all patients deserve access to high-quality, evidence-based medical care.” He added that decisions about medical treatment “must be made through a shared decision-making process between the patient and their physician.”
The AMA has a significant influence in shaping policy and common medical practices – it has long supported trans procedures for minors. In 2023, it passed a resolution to commit to working with legislators to oppose policies that curb access to these treatments or prioritize parental rights. The resolution also promised collaboration with other organizations to “educate the Federation of State Medical Boards about the importance of gender-affirming care.” The AMA also enthusiastically supported Dr. Rachel Levine’s nomination as Assistant Secretary for Health and Human Services during the Biden era. Notably, Levine – a man who identifies as a woman – is a proponent of many types of trans procedures for minors.
Other major players in the American medical establishment, including the <a href="https://publications.aap.org/aapnews/news/25340/AAP-reaffirms-gender-affirming-care-policy">American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)</a>, the <a href="https://www.endocrine.org/clinical-practice-guidelines/gender-dysphoria-gender-incongruence">Endocrine Society</a>, the American Psychiatric Association, the <a href="https://wpath.org/publications/soc8/">World Professional Association for Transgender Health</a>, the American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American College of Physicians are standing behind their position to support trans procedures for minors.
However, individual medical professionals speak out about this – and now organizations are forming that call for evidence-based medicine. One group called <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/gender-ideology/?gad_source=1&amp;gad_campaignid=20707841002&amp;gbraid=0AAAAAo-mml2sQ9TwnUgwBn1NT5HLq5klM&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjwmenCBhA4EiwAtVjzmuvg61iE0bzkY3AdFxTDzjFXzrKJNEneUCsvx5AOfI8JSZ7LRQu5yxoCM_4QAvD_BwE">Do No Harm</a> has 16,000 members, and one of its stated goals is to “curtail the unscientific and individually harmful practice of so-called ‘gender affirming care.’” Another group, called the “Society for Evidence-Based Gender Medicine,” researches and questions trans procedures for minors. It promotes non-invasive approaches for gender confusion, like psychotherapy.
Since Trump took office, a number of hospitals have announced that they are curtailing or entirely stopping trans procedures for minors. During his second week in office, Trump signed an order saying that the United States would not fund, sponsor, promote, assist, or support gender transitions for children. Under Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., HHS <a href="https://www.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/ocr-rescission-february-20-2025-notice-guidance.pdf">rescinded</a> trans guidance from the Biden administration that promoted these procedures. An April memo from Attorney General Pam Bondi said the DOJ would look at prosecuting doctors for mutilating children under the guise of “trans care.”

Truly wise people have known for a long time that college doesn’t make you smarter – in fact, it usually has the opposite effect. But despite this reality, it’s always a little jarring when an institution of higher learning makes a mistake that any 3-year-old child could identify as wrong.
In today’s episode of You Can’t Make This Up, Smith College, an all-women’s school founded in 1871, just handed an honorary degree to Rachel Levine, a four-star admiral and former Assistant Secretary for Health who also happens to be a man formerly named Richard.
It&#8217;s a big slap in the face to feminists who have been fighting for “women’s rights” since the school’s founding. It’s also an affront to all the normies out there who can plainly view the difference between girls and boys. In the case of Smith College, the school’s entire existence hinges on celebrating women. So, you know, maybe they should be able to identify one. 
But these activists running our elite institutions have long since traded common sense for total fealty to radical Left-wing gender theory proponents. No wonder people have a negative view of college these days.
Women’s rights advocate Riley Gaines, who gained notoriety after speaking out against a male competing as a woman in college swimming, <a href="https://x.com/Riley_Gaines_/status/1924202136625172482" target="_blank" rel="noopener">posted</a> about the controversy on X.
“Smith college, a private *women’s* college in Massachusetts, awarded Rachel (Richard) Levine an honorary degree today,” she said. “He then delivered the commencement address. Ladies, congratulations — your graduation was led by the very thing feminism was allegedly fighting.”
Smith College was actually one of the universities to roll out and develop a formal program for Gender studies! While Smith graduates are drowning in student debt and gender studies degrees, the administration is busy handing out honorary degrees to someone who declares himself to be a woman, regardless of biological reality.

Try to think back, if you can, to the transition period of the Biden-Harris administration. I&#8217;m talking about the personnel decisions — and particularly the key Cabinet appointments — that the incoming administration made in the weeks after the media called the race for Joe Biden, back at the end of 2020.
Those personnel decisions were treated as non-stories. They came and went, and the media didn’t talk much about them. There wasn&#8217;t a lot of outrage or debate. Pete Buttigieg, for example, became the Transportation Secretary because he likes trains and was vaguely interested in airplanes. And he’s gay. Those were his qualifications. So they put him in charge of the Department of Transportation, which has a budget of tens of billions of dollars and oversees the nation&#8217;s railways and airports. Why not? It made sense to Democrats at the time. What&#8217;s the worst that could happen? A train carrying toxic chemicals might derail somewhere in Ohio? What are the odds of that?
And then there was the nomination of Lloyd Austin to lead the Defense Department. That was really inspiring. You see, Lloyd Austin was serving on the board of Raytheon, one of the biggest defense contractors in the world. Raytheon was paying him a lot of money. And then, without much fanfare, the Biden-Harris administration appointed Lloyd Austin to run the Pentagon. What could go wrong? Surely Lloyd Austin wouldn&#8217;t try to enrich his former colleagues in the defense industry by, say, sending billions of dollars worth of weaponry to a tiny, corrupt country in Eastern Europe. That would be unthinkable.
And then there was the appointment of someone using the name Rachel Levine — a biological male originally named Richard who decided in middle age to start wearing a dress and rebrand himself as Rachel. It made perfect sense, we were told, for a man deeply confused about the basic realities of human biology to oversee the nation&#8217;s healthcare system. Sure, he might pressure hospitals to castrate and sterilize as many children as possible. He might pose for some uncomfortable photographs with Sam Brinton, the cross-dressing nuclear waste expert and kleptomaniac who’d been terrorizing airport baggage claims all across the Eastern seaboard for years, before also being appointed for a role in the Biden Administration. But that&#8217;s the cost of human progress, the transition team told us.

I&#8217;m going through these appointments to make a couple of points. The first point is that all of these appointments — and many others like them, including the appointment of an open-borders advocate to run the Department of Homeland Security — were grotesque. None of them should have been allowed to go through. But they did, and the country paid the predictable consequences. Biden appointed more cross dressers that we’d been used to seeing in government at that point, but otherwise his picks were exactly what we’ve come to expect. A bunch of corrupt and useless bureaucrats, who went on to do what corrupt and useless bureaucrats always do.
Thankfully, it’s clear that Donald Trump is not going to follow that typical strategy. Donald Trump&#8217;s incoming administration is already unlike any other in American history. This is a transition team that&#8217;s making a concerted effort to select competent, independent Cabinet officials — people who aren&#8217;t self-interested cronies, or morons who are selected on the basis of identity politics. He’s picking people who are actually competent and who might actually advance the agenda that the American people voted for. Imagine that.
Let&#8217;s start with one of the selections that was announced last night. Donald Trump revealed that Pete Hegseth, a Bronze Star recipient who served nearly two decades in the military — including in Iraq and Afghanistan — will be nominated as Secretary of Defense. 
Hegseth is most recognizable at the moment as a Fox News host, where he often advocates on behalf of veterans. He&#8217;s also used his platform to outline changes that, in his view, need to be made to the military immediately. Watch:

This is all common-sense stuff. The overwhelming majority of countries don&#8217;t allow women in combat roles, for obvious reasons. And no, the military shouldn&#8217;t be teaching its soldiers about &#8220;white rage,&#8221; nor should the Pentagon be focused on recruiting girl bosses or &#8220;diverse&#8221; applicants. That strategy <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-military-is-collapsing-under-the-weight-of-its-own-wokeness">isn&#8217;t working</a>. The military is now regularly <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-military-is-collapsing-under-the-weight-of-its-own-wokeness">missing</a> its recruitment goals primarily because they&#8217;ve gone out of their way to alienate white men for political reasons. As a result, our military is much smaller than China&#8217;s. Morale is terrible. We&#8217;re constantly losing war games, as Hegseth pointed out. And making matters worse, our military leaders are clearly inept, as evidenced by the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan.
With this track record, the absolute last person you&#8217;d want to pick for the job of Defense Secretary is another Lloyd Austin. The Lloyd Austins of the world are the ones who created the very situation that Hegseth was talking about in the clip. That’s why you need someone who&#8217;s motivated and equipped to make some radical changes. You want someone who knows what it&#8217;s like to be a soldier in a warzone, and who hasn&#8217;t been corrupted by his connections to the military-industrial complex. In short, you want someone like Pete Hegseth.
As you&#8217;d expect, Democrats don&#8217;t see it that way. They lost their minds when Trump briefly paused the flow of military weapons to Ukraine, and now they&#8217;re losing their minds because Pete Hegseth might spurn the defense industry, too. Elizabeth Warren, the senator from Massachusetts, was particularly enraged. She was sneering last night, along with a lot of her colleagues. She <a href="https://x.com/SenWarren/status/1856502912551158049">wrote</a>: &#8220;A Fox &amp; Friends weekend co-host is not qualified to be the Secretary of Defense. I lead the Senate military personnel panel. All three of my brothers served in uniform. I respect every one of our servicemembers. Donald Trump’s pick will make us less safe and must be rejected.&#8221;
So right away, the woman who pretended to be an Indian tries to dismiss Hegseth as a &#8220;weekend co-host.&#8221; She completely ignores his military service, his ideas, and his advocacy for veterans. We&#8217;re supposed to believe that, if Hegseth had served on the board of Raytheon, he would somehow be vastly more equipped for the job. We apparently want Defense Secretaries who are bureaucrats or defense contractors. Because that has obviously worked out so well over the past three decades.
And in the context of a second Trump administration, the criticisms of Pete Hegseth make even less sense. Recall that, under the first Trump administration, the Pentagon actively sabotaged Trump&#8217;s policy objectives. Our envoy to Syria has admitted this. It&#8217;s one of the most incredible admissions ever printed, but it never got much attention. The envoy stated that officials in the first Trump administration <a href="https://theohiostar.com/news/special-representative-for-syria-james-jeffrey-we-were-always-playing-shell-games-to-hide-the-number-of-u-s-troops-in-syria/ohstarstaff/2020/11/16/">were</a>, &#8220;always playing shell games&#8221; in order to hide the actual number of U.S. troops in Syria from Trump.” That&#8217;s an actual quote — &#8220;shell games.&#8221; In other words, they were lying to the commander in chief. Trump wanted troops to leave Syria, and they told him the troops were gone. And it wasn&#8217;t true.
People should&#8217;ve been put on trial for that. But it just faded from memory. Given that background, you can understand why — this time around — Trump wants someone he can actually depend upon. He wants to work with people he can trust. That&#8217;s the single most important quality that a Cabinet pick can have. And that&#8217;s very obvious to Trump now, after what he experienced in his first term.
But Democrats are still going to resist this nomination anyway, for reasons that they can&#8217;t even articulate. They just know that it would be a disaster for them if an outsider took control of the Defense Department. 
That&#8217;s why one of CNN&#8217;s hosts tried to push back on Scott Jennings&#8217; arguments for Hegseth last night. Watch:

For starters, it&#8217;s pretty amusing — as Jennings points out — for television pundits to attack Hegseth for being a &#8220;TV host,&#8221; when they&#8217;re all television personalities too. Either being on television makes you an idiot, or it doesn&#8217;t. And if it does, then all of these people should quit their jobs now, before CNN closes down and fires them anyway (which appears more likely to happen with each passing day).
And then the anchor says that civilians give the orders in the military, which is obviously true. But it&#8217;s the Pentagon — which is also run by civilians — that has the job of carrying out those orders. And as Jennings pointed out, the Pentagon has repeatedly failed to do its job. They were wrong about the spy balloon and what it was doing. They were wrong about the logistics of the Afghanistan pullout, which resulted in the deaths of American servicemembers. They couldn&#8217;t even build a pier properly. So what exactly is the argument for keeping these kinds of people in control of the Defense Department? How could we possibly do any worse than they&#8217;ve been doing?
That&#8217;s a point that Tom Homan, the incoming border czar, just made on Fox News. He was asked whether he was worried about having the title of &#8220;border czar,&#8221; given that Kamala Harris has done everything she can to run away from that title. Here&#8217;s how Homan responded:

That pretty much sums up the entire transition so far.
We&#8217;re so used to administration officials who lie to us — who try to use emotional blackmail and manipulation — that it&#8217;s pretty much impossible to be disappointed by the incoming Trump administration at this point. Just by demonstrating that they don&#8217;t care about the media&#8217;s manipulation and false narratives, they&#8217;re already well ahead of their predecessors.
It&#8217;s also clear that the federal bureaucracy, which functioned to undermine Trump at every possible opportunity, isn&#8217;t going to exist in the same form the second time around. Last night Trump officially announced that Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will be running the Department of Government Efficiency, (DOGE). Trump said the goal of this new department will be to &#8220;dismantle Government Bureaucracy, slash excess regulations, cut wasteful expenditures, and restructure Federal Agencies.&#8221; He said they&#8217;ll be done within two years — what he called the &#8220;perfect gift to America on the 250th Anniversary of The Declaration of Independence.&#8221;

The task of &#8220;dismantling government bureaucracy&#8221; should be the number-one focus of Trump&#8217;s second term. And Elon Musk is just the guy to do it. He showed up to Twitter and immediately axed 80% of the staff. Everyone in the media said it would destroy the company. They said the whole site would crash and be forgotten. And yet, here we are. Two years later, the place is running better than ever. The problem in the federal government is like Twitter, multiplied by a million.
Unlike every other company on the planet, the federal government doesn&#8217;t undergo layoffs. It just grows and grows, year after year. It siphons more and more money from taxpayers, without any accountability. These bureaucrats call themselves &#8220;public servants,&#8221; but really the public is serving them. We&#8217;re the ones who go to work every day to pay their salaries. And what exactly do they do for us? Do we really need these people to spend tens of thousands of dollars on &#8220;gender equity&#8221; in places like Honduras? Do we need them to develop new bat coronaviruses in secret labs in Wuhan? Do we need them to use our money to subsidize some of the most useless college degrees in existence? Do we need them to conduct fraudulent criminal trials of the leading presidential candidate? Do we need them to issue insane new regulations banning the sale of gas-powered vehicles?
Of course we don&#8217;t. We&#8217;ve never needed any of that.
What we have needed, for a long time now, is for the government to get out of the way of human progress. They need to stop spending and printing money as if it&#8217;s endless. They need to do what every American in the private sector has to do, which is to justify their salaries. They need to explain how exactly they&#8217;re serving the public, instead of the other way around.
This is a reckoning that would&#8217;ve been unthinkable if Kamala Harris had won this election. We&#8217;d be dealing with another parade of useless, BIPOC-transgender-whatever appointees who exist only to check boxes. Now things are different. And giving Musk and Ramaswamy the hacksaw with a directive to go to town on the federal bureaucracy means that maybe, for the first time ever, some real and substantial cuts will actually be made. No Republican president in modern times has ever actually done anything to cut the size of government. Much less have they taken any steps to gut the federal bureaucracy and get rid of all the useless people and their useless departments and programs. In fact, Republicans have only contributed to the problem.
There is good reason to think that this time will be different. Trump has picked the two right guys for the job. Which is why the federal bureaucrats are panicking, and their panic will only become more unhinged in the days ahead.
For everyone else — for people who actually earn their living — it&#8217;s a time to celebrate something that&#8217;s never happened before in modern American history. The behemoth federal bureaucracy is about to get what it deserves. What’s been coming to it for decades.
If Trump fulfills his promises and simply lets the people he’s hiring do the jobs they’ve been hired to do, it will mean ultimately that America becomes a freer, safer, more prosperous place. If this is the &#8220;fascism&#8221; they warned us about, it can&#8217;t come soon enough.

Judicial Watch is suing the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/biden-administration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Biden-Harris administration</a> in order to receive documents on the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) promotion of transgender sex change operations for minors.
The suit comes after Judicial Watch filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in early July requesting documents pertaining to HHS Assistant Secretary Admiral Rachel Levine’s involvement in pressuring a health organization to drop age requirements for sex change procedures. HHS failed to respond to the FOIA request, Judicial Watch says.
“Judicial Watch announced today it filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) <a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/documents/09-17-24-hhs-child-trans-surgery-complaint-02588/">lawsuit</a> against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,” the organization <a href="https://www.judicialwatch.org/transgender-surgeries-for-minors/">stated</a> in a press release, adding that the suit seeks “all records of communications of Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine regarding pressure put on an international group of medical experts to remove age limit guidelines on transgender procedures.”
“Biden-Harris appointee Admiral Levine, who abused power and is notorious for promoting transgender extremist policies, promoted mutilating surgeries for minors,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton contended. “It is no wonder the Biden-Harris administration wants to cover this up with unlawful secrecy. Judicial Watch’s lawsuit to expose the truth is urgently needed to protect children.”
The lawsuit to procure the documents comes after The Daily Wire <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/biden-admins-rachel-levine-met-with-wpath-as-he-pushed-for-removal-of-trans-surgery-age-restrictions">reported</a> that Levine, a man who identifies as a woman, met with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), and urged the organization to drop age requirements from its standards of care document.

One member of Levine’s staff warned WPATH that age requirements could contribute to “devastating legislation for trans care,” going on to say that Levine “wonders if the specific ages can be taken out.”
Another email, this one from WPATH, thanked Levine for meeting with the organization and explained that it decided to remove the age requirements upon the transgender government official’s request.
“We heard your comments regarding the minimal age criteria… Consequently, we have made changes to the SOC8 in this respect… They are now not a recommendation from the SOC-8 anymore,” the email reads.
“Assistant Secretary Levine … influence[d] the substantive content of SOC-8 [Standards of Care], based on political goals rather than science,” Psychologist Dr. James Cantor said while providing testimony during <a href="https://zwly9k6z.r.us-east-1.awstrack.me/L0/https:%2F%2Fstorage.courtlistener.com%2Frecap%2Fgov.uscourts.almd.77755%2Fgov.uscourts.almd.77755.591.24.pdf/1/01000192108df539-fb9e0657-13a3-4cd4-add0-9c465c8e5560-000000/XCbfdNCVBhEUD0L2JX-lWRdFu74=392">legal proceedings</a> that uncovered communications between the HHS official and WPATH. “Specifically, Assistant Secretary Levine, through a staff member, pressured WPATH to remove recommended minimum ages for medical transition treatments from SOC-8.”
Dr. Stanley Goldfarb, the Chairman of <a href="https://donoharmmedicine.org/">Do No Harm</a>, similarly criticized Levine, also tearing into WPATH for prioritizing politics over health.
“The collusion between WPATH and the administration through Rachel Levine is turning into one of the most disturbing medical scandals of this generation,” Goldfarb told The Daily Wire after the relationship between Levine and WPATH became public. “These documents reveal WPATH knowingly put political considerations over the health and safety of children, destroying what little credibility they once had. Newly uncovered communications reveal that the Biden administration and Rachel Levine of Health and Human Services had an even greater role in removing age restrictions from guidance on the performance of sex change operations than previously known, with the Biden official personally meeting with the organization in charge of drafting the document, leading to concerns about political interference.
A <a href="https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-officials-pushed-drop-age-limit-trans-surgeries-minors-report">recent report</a> found that the staff of Levine, a man who identifies as a woman, was in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/trans-identifying-biden-official-allegedly-behind-push-to-ditch-age-guidelines-for-transgender-procedures-docs-show">contact with members</a> of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH), urging them to remove age restrictions from guidance on sex change operations. These <a href="https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.almd.77755/gov.uscourts.almd.77755.591.24.pdf">new documents</a> show that Levine was more involved than previously understood and personally met with WPATH leadership as he lobbied the organization.
“I just got off a very productive call with Rachel Levine,” Joshua Safer, the Executive Director of the Mount Sinai Center for Transgender Medicine and Surgery in New York, wrote in an August 12, 2021, email to WPATH staffers, including its Marci Bowers, who is currently the group&#8217;s president. “The failure of WPATH to be ready with SOC 8 is proving a barrier to optimal policy progress and she was eager to learn when SOC 8 might be published.”
“My view is that this should be taken as a charge from the United States government to do what is required to complete the project immediately,” Safer went on to say.
An August 19, 2021, email in which both the sender and recipient were redacted said, “I really want to push this agenda forward VERY STRONGLY. At the end of the day the SOC8 will significantly improve the lives of millions of trans people and their families globally. I am meeting with Rachel Levine and her team next week, as the US Department of Health is very keen to bring the trans health agenda forward. I want to make absolutely sure that the commitments we make on behalf of WPATH are real and achievable.”
On July 2, reacting to “Some feedback from a member of Adm Levine’s staff,” WPATH’s Walter Bouman found it “disturbing” to encounter political interference in what he viewed as a medical process. “Just read the email trail, which I found disturbing for a number of reasons…. It is not appropriate to take any feedback from a nonmedical professional seriously… if Washington does not want to launch the SOC8 we’ll do it in Brussels at the European Union.”
But six weeks later, Bouman seemed to make peace with it. On August 21, he wrote, “What was agreed in the past, may be obsolete in the present. We will discuss this in the Board and get back to you; and i will check what Rachel Levine’s point of view is on these issues.” Meanwhile, one WPATH Executive Committee Agenda includes the note, “Dr. Rachel Levine Meeting Update.”

Other emails show Levine’s staff pressuring WPATH to remove the guidelines, with one WPATH member asking for the minimum ages to be removed, lest they contribute to &#8220;devastating legislation for trans care.&#8221;
&#8220;She wonders if the specific ages can be taken out,&#8221; the email reads. Levine’s requests were met with some pushback from WPATH. “I am a little surprised that we would be asked to do this after all the care and endless discussions by experts to reach this consensus on ages for surgeries. Is Sarah a clinician or surgeon?” one member of WPATH wrote, referencing Levine’s then-chief of staff.
Despite some pushback, Levine and his staff successfully lobbied to remove age restrictions in the new guidelines, with WPATH directly crediting their removal to Levine’s efforts. On August 5, 2022, an email from WPATH, apparently to Levine’s office, said, “It was a pleasure to meet with you and your staff on Tuesday 26 July to discuss the SOC8. We appreciate your constructive comments and are fully aware how certain aspects of the SOC8 will affect the lives of many TGD people and their families in the US. More specifically we heard your comments regarding the minimal age criteria… Consequently, we have made changes to the SOC8 in this respect… They are now not a recommendation from the SOC-8 anymore, but they have been written only as suggested minimal ages.”
An email suggested that Levine&#8217;s actions to influence WPATH were designed to prevent negative media coverage.
“It doesn’t give them the headline. Less direct focus on age. I mean, we have a very high up politician telling us that having the ages specified front and center would politically lead to more attacks and legislative efforts,” a WPATH committee co-lead wrote.
But the change was just window dressing as they planned to move the ages to an “appendix” where they would be less “obvious.”
“We’re still recommending medical interventions for minors,” one comment said.

A White House <a href="https://x.com/leorsapir/status/1806432402144690578?s=46&amp;t=Ry4tRhue8IunLXZ29eEvrg" target="_blank" rel="noopener">spokesman said</a> plainly that “the Administration does not support surgery for minors” on Wednesday in a comment that came amid a broader controversy surrounding the use of sex change interventions on children.
The statement puts the White House at odds with numerous Democrat states and transgender activist organizations, both of which have waged a campaign to ensure the availability of sex change operations to children. The Supreme Court is <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/supreme-court-agrees-to-consider-state-ban-on-transgender-medical-procedures-for-children" target="_blank" rel="noopener">set to consider</a> a Tennessee law that would ban gender surgeries for minors, as well as the administration of puberty blockers and cross-sex hormone treatments. The decision could have serious implications for the <a href="https://www.tennessean.com/story/opinion/columnists/david-plazas/2024/06/25/supreme-court-gender-affirming-care-bans-transgender-rights/74198839007/">24 other states</a> that have passed similar laws that seek to protect children from irreversible medical interventions intended to modify sex appearance.

&#8220;She wonders if the specific ages can be taken out,&#8221; an email from a WPATH member reads. A separate email explained that Levine &#8220;was very concerned that having ages (mainly for surgery) will affect access to care for trans youth and maybe adults, too.”
&#8220;Apparently the situation in the U.S.A. is terrible and she and the Biden administration worried that having ages in the document will make matters worse. She asked us to remove them,&#8221; the email reads.
WPATH publishes a “standards of care” document, with the 2021 draft originally suggesting various different age limits depending on the procedure, such as 17 for genital surgeries or hysterectomies, 16 for breast augmentation or facial surgeries, 15 for mastectomies and 14 for hormonal treatments. The final 2022 WPATH document did not include any age limits, however.
President Joe Biden previously spoke out against states that have banned transgender medical interventions for minors, ranging from puberty blocker administration to surgical operations, referencing the pieces of legislation in a <a class="c-link c-link--focus-visible" href="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/05/17/statement-from-president-joe-biden-on-international-day-against-homophobia-biphobia-and-transphobia/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer" data-stringify-link="https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefing-room/statements-releases/2023/05/17/statement-from-president-joe-biden-on-international-day-against-homophobia-biphobia-and-transphobia/" data-sk="tooltip_parent">2023 statement</a> that claimed “more than 600 hateful laws have been introduced this year targeting the LGBTQI+ community, particularly youth.”
The administration even <a href="https://www.scotusblog.com/2024/01/biden-administration-families-ask-justices-to-roll-back-state-restrictions-on-transgender-care-for-minors/">intervened</a> in a case concerning Tennessee&#8217;s law banning transgender medical interventions for minors, coming down on the side of families who sued the state in an attempt to prevent the law from going into effect.

According to a recently unsealed court document, a <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/topic/transgender" target="_blank" rel="noopener">trans-identifying</a> Biden official was allegedly behind the push to remove age limits from the official care standards for transgender procedures.
The <a href="https://jessesingal.substack.com/p/unsealed-court-documents-show-that" target="_blank" rel="noopener">document in question</a>, unsealed as part of <a href="https://www.courtlistener.com/docket/63252064/eknes-tucker-v-ivey/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boe v. Marshall</a> — a case challenging the Alabama law banning certain gender transition-related treatments and procedures — was titled &#8220;Appendix A To Supplemental Expert Report Of James Cantor, Ph.D.&#8221; In the document, Cantor — a Canadian sex researcher — claimed that trans-identifying Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine pushed for the age restrictions to be removed from any official guidelines.
&#8220;Assistant Secretary for Health Dr. Rachel Levine strongly pressured WPATH leadership to rush the development and issuance of SOC-8, in order to assist with Administration political strategy,&#8221; Cantor wrote of the changes to World Professional Association for Transgender Health’s <a href="https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/pdf/10.1080/26895269.2022.2100644" rel="">Standards of Care Version 8</a> — which omitted previous age recommendations.
The document also included evidence — in the form of communications between WPATH members — that pointed back to Levine as the source of pressure. Most suggested that Levine, born Richard Levine, was pushing to do away with any age limits that could make it easier for states to restrict access to transition-related puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and even surgeries.

Levine subsequently mocked the critics in an interview with <a href="https://www.advocate.com/news/rachel-levine-transgender-biden-administration">The Advocate</a>, saying, “I felt that it was faux outrage. It was manufactured &#8230; It’s just that this Sunday was Easter, which is a very important holiday and very important event, and it also just happened to be the 31st.”

Levine then cited the iconic &#8220;Star Wars&#8221; films, declaring that the critics were, in reality, afraid: “You know there’s a quote from Yoda &#8230; Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.”
“This is not a social contagion phenomenon, and we’ve been around forever, hiding in the closet. So, the ability in our society now is not to be in the closet. We need to foster that and to nurture that,” Levine insisted.

Rachel Levine Mocks Critics Who Slammed Biden For Celebrating ‘Transgender Day Of Visibility’ On Easter

When he was nominated to be the Assistant Secretary for Health three years ago, Richard Levine (who, in his 50s, began using the name Rachel Levine) was asked a series of questions by Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. Paul wanted to know why Levine, as a medical professional, wouldn&#8217;t reject the idea of mutilating the genitals of minors in the name of &#8220;gender affirming care.&#8221; 
Here&#8217;s how the conversation went:

That&#8217;s just a portion of the whole exchange. In the full clip, Levine evades the question multiple times. He just repeats the same rehearsed answer: He says that he&#8217;s more than happy to stop by Paul&#8217;s office at some later date to explain the &#8220;complex&#8221; science behind mutilating children. They go back and forth until Paul finally has to give up. And then at the end of it, as you saw, Democratic Senator Patty Murray from Washington congratulates Levine on his &#8220;thoughtful and medical informed&#8221; answers to Paul.
Ten years ago, this would&#8217;ve been a scene from a dark comedy sketch about a dystopia that&#8217;s just too far-fetched to imagine in real life. This should have been the moment that Levine was disqualified from ever holding public office, much less becoming a senior official in the Department of Health and Human Services. But Democrats and even some Republicans — including Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska — didn&#8217;t see a problem with Levine&#8217;s answer. They voted to confirm Levine after hearing this. These are sitting U.S. senators who, evidently, have no problem with the fact that Levine supports the physical castration of children — even though he could present no evidence that it&#8217;s medically appropriate.

To be clear, Senator Paul was not misrepresenting Levine&#8217;s position in any way. This was not a &#8220;gotcha&#8221; question. Emails unearthed by Megan Brock show that in 2017, when he was the Secretary of Health in Pennsylvania, Levine went looking for data to justify so-called &#8220;gender-affirming care&#8221; for minors. 
Levine <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1310-the-government-accidentally-confirms-that-it-has-absolutely-no-evidence-to-support-so-called-gender-affirming-care-for-minors-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">wrote</a> to Nadia Dowshen, the co-founder of the gender clinic at the Children&#8217;s Hospital of Philadelphia, that he was seeking information concerning, &#8220;the possibility of gender confirmation surgery for young people under 18 years of age.&#8221; Levine added that, &#8220;This could include top surgery for trans young men and top and bottom surgery for trans young women. Is there any literature to support this protocol? Please let me know if you have any references.&#8221;
In response, Dowshen wrote, “Hi Rachel, I&#8217;m not aware of existing literature but it is certainly happening. I think we&#8217;ve had more than 10 patients who have had chest surgery under 18 (as young as 15) and 1 bottom surgery (17).&#8221;
Needless to say, after reading that response, Levine did not put an end to these surgeries in Pennsylvania, even when he was told there was no medical evidence to justify them. Instead, Levine continued to hide behind the consensus of various self-appointed medical experts, including the several medical associations that have endorsed this butchery. That&#8217;s what Levine did at the hearing with Rand Paul. And it&#8217;s what he&#8217;s done ever since he assumed office.
A little over a year ago, for example, Levine commented on a viral clip featuring Jon Stewart and the attorney general of Arkansas. I&#8217;ll play a little bit of it to provide some context for what Levine said:

You can see in that clip why the &#8220;appeal to experts&#8221; is so effective. Even people who are on the right side of this issue, like the Arkansas attorney general, don&#8217;t know how to respond to it. The best she can do is say, &#8220;well, my experts disagree with your experts.&#8221; But of course that&#8217;s the wrong response. The right response is that you don&#8217;t need to be an &#8220;expert&#8221; in anything to know that mutilating the genitals of children is wrong. And if anyone claims to be an expert and defends that butchery, then they lose &#8220;expert status&#8221; immediately. It&#8217;s that simple. But for some reason, many on the Right can&#8217;t bring themselves to say that, even as the &#8220;experts&#8221; lie to them about pretty much everything — from COVID to foreign affairs to climate change and even to the mutilation of children.
In any event, Levine saw that clip, and decided it was yet another opportunity to promote these all-knowing medical associations and experts. Here&#8217;s what Levine <a href="https://x.com/HHS_ASH/status/1580277406820012032?s=20">wrote</a> on Twitter: &#8220;Accredited medical professional groups agree that gender-affirming care is medically necessary, safe, and effective for trans and non-binary youth. States should translate this knowledge into more compassionate policies that protect rather than undermine youth mental health.&#8221;

This is a bluff that Levine has made over and over again, throughout his career. He repeatedly states that there&#8217;s a vast body of &#8220;knowledge&#8221; that justifies these surgeries and procedures. But this time, after that tweet, someone decided to call Levine out on it.
A nonprofit watchdog group called &#8220;Protect the Public&#8217;s Trust,&#8221; or PPT, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/hhs-says-it-has-only-two-pages-of-scientific-evidence-backing-its-support-for-gender-affirming-care">filed</a> a Freedom of Information Act request in response to Levine&#8217;s tweet. The request sought &#8220;records of scientific evidence, studies, and/or data to support the Assistant Secretary’s claim that ‘gender-affirming care is medically necessary, safe, and effective for trans and non-binary youth,&#8217;” as well as “records of surveys of medical professionals regarding the value and importance of ‘gender-affirming care’ for minor children.&#8221;
This week, more than a year after Levine&#8217;s tweet, the results are in. We finally have access to this data that Levine promised to show Rand Paul in his office, and which he talks about constantly. In response to the Freedom of Information Act Request, HHS produced a grand total of just one document. And it&#8217;s not a long, well-researched study that proves convincingly why we need to mutilate children. Instead, it&#8217;s a <a href="https://opa.hhs.gov/sites/default/files/2023-08/gender-affirming-care-young-people.pdf">two-page</a> brochure called “Gender-Affirming Care and Young People.” This is all they could produce a year later to support their position.
And the brochure itself isn&#8217;t exactly the most compelling document. The brochure states, as a matter of fact, that puberty blockers are always reversible. But that&#8217;s not true. As even the New York Times <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1310-the-government-accidentally-confirms-that-it-has-absolutely-no-evidence-to-support-so-called-gender-affirming-care-for-minors-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reported</a> recently, &#8220;A transgender adolescent in Sweden who took the drugs from age 11 to 14 with no bone scans until the last year of treatment developed osteoporosis and sustained a compression fracture in his spine, an X-ray showed in 2021. &#8230; &#8216;The patient now suffers from continued back pain,&#8217; medical records note, describing a &#8216;permanent disability&#8217; caused by the blockers.”
And that&#8217;s not even getting into potential <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1310-the-government-accidentally-confirms-that-it-has-absolutely-no-evidence-to-support-so-called-gender-affirming-care-for-minors-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issues</a> with fertility. There are documented cases in medical literature of these drugs having permanent effects, and they&#8217;ve only been in use for a few years.
So the claim in the brochure, which has no citation, is completely false. As more and more children are put on these &#8220;puberty blockers,&#8221; and as time passes, that will be obvious to everyone.
But the brochure provided by the Biden administration doesn&#8217;t stop there. It also claims that, “research demonstrates that gender-affirming care improves the mental health and overall well-being of gender-diverse children.” And as evidence of that claim, the brochure cites one study in a footnote.
This <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/ep-1310-the-government-accidentally-confirms-that-it-has-absolutely-no-evidence-to-support-so-called-gender-affirming-care-for-minors-member-exclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">single study</a>, The Daily Wire&#8217;s Luke Rosiak reported yesterday, supposedly &#8220;showed that transgender-identifying young people were slightly less suicidal when receiving treatment.&#8221; Specifically, the researchers say that they found in a survey group that 51% of trans-identifying young people who were receiving cross-sex hormones were suicidal, compared to 62% who weren’t receiving hormones but wanted them. But even the authors of this study admit that it doesn&#8217;t prove anything about causation. They write, &#8220;causation cannot be inferred due to the study’s cross-sectional design. It is possible that those who historically have higher rates of depression and suicidal thoughts and behaviors are also less able to seek or obtain [cross-sex hormones].&#8221;
This also says absolutely nothing about the long term psychological effects of this “treatment.” They offer no evidence, no research, on that question. None at all. This is the sum total of the evidence that the Biden administration was able to present to justify the castration of children. It&#8217;s a two-page pamphlet that links to a study from three years ago, in which the authors admit that their study doesn&#8217;t even mean anything. This is definitive proof — as if we needed it — that the Biden administration and the medical establishment, along with the entire American Left, jumped on board the &#8220;gender affirming care&#8221; racket without any solid evidentiary basis for doing so.
That is a major problem, obviously, because they are harming children in horrific, unthinkable ways. But also because the burden of proof, for the people in favor of child castration, is especially high. Like I’ve explained many times, the burden of proof is on the people who came along claiming that we can turn boys into girls and vice versa. As they are the ones making an extraordinary claim that contradicts what everyone in the history of the world has always known to be true, they needed to have extraordinary evidence to support their position. Instead they had no evidence at all. Nothing. 
Yet they were believed automatically, while the sane side was required to produce evidence refuting them. Suddenly the burden of proof was on us to prove that you shouldn’t mutilate and castrate children. Of course, we can prove our case a million times over, and we have, but the game was rigged against us from the start. The pro-child castraters wanted documented research showing the actual real world harm of these procedures on kids. But obviously we couldn’t immediately provide very much of that because we didn&#8217;t yet have real world data showing the harm that these drugs would do to kids, for the simple reason that nobody had ever done this to kids before. So they turned a whole generation of kids into lab rats. The kids themselves would become the data.
The only way to explain how anyone fell for this scam is that trans activists are good at one thing, which is emotional manipulation. They perfected the art of emotional blackmail to the point that weak people have allowed this to go on for the better part of a decade. But the ruse isn&#8217;t working anymore. Now people are asking to see the evidence, and there isn&#8217;t any. All trans activists can do is screech as loudly as they can about &#8220;genocide,&#8221; even though no one&#8217;s buying it anymore. We saw this phenomenon play out to a comical degree this week in Florida, which is preparing to pass a bill that would <a href="https://flvoicenews.com/bill-requiring-biological-sex-on-drivers-licenses-pushes-forward-this-is-about-biology/">prevent</a> people from changing their gender on their driver&#8217;s license. Watch how the completely calm and rational local trans activists and concerned citizens responded to this legislation:

No matter what the proposal is — whether it&#8217;s mutilating the genitals of children, or changing the gender on their driver&#8217;s license — the response is always the same. They claim you&#8217;re leaving a &#8220;trail of dead bodies&#8221; if you dare to disagree with their delusions.
Trans activists wield their emotional fragility like a bludgeon. We see it constantly, which leads to the conclusion that one of two things is possible. Either it&#8217;s an act and they&#8217;re really just manipulative liars and therefore shouldn&#8217;t be taken seriously, or they actually are this insanely unstable and weak and immature and therefore shouldn’t be taken seriously. Whichever is the case, or if it’s a combination of the two, the conclusion is the same: we cannot take these people seriously. And we never should have.
