During his show Wednesday, Daily Wire host Matt Walsh dug deep into the largest association of pediatricians in the country, arguing that far-left transgender activists disguised as medical professionals have captured the entire pediatric field.
After releasing his viral documentary “What Is A Woman?” Walsh has set himself on a mission to stand up against those who wish to erase the traditional understanding of gender and redefine the basic terminology of biological sex.
Last week, he discussed how whistleblowers from the American Academy of Pediatrics, which covers some 67,000 members, revealed the organization promotes “scant and shoddy” evidence to medically transition children.
Walsh began Wednesday’s show with a TikTok video posted by a California father who said he took his 3-year-old son to the doctor for a routine checkup. Without skipping a beat, the pediatrician asked the young boy whether he was a boy or a girl — despite the chart in the doctor’s hand that listed the child’s gender, the father explained.
The 3-year-old boy seemed to understand obvious tenets of biology and gender more than the educated doctor.
That experience exemplifies how pediatricians nationwide “are building a case basically that your child is trans,” Walsh said.
“What that father confronted — and what so many other parents have confronted in so many other doctor’s offices across the country — is the tip of an extremely large iceberg that stretches down into a very dark sea,” he added.
According to the pediatrician association’s website, a policy statement from 2018 lays out how the organization ensures “care and support for transgender and gender-diverse children and adolescents.” The statement also includes a lengthy gender theory manifesto, puberty blocker information, and the so-called “gender-affirmative care” trend within the transgender community.
“Worse,” said Walsh, “the statement provides a sort of glossary where the definitions of meaningless terms” — adding “wild and often incoherent assertions” — are not rooted in science, but in ideology.
The statement pushes the narrative further by pointing parents and children toward an activist pamphlet called “The Gender Book.” The book illustrates resources highlighting core terms and concepts pushed by the authors, who once sang a song of appreciation for 27 different countries that adopted the text.
Walsh said they sound like a dozen cats drowning in a river.
The association has also recently published its so-called gender book, “You-ology: A Puberty Guide For Every Body,” which promotes the idea of transgender, non-binary, and gender diverse ideology on children.
Co-author Kathryn Lowe, an LGBTQ+ advocate and board-certified pediatrician, appeared on a podcast by the association about why medical professionals cannot determine a baby’s gender while inside the mother’s womb.
“When people are pregnant — when we’re doing prenatal ultrasounds, and we’re saying it’s a boy or it’s a girl — really, we are referring to that baby’s genitals,” Lowe said. “And what we see and we often call that a baby’s sex assigned at birth, and that’s actually different than gender.”
“So we actually aren’t able to know a baby’s gender identity prenatally,” she added. “We can know their genitals, and we assign a sex according to those body parts — but that really isn’t gender.”
Lowe said that whether the person’s “gender identity” is male, female, or a little bit of both, or neither — “it’s an internal, core sense of who you are as a person.”
Moira Szilagyi, president of the academy, recently denounced an op-ed published by The Wall Street Journal in which the authors criticized a study by the organization that claimed social contagion does not contribute to the rising trend of transgender youth. The president also pushed back against claims that the organization promotes transitioning the biological sex of children.
Szilagyi stated that the organization “doesn’t push medical treatments or surgery,” but rather “for the vast majority of children, it recommends the opposite,” the National Review reported.
With the pediatric health care industry essentially run by transgender activists masquerading as the nation’s preeminent authority, Walsh warned parents to “exercise extraordinary caution” when taking their child in for a checkup or for any other medical issue.
“We must not blindly trust any of these people,” Walsh said. “They do not have your child’s interests at heart, or at least you certainly cannot assume that they do.”
However, Walsh emphasized that safe and trustworthy pediatricians who abide by the Hippocratic Oath to do no harm still exist.
“Still, he’s part of a system that is run by radical leftists, which views trans activism as the primary responsibility of the health care industry,” he said. “Even the good doctors are hostages, and your child is the ransom.”
