NBC’s Savannah Guthrie grilled House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) on the GOP tax reform bill on Wednesday, suggesting that he and the Republicans were “living in a fantasy world” for thinking that businesses would respond positively to the new tax reform bill — only to be proven wrong hours later by multiple businesses.
Guthrie cited liberal former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg while interviewing Ryan on NBC’s “Today” — who wrote in an op-ed earlier this month that the notion that the tax reform bill would help workers was “pure fantasy.”
“CEOs aren’t waiting on a tax cut to ‘jump-start the economy’—a favorite phrase of politicians who have never run a company—or to hand out raises,” Bloomberg wrote. “It’s pure fantasy to think that the tax bill will lead to significantly higher wages and growth.”
“I’ll ask you plainly: Are you living in a fantasy world?” Guthrie asked Ryan.

Shortly after Guthrie’s biased segment aired on national television, businesses started to respond to the new tax reform bill — which President Donald Trump has not even signed into law yet.
