WATCH: NBC Reporter Tries To Use Texas Shooting To Embarrass Trump In South Korea, Fails Miserably

A reporter from NBC News tried to embarrass President Donald Trump while he was in South Korea speaking at a joint press conference alongside South Korean President Moon Jae-in in Seoul on Tuesday.

While many of the questions centered around the Korean Peninsula, Ali Vitali brought up the issue of gun control in an overt attempt to grandstand.

“You’ve talked about wanting to put extreme vetting on people trying to come into the United States,” Vitali said with a smug tone. “But I wonder if you would consider extreme vetting for people trying to buy a gun.”

Trump called her out for choosing his trip to Asia to bring up the issue of gun control.

“Well you’re bringing up a situation that probably shouldn’t be discussed too much right now,” Trump said. “We could probably let a little time go by, but it’s okay if you feel that’s an appropriate question even though we are in the heart of South Korea.”

Trump then pointed out that if more extreme gun vetting were in place, the man who took out the gunman might not have been able to have his gun and more people would have died.

Law enforcement officials confirmed that the good Samaritan who took out the shooter saved countless more lives from being lost.

Vitali failed to acknowledge the fact that a previously released report indicated that the Texas church shooter was ineligible to purchase a firearm, however due to a mistake made by the Air Force under the Obama administration, the shooter was able to purchase the firearm because his criminal records were not reported to the FBI. The system did not fail, the government failed.

Interestingly, no media outlets reported Vitali’s name or the news organization that she represented at the time of this report; reports simply stated, “a reporter asked.”

Vitali also tweeted out her remarks and sentiments following her stunt:
