MSNBC anchor Ali Velshi devoted an entire segment on his Monday show to criticizing Florida’s gun laws in the wake of the Jacksonville shooting on Sunday — even though it was previously reported that the shooter was from Baltimore, Maryland.
“As we wait to learn more about the gunman who opened fire at a video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, and where he got his gun, it’s worth taking another look at gun laws in Florida,” Velshi said in a video segment flagged by NewsBusters.
Velshi’s segment came after it was widely reported on Sunday that federal law enforcement officials raided a home in Baltimore, Maryland, where the shooter reportedly lived.
Shortly after Velshi’s segment, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the shooter purchased his firearms in Maryland, which negated the point of Velshi’s segment.
Democratic politicians, left-wing activists, and members of the media often push gun control narratives in the wake of major shootings before the facts, which often debunk the false narratives being pushed, emerge.
