Comedian Michelle Wolf apparently wasn’t satisfied with her “roast” of White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, so she took a second swipe in the premiere episode of her Netflix show, “The Break With Michelle Wolf,” calling Sanders a “hypocrite” and insulting her “ugly personality.”
Wolf attacked Sanders for Sanders’ suggestion that “any Democrat who claims to support women’s empowerment and our national security but opposes her nomination is a total hypocrite,” snidely remarking that “if anyone’s an expert on hypocrites, it’s Sarah Huckabee Sanders.”
Wolf then, realizing she wasn’t finished, spat out, “And for the record, that was not a looks-based joke. That was about her ugly personality,” adding that Sanders “has the Mario Batali of personalities,” apparently referencing an earlier attack she’d made on Batali’s appearance.

Obviously, Wolf has calculated the mileage she got from viciously tearing into a present Sarah Huckabee Sanders at the Correspondents’ Dinner, comparing Sanders to a lesbian character on “The Handmaid’s Tale” and viciously skewering Sanders’ makeup.
“I actually really like Sarah, I think she’s very resourceful,” Wolf said. “She burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye. Like maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s lies.”
The joke send a wave of outrage reverberating through even left-leaning media, though Wolf’s defenders claimed she was merely “roasting” the Press Secretary (she wasn’t — a roast requires the permission of the subject, and that the subject is able to respond). Wolf herself took the “mean girl” approach, claiming she’d merely been backhandedly “compliment[ing] her eye makeup and her ingenuity of materials.”
Apparently, though, Wolf was so enamored of her joke that she took pains to repeat it. Well, either that, or she’s sorely lacking in creativity, and too mired in her own self-satisfaction to focus on being funny. But that can’t be it . . . could it?
