America must “release the gates of hell” upon Islamic terrorists, said Dakota Meyer on Wednesday’s Fox & Friends.
Meyer is a retired Marine Corps sergeant and Medal of Honor recipient. He was awarded the military’s highest honor in 2011 for his conduct during a 2009 operation in Afghanistan. He is married to Sarah Palin’s daughter Bristol.
“The only way you get this point across is when we release the gates of hell on them, and we go over and we just start making war so ugly [that the enemy cannot continue fighting],” said Meyer.
“At least we have a president in place that’s not gonna allow us to be the victims,” said Meyer of President Donald Trump. “You can guarantee he’s gonna do whatever it’s gonna take, no matter if it’s the most popular thing in the court of public opinion. He’s gonna do what’s right to protect America.”
Barack Obama, said, Meyer, “was too busy worrying about” superficial political considerations as president.
Meyer rejected left-wing narratives framing Islamic terrorism as a function of wealth inequality, “Islamophobia,” or “climate change.” He also rejected left-wing perceptions of America as too aggressive in its projection of military power against Islamic terrorists.
Contrary to calls from Democrats and the broader left for a non-military “political solution” to address Islamic terrorists, Meyer called for their annihilation:
“We have to stop fighting wars with politics and political agendas. [We have to] go over there and make it ugly. We have to make war so ugly that nobody wants to fight it, anymore. And afterwards, we start building back what we have to build back. But first we have to go get rid of these [Islamic terrorists]. These people are just like rats. You can’t negotiate with these types of people. There’s only way to get rid of this type of evil, and that’s by killing them.”
Contrasting the homeland with Europe, Meyer noted the Second Amendment’s protection of the right to keep and bear arms as an asset in preventing and combating Islamic terrorism:
“A good thing we have that’s different than other countries in Europe is that we have the right to bear arms and we have our own weapons. [Islamic terrorists] are not going to attack places where people will defend themselves, right? They go after kids and women. I mean, they’re cowards. ISIS, they’re nothing but cowards.”
