GAZA, PALESTINE - 2023/11/10: Palestinian families are seen walking along a road while evacuating from the ongoing battles between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. For more than a month, thousands of Palestinians have been fleeing Gaza City and northern Gaza, making their way to the southern part of Gaza due to the ongoing intense conflict between the Palestinian armed group Hamas and the Israeli military. This conflict was sparked by an unprecedented attack by Hamas on October 7 in southern Israel, leading the Israel Defense Forces to respond with retaliatory bombings on Gaza.

Israel released footage on Saturday showing that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) protected 50,000 Gazans today as they evacuated to the southern part of the territory.

This was the seventh day in a row that Israel opened the evacuation corridor for Palestinians to escape the area. Israel first started opening evacuation routes four weeks ago, according to a report from Bloomberg News.

Israel also released a recorded conversation that they had with a senior official at Rantisi Hospital where they coordinated how internally displaced persons (IDPs) could safely leave the hospital and be evacuated.

A senior officer in the Coordination and Liaison Administration was on the ground coordinating the evacuations from the hospital with nearby IDF forces.

Israel gave them specific instructions on where to go, what streets to take, what time they could be evacuated, and how they should present themselves outside of the hospital so that Israel would know that they were not hostiles.

“The IDPs who are leaving must hold something white in their hands so that it will be clear that they aren’t carrying weapons and such because you’re aware of the sensitivities,” the Israeli officer said.

The IDF also announced that it killed Ahmed Siam, a company commander of Hamas’ Naser Radwan Company, who was responsible for holding a thousand Gazans hostage at the hospital.

He was killed while hiding in a school where the IDF discovered and neutralized additional terrorists who were present.

“Siam demonstrates once again that Hamas uses the civilians of the Gaza Strip as human shields for terror purposes,” the IDF said.
