Florida Democratic Rep. Alcee Hastings “joked” at a rally on Sunday that it would be a “crisis” if President Donald Trump were to drown in the Potomac River — and a “catastrophe” if anyone tried to save him.
Hastings’ remarks were made at Broward Democrats’ “Stronger Together” rally in Sunrise, Florida, according to local reporter Anthony Man.
“Do you know the difference between a crisis and a catastrophe?” Hastings said as he supposedly recalled someone else’s joke.
Hastings said that “a crisis is if Donald Trump falls into the Potomac River and can’t swim,” adding that a catastrophe is “if anybody saves his a*s.”
