WATCH: Broward County Sheriff Gives Embarrassing Interview, Says He’s Offered ‘Amazing Leadership’

Emily Zanotti

In a shocking interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper Sunday morning, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel praised his own handling of the tragic Parkland shooting, which left 17 high school students dead, and tried to remove himself from responsibility for the four sheriff’s deputies who remained outside the building while the shooter continued his rampage inside.

Late Saturday, the Sheriff’s department issued a statement denying any wrongdoing in failing to follow up on more than 23 separate warnings about the Florida shooter’s stockpile of weapons and propensity for violence. The bizarre statement claims that simply because the shooter had committed no “arrestable offenses,” that the sheriff’s department was off the hook in handling the situation.
