On Sunday night a gunman with an automatic weapon opened fire at the crowd attending a country music concert outside of the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas.

Attendees of the Route 91 Harvest festival were in the middle of one of the acts when suddenly multiple bursts of rapid firing could be heard as panic and screaming started to spread through the crowd.

Footage of the incident (below) was quickly shared on social media:

Another angle posted shows the horrific moments after the lights were turned on the crowd and the gunman continues to open fire, as innocent bystanders do their best to take cover and flee:

According to an early report by USA Today, “University Medical Center spokeswoman Danita Cohen said 26 people were admitted to the hospital. Of those, at least two died, 12 were in critical condition and the rest were being evaluated, she said.”

The number killed by the gunman has reached over 50; over 400 are injured.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted that one suspect is down, adding later that, “At this time we do not believe there are any more shooters.”

The suspect was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. Paddock committed suicide in his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, where he had a number of weapons.

Police initially sought his companion, Marilou Danley, as a person of interest, but no longer believe she had anything to do with the shooting.

The Mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman, tweeted: “Pray for Las Vegas. Thank you to all our first responders out there now.”

A crisis response page has been set up on Facebook for those trying to establish if their loved ones who attended the concert are safe: Click Here.
