On Monday, the Food and Drug Administration approved the country&#8217;s first drug derived from marijuana.
The drug, GW Pharmaceuticals&#8217; Epidiolex, treats two different forms of epilepsy, according to <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2018/06/25/fda-approves-countrys-first-medicine-made-from-marijuana/">StatNews</a>. Consisting of cannabidiol (CBD), which doesn&#8217;t elicit a high among users, it will be sold as an oil, and demonstrated its success in trails where it reduced seizures by 40% in patients with Dravet or Lennox-Gastaut syndromes.
FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb stated, &#8220;This approval serves as a reminder that advancing sound development programs that properly evaluate active ingredients contained in marijuana can lead to important medical therapies. And the FDA is committed to this kind of careful scientific research and drug development.&#8221;
GW CEO Justin Gover added, &#8220;This approval is the culmination of GW&#8217;s many years of partnership with patients, their families, and physicians in the epilepsy community to develop a much needed, novel medicine. These patients deserve and will soon have access to a cannabinoid medicine that has been thoroughly studied in clinical trials, manufactured to assure quality and consistency, and available by prescription under a physician&#8217;s care.&#8221;
He added:

This is an important medical advance. But it&#8217;s also important to note that this is not an approval of marijuana or all of its components. This is the approval of one specific CBD medication for a specific use. And it was based on well-controlled clinical trials evaluating the use of this compound in the treatment of a specific condition. Moreover, this is a purified form of CBD. It&#8217;s being delivered to patients in a reliable dosage form and through a reproducible route of delivery to ensure that patients derive the anticipated benefits. This is how sound medical science is advanced.&#8221;

Before Epidiolex can be sold, the Drug Enforcement Administration <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2016/08/10/marijuana-medical-research-dea/">will have to reclassify CBD</a>, <a href="https://www.statnews.com/2016/05/16/marijuana-research/">considered a Schedule I drug</a>. That ruling should happen in the next 90 days.
Lennox-Gastaut and Dravet syndromes can cause recurrent seizures, even dozens in one day; 20% of patients suffering from the diseases die before they are 20 years old.

In light of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment revelations that have rocked Hollywood and dominated the headlines over the past few weeks, it seems not even a knee touch during a talk show will go by unnoticed.
On Saturday night, movie star Adam Sandler found himself sitting on the couch of BBC&#8217;s The Graham Norton Show along side his The Meyerowitz Stories co-star Emma Thompson to his right and actress Claire Foy of The Crown to his left. Model/actress Cara Delevinge was also there watching the &#8220;event&#8221; unfold.
In the clip below, Sandler is in the middle of telling a chat-show story when he touches Foy&#8217;s knee with his hand and quickly removes it before touching it again:

According to <a href="http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-5027717/Twitter-slams-Adam-Sandler-touches-Claire-Foy-s-knee.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The Daily Mail</a>, a representative for Foy said that she was not offended by what had happened.
&#8220;We don&#8217;t believe anything was intended by Adam&#8217;s gesture and it has caused no offense to Claire,&#8221; a spokeswoman told the news outlet.
Sandler&#8217;s reps told the reporter that his client&#8217;s actions were &#8220;a friendly gesture&#8221; that have been &#8220;blown out of proportion.&#8221;

The Disney Channel made headlines this week by airing an episode of its hit show Andi Mack in which one of the main characters, a 13-year-old boy named Cyrus (pictured above), comes out as gay.
As the video below shows, Disney has been consistently incorporating homosexual themes and characters into their brand of children&#8217;s entertainment for some time now:

According to the clip, the Disney Channel sit-com Good Luck Charlie debuted its first lesbian characters back in January 2014.
In February 2016 Disney confirmed that Bucky and Pronk from the movie Zootopia are the first openly gay characters in a Disney film. That movie went on to make over a billion dollars at the box office.
Disney went on to subtly air its first gay kiss in the background scenes of a popular cartoon show called Star vs. The Forces of Evil in February 2017.
In March 2017, LeFou from Beauty and the Beast became the first openly gay character in a live-action Disney film.
In June 2017, Disney debuted its first &#8220;coming out&#8221; scene in a show titled The Lodge.
And then on Friday, Disney aired its most recent episode of Andi Mack in which Cyrus becomes the first openly gay main character on the Disney Channel.
According to <a href="https://deadline.com/2017/10/disney-channel-andi-mack-character-come-out-gay-1202194584/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Deadline Hollywood</a>, Andi Mack is &#8220;The coming-of-age series, starring Peyton Elizabeth Lee as the 13-year-old title character, premiered in March, becoming the top series of the year among girls (median age is 10) and #1 in its time period among all children ages six-14. It holds the top series spot on Disney Channel VOD, Disney Channel&#8217;s DisneyNOW app and on Disney Channel UK.&#8221;
Befored airing the new Andi Mack episode, Disney apparently <a href="https://deadline.com/2017/10/disney-channel-andi-mack-character-come-out-gay-1202194584/">consulted</a> child development experts and screened the show for organizations including GLAAD, PFLAG, The National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, and Common Sense Media, who all thought this sounded like a perfect storyline for the six-to-fourteen-year-old audience members:

Newly released security camera footage shows the harrowing moments a customer saved the day inside of a Pennsylvania bank last Friday.
In the video below, provided by the Scott Township Police Department, 63-year-old Robert Sakosky can be seen moseying into the Honesdale National Bank around noon minding his own &#8212; when suddenly a masked man brandishing a pistol rushes in, aims at the clerk, and demands all the cash.

After the teller gives the armed assailant, 38-year-old John Ryall, the money, Sakosky, who&#8217;s been watching the events unfold, decides he&#8217;s had enough and can be seen tackling the criminal into a wall.
The two other customers in the bank took the tackle as their cue to escape.
Sakosky manages to get Ryall&#8217;s gun away from him and then aggressively slams the robber to the ground, eventually removing the money bag, as well as Ryall&#8217;s mask.
Though the would-be thief can be seen getting away on foot, Sakosky alerts the approaching police officer to Ryall&#8217;s escape route.

Sakosky, it turns out, is a mild-mannered general manager of the local Carbondale Grand Hotel. His employees told WNEP they were both &#8220;shocked by and proud of what he did.&#8221;
&#8220;He&#8217;s definitely a hero, but he&#8217;s just a normal guy. I mean, he&#8217;s personable. He&#8217;s a good boss. He never gets angry. I&#8217;m honestly surprised he did it,&#8221; employee Wade Nordahl told WNEP.

The Disney Channel is set to premiere its first coming-out storyline of a 13-year-old boy on the hit show Andi Mack this week.
Rated the network&#8217;s #1 show for children ages 6 to 14, Andi Mack follows the story of a girl who discovers that the girl she thought was her older sister is actually her mother. Season 2 premieres this Friday and finds Andi hoping that her parents will get married.
But the drama doesn&#8217;t end there.
Young viewers will also watch as Andi&#8217;s best friend Cyrus, a key character in the show, realizes that he&#8217;s gay and has a crush on a fella named Jonah who Andi also has a crush on.
As the episodes unfolds, Cyrus will reportedly come out to a supportive mutual friend named Buffy, a scene intended &#8220;to provide positive role models for children &#8212; and adults &#8212; watching.&#8221;
Future episodes will apparently follow Cyrus&#8217; &#8220;journey to self-acceptance&#8221; as he figures out how to tell his girlfriend Iris that he is indeed a homosexual.

Disney Channel To Air Its First Gay Coming-Out Storyline

In light of the outcry from one particularly vocal Democratic mayor in Puerto Rico about relief efforts after Hurricane Maria, a video is quickly making its way across the internet purportedly showing what happened to many of the supplies sent to help the locals who were devastated by the storm.
The video&#8217;s description reads, &#8220;Fully packed meals in Trash Dumpster in Patilla, P.R. and Starvation still in effect in most of the island&#8221;:

The video shows a man shocked to find what looks like a shipping container-sized bin filled with box after box of unopened meals that have been discarded. When the camera pans, you can see a semi-truck trailer right behind the dumpster, which raises the question, &#8220;Did those supplies go straight from the truck to the trash?&#8221;
It turns out the man in the dumpster happens to be the Secretary of State of Puerto Rico, Luis Rivera Marin, who then spoke to CBS News Correspondent David Begnaud about what he found:

Producer and screenwriter Scott Rosenberg, famous for penning the Nicolas Cage action hits Con Air and Gone In Sixty Seconds, as well as critical successes such as High Fidelity and Beautiful Girls, aired out his guilt and grievances with how Hollywood&#8217;s elite are spewing &#8220;sanctimonious denial and condemnation&#8221; with regard to Harvey Wienstein and his criminally predatory ways.
In his Facebook post, Rosenberg says repeatedly that &#8220;everybody f-ing knew&#8221; what Weinstein was doing to these women but nobody wanted to take a stand because Harvey was their &#8220;Golden Goose.&#8221;
&#8220;We were willing to overlook what the Golden Goose was up to, in the murky shadows behind the barn,&#8221; Rosenberg writes.
And who is the &#8220;we&#8221; he is referring too? Oh, just every mover and shaker in Hollywood including, &#8220;You, the big producers; you, the big directors; you, the big agents; you, the big financiers. And those glory days in Tribeca? 
The old cramped offices? 
That wonderful gang of executives and assistants? 
All the filmmakers who were doing repeat business? 
The brothers wanted to create a &#8220;family of film&#8221;. 
And they did just that&#8230; 
We looked forward to having meetings there. 
Meetings that would turn into plans that would turn into raucous nights out on the town. 
Simply put: OG Miramax was a blast.
So, yeah, I was there. 
And let me tell you one thing. 
Let&#8217;s be perfectly clear about one thing:
Everybody-fucking-knew.
Not that he was raping. 
No, that we never heard. 
But we were aware of a certain pattern of overly-aggressive behavior that was rather dreadful. 
We knew about the man&#8217;s hunger; his fervor; his appetite. 
There was nothing secret about this voracious rapacity; like a gluttonous ogre out of the Brothers Grimm. 
All couched in vague promises of potential movie roles. 
(and, it should be noted: there were many who actually succumbed to his bulky charms. Willingly. Which surely must have only impelled him to cast his fetid net even wider).
But like I said: everybody-fucking-knew.
And to me, if Harvey&#8217;s behavior is the most reprehensible thing one can imagine, a not-so-distant second is the current flood of sanctimonious denial and condemnation that now crashes upon these shores of rectitude in gloppy tides of bullshit righteousness.
Because everybody-fucking-knew.
And do you know how I am sure this is true? 
Because I was there. 
And I saw you. 
And I talked about it with you. 
You, the big producers; you, the big directors; you, the big agents; you, the big financiers. 
And you, the big rival studio chiefs; you, the big actors; you, the big actresses; you, the big models. 
You, the big journalists; you, the big screenwriters; you, the big rock stars; you, the big restaurateurs; you, the big politicians.

Because who knew the repercussions? 
That old saw &#8220;You&#8217;ll Never Work In This Town Again&#8221; came crawling back to putrid life like a re-animated cadaver in a late-night zombie flick. 
But, yes, everyone knew someone who had been on the receiving end of lewd advances by him. 
Or knew someone who knew someone.
A few actress friends of mine told me stories: of a ghastly hotel meeting; of a repugnant bathrobe-shucking; of a loathsome massage request. 
And although they were rattled, they sort of laughed at his arrogance; how he had the temerity to think that simply the sight of his naked, doughy, carbuncled flesh was going to get them in the mood. 
So I just believed it to be a grotesque display of power; a dude misreading the room and making a lame-if-vile pass.
It was much easier to believe that. 
It was much easier for ALL of us to believe that.

Harvey was showing us the best of times. 
He was making our movies. 
Throwing the biggest parties. 
Taking us to The Golden Globes! 
Introducing us to the most amazing people (Meetings with Vice President Gore! Clubbing with Quentin and Uma! Drinks with Salman Rushdie and Ralph Fiennes! Dinners with Mick Jagger and Warren-freaking-Beatty!).
The most epic Oscar weekends. 
That seemed to last for weeks! 
Sundance! Cannes! Toronto! 
Telluride! Berlin! Venice! 
Private jets! Stretch limousines! Springsteen shows! 
Hell, Harvey once took me to St. Barth&#8217;s for Christmas. 
For 12 days! 
I was a broke-ass kid from Boston who had never even HEARD of St. Barth&#8217;s before he booked my travel. 
He once got me tickets to the seven hottest Broadway shows in one week. So I could take a new girlfriend on a dazzling tour of theater. 
He got me seats on the 40-yard-line to the Super Bowl, when the Patriots were playing the Packers in New Orleans. 
Even got me a hotel room, which was impossible to get that weekend. 
He gave and gave and gave and gave. 
He had a monarch&#8217;s volcanic generosity when it came to those within his circle. 
And a Mafia don&#8217;s fervent need for abject loyalty from his capos and soldiers.
But never mind us! 
What about what he was doing for the culture? 
Making stunningly splendid films at a time when everyone else was cranking-out simpering &#8220;INDEPENDENCE DAY&#8221; rip-offs.
It was glorious. 
All of it.
So what if he was coming on a little strong to some young models who had moved mountains to get into one of his parties? 
So what if he was exposing himself, in five-star hotel rooms, like a cartoon flasher out of &#8220;MAD MAGAZINE&#8221; (just swap robe for raincoat!) 
Who were we to call foul? 
Golden Geese don&#8217;t come along too often in one&#8217;s life.
Which goes back to my original point: 
Everybody-fucking-knew. 
But everybody was just having too good a time. 
And doing remarkable work; making remarkable movies.
As the old joke goes: 
We needed the eggs.
Okay, maybe we didn&#8217;t NEED them. 
But we really, really, really, really LIKED them eggs. 
So we were willing to overlook what the Golden Goose was up to, in the murky shadows behind the barn&#8230;
And for that, I am eternally sorry. 
To all of the women that had to suffer this&#8230; 
I am eternally sorry. 
I&#8217;ve worked with Mira and Rosanna and Lysette.

As more and more clips emerge confirming that Harvey Weinstein&#8217;s alleged abusive and perverse actions were an open secret in Hollywood, his contemporaries&#8217; excuses that they &#8220;had no idea what was going on&#8221; grow thinner and thinner.

In light of movie star Gwyneth Paltrow&#8217;s recent revelation to The New York Times that Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein sexually harassed her after she was cast in his 1996 film Emma, this clip from a 1998 David Letterman interview below can be seen in a whole new light:

Paltrow replies, &#8220;Do you count Harvey Weinstein as a coercer?&#8221;
Letterman responds with a curious joke about Weinstein having some sort of history with the mob that helped him acquire his powerful position.
Saying she&#8217;s &#8220;lucky&#8221; to do all her movies with Harvey and Miramax, Paltrow adds, &#8220;But he will coerce you to do a thing or two.&#8221;
Paltrow&#8217;s <a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/10/us/gwyneth-paltrow-angelina-jolie-harvey-weinstein.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">New York Times</a> revelation really puts that exchange in context. She told the Times that when she was 22 and Weinstein had just given her a potentially life-changing role, she was scheduled to meet with the producer at his hotel in Los Angeles. She said she didn&#8217;t initially suspect anything, but it soon became apparent that Weinstein, whom she said she thought of as her &#8220;Uncle Harvey,&#8221; had other things in mind.

Actor Corey Feldman has spent many years speaking out about the epidemic of Hollywood&#8217;s powerful elite using their influence to sexually abuse young actors trying to make it in show business.
In a clip from a 2013 episode of The View that&#8217;s re-emerging in light of the revelations concerning disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein&#8217;s alleged 30-year reign of sexual harassment and abuse, the 1980s child star can be seen telling the hosts what Hollywood is really like for young performers:

The clip begins as a defensive Feldman tells the hosts that, &#8220;There are people that were the people that did this to both me and Corey that are still working, they&#8217;re still out there, and that are some of the richest most powerful people in this business. And they do not want me saying what I am saying right now.&#8221;
What he is saying, or at least trying to explain, to Barbara Walters is that he and his best friend Corey Haim, another famous &#8217;80s child star, were both sexually abused by powerful men in Hollywood. Feldman believes that the abuse was a factor in Haim&#8217;s drug addiction and untimely death in 2010.
But Walters didn&#8217;t seem to want to hear it. She responds, &#8220;Are you saying they are pedophiles and that they are still in this business?&#8221; to which Feldman nods and says, &#8220;Yes.&#8221;
Feldman adds, &#8220;They don&#8217;t want me here right now. They want me dead.&#8221;
Walters huffs that statement off as exaggeration, turning away from Feldman to her co-host and anti-vaxxer Jenny McCarthy.
After Feldman advises parents who want to put their children in show business to not go into it with naivety, Walters, with clear disdain in her voice, cuts him off by saying, &#8220;You&#8217;re damaging an entire industry!&#8221;

A YouTube video quickly making the rounds appears to show a man defiantly yelling in the direction of the rapid gunfire as his fellow concert attendees rightly duck for cover amidst the hail of bullets.
In the disturbing footage below (around the 1 minute mark), a woman can be heard saying &#8220;I don&#8217;t know what to do,&#8221; just as the camera catches an unidentified man in a black t-shirt standing with his arms fully outstretched yelling, &#8220;Come on, pu**y!&#8221; in the direction of the gunfire:

Another man can be seen in the video wearing an American flag tank top who seems to stand in confusion as the crowd huddles on the ground for cover.
Thankfully, the panicked woman heard in the video is joined by a father and son who help lead her to safety as they flee the area.

The crackling noise of automatic fire can be heard but because of the echo it is unclear where it is coming from, leading to confusion about where to safely run to.
Meanwhile as the man continues to stand up and look for the shooter another person begs him to &#8220;get the f*** down.&#8221;

The man continues to scan the area until he locates the gunman&#8217;s position and then gives him the finger. He then finally ducks for cover as the next round of bullets rain down.
So far, 58 have been confirmed dead and 518 injured during the horrific event.

On Sunday night a gunman with an automatic weapon opened fire at the crowd attending a country music concert outside of the Mandalay Bay Casino in Las Vegas.
Attendees of the Route 91 Harvest festival were in the middle of one of the acts when suddenly multiple bursts of rapid firing could be heard as panic and screaming started to spread through the crowd.

According to an early report by USA Today, &#8220;University Medical Center spokeswoman Danita Cohen said 26 people were admitted to the hospital. Of those, at least two died, 12 were in critical condition and the rest were being evaluated, she said.&#8221;
The number killed by the gunman has reached <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2017/10/02/las-vegas-gunman-suspect-is-stephen-paddock-64-of-mesquite.html">over 50</a>; over 400 are injured.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department tweeted that one suspect is down, adding later that, &#8220;At this time we do not believe there are any more shooters.&#8221;

The suspect was identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock of Mesquite, Nevada. Paddock committed suicide in his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel, where he had a number of weapons.
Police initially sought his companion, Marilou Danley, as a person of interest, but no longer believe she had anything to do with the shooting.
The Mayor of Las Vegas, Carolyn Goodman, tweeted: &#8220;Pray for Las Vegas. Thank you to all our first responders out there now.&#8221;

Liam Smyth, a grad student at Britain&#8217;s University of Bristol, thought his date with a woman he&#8217;d met on Tinder was going swimmingly, that was until she asked to use his apartment bathroom.
After finishing her business, the woman was distraught to see that her toilet log wouldn&#8217;t flush. She decided to open a window and hurl it into the garden only to see it drop between the first window and a second, non-opening window that now clearly displayed her creation like a museum piece.
Then things somehow got even worse as Smyth tells <a href="http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-bristol-41167296" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BBC News</a>.
&#8220;We&#8217;d had a really nice evening,&#8221; said Smyth. &#8220;We&#8217;d had a meal at a well-known chicken restaurant [Nando&#8217;s?!], had a few beers and then gone back to mine for a bottle of wine and a film.&#8221;
After she returned from the toilet, Smyth said, she had a &#8220;panicked look in her eye&#8221; and confessed what she&#8217;d just done.

&#8220;It was into this twilight zone that my date had thrown her poo,&#8221; he said.
He went to find a hammer to smash the window, but she decided to &#8220;climb in head first&#8221; after the &#8220;offending package&#8221; and became jammed.
&#8220;I was starting to grow concerned, so I called the fire brigade and once they had composed themselves, they set to work removing her from the window.&#8221;

Thankfully the woman, who fancies herself an amateur gymnast, was rescued unharmed. And though it only took the firemen 15 minutes to get her out, their Tweet about it will be sure to keep them laughing for weeks on end.

Smyth told reporters that repairs to his bathroom could be upwards of $400, which he says, as a postgraduate student, is a significant chunk of his monthly budget. A friend suggested he set up a <a href="https://www.gofundme.com/9wvxt9-replacement-window" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">GoFundMe page</a> for the repairs and tell his story. The fund quickly surpassed the needed repair bill and is currently at $3,238.
As the story&#8217;s gone viral, he&#8217;s had generous offers to fix the repairs for free. In light of this, Smyth decided that 100% of the GoFundMe donations will be split between two charities: one that puts in toilets in the developing world and the other for firefighters.

A Kent, Washington, man may be looking for a new line of work after his miserable attempt at hijacking an SUV was caught on film and is quickly going viral.
The incident happened last Wednesday around 7 p.m. after police say the man had already tried to steal a parked car in a driveway; the man punched the driver but ran away after the driver fought back.
The carjacker&#8217;s next attempt would make him internet infamous.
In the clip (below), a silver SUV emerges into frame as the woman filming is shocked to see a man hanging onto the driver&#8217;s side door-handle while being dragged down the road with his pants being torn off:

At one point the vehicle comes to a stop and the half-naked carjacker stands and begins opening the door in hopes of completing his robbery, but thankfully the driver hits the gas with the man left once again clutching the door handle, acquiring some much-deserved road rash.
According to <a href="http://www.kiro7.com/news/local/graphic-video-shows-kent-carjacking-suspect-being-dragged-by-car/598682628" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">KIRO7</a>, when the car stopped again after the video ends, the theif tried to steal a taxi but it was too late because the police were on the scene.

Eyewitnesses say police used a Taser on him several times to get him to give up. Police report the suspect also punched other cars, and he was trying to break door handles to get inside vehicles. He was taken to the hospital for treatment after his arrest. Kent Police Department confirms to KIRO 7 News that the man was taken into custody.

On Tuesday, 20-year-old Richard Losey of Lancaster, Ohio, was arrested (mug shot below) on suspicion of misdemeanor battery with a hate-crime enhancement for viciously attacking a black Trump supporter at a rally over the weekend.

The victim, R.C. Maxwell, was attending an anti-illegal immigration gathering in Laguna Beach, California on Sunday, called the &#8220;America First!&#8221; rally, which was promoted to shine a light on the victims of crimes committed by immigrants in the U.S. illegally. The event drew roughly 2,500 people.
According to police, Maxwell was &#8220;peacefully&#8221; speaking with a group of leftists at Main Beach Park when the rage-filled counter-protester attacked him.

Maxwell told <a href="http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-laguna-arrest-20170823-story.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The LA Times</a> that he went to talk with the counter-protesters, &#8220;trying to find commonalities,&#8221; and was attacked, choked, and pepper-sprayed while doing so.
In a longer version of the video, Maxwell is seen addressing the face-covered Antifa crowd, telling them, &#8220;There is a problem with illegal immigration; I speak out against that; that doesn&#8217;t make me a Nazi.&#8221;
&#8220;You&#8217;re a traitor!&#8221; someone shouts over him.
&#8220;People want you in chains, dude,&#8221; another voice says.
&#8220;If you want to keep the peace, you should leave,&#8221; someone says.
Maxwell is then knocked to the ground by Losey, who then jumps on him.
&#8220;In the aftermath of Charlottesville, people are emboldened to take a stand for what they deem as xenophobic or racist ideologies, but I think it&#8217;s gone too far,&#8221; Maxwell told The Times, adding, &#8220;Now it&#8217;s resulting in violence &#8212; no one on the left is condemning this.&#8221;
Authorities said Losey fled the scene before officers arrived.

Detectives arrested Losey on Tuesday as he was trying to buy a bus pass to Ohio in what they believe was an attempt to &#8220;flee the state to avoid criminal prosecution,&#8221; police said.

Case in point, surveillance video (below) shows a man who immediately upon robbing a victim of her belongings with the intention of taking her car, somehow does not know how to actually turn the vehicle on.
Kentrell Dabney, 20, is seen pretending to be on the phone outside of a Shell Gas Station in Atlanta, Georgia on July 25. As his victim approaches her car, Dabney drops his phone routine and pulls a gun out of his pocket which he then points at the woman&#8217;s head. He proceeds to take her cell phone, wallet and even the drink she just purchased from the convenience store. The woman then walks away as Dabney gets into the driver&#8217;s seat to leave, but after realizing he has no idea how to start the car, police said he beckoned the victim back over to show him how the push-start-button ignition works.
With the vehicle finally running, the idiot criminal eventually made his getaway:

Video: Armed Carjacker Robs Woman, Then Has The Nerve To Ask For Her Help

Jordan Dinsmore, a 20-year-old Midlands Tech student in Columbia, South Carolina, narrowly escaped three kidnappers who threatened to rape and kill her last Wednesday night in the parking lot of her apartment complex. What ultimately saved Dinsmore: her mother&#8217;s sage advice and her ability to drive a car with a manual gearbox.
According to the <a href="http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/blogs/tim-blair/manual-gearboxes-save-lives/news-story/ed3f7562173c1e42b93fb80972755405" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Daily Telegraph</a>, as Dinsmore was being threatened and assaulted, she recalled advice her mother, Beth Turner, once gave her. Her mother had narrowly avoided being assaulted while in college decades ago and had impressed upon Dinsmore that if she&#8217;s ever in that situation to 1) stay calm, 2) don&#8217;t let them get you alone, and 3) try to escape.
&#8220;If they get you out of the public eye, they&#8217;re going to do something worse to you and shoot you anyway,&#8221; Dinsmore recalled her mother saying. 
Armed with that advice and her 2009 Scion&#8217;s manual transmission, she indeed found herself with a tactical advantage over her attackers.

South Carolina newspaper <a href="http://www.thestate.com/news/local/crime/article164003277.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">The State</a> describes how the night unfolded after Dinsmore pulled into her parking space around 1 a.m.:

Three men emerged from a nearby line of trees and pushed Dinsmore to the ground, she says. One pointed a gun at her and threatened to pull the trigger if she kept screaming.
The men, all wearing dark clothing, took her phone and purse, Dinsmore said. They forced her back into her car, but not before struggling with the door locks and realizing the car had a stick shift that none of them could operate, she said.
Tired of the delay, one fled on foot, Dinsmore said. The other two, including one with a gray handgun, forced Dinsmore into the driver&#8217;s seat and told her to drive them to a nearby ATM.
She withdrew $300 &#8211; the maximum allowed &#8211; and pleaded again to be released. Instead, she was told to drive north on Bluff Road toward Columbia. &#8220;I knew that at that point I had to get out.&#8221;
Dinsmore left her seat belt off, hoping the men wouldn&#8217;t notice the car&#8217;s safety alarm.
As they drove, one of her abductors told her they were headed to a relative&#8217;s house, where Dinsmore would have sex with one of his friends.
</blockquote>
&#8220;I was thinking somehow I have to get out of this,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Can I crash the car? No, because it might knock me out and not them. Can I pull over or something? I have to get away from them.&#8221;
And get away she did, in a truly remarkable manner.
As Dinsmore approached an intersection with three cars coming from the opposite direction, she decided this was her moment. She ignored the criminal&#8217;s orders to pull over and instead rolled the car into the intersection, popped it into neutral, and jumped out of the car at nearly 35 miles per hour. 
She did not see what exactly what happened next, but believes her attackers fled on foot after the vehicle swerved off the road and into the brush because they were unable to control the car.
She told reporters that she is thankful the ruthless criminals didn&#8217;t know how to drive a stick shift.
&#8220;I&#8217;m going to be driving a manual for the rest of my life,&#8221; she said.
According to <a href="http://www.wyff4.com/article/3-teens-targeted-college-students-in-racially-motivated-crime-spree-sheriff-says/10376659" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">WYFF</a>, three teenagers have been arrested in a racially motivated crime spree that included the incident with Dinsmore.

Sheriff Leon Lott said the crimes had escalated from robbing delivery people, to carjacking to a narrowly escaped sexual assault attempt.
Lott said Raquan Green, 17 (mug shot below) and two 15-year-olds whose names will not be released because of their ages, targeted their victims by race. 
&#8220;This was a crime spree. They would not have stopped,&#8221; Lott said. &#8220;They made a statement that they did not like white people and they were only going to rob white people.&#8221;
Lott said one of the victims, who was African-American, told investigators she was released by the suspects when they found out she was not white.

The teens have been linked to at least six other cases and are facing a slew of charges, including kidnapping and robbery.
